Customer's Question
The company I work for has Oracle 9i version 2. I wish to be able to have access to the latest development tools from Oracle that would enable me to develop Java applications which are integrated with the latest XML technologies available from Oracle. My understanding is that XML Developer Kits provide the latest XML tools from Oracle. The version of the kit that has the most up-to-date XML components is available in a 10g version here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/xml/xdkhome.html.
The 9i version is here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/xml/xdk/xdk_java.html.
My questions are as follows: If I purchase the current version of JDeveloper Java IDE and download the 10g version of the XDK, will I have the best of breed tools for developing Java-based XML applications under Oracle? Would such a combination of tools work seamlessly with a 9i production database, which is already in place at the company I work for? Would this combination of tools (JDeveloper + XDK) provide me with a set of tools and utilities that are every bit as strong from the point of view of developing Java/XML applications as that which would be provided from use of the Internet Developer Suite?

Oracle 9i Production may be used with JDeveloper 10g.
Oracle 10g is recommended for its support for WebRowSet JDBC driver.

Hi,
I just want to be sure, I am new to JDeveloper and I would just like to verify/ask what correct version of JDeveloper should we use so we could deploy the finished applications on our Oracle Application Server 10g 10.1.2.0.2 without errors?
Looking at this support matrix: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/htdocs/11/as_supportmatrix.html#1013
I think we can use JDeveloper 10g (10.1.2)?
I downloaded Jdeveloper 10.1.2 from this link: http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/jdev/htdocs/soft10g.html.
Will this work well with Oracle Application Server 10g 10.1.2.0.2?
Thank you very much,
Mickey

Is ADFBC - JSF is working with Oracle XE?
Hi ,
i found in the XE license doc
that Java Server Pages = NO
what that means?
ThanksI'm not sure, but JDeveloper 10g (or really any version of JDeveloper) works fine with Oracle XE as its database.
This comment likely refers to a vestigial feature of Oracle 8i to run JSP pages INSIDE the database. -
PJC Integration with Oracle Apps
Hi,
We are looking to integrate Jdeveloper through PJC with Oracle Application HRMS 11i.
Is it possible?
Do you have any documents for this?
Thanks,
SureshbabuSureshbabu,
Theoretically, this is possible, but I do not know anyone that has tried it. I suggest you post your question to the Enterprise Business Suite forum. You will have much better luck getting an answer there than here in the Forms forum.
Gook Luck!

-- Establishing contact with Oracle 8i & JDeveloper Teams
Hi,
We are a tool vendor (Quintessence Systems). We have developed a
generalized, fully automated tool which generates 100% pure Java
classes from stored PL/SQL (Packages, Procedures, Function etc)
objects.
The tool itself, written entirely in Java, parses and tokenizes
PL/SQL objects then rapidly generates 100% pure Java. This
provides existing Oracle customers with the ability to:
- Continue developing in PL/SQL for as long as necessary
transparently gain the benefits of a Java deployment of their
business logic
- Migrate their PL/SQL automatically to Java if required
- Create EJBs from Stored Procedures in conjunction with
JDeveloper and gain the benefits of distributed component based
computing
- Automatically deploy PL/SQL stored procedures in Java in an
Oracle Application Server
We would be very interested in developing close contacts within
your group (at both technical and product manangement levels) as
I believe this technology could become and important Internet,
distributed computing and e-commerce enabler for your customers.
Please advise me who you think would be useful people for us to
contact by email at both a technical and product management
level.
I look forward to your reply. Please email me directly at
[email protected]
Thanks.

nullHi Gloria,
If you mean, "Will it work?" the answer is yes. Oracle9i JDeveloper should work with either the 8i or 9i versions of the database.
Something in your question (perhaps it was that you mentioned you had a "free" copy of JDeveloper) makes me unsure whether this is what you were asking, however. If your question is "Is it legal?" then it depends on what you want to do with it. You're welcome to play around with JDeveloper and the database all you want; explore its features and evaluate it. However, if you want to deploy an application developed with JDeveloper in a commercial or other production setting, you do need to buy a license.
Hope this helps,

Hi,
I have installed Oracle Unified Directory 11.1.2.2.0 and WebSphere Application Server 7 with Fix Pack 37.
I am getting error while configuring WAS 7 Fix Pack 37 (7.0.0.37) with Oracle Application Development Framework (Oracle JDeveloper 11.1.1.7.0). While adding products to cell (Oracle Directory Services Manager for WebSphere - 11.1.2.2.0), I am getting below error:
CFGFWK-64069: The following prerequisites were found to be missing: Oracle WebCenter Composer Extension - 11.1.1.0
Also attached the screenshot of the error.
Please help.
Thanks,
Himanshu VermaHello,
ODSM has the following dependencies apart from ADF (both components depend also on ADF):
- UIShell (oracle.idm.uishell.war)
- Webcenter Composer (oracle.webcenter.composer.war).
Apparently the composer is missing.
Important points to check when using ODSM with WAS:
- To install and configure Oracle Fusion Middleware with IBM WebSphere, you must first install (but not configure) IBM WebSphere
- You must install the Oracle Application Development Framework as the same user who installed Oracle Unified Directory.
- appdev must be installed under the same ORACLE_HOME as OUD

