JDeveloper 11.1.2.3: panelDashboard, ways to maximize btf panelbox

I've been looking at couple of examples on how to use the paneldashboard and panelbox component. I have been trying to implement an approach which requires minimal coupling between a single DashboardApp and various ChildApps.
I have a panelbox (in DashboardApp) which displays a btf page fragment (from ChildApp) as a region, this region has a commandlink action which flows to another view within the same btf. I need the panelbox to maximize after clicking on that commandlink. A quandary I have at the moment is the when I maximize the panelbox using a switcher component, the btf flow resets (because the region is statically bound in the switcher's facets). To get around this, I have to break the single btf into two separate btfs. So that when the commandlink is clicked, a contextual event is fired and the DashboardApp (event subscriber) uses the switcher to toggle the "maximized" facet to the second btf.
So in short, a dashboard has a panelbox which display a btf region, clicking a link in the region maximizes it but also resets the btf flow. Is there a better way to accomplish this without separating the btf?
thanks,
Wes

Hi,
the size of a panel box in a dashboard is determined by the row size defined in the dashboard.

  • Is there a way to maximize the crop box?

    Terms: I consider a crop box maximized when it is as large as it can be without exceeding the image size in either dimension.  (For an unconstrained crop, a maximized crop box contains the entire image.)
    When I first select the new crop tool, it is maximized.  If I change the crop box, the only ways I have found to get it maximized again are to cancel the crop and restart -- or zoom in to the pixel level and adjust the crop boundaries.
    Am I missing some magic incantation?
    (This 'maximize crop' feature is one we have -- and use -- in some other image processing software.)

    Howard and Charles -- Thanks.  The reset crop box, whether invoked from the options bar or from the right-click menu, does neither what I wanted, nor what I expected.  (That's not a bad thing; just curious.)
    I set the crop box to 13in by 19in then open a landscape image.  It opens with the crop box in place, giving me a portrait crop out of the middle of the image.  I rotate the image using the mouse and delayed shift key so it's in portrait orientation.  The crop box is giving me the middle of the image (not the whole thing).  Fit on screen lets me see the entire image but obviously doesn't alter the crop area.
    Resetting the crop box returns the image to landscape orientation.  (Not the result I wanted.)  Here's the quite unexpected part: The reset cleared my crop box specifications.  After resetting, the crop box has been set to unconstrained and is now set to the full size of the image.
    I don't consider that a bug -- just a design choice.
    Within my experience, the Crop tool is the only one with this kind of "reset" function.  In the classic crop tool, we had the CLEAR button.  The Reset function is implemented the same way.  The difference is that in previous versions, the CLEAR button isn't available once you have drawn the crop box.  Even in CS6, I haven't found any other tool with a Reset option.  So there is no consistency issue.  How Abobe chooses to implement the reset function for the crop tool will become the standard.
    And the more I think about this, the more I think Adobe should revisit this decision.  I think it would be more useful -- and more reasonable -- for Reset to return the tool settings to whatever the user had specified at the beginning of the crop operation.
    Here's what, to me, is an anomoly in the current implementation: The Reset command doesn't reset ALL of the tool settings.  Reset does not affect "Delete Cropped Pixels" or "Use Classic Mode" or the View setting.

  • Any way to maximize a GUI window ?

    I have a GUI application that was developed using Textpad(if that matters), and I have the following line :
    setSize(1200,1000);
    This does size the window to fit the entire screen, but is there a better way to do this or some keyword (i.e. MAX) that I don't know about ?

    I searched the forum for this "+maximum +size +screen" , and i found .....

  • Best way to maximize sharpness of photo's

    I notice when I drop jpgs into iWeb they loose sharpness. Is thier a way to maintain the sharpness. Is this a resize issue? Do photo's need to be resized and optimally sharpend external to iWeb to the exact size you need them in iWeb

    Bear in mind that any image that is output by iWeb will become 72 dpi even if it was dropped into iWeb at a much higher resolution.

  • Is there a way to maximize my 160gb storage without buying a 3rd party program like "CleanMyMac"?

    I only have 29gb remaining of my 160 total and it just doesn't seem that I should be using that much.  over 60gb is identified as "Other" which I have no idea how to improve on that.   Any ideas?

    I don't know why Mike got on his rant about MacKeeper. While it is true that you should avoid it that doesn't ap[pear to be what you are talking about here.
    I would however echo Mike about CleanMyMac and/or CleanMyMac2. They are both to be avoid also. They are worthless and only known to cause problems on a Mac.

