JDK - US DST Timezone Updater 1.0.1

One way to fix the DST issue is to install the latest Java update. But Workshop Studio has few known issues using the latest vm.
http://forums.bea.com/bea/thread.jspa?threadID=400001144&tstart=15&mod=1169490304818
Alternatively you can fix the DST issue without switching to the latest Java update by running the "Timezone Updater" tool against your existing Java installation.
http://java.sun.com/javase/tzupdater_README.html
Usage
The TZupdater tool modifies the JDK/JRE software that is used to execute the tool.
A single image of the JDK/JRE software is modified per execution. For administering tomultiple instances of the JDK/JRE software, see the section System-wide Usage.
Any executing instances of the JDK/JRE software to be operated upon must be stoppedprior to running the TZupdater tool against that installed JDK/JRE softwareimage.
Run the TZupdater tool with the following command:
java -jar tzupdater.jar options

  • Help please: JDK DST Timezone Update Tool - 1.3.3

I need to download the timezone updater tool ASAP before our daylight savings here in Australia change.
When I follow the link from the sun page (I have been trying every day for 5 days now):
I get a "Transmission problems prevent your transaction from being processed correctly. The administrator has been notified by the system. Please try again soon."
Last week I submitted a broken link report to Sun, they replied but the error still hasn't been rectified.
If there is anyone in the forum with more direct access to Sun support can they please forward this error on.
    Thanks

This is absolutely disgusting. Sun puts license restrictions on its software so that others' distributing the software is illegal, yet Sun can not even distribute its own software.
The Timezone utility is required to be able to install Open Office 2 in FreeBSD; however, I can not get the tool from the FreeBSD ports because, under Sun's license, it is illegal for FreeBSD to redistribute the Timezone program in its ports collection. So, I come here, to the only legal place where the program can be downloaded, and I find that Sun can not even manage its own websites!
    DISGUSTING!

  • Jar or Zip utility DST not updated

    All,
I have an issue with a file (call it "test.dat") that I am trying to Jar up. The file's modified date must match up exactly. It's date is "Oct 30, 2006 6:18" on my Windows 2000 machine (updated for new US DST). When I run the "jar -cvf test.jar test.dat" command it goes into the jar as having a modified date of ""Oct 30, 2006 5:18". I can tell by opening the jar file in WinZip. Please note it is not WinZip's display as I can manually add test.dat and it has the correct time of 6:18. When I unzip the test.jar file, test.dat has the time of 5:18. Being an hour behind, I immediately suspected daylight savings time (DST).
So because the jar command is based upon zip, perhaps zip was not updated. It seems odd that it wouldn't use the normal time zone DB. I ran the US DST Timezone Tool 1.1.0 (tzupdater). It says I have tzdata2006p.
    Java version: 1.5.0_07 (b03)
    OS version: Windows 2000 sp4
Any help would be appreciated! Even if it is just to confirm that there is a problem.

  • Sun Ultra 5 DST firmware update required?

    Hi,
Does anybody know if the Sun Ultra 5 requires a firmware update for the DST timezone change? I'm guessing not and only solaris patches required.
    Thanks!!

    Hello.
The system clock on Sun machines runs in UTC time.
It's libc.so and the time configuration files which are responsible for the local time (translating UTC to local time and vice versa). Therefore libc.so does DST, too.
This means: No firmware update is required for time zones and DST, only OS updates!

  • TimeZone Updater on E50

Italian support site does not list the application; can I use English version on my E50 (italian language is set on the phone and on my PC)?
    Thanks for replies

New time zone changes have being published by IANA (2014j) but the Oracle Timezone Updater Tool is only updated to 2014i.
Does anybody here know when the Timezone Updater Tool will be updated to the latest version?
Or is there a way to use the current tool with the new IANA files by passing it as an option when executing the tool?
Hmmm - how would you expect an older tool version to apply NEW changes that the older tool can't possibly know about?
Have you determined that you actually need the changes in version j? Are those changes for YOUR locale?
    Timezone Updater Tool
To see which JDK or JRE update release incorporates the updated timezone data for your locale, see Timezone Data Versions in the JRE Software.
Are you currently using the i version?
If you need the changes in the new version you either need to wait until the download page has the new version available or contact Oracle support (via MOS) to see if it is available for support customers.

