JDeveloper 9.0.3 & Java 1.4.2

Hi ,
I'm having problems installing JDeveloper.
I'm running Oracle9ias StandAlone, but have upgraded the JDK to 1.4.2.
All runs OK, the JDK is now in <Oracle_home>/jdk
I then unzip JDeveloper into C:/JDev as per documentation. When I try to start JDeveloper i receive the error message
"Cannot find a J2SE SDK installed at the path ..\..\jdk"
I installed the Base Install (complete install without documentation and JDK) of JDeveloper
Any help would be appreciated .
Nige

Errrr... OK, I've worked it out. Must have SetJavaHome c:\OC4J\jdk in the jdev.conf
Sorry for the trouble...

At first I thought maybe this is a configuration specific problem -- but I was able to replicate this on two separate machine with clean Win2K and Oracle9i installs.
It seems like it is not finding a particular class, which leads me to believe that some particular jar is probably missing -- can anyone help me figure out which one? Or is there something else that may be going wrong?
    TIA

You need to make sure you're using the Oracle9i JDBC driver, or using the Oracle 8.1.7.2 JDBC driver as I mentioned above.
If you are using JDeveloper9i release 9.0.2 or 9.0.3, the driver you need is in <jdevhome>\jdbc\lib
Otherwise, you can also download the drivers from OTN.

  • JDeveloper 10.1.2 java problems

Old ADF UIX project has been received and JDeveloper 10.1.2 is the last of JDeveloper series that has support for ADF UIX. The problems begin with the java class files, where JDeveloper doesn't understand simple import declarations, override annotations, enum classes and so on. Have tried with 1.4.2/1.5.0_06/1.5.0_18 jdk versions, but it's always the same. The application is working on OAS 10.1.3.5 server and it works on 1.5.0_18 jre, so going for newer jdk is not possible. Previous devs are like turtles in shells and don't want to provide any info about management of this application. At the moment i feel dumb as hell, because JDeveloper isn't my daily IDE, especially such old version. Maybe some one can help on this issue, because throwing "Class/Interface: unexpected token" on whole enum class is dumb as hell from IDE.
The same code can be compiled on newest eclipse with jdk 1.5.0_18.

The app is being used in production and the customer won't pay for its upgrade at the moment, so I have to stick with what I have. The same enum is working and so on compiled version, but I have no clue how previous developer did that if IDE is being so stubborn. It uses Ant tasks, but Ant tasks only can be run from 10.1.3.3 version on JDeveloper. In 10.1.2 it throws up all the make errors, runs half of ant tasks after and doesn't produce war/ear file. Build file is out of question, it's something related to this IDE that it doesn't work right. I would stick with eclipse, but there isn't any graphical editors and so on, that JDeveloper has. I even went back to Windows XP, because it works with glitches on newer OS.
LindaInci , i have read all of the existing links. As far they still exist.  My goal is to compile it to deplyoable war/ear.

  • Jdeveloper 11g web service - java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError

    Hi,
I've just installed JDeveloper 11 preview 3. I'd like to perform this http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe11jdev/11/ws/ws.html tutorial, but when I test web service, I get java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError.
Attached is the complete server log.
Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be?
    Thanks

  • JDeveloper design-time exception (java.lang.IllegalArgumentException)

Using JDev 11.1.1.3; to speed up the chart renders in pages, we've switched the chart from dynamic-size to fixed-size which brings the chart in 1 - 2 seconds quicker which is good, but in order to continue supporting expand/reduce functionality (requested by user via af:commandImageLink press) the width on the chart is set via EL or managed-bean. Either way, now when we load up the page in JDeveloper we get ...

Is there some way to turn this off, or is it considered a bug to be fixed, or should we (despite the fact the run-time works) consider this bad design. (NB: client rates performance highly and the improvement delivered here important).

    Hi,
exception:java.lang.IllegalArgumentException.1 .This means that u passed an illegal or inappropriate argument to some method.
page first loads then the error appears, if I go to
next page and come back to the initial page, then the
applet works!2. This means that the value of the argument u are passing changes between init, start, stop of the Applets methods.
3.So u should be checking the values of the arg are passing .