    Hi there,
    10.1.3 is not production ready yet, and you will find this warning on the oracle page http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/java/oc4j/1013/index.html

  • Setting Dialog, Tree Node and Menu Font in JDeveloper 11.1.1.4/11.1.1.5

    Hi,
    I'm near sighted and thus dependent on being able to choose larger fonts. For the code editor, this poses no problem. For the widgets in the views surrounding the editor (containing tree nodes) and dialogs (with the Preferences dialog being one example), the font is very small at high screen resolutions (I don't want to resort to a lower resolution since I would like the fonts to appear as detailed as possible).
    Is there any way to override the menu, tree node, and dialog font via command line switches and/or property/config files during JDeveloper startup in a platform independent way?
    If it can't be done platform independently, what are the necessary steps on Linux (probably for the GTK lib) and Windows?
    Thanks in advance!
    Kind regards,
    Holger

    I previously developed under full screen option and my PC resolution was 1600x1200. But when the application was ran on other screens it was displaying with some page contents being cut out. It was due to other machines running on lower resoultion. I will need now redesign the pages to run on user defined lower resolution of 1280x1024. How do I setup Jdeveloper design tab to show for 1280x1024.
    Thanks

  • Can JDeveloper deploy a WAR created in another IDE?

    I am developing a web application (set of servlets) that will be packaged as a WAR file and that I want to deploy to our Oracle 10g release 1 application server (9.0.4.2).
    Can I use JDeveloper to deploy the WAR even if I didn't develop the application in JDeveloper? I'm still trying to decide whether to use JDeveloper or Eclipse, and the version of Eclipse I'm using (Europa) doesn't seem to support the OAS version I have.
    I know I could deploy the WAR using the OAS Control, but our server people don't want to give me the ias_admin account details. They don't mind entering those details into JDeveloper while I look the other way though.

    The way that you do the one click deploy from JDeveloper is using a deployment profile.
    So you might need to first create a deployment profile for your code in JDeveloper and then deploy it.
    Try doing New->Projects->Project from WAR file to get your source into JDeveloper.
    Then do New->Deployment Profile->WAR and see if it helps.

  • Problem implementing web services with types generated by jdeveloper 10.1.3

    Hello,
    I have generated a web service using JDeveloper 10.1.3.3. from a WSDL. This WSDL includes a schema with some types defined. There is a element with the following definition:
    <xs:element name="OptionalInputs" type="AnyType"/>
    where:
    <xs:complexType name="AnyType">
    <xs:sequence>
    <xs:any processContents="lax" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded"/>
    </xs:sequence>
    </xs:complexType>
    The meaning of the element OptionalInputs is that it can include other elements, of any type, definied within the same schema.
    After generating the web service from the WSDL, I get the following:
    - A Class named 'AnyType' that consists of one element of type
    protected javax.xml.soap.SOAPElement[] _any;
    - Some classes which must be included in an object of type 'AnyType', and that implements java.io.Serializable.
    However, I do not know how to include successfully one of this (serializable) classes into an object of type 'AnyType' (SOAPElement[]).
    Could you be so kind as to help me, please?
    Thank you very much in advance.

    I'll try to be brief...
    two db servers communicate throgh a web service.Based on that Web Service( ws-for short) I'm doing a web proxy,witch I am loading into a database...and then I can do calls to it through pl/sql(create function ...as laguage java..).
    The problem is when I try to execute this function...in am prompted for many libraries...witch I found in the <jdeveloper home>...but there are many...and if I load some ...they are invalid...so I try to compile them...some do compile some don't(they need another library/class...and so on)
    Is there a method to avoid all this? so I should be able to use the proxy...

  • Add flex to jdeveloper

    Hello every body.
    Im new using Jdeveloper and Flex.
    Im working in Red Hat Linux ES/AS 4.
    I have download and install Jdevloper 10.1.3 and download , from macromedia web, and install Flex 2.0.1 in my server.
    Now I want add Flex to Jdeveloper in the way that I can work with Java and Flex integrated, for this I think that I must to add Flex in anyway to Jdeveloper.
    Anybody can send me a link where I can find how to do this?
    Thanks in advanced & regards to all.

    Thanks John for your time, I founded also the same page and add to my browser.
    http://gergerconsulting.blogspot.com/2007/02/using-flex-in-adf-jsf-applications.html
    The other link that you send is against the treah that I open in the forum and you answer.
    I have seem the gergeconsulting page and I think it is a good sample of how to begining.
    But what I want is to know how to integrate Flex like Jdeveloper Extension or what is the way to do it.
    Do you know any document that explain how to do it?
    Thanks in advanced.

  • A way to open up all .java in a project

    Hi!
    Not worked in Jdeveloper much, but is there a way to make the program open up all the .java files (at once)?
    Regards

    I don't know such a feature. On the other hand it does not make sense to do so if you have a large project with 100+ files.
    Can you give a use case?

  • Impoting Jdeveloper project into Eclipse 4.7 juno

    can i impot Jdeveloper project into Eclipse 4.7 juno????please help me.

