Jdeveloper version corresponding to web center version

hi,
i checked web center version on my server is: 11.1.1.4.0
[using select version from wc_repository_version query after logging into webcenter schema]
just wanted to confirm which jdev version will be suitable to build applications for this webcenter version?
when i check here - http://www.oracle.com/ocom/groups/public/@otn/documents/webcontent/156082.xml
for WebCenter Framework and Services Design Time extension:
11.1.1.4.0.120306.2202     oracle.studio (min=11.1.1.5.37.60.13, max=11.1.1.5.99)
oracle.j2ee (min=11.1.1.5.37.60.13, max=11.1.1.5.99)
for 11.1.1.4 webcenter, latest extension available is for jdev 11.1.1.5.
similarly for WebCenter Customization Framework Design Time extension:
11.1.1.4.0.120306.2202     oracle.studio (min=11.1.1.5.37.60.13, max=11.1.1.5.99)
oracle.j2ee (min=11.1.1.5.37.60.13, max=11.1.1.5.99)
oracle.webcenter.app (min=11.1.1.4.0.120306.2202, max=11.1.1.4.0.120306.2202)
for 11.1.1.4 webcenter, latest extension available is for jdev 11.1.1.5.
my questions are:
1. does this means jdev 11.1.1.5 is suitable for me?? is this the right way of confirming jdev version?
2. does jdev version matter? i think it does. as i have jdev 11.1.1.6 and application created on this jdev was giving deployment issues on my webcenter server deployment issue of webcenter portal application i had to comment few libraries manually to get it working...
3. shall we upgrade webcenter version to 11.1.1.6? will there be licensing issues? and more importantly, what advantages are with 11.1.1.6 version?
thanks for help.
cheers.

You should always be in line with the version numbers.
When you use WebCenter 11.1.1.4, you should use JDev 11.1.1.4,
When you use WebCenter 11.1.1.6, you should use JDev 11.1.1.6 etc.
The version number of WebCenter might be misleading at times.
Could you check the version number with the About page (if using spaces)
The enterprise manager (...:7001/em) might report 11.1.1.4.0 when in fact the WebCenter version is 11.1.1.6
New features of WebCenter Spaces are described here
Lot of these features apply for your custom application as well.
It's always advisable to upgrade to the latest release as more bugs will be fixed.
Kind regards,
Rob

    Hi, Appreciate your quick response.
I am installing web center ofm_wc_generic_11.1.1.2.0_disk1_1of1.zip
after few steps got a screen says that install & configure ucm
I am pointing to ofm_ucm_generic_10.1.3.5.1_disk1_1of1.zip extracted location
    i got error this error
INST-07301: Specified UCM installer is not found.
Even though if I point the error stops installation
    Appreciate quick response.

You probably haven't pointed to the right folder. Check the documentation and go up a few levels if you're too far down the file path. I ran into a similar error.
Also, UCM 11g is certified with WebCenter 11g now too, so you may want to install that instead. There's some Support notes on Metalink on how to hook the two of them up.

  • Oracle Strategy for the UIX & BC4J in the new JDeveloper version

What is Oracle Strategy for the UIX & BC4J in the new JDeveloper version:
    - Like DataBinding
    - BC4J Integration
    - UIX controller
    - Internationalization
    - Supporting for Palm, phone and pager.

    Hi,
Are these questions all BC4J specific?
General databinding info is discussed here:
What's the developement direction of UIX?
For BC4J/UIX integration, in 9.0.5 we will continue to support our existing api's, but you can also use uix as the view and bc4j as the model in adf, which is described here:
    http://otn.oracle.com/products/jdev/htdocs/905/sod_otn.html#adf
Aside from bug fixes, I don't think there are major changes in the controller/internationization. Did you have specific questions about the controller and internationalization?
We are planning to support Palm web browser 2.0, but due to the timing of the release of a platform that supports it and our own schedules, I don't think it will be officially supported in the 9.0.5 release. We won't have phone or pager support in 9.0.5.

  • OAS 10G (10.1.2.0.0) / Certified JDeveloper Version?

    Hello!
I want to upgrade to the latest OAS Version 10g (10.1.2.0.0), but i don't know, what JDeveloper version is certified for developing and deploying J2EE - applications on 10.1.2.0.0 ?
e.g. it seems that JDeveloper 10g (9.0.5.2) uses as embedded oc4j-container version 10g(9.0.4.0.0) and not version 10g(10.1.2).
    Thank you!
    Harald.

    Harald,
this doesn't limit your ability ot deploy to a higher version of Oracle Application Server. The embedded OC4J is used for testing purposes. If you want to test with OC4J 10.1.x then you can install it stand-alone and test against this instace from JDeveloper

  • Jdeveloper version and ADF runtime on weblogic

    Hi
I would need to understand the link between the jdeveloper version and the Weblogic version.
    Based on this article http://tompeez.wordpress.com/2011/09/14/jdeveloper-versions-vs-weblogic-server-versions/
it sounds like the server version to use is directly linked to the version of ADF used for the development. It is true?
Specially is it true that there is not backward compatibility. A new weblogic server would not support a application that would have been developed with a older version of jdeveloper?
At the end I would like to get all my weblogic servers on the same version and as much possible on the newest version but if I need to rework the applications that were developed on a previous version of ADF , that can be really time consuming.
I would need best practice ideas .
When I have various projects oven a two -three years period how should we deal with keeping up with the new versions of weblogic and jdeveloper?
An another question I have is regarding the ADF run time. What is so special about it comparing to a regular set of libraries?. Why can I not deploy it as part of my application? Or is it possible and it is a better path then?
FInal point, I have a application that was developed with jdeveloper 11.1.1.0 and run on weblogic 10.3.0.0 . I would like to migrate to jdeveloper 11.1.1.4. I already converted the project with jdeveloper 11.1.1.4. What should I do next? What testing should I do to verfy the conversion worked? Should I update the weblogic server to 10.3.4 or can I go with a newer version like 10.3.5?
    Thanks