  • JDeveloper 11g and 64bit Java

    Hi everyone.
I have just installed JDeveloper 11g on my 64bit CentOS machine and everything worked as expected.
Then I tried to use my 64bit JDK version 1.6.0.10 and after a little bit of tampering with the installation directories I was able to do that too.
All it took was to link the $JDEV_HOME/jdk160_05 directory to the location of the actual JDK installation.
To be honest I did not notice any changes in terms of speed.
So my question is whether a 64 bit JDK is officially supported and if the whole 64 bit issue is worth it at all.
    Thanassis

    Hi,

I had the JDeveloper 10.1.3 also and it went ahead with some updates and now even that shows me that it's version is JDK 1.5
The latest error I get from JDeveloper(From both 11g and 10.1.3) is here,

  • Oracle JDeveloper 10g with Sun Java App server

I have oracle JDeveloeper 10g and sun App Server 8. I want to find out if JDeveloper can create entity beans that can run on Sun app server.
I know that sun app server uses things like sun-cmp-mapping.xml and sun-ejb-jar.xml. If i create these as normal in JDeveloper would they run on sun app server? if not what configuration do i need to do?

Sun Java App Server 8 doesn't ship with the Apache Tomcat jk/jk2 connector. But you can download Tomcat 5 and install it. Copy ${catalina_home}/server/lib/tomcat-jk2.jar under $s1as_home}/lib
Now Sun Java App Server 8 will have the code required. Then you will need to start the jk connector (this is the most difficult task). Since you don't have any API to start this connector to listen (in Tomcat, the connector is started by default and listen on port 8009), the only way for you to start it is to use JMX. Pick one of the available JMX client ( jmx-ri is a good candidate), and do:
    (1) create the connector
    (2) start the connector
Then follow the Jakarta Tomcat instruction on how to install Apache and JK2.
I didn't spend the time to find the exact command for JMX, but technically it should work. Once I have time I will take a look (The Tomcat 5 Admin Gui uses JMX, so by browing the code you should find the exact JMX command)
    Hope that help.

  • JDeveloper 10.1.3. java.security.PrivilegedActionException calling OC4J WS

    I'm using JDeveloper 10.1.3
I've created a Web Service from a PL/SQL function using JDeveloper. The Web Service is running within the embedded OC4J app server. I can (using provided URL) open a browser and invoke the WS correctly.
I've built a Web Service Stub against the WS using JDeveloper but when I try to call the Web Service i get the following exception

         ... 2 more
    NOTES
    a) The Web Service is running when I try this.
    b) The Web Service can be invoked by clicking on the supplied URL in the output window.
    c) I've tried it with & without Proxy settings - it's on the same PC so shouldn't need them anyway.
There's nothing showing up in the Web Service output window when I invoke the Stub.
I've written just one line of code and have built the Web Service & Stub using JDeveloper so can't see why it doesn't work.

    Aimey,
Having recently gone through this exercise, I might be able to help.
Let me begin by stating that the server keystore (server.jks) should contain the private serversign and serverenc keys and the public key for the client in use. The CA is not necessarily required, but it does make adding additional public keys easier.
1a)It uses the private key specified in the keystore options
1b)Under outbound confidentiality is where you specify to use the client supplied certificate (the client's public key) to encrypt
    1c) see 1b)
2a) You do. You need to set the client to use x509
    2b) you are correct
    2c) you are also correct
    2d) again, you are correct.
What you did not state (and it is very important) is that on the Encrypt tag, you use the serverenc alias. This is in the client keystore as a public certificate. Without the use of the public serverenc certificate, you cannot encrypt your outbound message.
So the exchange pattern looks like this:
Client -- creates message, signs using the private client key, encrypts using the public serverenc key, transmits
Server -- receives message, checks signature against the client public key, decrypts using the private serverenc key, processes, encrypts using the serverenc private key, signs using the client public key, and then transmits
Client -- receives response, checks signature against the client private key, decrypts using the public serverenc key, and returns value
Your description of your client and server keys is insufficient to help with any further problems you have, but I hope this explanation of the message exchange pattern (MEP) was helpful.

