JMS ports?
I'm involved with a project that needs to support users both inside and outside a
firewall and have been asked to determine which ports are used by the WebLogic implementation
of JMS (hereafter simply JMS).
Nowhere have I found any information on how ports are mapped to connections/sessions/subscriptions/listeners/etc.,
which ports are actually used, or how one would be able to configure which ports
are used.
Is it the case that JMS uses the same port as the other server requests?
Any information or pointers to information on this subject would be greatly appreciated,
thanks.

Yes, but there is one more step: The server disables HTTP tunneling by default. You can either
enable it on the
console or manually add this attribute to your WL server in your config.xml:
TunnelingEnabled="true".

JMS Bridge from WLS to OAS not working; automatic redirection to JMS Port
We have setup a JMS Bridge inbetween Weblogic Server 10.3.0 and Oracle App Server 10.1.3. In our test environment it is working fine. But, in LIVE, we are facing a problem. Firewall is there inbetween OAS and WLS.
1. OAS Admin port 6003, is blocked by firewall. So, from outside environment we can't connect to this port.
2. OAS Port 12401 (RMI Port) is not-blocked
3. OAS Port 12601 (JMS Port) is blocked by firewall
4. We created credential "JMS_USER" while configuring QueueConnFactory at OAS end and used it while setting up WLS JMS Bridge
We are using ormi://172.24.255.59:12401/default as Provider URL from Weblogic while creating JMS Bridge.
Problem
========
While connecting from WLS we are getting the following error from WLS end:
javax.jms.JMSException: Unable to create a connection to "apgst366/172.24.255.59:12,601" as user "JMS_USER".

Question
=========
1) We are requesting for 12401; then why the JMS Port 12601 is being referred?
2) Is there any automatic redirection from OAS end?
3) Will unblocking the 12601 port by Firewall help?
Please help me, as this has become a burning issue for us.
Thanks in advance. Can anybody please help me?

I assume that in a cluster with multiple VMs on the same physical hardware server that the JMS port number needs to be different for each VM. However, the VMs in the cluster all share config/jms.xml. How do we set a unique port number for each JMS provider? Our current setup is: "OracleAS JMS Server Distributed Destinations"
Thanks in advance. If you are starting OC4J manually, you can use the port.jms system property to assign the JMS server a port. If you are using OPMN, you can set a port range in opmn.xml and OPMN will allocate different ports to the different JVMs. Both of these methods override any server port setting in the jms.xml file.

Oracle 11g install failure, error, Failed to allocate port(s)
I'm having a very hard time reinstalling Oracle 11gR1 x64 bit after the hard drive where I first installed it failed and had to be replaced. The database I'm trying to setup is for personal use on this system only. I'm running Windows XP professional 64 bit edition and have .net framework version 1.1.4322.573 installed.
During installation the process hangs at the Database Configuration Assistant stage and will not progress till I manually end the lsnrctl.exe process in taskmanager. During the completing database process at the end I get this error -
SEVERE: Failed to allocate port(s) in the specified range(s) for the following process(es): JMS [5540-5559],RMI [5520-5539],Database Control [5500-5519],EM Agent [3938] | [1830-1849]
My first thoughts were the ports in question were in use or closed but I've been using both netbios and a port monitor program called currports to check and as far as I can tell the ports listed are open and not in use.
I did reconfigure the tnsnames.ora and listener.ora files to include valid port addresses (1521) and I can get the lsnrctl.exe to start manually now but still can't connect to the database using an open SQL command prompt.
I also tried running the emca.bat but still no change. I need help, I'm beating my head against the wall now.
Here are my etc/hosts, etc/services, and emconfig.log files

Hi,
I'm attempting to install oracle 10.2.0 on Solaris 10.
When I create a database i get the error:
Failed to allocate port(s) in the specified range(s) for the following process(es): .....
So I look at the logs and there looks like to be some configuration issues but i'm not sure where to start.
I've changed the port from NULL to 1521 in listener.ora.
It worried me that it was set to null.
Ive tried running emca -config -all db ( not sure what central agent home should be set it as /app/oracle/product/10.2.0/Db_1 seemed to accept that)
This gives me the same above error.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Please note im both a novice solaris and oracle user

So , for instance the following , are the ports those of Dev_Suite_Home:
Oracle Developer Suite HTTP port = 8889
Oracle Developer Suite JMS port = 9240
Oracle Developer Suite RMI port = 23910
Oracle HTTP Server Diagnostic port = 7200
Reports Services bridge port = 14011
Reports Services discoveryService port = 14021But ... note that these ports are valid only at the time of installation....!!!!