Ok but then if you don't migrate and you are in a environment with also new development you are going to need many different servers no?
One welogic server for jdevleoper 11.1.0.0
One weblogic server for jdeveloper 11.1.2.0
One weblogic server for jdeveloper 11.1.3.0
One weblogic server for jdeveloper 11.1.4.0
How often should you migrate then because if you don't update you could be very behind after a couple of years and may be the migration could be almost impossible at that point.
We still have applications that where developed for oc4j 10 g and migration is almost rewrite at this point. (only after 3 years).
At the end, you get servers dedicated to some applications instead of having a stack of multi purpose servers.
Also let say you are starting with a project that is going to take two years, you start the developement with jdeveloper 11.1.5.0 and in two years it will jdeveloper 13.1.1.0. How do you manage this? You stay with 11.1.5.0?
We noticed that getting support for 10 g is really difficult at this point. Many people don't know anymore about 10 g and you don't get bug fix. If you don't get bug fix, how can you survive with your old version?
I know that ADF is not only about the face part, I 've been using the business services too but under ADF it is J2EE and then why ADF does not come as a set of libraries that you can link to in your J2EE project instead of becoming a server centric runtime?
People went to J2EE to get plateform independent, with ADF you are becoming server dependant. ADF is supposed to do better than .net but if you look at .net the IDE actually support old and new frameworks. If you get to develop on a older framework you can still use the new IDE. Also you can install several versions of the framework on the same server with .net.
From what I can read ADF is not even supported on JBOSS anymore so give me argument to choose ADF as a enterprise solution? Is it really the future?

  • Why Jdeveloper Version 10.1.3.3  and  10.1.3.5  settings folder?

    Hello Everybody,
I am new to JDeveloper IDE. I wanted to know why the JDeveloper versions 10.1.3.3 and 10.1.3.5 do not create a settings folder named 'JDeveloper' under "C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data" path? In JDeveloper 11g preview release this folder is created when the IDE is run for the first time. I am using the 10g version as it has embedded OC4J server. I need the above mentioned settings folder to configure Oracle MapViewer.ear.
If there is way to make the IDE create this settings folder under "C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data" kindly let me know? Or if any workarounds?
    Regards,
    Shiva

do u have this done in your home system
In this case you should can change the directory per 11g installation by setting the ide.user.dir property (use forward slashes) in the <middleware install dir>\jdeveloper\jdev\bin\jdev.boot file or add it to the startup script with -J-Dide.user.dir=<some directory>.

  • JDeveloper version numbers and OC4J version numbers

    Hi all,
I know that the version numbers of the Oracle application server and the OC4J plugin are the same the default, but how is that with JDeveloper compared to the OC4J version of the embedded JDeveloper application server.
Is it the same always and if not where can I find a mapping table. E.g. is for JDeveloper version 10.1.3 also the OC4J container version 10.1.3 etc.
    regards,
    Ronald

    Ronald,
yes, Oracle JDeveloper versions are in synch with OC4J and 10.1.3 JDeveloper uses OC4J 10.1.3.

  • Export Sourcing (PON) pages using JDeveloper version 10.1.3.39.81

    Dear all,
Could please any one tell me how to export the XML pages for the sourcing module (PON), from R12 using JDeveloper version 10.1.3.39.81
Looking forward to see your replies.
    Thanks

First of all, make sure you use Patch 5856648 "10g Jdev with OA Extension" for all your R12 related work. No other Jdev is compatible.
For export you can either the export.bat command from the Jdev directory or the XMLExporter command from the unix environment.
Check the OAF Dev guide, section "Deploying Personalizations" for more details on these commands.

  • Oracle BPEL Server version 10.1.3.4.0  - which JDeveloper version?

    Hi,
I am working on a Beehive project, that has a BPEL 10.1.3.4.0 server integrated. Is there a restriction concerning the JDeveloper version to use for development? I am currently using JDev 11.1.1.2.0 , but noticed that there is no possibilty to directly deploy to an OC4J connection type. So I figured that there might be incompatibilities.
    Thanks for any pointers.
    Bettina

According to me JDeveloper versions 10.1.3.3 or 10.1.3.4 or 10.1.3.5 - all are good for your scenario as you are using Oracle BPEL 10g.
But for JDeveloper version 11.1.1.2.0, I will keep my reservations as the concept that how BPEL projects are created, packaged and deployed (i.e. SCA suites) are changed considerably from 10g to 11g. Hence I will suggest to stick to any JDeveloper 10.1.3.x version for your scenario. You can download them from archived section of JDeveloper downloads on Oracle website.
    Thanks.

The OracleAS Portal is also required to deploy JSF Portlets. To Develop and deploy a JSF Portlet:
    1. Install the OracleAS application server.
    2. Install the portlet container.
    3. Install the OracleAS Portal Extension.
    4. Generate Portlet with Portal Extension in JDeveloper
    5. Connect to application server.
    6. Deploy Portlet to Application Server.
    7. Install OracleAS Portal
    8. Register Portlet with OracleAS Portal.
    9. View Portlet in OracleAS Portal.
    10. Add Portlet to a page.

    hi user,
ArrayIndexOutOfBoundException: check the code gone under some looping. that is in recursion
Missing IN or OUT parameter at index : usual mistake using some bind param. but not defining that bind param variable.
but your subject of your thread is different from your content of your thread. why?
