JDeveloper installation on WindowsXP Multiuser environment

Hello,
I've got a problem installing JDEveloper 10.1.3.3.0 on a WindowsXP multiuser environment.
I downloaded and extracted the archive into the C:\Programme directory (where it belongs) as admin user and I can start it without problems as long as I'm logged in as admin (despite the fact that a JDK 1.5 is already installed).
But when I try to start JDeveloper with a normal user account (without admin rights) from there I only get the splash screen progressing a little bit and nothing else happening afterwards.
So JDeveloper does not start for me within the account I want to use it with!
How can I manage to start JDeveloper for normal users on that WindowsXP system?
Does anybody have any hints on this?
Many thanks in advance!
Best Regards

It is recommended to unzip JDeveloper in a directory
without spaces. Windows installs all programs into
C:\Program Files, this one has a space in between. So
make sure you unzip into C:\oracle\jdeveloper or
something like that. Also make sure as admin grant
full permits to windows users, read, write and
execute.It is, I installed it into C:\Programme\JDeveloper.
Do you mean I'll have to give these rights for normal users to the JDeveloper directory!?
This is completely contradictory to the idea behind the restricted accounts in Windows!
Best Regards

  • Jdeveloper installation - installer problem

I am trying to install jdeveloper (jdevstudio11116install.exe) in a new bea home, in which I have already successfully installed weblogic 10.3.6 with oepe, osb and soa.
After I choose the middleware home directory, the error says:
"The product maintenance level of the current installer (Weblogic Server: 10.3.5.0) is not compatible with the maintenance level of the product installed on your system (Weblogic Server: 10.3.6.0) . Please obtain a compatible installer or perform maintenance on your current system to achieve the desired level".
I tried to install jdeveloper11115 on the same installation, but the error is the same. Is there something wrong with the order of the installation?
If I provide a different folder it is ok, but a new weblogic installation is required, which is not an option. Is there another version of jdeveloper that would 'sit' on the existing 10.3.6 installation?
I found similar posts, but they regard upgrading. I am installing from scratch. I do not want to update/upgrade. I have done this without a problem with previous versions (10.3.4 and 10.3.5) of middleware in the same machine. What has changed?

There is no Jdeveloper installation for 11.1.1.6 coupled with WLS 10.3.6. It comes with WLS 10.3.5 only . You will have to install WLS 10.3.6 separately if you need it.
    Quoting Chris Muir from https://blogs.oracle.com/onesizedoesntfitall/entry/adf_runtimes_vs_wls_versions
Note with the release of JDeveloper 11.1.1.6.0 there is a subtle change in the ADF Runtime to WLS version pairing. The latest ADF Runtimes 11.1.1.6.0 can run against WLS 10.3.6 and 10.3.5.
This is the first time in the 11.1.1.X branch we've seen a version run on two versions of WLS.
As such if you have a 10.3.5 WLS server or have just installed WLS 10.3.6 you can also happily install the 11.1.1.6.0 ADF Runtimes on either.
Customers need to be careful though as this does not imply the opposite.
If you install WLS 10.3.6, only the ADF Runtimes 11.1.1.6.0 are certified, the 11.1.1.5.0 ADF Runtimes are not (though the 11.1.1.5.0 ADF Runtimes are still of course certified against WLS 10.3.5).For your issue see -

  • About Document IDS in multiuser environment

I am developing an online application using oracle 8.0.5 , it is a multiuser environment , what is the best method to code about generating the number of documents from multiple places , how we can lock the number (document number e.g. Purchase Order) generated for one to another , please tell advice me the best & feasible approach to handle the tie of a mnumber from different sites and handeling of cancelation of any generated number from one person and alloting it to other users
    thanks

Its bad because global variabels will be used and changed by different users at same time.
This will lead to variuos problem like user1 setting the variabel, user2 seting it , user1 using it with the value user2 set.

    Hi guys,
Thanks for the suggestions, but unfortunately no change.
Shay - I've tried setting & exporting DISPLAY=<My PC's IP>:0.0, but it makes no difference. As I understand it, this variable is only relevant when using XWindows, and as this server has no graphics card, that's not an option for me. I'm just using the text-based mode.
Vinod - No anti-virus software installed as yet.
Any other thoughts? I tried running with the -version flag, but this offered no further clues. Is there a way of running the installer verbosely or in debug mode?
    Thanks

  • JDeveloper Installation and sevlet deployment

I need some guidance as to how to install JDeveloper3.0 on a machine which already has a webserver (NES 4.0) installed on it. Currently I have installed it in default fashion, but it just won't let me run a servlet from JDeveloper Environment. If installation is not a problem then please could I have some other workaround to this problem.

    Nikhil,
Is this a port conflict between the built-in webserver and your external webserver?
Can you run the servlet in JDev after you shutdown your webserver?
FYI: You can configure some properties(like Port #) of the built-in webtogo server by modifying <JDev>\lib\webtogo.ora

  • 10g Installation on WindowsXP

    Hello,
I recently downloaded the 10g Database CD and burned it on a CD. When I try to install it to my WindowsXP-machine the Installation stops with the following error-message: "Error in writing to directory 'c:\documents and settings\tschmale\local settings\temp\orainstall2004xxx'. Please ensure that this directory is writable and has at least 45MB of disk space. Installation cannot continue".
I double-insured that there is enough disk-space and I am also in the Administrators-Group.
A DOS-Box in the background also says, that JRE is missing in the scratch path, so I installed the Java J2RE-Package. But the error still exists.
    What is wrong with this?
    Thanks in advance, Thorsten

    Has nobody an idea?
I'm going to post the complete error-messages:

  • Multiple shared services installs in the same environment?