Wat is the use of ports those are used for EMconsole
hi all;,
Could anyone please tell me
1. the use of the agent, rmi and jms ports used for the dbconsole?
2. if i block those ports can i use dbconsole?
3. what are all the ports used for the database like listener, dbconsole http, dbconsole agent etc. and use of those.
Thanks & Regards,
Sagar MaramWhat is the use of the rmi and jms ports i mean how those are getting used internally. if block those ports with firewal then wat happend to dbconsole.?They are more appserver related components and to be clear..if the apps and DB are in the same server...then if you block these ports your DBConsole/Appconsole continues to work as long you have not blocked http DBconsole/Appconsole ports...
But if you apps and DB are across network with a firewall between them then there is a possibility some of the functionality might not work but http console should work as long as http console port is opened in the firewall..... -
JMS Java client - JMSExcepiton initializeConnection
Hello,
I'm working on a JMS java client to connect to an OC4J instance that's residing in a Oracle Application Server. I have the client jars in the Java client classpath and in fact the JNDI lookup for the connection factory and topic succeeded but when I try to create the connection it fails with the following error:

If I run this on the local machine it works - but it doesn't when I attempt it from my workstation. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
BarryJNDI lookups go through the RMI port, which you apparently have configured correctly. JMS operations (starting with and including JMS connection creation) go through the JMS port (which for OC4J JMS is always a different port than the RMI port). The JMS port is specified where the connection factory is configured -- in jms.xml.

OSB 11g - poll JMS topic on OAS 10.1.2
Hi everybody,
We are going to create OSB 11g proxy service that will poll JMS topic located on Oracle Application Server 10.1.2. I think that the first step is to set up foreign JMS server, connection factory and destinations in the Weblogic server, am I right?
I've never set up that before and l looking for any guides on how to set up OAS 10.1.2 topic as foreign destination in Weblogic 10.3.3.
Any help will be appreciated
Best regards,
DmitryOk, finally I found this guide http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bam/technote-bam-connectingoc4jjms-129297.pdf and set up foreign JMS server, connection factory and topic. These foreign JMS objects are included in weblogic JNDI tree, and I could successfully deploy OSB Proxy Service that is intended to poll foreign JMS topic. The following error appeared in the weblogic server log file after deployment:
<Aug 24, 2010 1:21:44 PM MSD> <Warning> <EJB> <BEA-010061> <The Message-Driven EJB: RequestEJB-4249293316140669267--703a

12601 is JMS port of remote OC4J instance, I can connect to this port from weblogic server though telnet.
I do not know why 0.0.0.0 is printed as IP address, and why user is "null" ..
Any ideas on that? -
Folks,
I am having problem starting the application server after trying to add the following JVM options

OK, it didn't work, so I decided to remove the above options and back to where it was. Since then, I am unable to start the server. Below is the error log:

How to start the jms service?
I have installed the oracle9ias on linux 7.2. I start the EM web manager, and start other component in the component list. and I found that the 9127 port not open.
how can i start the jms service. the rmi port is already open.
thanks in advance.Hello Xiaofeng,
The 9127 port is only used by the standalone OC4J J2EE Container (i.e. when you run OC4J outside of Oracle9iAS). When you run OC4J as part of Oracle9iAS, the JMS port is allocated by OPMN (Oracle Process Manager and Notification Server) dynamically that's why you don't see anything on 9127, if you go to the EM Web Manager, click on Server Properties of your OC4J instance, you should be able to see a configuration parameter that specifies the range of JMS port, OPMN will use a port number in the range for the JMS server. When you start Oracle9iAS (with embedded OC4J), the JMS server will start automatically.
Another thing to point out is that the JMS service in OC4J is a light-weight, memory based messaging server and it doesn't support persistence. If you want to deploy production JMS application, please use OracleJMS instead, which is based on Oracle Database Advanced Queuing, in that case, you start the JMS service by starting the database.

Hi
The Java Message Service (JMS) is a messaging standard that allows application components based on the Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE) to create, send, receive, and read messages. It enables distributed communication that is loosely coupled, reliable, and asynchronous.
JMS is bundled and installed with Application Server 8. JMS runs on a port 17676. If this port is occupied by any other process, the JMS will not start. Please check if this port is occupied by any other process or change the default JMS port in domain.xml (<Creator-root>/Appserver8/domains/creator/config/domain.xml)
Thanks