  • Any JDeveloper tutorial suggestions for Java/OOP newbie

I know SQL and basics of OOP. Have Oracle 10g and JDev installed. Got up to Chapter 4 of the on-line JJavaEE tutorial ( http://download-west.oracle.com/otndocs/products/jdev/10131/JavaEE_tutorial.pdf ), but then got lost after that. Too complex of an example app and not enough explainations of WHY the steps were to be taken in the tutorial. Anyone know of a SIMPLE tutorial that would be good to use with JDeveloper?
    Paul Peterson

There is a bunch of tutorials linked from the JDeveloper home page on OTN: http://oracle.com/technology/jdev
I would suggest to start with the following 3:
    Get to know the IDE:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe1013jdev/10131/introide/introjdevide.htm
    Get to know ADF:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe1013jdev/10131/masterdetail_adf_bc/master-detail_pagewith_adf_bc.htm
    Get deeper into ADF:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/ADFBC_tutorial_1013/10131/index.htm
But you should also check all the rest there.

Oracle of any issues related to this article.
    PURPOSE
This article describes the "Enterprise Java Beans" (EJB), "Java Server Pages"
(JSP) and servlets Application Programming Interfaces (API) supported by the
Oracle products, Jdeveloper, Internet Application Server (IAS) and the Oracle
RDBMS release 2 and release 3, also known as Version 8.1.6 and 8.1.7,
    respectively.
    SCOPE & APPLICATION
All parties interested in the Java API's supported by these products.
Java API's supported in the Jdeveloper, IAS, and RDBMS product components
    JDEVELOPER
JDEVELOPER is Oracle's Java development tool designed for coding / development,
testing / debugging, and deployment of Java Applications to the IAS and
    RDBMS platforms.
With the java software api's being in a constant state of evolution, each new
release of Jdeveloper adds support for the "then current" version of the java
software api's, if it does not already have it implemented.

The IAS product contains two Java Virtual Machines (JVM) within it's
    architecture.
    They are called :
    1) APACHE JSERV servlet engine
    2) ORACLE ENTERPRISE JAVA ENGINE (EJE)
    APACHE JSERV servlet engine
The APACHE JSERV servlet engine is an EXISTING product licensed from the
apache group which supports the servlet api 2.0.ONLY.
The APACHE JSERV product does not support ANY JSP's unless the customer
installs a third party jsp engine.
The IAS 8i/9i which has the APACHE JSERV product embedded in it, comes with
Oracle's JSP engine (OJSP) already integrated into it. OJSP supports JSP's up
to the specific JSP engine version documented in the Oracle Universal
Installer (OUI) for the 8.1.7 RDBMS or the IAS products. It is also documented
    in the product's release notes.
    Oracle ENTERPRISE JAVA ENGINE (EJE)
The EJE formerly known as :
    1) Oracle 8i Java Virtual Machine (JVM)
    2) JSERVER component,
    3) Aurora JVM
was originally releas ed in the RDBMS 8.1.5 database with jdk 1.1.6 based java
    support.
The currently supported versions of the Oracle 8i RDBMS, versions 2 and 3,
also known as Version 8.1.6 and 8.1.7, respectively, provides a jdk 1.2.1
    based java virtual machine support.
    "EJE" Version 816
This EJE, found in rdbms 8.1.6 and IAS 8i, contains support for the ejb
api 1.0, corba, and java stored procedures.
    "EJE" Version 817
This EJE, found in rdbms 8.1.7 and IAS 9i, contains support for the ejb,
corba, and java stored procedures as well as the Oracle Servlet Engine (OSE)
which provides support for the servlets 2.2 api and JSP 1.1 api.
    Note :
EJB support in the "EJE" Version 817 has been upgraded to comply with the EJB
1.1 api specification which includes "entity beans" support.
What is the bottom line ??
    1) Servlets deployed to the APACHE JSERV must comply with servlet api 2.0.
    2) Servlets 2.1 or higher are only supported in EJE's OSE component found in
the rdbms 817 or ias 9i products. Servlets api 2.0 can also run in the OSE.