    You can manually configure a JDeveloper project to use in Eclipse. The process depends on the type of project and technologies being used.
    Is it an "EJB Project" and if so, are you using JPA? Or is it a "Web Project"? Are you using ADF?
    Eclipse and Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse (OEPE) have corresponding project types that you can use to set up your Eclipse environment for the JDeveloper project. There are multiple way you could configure an Eclipse project with the source from your JDeveloper project. You could just create a new Eclipse project then copy your JDeveloper source files into the src folder of the new Eclipse project and "refresh" the project.
    If you are trying to maintain the same project structure and some level of interoperability, you can create an Eclipse project with the same folder structure as the existing project. For example, using OEPE and following the steps below would help to configure a JDeveloper Web Project that uses JSF as a "Dynamic Web Project" in Eclipse. Basically, you'll create a new project to overlay your existing project, modifying the default Eclipse project structure to map it to the underlying structure of the JDeveloper project. The process will read/import the existing source files and add Eclipse metadata to the project.
    - Copy your JDeveloper project to your Eclipse workspace or a location where you want to maintain the project as an Eclipse project.
    - With OEPE, create a new "Dynamic Web Project" and use the name/location of the JSF web project from JDev.
    - In the "New Dynamic Web Project" wizard,...
    - click "modify" to update the configuration and include the desired "JavaServer Faces" version, and project facets for other technologies such as JSTL and "Oracle ADF Web".
    - you can create an EAR project and select a configuration option to add your Dynamic Web Project to the EAR.
    - change the "Default output folder" from "build\classes" to "classes" which is what the default output directory is in JDev.
    - in the "Web Module" page of the wizard, change the "Content directory" field from 'WebContent' to 'public_html' to match the default value in JDeveloper.
    - I think there's an option to generate the web.xml deployment descriptor that is selected by default and you can override to so that it is not selected and the process will not overwrite your existing web.xml.
    After completing the remaining pages of the wizard, the process will generate the required Eclipse metadata to the project and will refresh the project so that it now contains all the src and web content files from the underlying sub folders.
    This is just a rough example and you may have to do some additional configurations for dependent libraries or hand edits of some descriptor files, etc.

  • Oracle Forms migration to JDeveloper

    Hi everybody,
    We got here a large pool of Oracle Forms and PL/SQL savvy resources. They mainly use Oracle Designer to generate Oracle Forms applications. Occasionnaly, they tweak the generated forms with PL/SQL triggers to adapt the application for special needs.
    Now, they would like to go towards applications with HTML front-ends. With the advent of JDeveloper 10g (9.0.5), it might be the right time. With the ADF framework, screen painter, design time components, etc... there should be an easier learning curve for people with no java experience. Yes, we expect a couple of guys that should be very Java savvy but it should not be required for the entire pool of developer resources.
    Personnaly, I investigate the business tier (or data tier) to identify changes in the development methodology required to address the java environment.
    Currently, a good part of the business rules are defined within the database through the use of triggers. Should it stay the same with the use of ADF BC4J ? I mean, is there some situations where some kind of business logic or validation should reside within the BC4J model for the sake of performance or ease of development with ADF and the design time components? Maybe I should duplicate in java (within BC4J) some kind of validations like we used to do with Oracle Forms (through PL/SQL form triggers) to give the user a better UI response?
    I need some guidelines here.
    Thank you

    Thanks Prasoon for you suggestions.
    We're not heading toward application conversions from Forms to J2EE. Instead, we're thinking development methodology transformation from Designer/Forms to J2EE. But, in the beginning we're trying to minimize the efforts needed to learn the java (and J2EE) complexities. In the middle/long term, the developers should apply the correct techniques to build web applications with the right tools and proven J2EE standards.
    Right now, we're looking at the Designer ADF Business Components Generator comming with JDeveloper 10g to see to what extent we can reproduce in BC4J what we can define in Designer for a module. In the first time, we intend to continue module definitions in Designer (instead of UML Activity or Class diagram). That part should sufice for the database definition and the model layer. For the view layer, I think that the new screen painter in JDeveloper can be used the same way the developers used the screen designer in Oracle Designer. That leaves the Struts Page Flow for the controler layer.
    We know that JDeveloper has not evolved yet to the level of what Oracle Designer can do. There is a certain amount of stepping back in the design of an application. But we think we must step in the J2EE world some day and maybe JDeveloper 10g give us that opportunity. After further evaluation, if we think the gap is too large, maybe we'll wait for a next JDeveloper evolution.

  • Is JDeveloper bug?

    hi
    I work with jdev10.1.3 and recently i found the application module configuration setting function sometime can't work.When i right click on the application module tree node will popup function list and each function work fine just only Configurations can't work.
    Is this a JDeveloper bug?Is there other way to set application module configuration?

    Hi,
    not sure why you hope that this is a bug?
    Swing does support internationalization and JDeveloper supoorts this. However, as usual in Swing, you have to develop it as tehre is no automated way for doing this.
    There is some help provided by ADF in that e..g. BC4J supports message bundles for translating Strings.
    See: http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/i18n/index.html
    Also, straight from the JDeveloper product page on OTN, though not directly Swing related