In IOP 11.1.2 and beyond, shared services handles user authentication, to take advantage of Active Directory.
Can you install EPM shared services on 2 nodes in the same environment (failover in case one goes down)?
    Is this possible or recommended?
    Thank you.

I posted this message also in the Forum: Server & Storage Systems: Administration - General : Installation.
I'll also double-check the install documentation. A quick google of "EPM Shared Services" and some choice keywords revealed a link to this:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-foundation/epm-hss-active-active-clusters-wp-1-132647.pdf
Note that one of the instructions in the active-active-clusters white paper is to install shared services on two nodes, to prevent a single point of failure.
This location http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-foundation includes EPM DR instructions.
    Highly recommended reading.
I apologize to the group for wasting the bandwidth on this question.
    Thank you.

  • JDeveloper Installation Problem

    Hi,
We are trying to install Jdevloper on machine which is having OS as Windows 2003 SP2 and JDK 5 update 9.
But during installation we are getting error as *"Could not find the Main class. Program will exit"*
we are using jar file for installation of Jdevloper.
    Please help.
    Regards,
    Rahul

    Hi Rahul
By default if you use .exe to install JDeveloper it will install 32 bit. But looks like you want to install using .JAR installer, so I assume you want this for 64 bit JDK. Either way, the below command should work:
    java -jar jdevstudio11115install.jar
Incase if you still get the error, may be the installer is corrupted while downloading. So just download the .JAR file again and try the above command.
    Thanks

  • JDeveloper installation appears to have the wrong Persistence class

I'm trying to use EJBs for the first time, and have run into a problem initialising an EntityManagerFactory. The examples I've been looking at use something like:
    EntityManagerFactory emf = Persistence.createEntityManagerFactory("<persistence unit name>");
However, this gives me a compilation error. In my installation, the only valid forms of javax.persistence.Persistence.createEntityManager take no parameters, and a Map parameter, respectively.
I can't find any documentation on these forms of procedure!
I'm using JDeveloper 10.1.3.0.4, EJB 3.0, J2SE 1.5.0_05. The version of the Persistence class my project is using is in <jdev_home>\j2ee\home\lib\persistence.jar
    Any help will be appreciated.

It's almost certainly some kind of version issue, but my JDeveloper explicitly supports EJB 3.0, so it must be possible to get it working. The biggest problem is that I can't find any documentation whatsoever of the version of the Persistence class I have, let alone examples of using it.
Ideally, I'd like to know which version of which libraries I need to upgrade to to use the current specification, and whether I can do this without corrupting my JDev installation. But I'd settle for just finding out how the version I do have is supposed to work.

  • Installation problem with Composition Environment 7.1 SR3 - Trial Version

    Hi guys,
I'm installing that 1.6G version of Composite Environment. I encountered the following error just after I accepted the license agreement.
An error occurred while processing service SAP NetWeaver CE Developer Edition > SAP NetWeaver CE Development System( Last error reported by the step :The subkey 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\DGAPIMon' does not exist on the 'localhost' host.). You may now
choose Retry to repeat the current step.
choose View Log to get more information about the error.
stop the task and continue with it later.
Log files are written to C:\Program Files/sapinst_instdir/CE71_DEV_ADA/INSTALL.
I'd appreciate it very much if you could help me

    Hi,
    1. See to it that all previous instances of SAP trial versions of sw have been removed from your PC/laptop.
    2. Remove your laptop from any network and install Ms- loop back adapter or have a it connect to a network with proper IP.
    3. Have your DHCP enabled.
Let us know if above suggestions worked for you.
    Cheers!!

  • Hyperion EPM Installation in a distributed environment...

    Hi all,
I am planning to install Hyperion products in a distributed environment. I have three machines say, Machine A, Machine B, Machine C. All of the machines have Windows 2003 operating system. And only Machine B and Machine C have Application Server installed. Now I give a brief structure as what machine holds which products-
    Machine A:-
    Oracle 11g
    Essbase Server
    Machine B:-
    Foundation Services- Shared Services
    Essbase Studio
    Essbase Integration Services
    Smart Search
    Administration Services
    Provider Services
    Habnet
    Essbase Client
    Machine C:-
    EPMA
    Planning
    Workspace
I create a separate database for each component, say, to configure Essbase I have Hyess database, to configure Planning I have Hyplan database.
And I configure Shared Services to the same database, say, Hyshs from each machine. In that case I just follow the previously congigured database.
Machine B and Machine C components are deployed to their respective Application Server.
Can anyone please tell me if this is proper or not? Any kind of modification or recommendation would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi John,
thanks for your response. Yes, the Process Manager does not start. I had a look at the Event Viewer. And it shows error and the error properties description is something like this-

  • Are there any timesten installation for data warehouse environment?

    Hi,
I wonder if there is a way to install timesten as an in memory database for data warehouse environment?
The DW today consist of a large Oralcle database and I wonder if and how a timesten implementation can be done.
what kind of application changes involve with such an implementation and so on?
I know that the answer is probably complex but if anyone knows about such an implementation and some information about it , it would be great to learn from that experience.
    Thanks,
    Adi

    Adi,
It depends on what you want to do with the data in the TimesTen database. If you know the "hot" dataset that you want to cache in TimesTen, you can use Cache Connect to Oracle to cache a subset of your Oracle tables into TimesTen. The key is to figure out what queries you want to run and see if the queries are supported in TimesTen.
Assuming you know the dataset you need to cache and you have control of your application code to change the connection to TimesTen (using ODBC or JDBC), you can give it a try. If you are using a third party tool, you need to see if the tool supports JDBC or ODBC access to the database and change the tool to point to your TimesTen database instead of the Oracle database.
If you are using the TimesTen Cache Connect to Oracle product option, data synchronization between Oracle and TimesTen is handled automatically by the product.
Without further details of what you'd like to do, it's difficult to provide more detailed recommendation.