which jvm is used by jserv ?? EJE or a separate jdk ?
The Jserv servlet engine is running in a separate jdk JVM external to the EJE jvm which is embedded within the "database" component of ias and the RDBMS.
See the reference below for more details ...
if jserv only support old apis, why it is in oracle's products ?
i would assume that the oracle servlet engine was under development when ias 8i was released and became available in time for the ias 9i and rdbms 817 products.
looking back in history leads me to believe ias 8i was a migration path to get to ias 9i or rdbms 817.
Based upon the long history of new releases of every oracle product being upgraded with new features, it's reasonable to assume that these products will continue to evolve.
when I deploy a jsp how to deploy in the right servlet container ("EJE") ?
as documented in the reference below, you can deploy JSP's to either the apache jserv jvm or the EJE since the ORACLE JSP engine functionality is in both jvm's.
there are many posts where you can see that people have deploy in jserv and they have problems because they don't use the right container (servlet 2.0 instead of
    servlet 2.2) http://technet.oracle.com:89/ubb/Forum2/HTML/006349.html
when ias 8i came out this was clearly an issue since servlet support was at api 2.0, and the current servlet api was probably at 2.1.
oracle clearly made every effort to get ias 9i released quickly to supply a servlet 2.1 and 2.2 capable engine to resolve this issue.
since ias 9i and rdbms 8.1.7 are available this is no longer an issue.
The reference below explains the architecture and understanding it would eliminate a lot of "deploy to the wrong ias 9i component" issues.
so why jserv is bundled with oracle 8i/9ias since EJE support the right api version ?
if in ias 9i release , oracle had removed the jserv component without any advance warning, many customers would have been very upset since oracle makes every attempt to give advance notice before removal of functionality.

  • Can not print with jdeveloper because of java exception!

    Hi Gurus!
I've installed jdeveloper 11 on Fedora 8 Linux. See the installationparameters below:

    Hi Guys!
I've found the solution by my self. It's not a specific jdeveloper problem but it's a java problem. Then first exception
sun.print.IPPPrintService.isAttributeValueSupported(IPPPrintService.java:1147)point to a problem between java and cups. If someone is using "automatic rotation" an the job options tab for a print the java is not able to show a printer dialog. The only thing to do is change form automatic rotation to another value and java has no more problem.
May be this will help somebody else!
    regards

  • Java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError in JDeveloper standalone CMSDK application

When I try to run my standalone Content Management application on my development PC against a Content Management SDK deployed on another server (using jvm runtime parameters as in CM WebStarterApp II -DIFS.DOMAIN.Name=ifs://xtorc1:1521:test:CMSDK -DIFS.STANDALONE.Mode=true -DIFS.SCHEMA.PASSWORD=welcome), I got " IFS-20103: Unable to get sessions". When I debug the code, I notice the actual error as following:(I've tested it using JDeveloper versions 10.1.2 and 9.0.4)
    (in JDeveloper 10.1.2):
java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: int oracle.jdbc.driver.T2CConnection.t2cCreateState(byte[], int, byte[], int, byte[], int, short, int, short[], byte[], byte[])
    (in JDeveloper 9.0.4):
    java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: int oracle.jdbc.oci8.OCIDBAccess.make_c_state(boolean)
I've checked the metalink and the forums, however nothing helped me solve the problem so far. It seems like the JDeveloper is confusing the oci driver (the dll's) somehow, however I checked my PATH in my environment, everything seems OK.
I was trying to run a standalone IFS (CM SDK) web application in development machine,
in JDeveloper's embedded OC4J server, against the CM SDK domain on another
server where the Application Server resides. The logon page appears and after
submitting the form the following piece of code returns the error:
    String schemaPassword = System.getProperty("IFS.SCHEMA.PASSWORD");
    String domainName = System.getProperty("IFS.DOMAIN.Name");
    try
//the exception is caused by the following line
    m_LibraryService = LibraryService.startService(serviceName, schemaPassword,
    null, domainName);
    catch (Throwable e)
// the exception is caught here
    Any ideas??
    Özgür

I see that you're doing your conection using oci8; I had the same problem and my solution was changed to thin
    For example: jdbc:oracle:thin:@IP_ADDRESS:PORT:SID
I hope it can help to you