Hi,
I am new to Oracle Coherence. I was looking for examples implementing Oracle Coherence step by step so as to get a basic understanding using JDeveloper but most of the examples available are using Oracle Service Bus and Eclipse.
Could anyone please help me in providing link with examples using Oracle Coherence with Oracle SOA suite 11.1.1.4.0 and JDeveloper.
Thanks for the needful.
Cheers,
VarunHi Varun,
Please find the answers to your questions below:
1) Could you please let me know how to use this system property -Dtangosol.coherence.override in my application so that I can coordinate between the cluster used by my application and the one started for using Coherence Node.
You need to specify this property in the Java Options of your server or cache node startup script.
2) I was trying to understand how to use this tangosol-coherence-override.xml but the document is pretty confusing. I am not able to understand that whether I am suppose to use it at server level or at application level.
I would suggest extract the coherence.jar and you it would be important for you to have a look at the tangosol-coherence.xml and tangosol-coherence-override.xml. This file is used to override any of the properties specified in tangosol-coherence.xml for your cluster configuration for example, clustername, multicast ip and port or WKA for unicast, logging and so on.
3) Another point is how to coordinate among tangosol-coherence-override.xml, coherence-cache-config.xml and -Dtangosol.coherence.override system property from my application
Ideally you should specify in the java options of your application startup but you can also sepcify using System.setProperty("property", "value") in you code for specifying the various properties
4) How to use the cache updating mechanisms from an application?
I am not clear what do you mean by cache updating mechanisms? If you mean how you can update the cache from application then you can use simple Put, Entry Processor and so on. Refer NamedCache APIs to start with for operations but there many other ways to update the cache from within application or otherwise
Hope this helps!
Cheers,

How to configure my oracle jdeveloper 11g preview 4 with oracle 8i database
hi every one
my requrirement is to configure my oracle jdeveloper 11g preview 4 with oracle 8i database with (thin driver)
thanks in advancePrapan,
JDev 11g TP4 comes with 11g JDBC drivers, which do not support connecting to any database v 9.0.1 or earlier.
So, back to you... depends upon what you want to do. If you want to write your own code to connect to a database using 11g, get ahold of some JDBC drivers that support 8i and have away. If you're talking about getting the database development stuff (e.g. the embedded SQLDeveloper) to work, you're probably out of luck.
So, please define "configure my oracle jdeveloper 11g preview 4 with oracle 8i database"

Using Java Access bridge (Accessibility) with oracle forms 6.0 client
I'm trying to use JAB (java Access bridge ) to capture events in oracle forms 6.0 client .
I've a Jinitiator 1.1.8 and JRE version 1.4x
I've configured JAB as per the installation guide . However the events don't surface in Java Monkey .
Has anybody encountered similar issue ? what is the solution for the issue ??
Also on one of the forums I read Jinitiator 1.3x and above is automatically recognised by Java Access bridge .
For jinitiator version less than 1.3 manual configuration is required . however I haven;'t been able to find any on the oracle forms KB
Also here is the excerpt from the link http://www.oracle.com/us/corporate/accessibility/faqs/index.html
Q: Are there special steps for using Java-based applications with assistive technology?
A: If the Oracle application is written in Java, such as JDeveloper or Oracle Forms (runtime), customers must first install the latest version of Sun's Java Access Bridge. The Java Access Bridge provides the integration with screen readers such as JAWS or SuperNova that support Java. You just download the Access Bridge and install it. Sun's AccessBridge 2.0x recognizes Oracle's JInitiator 1.3x and above so no manual configuration steps are necessary. The Access Bridge is available from: http://java.sun.com/products/accessbridge. At the time this document was written, Access Bridge 2.0.1 is the most current publicly available production release; Oracle recommends upgrading to this version. Sun's AccessBridge is bundled with Oracle Universal Installer (OUI) and can be found in the Java Runtime Engine (JRE). More information for configuring such products is in the respective product documentation, or on http://www.oracle.com/us/corporate/accessibility/products/index.html.
Edited by: 974810 on 4 Dec, 2012 1:10 AMODP.NET requires Oracle Client 9.2 or higher.
You can find additional information about ODP.NET from the FAQ:

and the ODP.NET homepage:
