JDeveloper 3.1 and JDK1.2.2: are they REALLY compliant?

Hi,
I've already been developing in JDev 3.0 using Java 1.1.8 for a few months and have a number of EJB's deployed in an Oracle8i 8.1.5 database. These are accessed by a servlet which is called from a C++ application in order to populate the db tables. I'm using Java Webserver 2.0 and everything works fine.
I've been upgrading to Java 2 with JDev 3.1, Oracle 8i R2, and JDK1.2.2. Everything again works fine when I am testing and debugging in the JDev 3.1 IDE but when I deploy to the Web server, my context lookup for the EJB published name freezes, returns an error status to the C++ app but does not display any error/exception msgs in the server console/log files.
On investigating I found that the java.exe bundled with JDev 3.1 as the JDK1.2.2 version is actually NOT the java.exe that has been dispatched with the release version of JDK1.2.2! There are however two files in the bin directory of the JDK1.2.2 called oldjava.exe and oldjavaw.exe which correspond to the ones bundled with JDev 3.1?
Could someone please explain what is going on? As it stands at the moment the version of java.exe with JDK1.2.2 does not work for my EJB's but if I replace it with the oldjava.exe, it works fine. Does this mean that JDev 3.1 is NOT actually JDK1.2.2 compliant or have I done something wrong?
This is potentially a major problem for our projects so if anyone at Oracle has any info it would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Dave

David,
I changed Sun Java 1.2.2 VM to JDeveloper 3.0 1.1.8 VM and now I get this:

Which means that there is a difference relative to the VM version.
All the names are correct on 8i deployment. And all necessary files are on classpath, (including the EJB source and generated jars, that are also in the /lib on the context dochome).
Any thoughts?
Thanks,

Can you use the same charging cable for both an iPhone and an IPad or are they different?  When I use the charging cable for my iPhone on my Ipad, it doesn't charge.

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • I run Maverick and need to uninstall my pages, keynote and numbers and reinstall them. Are they free on Maverick?

My Mac Mini was set up by someone else who used his login to install Pages, Keynote and Numbers. Now I cannot update these.
I need to uninstall these and reinstall them with my login. Are these apps free for Maverick users?

They are not free unless you purchased them in the past on the App Store. However, if the following applies then you can get them free:
The iWork apps are free with a new iOS device since 1 SEP 2013. They are free with a new Mac since 1 OCT 2013. They are also free with the upgrade to OS X Mavericks 10.9 if you had the previous version installed when you upgraded.
iWork and iLife for Mac come free with every new Mac purchase. Existing users running Mavericks can update their apps for free from the Mac App Store℠. iWork and iLife for iOS are available for free from the App Store℠ for any new device running iOS 7, and are also available as free updates for existing users. GarageBand for Mac and iOS are free for all OS X Mavericks and iOS 7 users. Additional GarageBand instruments and sounds are available for a one-time in-app purchase of $4.99 for each platform.

Anyone know what happened to the Ampede developer? Would love to know if Layerlink and PDF for FCS are still accessible and compatible with FCS2.

Note to forum readers: There should not be a period after pdf but the forum software apparently can't separate it from the URL.
There may be some problems with Firefox 4 and 5 recognizing the latest PDF plugin (Adobe Reader X). • RealStrat and Kontakt 3 - How are they for you Logic 8/Mac Pro?

    Hi
I'm thinking on splurging on these two products to use in Logic 8 with an Intel Mac Pro. How are they for you? Do they work OK? I don't see too many negative comments here so I'm assuming that they're working OK. I'll go look the Native Instruments and MusicLab forums as well but thought there might be those here who could comment.
    Regards
    Graham

K3 works fine on my 8-core since version 3.01 - actually 3.02 is buggy again so don´t upgrade to the latest version of K3 which is 3.02.
If there would not be the annoying 2 Gigabyte RAM limit within 32-Bit applications I would be even happier, but if you need more Sample space just setup an additional K3 in standalone mode and wire it through the IAC Bus.
If you use it in multitimbral mode with multiple outputs you'll have to write any automation onto the assigned Aux tracks as automating the single Midi tracks for K3 does not work.
Altogether K3 is an awesome mashine with clear improvements compared to K2.

  • Clock problem and shutdown problem! Are they related?

Having a problem with my Dual 2 GHz Power Mac G5
A few days ago I noticed that my clock was not showing in the menu bar in the upper right corner of my desktop.
I went into System Preferences and went to Date & Time. Under the clock tab “Show Date and Time in Menu Bar” the box was not checked off. I checked it off and went to the “Date and Time” tab. The date and time was correct. I then checked the box “Click the lock to prevent further changes” to lock it. The date and time did not show up in the menu bar. I then went back to the tab “Show Date and Time in Menu Bar” and the box I checked was not checked off even thought the lock was still locked.
I then moved my cursor up to the menu bar in the upper right corner to see what would happen and the spinning beach ball started up but only for the original icons such as Bluetooth, Mobile Me (which I do not use), Time Machine, Spaces (doesn’t indicated the number when I switch Spaces, etc. The icons Norton Anti Virus and Tech Tool Pro in the menu bar are okay.
Also, when I attempt to shut down my computer the system clears the icons from my desktop except for a picture I have on my desktop and I get a gray wheel spinning and the system just hangs until I press and hold the on/off switch. I don’t know if the clock and shutdown problems are related.
The only new software I loaded recently was Skype with Logitech WebCam for the Mac and Quicken 2007 (Had a problem with Quicken 2006). They both are working okay.
And ideas on why I cannot get my clock to show up and my computer to shutdown?