  • Timezone Updater Tool

    Hi,
As described in a note in the page [Timezone Data Versions in the JRE Software|http://java.sun.com/javase/timezones/tzdata_versions.html] it was launched the version 1.3.8 of the Timezone Updater Tool that fix Brazilian DST.
But in this page there is a note saying "contact your local SunServices Office to obtain this version". Why this specific version is only available through local SunServices Office?
    Best regards,
    Marcos Hack.

Perhaps they want you to buy support for the very latest versions of the updater. I noticed that a slightly earlier version of the updater (1.3.6, only two versions back) is still free to developers:
    http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp#timezone
Perhaps they just forgot to update this page to the latest version.

  • Where is TMS timezone update tool

i will upgrade tms from 13.2 to 14.4.5, and in the installation guide, said that i need to run the timezone update tool, but i have installed Cisco TMS 14.3.2 to run this application, but i did not found it. i looking for on TMS Tool, but it is not.

The tool is installed on your server when you install Cisco TMS 14.2.
From the TMS 14.2 Install Guide:
    1. In your server's program files folder, go to TANDBERG\TMS\TimeZoneTool\ConferenceTimeZoneMigration.exe to locate the tool.
    • If you are not using Cisco TMSXE, you can start the tool directly from its current location.
    • If you have a Cisco TMSXE deployment, you must copy the tool to the Cisco TMSXE server.
    2. Start the tool.
    3. On the welcome screen, click Next.
    4. Add the connection details for the Cisco TMS SQL database (tmsng) and click Next to validate them.
    5. Add the Cisco TMS connection details and click Next to validate them. The next screen presents a list of all conference series with meetings in the future.
    6. From the conference list, you can choose to go through one conference series at a time, or use the bulk editing options.  We recommend bulk editing per user that is organizing the meeting.  Once you have identified the correct time zone for a particular organizer, you can apply that time zone to all series booked by that user.  Users will rarely book different meeting series in multiple time zones.
    7. When you have flagged all conference series that you want to update, click Update.  The tool will now update all flagged conference series by attempting to re-book them in Cisco TMS using the new time zone information and then present a list of results.
    8. You can download the results as a list of comma-separated values by clicking Export to CSV. If any conference re-bookings failed, we recommend contacting the organizer of each series to advise them to delete their current booking and re-book the meeting series.  This will ensure that the series has the the correct time zone information and that all the necessary resources are available.
You may run the tool several times if you did not update all conference series during the initial run.

  • DST TIMEZONE FOR DHAKA

    Hi,
I need urgent help regarding DST for Dhaka.Microsoft has released a patch to update the TIMZONE.But it does not works with jre 1.6u5.There no mapping for this new windows timezone.
    What I should do now????????????????

Check the JDK/JRE download page and you'll see some timezone information. This is the latest that Sun makes available. Check its documentation to see if it includes what you need.
BTW, your Java version is quite old and does not include timezone/DST changes made since it was released. That's what the TZ updater does for you.

  • Timezone update issues in 11.2.0.1- 11.2.0.2 upgrade

I'm getting lost in the note maze on timezones. I'm upgrading, "out of place," from 11.2.0.1 to 11.2.0.2. When I run utlu112i.sql it tells me to:
.... After the release migration, it is recommended that DBMS_DST package
.... be used to upgrade the 11.2.0.1.0 database timezone version
.... to the latest version which comes with the new release.
I find, via a search of metalink, "Updating the RDBMS DST version in 11gR2 (11.2.0.1 and up) using DBMS_DST [ID 977512.1]" which says:
Locate the latest RDBMS DST patch available in NOTE:412160.1 Updated DST transitions and new Time Zones in Oracle Time Zone File patches
Apply the RDBMS DST patch to the $ORACLE_HOME using Opatch, there is no need to shutdown the database to apply the RDBMS DST patch.
This is where I get lost. 412160.1 provides DSTv15diff, but this does not look like a patch to me. Also, there is no digest provided, so I can't be sure the file is valid on download (sigh):
    $ unzip -l DSTv15diff.zip
    Archive: DSTv15diff.zip
    Length Date Time Name
    0 12-17-10 14:41 DSTv15diff/
    4604 12-17-10 14:46 DSTv15diff/DST15new.txt
    1882 12-17-10 14:40 DSTv15diff/readme.txt
    32850 12-17-10 14:42 DSTv15diff/tzdst15.txt
    39336 4 files
Updated DST transitions and new Time Zones in Oracle Time Zone File patches [ID 412160.1] does not seem to say how to apply this patch.
What rabbit trail did I miss?