You may have to consider a new post in the Hardware forum area for the computer
model and build/year; if there is a possibility of some basis the matter could be in
the machine and not the software running within it.
Your last two/three posts are in the Leopard 10.5(.8) forum area and do indicate
some kind of problem where troubleshooting the computer to discover if the matter
at hand would be either hardware or software based, may be the way to go.
The link to the 10.6 Snow Leopard forum won't be of help if your computer is a
PPC-based G5 tower, or other older pre-Intel configuration. And I remember
your earlier questions about the iMac G4 and some other issues in the past.
You may ask the moderators to put your post in a new thread of its own, in the
Leopard 10.5 area; so as to not 'piggy-back' another topic; even though some
of the odd issues you've had seem similar to this OP's topic line and appear to
    be in the same general series of hardware. {The question here seems valid.}
The routine suggestions to check, test, verify, and perhaps repair or replace
the system; save a bootable clone to suitable external standalone device if
testing a suspect computer's viability is recommended; and the basics if not
already tried to help isolate the issue(s) as you've posted elsewhere, may be
of some help to try and do; so in that matter, a new thread of your own is best
for your own directed feedback. Since this kind of advice applies to most any
situation, including troubleshooting what may be hardware or software, I'm
adding my two and three-tenths cents worth here.
Your original included Apple Hardware Test may be of some help, in the process
of elimination; but is not conclusive, so other methods would be also suggested.
Some ideas appear to cover the same ground. However, system corruption or
disc failure can also manifest itself in odd ways & affect things indirectly for a time.

So, at the risk of inadvertently alienating the OP, I am posting this as
a general help to following readers at some later time; and it may not
be too simple for a refresh course.
Some software issues can be resolved by repairing disk permissions,
and re-applying the last OS X update Combo file over the same one
already in the system; or if not up-to-date already, check & repair all
the general items and then apply the last Combo update.
A too-full hard disk drive can compromise the system integrity, so that
is a matter of course to keep up on what resources exist and remain
for the OS X to function correctly and for apps to multi-task together.
    However that works out...
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Mail database error and unknown folders - what are they?

Hi - Forgive an elementary question: I administer a small office network, but am NOT an IT expert!
We've been running OS X 10.5. server for quite some time and are now on 10.5.8 with client workstations all running 10.6.1. We've had a problem with a corrupt cyrus database reporting (amongst other things):-
"DBERROR db4: Database environment corrupt; the wrong log files may have been removed or incompatible database files imported from another environment"
This is well covered elsewhere, but despite downloading and running mailbfr I have not been able to get rid of the problem. However, my question is this: whilst rooting around the mail database I have found the following folders:
    var/spool/imap/^-^_-+^_-+^_-^-obscure
    var/spool/imap/^_-bingey
    var/spool/imap/^_-delegating
    var/spool/imap/^_-moustache
    var/spool/imap/^_-obscure
    var/spool/imap/^_-plebes
    var/spool/imap/^_-reinserting
Each of these folders has a cyrus.cache, cyrus.header and cyrus.index file inside. I can find no relevant search results when I check these folder names out with an internet search, so I'm wondering whether these folders should even be there? Have they been installed covertly, and if so can I remove them without further damaging our database?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Logic 9.1 and Apogee Ensemble. Are they working at 64 bit?

I have to take a new interface cause my Digi002 (Digi Core Audio) doesnt' work 64 bit. I was thinking about Apogee Ensemble. But I want to be sure I can work 64 bit. Is there anyone who's using L9.1 and Ensemble 64 bit without problems?

    Hi,
    1. All 64 bit plug-ins run 64 bit and haven't RAM limit anymore? And do they continue to use Logic internal RAM? (even without limits?) Or do they use external RAM in regard of Logic?
Yes, the app and all 64-bit plugins will be able to use all the memory that is available.
    2. All 32 bit plug-ins run 32 bit and continue to have RAM limit?
All 32-bit plugins are running in a separate application, the 32-bit AU bridge. This bridge and the mentioned plugins together are limited "the old way".

  • All notes just disappeared from "Notes" app on iPhone, iPad, Macbook Air and iCloud. Where are they?

For months they are there. Yesterday-- all gone! What the heck happened? Was it something I did? What can I do to get them back?

You will have to do more than simply changing settings in your moms account. To set up everything in your own account, go to Settings > iCloud > scroll down and press sign out. From this, check out this link for how to setup iCloud on all of your devices after making a new icloud account on your phone: https://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/
Before you set that up, you will have to make a new iCould account which you can simply do after you sign out of your mom's account on your devices.
    Hope I can help!

  • Whats up with Logic Being only sold from Apple and not retail . Are they about to drop Logic Pro?

What is up with Apple taking Logic Pro from the retail stores and only selling direct. Hope they are not about to drop Logic. The retailer I buy from has great tech support that I will more than likey no longer have since they can no longer carry the product.

Many IT insiders see Apple leading a shift in software distribution with the Mac App Store, that for example Microsoft will follow as soon as Win8 is out...
So basically it may well be that most of the Software will be bought direct in a couple of years and that Software Manufacturers may give up feeding their own channel, simply to cut cost and make it simple...
For support this indeed leaves a gap, but there are many examples in the IT world (ie. for Enterprise software, that has always been sold direct) how this gap will be filled: With guys that only provide service...
Logic is pretty darn cheap now, that leaves some space for 200 Bucks or so for a support contract, right?
Anyway, just my 2 cents, I can't see Logic going away anytime soon;-)

  • Why is Keynote, Pages, Numbers, and iPhoto all under the free category in the app store but say they cost money? Are they really free? Should I download them?

HELP! I need these softwares for educational purposes ASAP! I'm not sure whether or not I should purchase any of them, due to the fact they are under the free category, yet if I click each app they all say to "buy now" for a certain price. This is questionable to me, and I am unsure what the real cost of them are before I attempt to make any purchases or not. If anyone could let me know soon please, that'd be great. Or if there are any other trust worthy sites for a free download that would be great too if you could just list the process THANK YOU! (:

All Apple computer come with the iLife suite of App totally free and they are installed on your Mac by the factory when it was built and shipped.
Those iLife apps are iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand on Mac computers that came with any of the Download Only version of OS X, Lion Mt Lion and Mavericks and also include iDVD and iWeb on older Mac computers that came with OS X Snow Leopard or previous version of OS X.
If they are not already on your Mac then you can reinstall them from either the Mac App Store, for Mac's that came with Lion, Mt Lion or Mavericks, or from the Original System Reinstall DVD discs on older Mac that came with Snow Leopard or previous version of OS X.
You need to post what model year Mac you are using and whether or not you bought it new from Apple or an Autherised Apple reseller.
As for the iWork set of applications, Pages, Numbers and Keynote, those you need to buy from the Mac App Store unless you purchase your Mac New from Apple or an Authorized Apple reseller on or after October 21 2013.
So what model year Mac do you have and did you buy it new.

  • MACBook Pro and Aperture Academic. Are they compatable?

will a MACBook Pro and aperture work together. The software states that the hardware is inadequate?

Since the push is on to release a Universal Binary, and the new MacBook Pro is the only Intel Pro machine out, it seems the answer is onviously yes.
In the demo/preview of the Aperture 1.1 I went to on Tuesday, it was noted by the presenter that one upgrades to Ap 1.1 by having 1.0 installed, then running Software Update.
He then acknowledged that the original Aperture 1.0 installer disk would not normally install on the newer MBP - "we will have a way to allow an initial install on your MBP. then you will immediately run the Software Update to upgrade Aperture to 1.1 and thus the native Intel code."
It should also be noted that even under Rosetta the MBP rocks - a Photoshop CPU intensive test showed it only about 33% slower than the dual 2.0 G5 Powermacs!. And at the demo the presenter hinted that we would be very pleased with Aperture 1.1 performance on the new Intel chips.
I just bought one on an impulse purchase yesterday for a photo trip in April.
But everyone buying a MacBook Pro for Aperture use should be sure to get the 256 MB VIDEO CARD!

    The kernel failure panic kind of message points to some other activity;
as such, it may be there could be a conflict in some applications; as a
logical failure is indicated by the first part of the message content.
Whether or not any common kernel panic resolution ideas could work
in regard to the trigger of this action, is another matter & unresolved.
    Reading and understanding the resulting logs is part of this resolution;
the following link has information on these kinds of issues in general.
Technical Note TN2063: Understanding and Debugging Kernel Panics
    http://developer.apple.com/mac/library/technotes/tn2002/tn2063.html
    Resolving Kernel Panics:
    http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/kernelpanics.html
If there were more, perhaps from another error log in the system, to
point to other contributing factors in the cause of this action & report,
some course of correction could be indicated; should that involve a
reinstall of certain programs (and their update files, as Office has) or
perhaps removing other seldom used applications if they were proven
to be part of conflict in the system, with Office triggering its appearance.
Some troubleshooting of this issue may point to some course of action
and if the problem is only software-based, then it may involve testing
or moving, or reinstalling some applications. There is a chance, too,
that something else may be acting up at a low-level of the system. If
that were the case, sometimes a re-install of the system on a wiped
and zeroed drive would be a path to consider to test or resolve this.
But only after other things have been tried. If you have a full backup
of the computer's contents on a bootable external drive, that would be
a means of testing the computer itself.
    Good luck & happy computing!