    Hello,
DSTv15diff is pure informative thing, it was added by customer request, i've made it hidden as attachement and added this text "(this is not a "DST patch" or needed to apply dst patches, it's pure informative)"
in 11.2 there is no need to shutdown a database to apply a new DST patch, it's simply add a new file to the home. Hence it is not in use (like on the older versions), i'll see the readme for 11.2 patch is changed for DSTv16)
you have 2 distinct different things you can do
    * upgrade a software version (which, for 11.2. you may need to apply a dst patche to the target home)
    * not upgrade the software version but simply update the DST version
both are handled in different note seen they are different actions, both are in Note 412160.1 Updated DST transitions and new Time Zones in Oracle Time Zone File patches
If you want to update a DST version of a existing database (= not upgrade the db) then you have the "normal" dst advisory's
for example if you want to upgrade 11.2.0.1 to the latest tz file from DSTv11-> note 1274498.1 Applying the DSTv15 update for the Oracle Database
which basically say's, apply the DStv15 patch and then use DBMS_DST to go to 15 for each database in that home
If you then (later) want to UPGRADE a 11.2.0.1 DSTv15 to 11.2.0.2 then you have notes like Note 1201253.1 Actions For DST Updates When Upgrading To Or Applying The 11.2.0.2 Patchset
there it basically bottoms down (when coming from 11.2.0.1) to:
If you do "Out-of-place upgrade" in 11.2 then make sure then new version has your current dst version included (for example you use DSTv15 in 11.2.0.1 , then you need to apply DStv15 on 11.2.0.2 because it's not by default in the 112.0.2 stack), if not, then apply it to the new home and then ,after upgrade, (if needed/wanted) go to the latest dst version
I will also ask to include a reference to Note 412160.1 Updated DST transitions and new Time Zones in Oracle Time Zone File patches in the upgrade docset (which I assume you follow)
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e17222/upgrade.htm#CIAFHIBG

  • ETA for JDK 1.4.2 update/patch release for tzdata2006a fix?

I noticed that the bug 6378990 - compliance with tzdata2006a (http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6378990) got fixed in Mustang b72.
Anyone aware of a fix for this bug in JDK 1.4.2? I would think that this bug needs to be addressed before April, 2006 for all non-EOLed JDK version?

Yes, 1.4.2 and 5.0 will also contain this information in a later update release.
    Currently 1.4.2_11 has tzdata2005n
    and 5.0u6 contains tzdata2005m.
Both these updates contain rules for the Australian daylight savings changes(2006)

  • As400 Toolkit , jdk 1.2.2 , update to jdk1.3.1 or latest versions

Could anyone tellme what advantages , i'll would get if I update Visual Age for Java to jdk1.3.1 , and how I could update it , in the Integrate Develoment Environment,
    Thanks

What advantages would you get? You could use all of those classes and methods that are in JDK 1.3 but not in JDK 1.2.
How would you do it? Well, in my VAJ there's a project called "Java Class Libraries" that appears to contains all of the classes documented in the API and a bunch of others, and according to my information it contains JDK 1.2.2 from IBM. To replace this by a 1.3 JVM you would have to find a jar file somewhere that contained that JVM, and import it as a new project. I definitely would not want to try that, as I expect it would have a good chance of fouling things up beyond help. If you want to try it, good luck, and I hope you have your original installation CDs safe.
