JMS run in jdk1.1.8

I have difficulty to upgrade my jdk 1.1.8 to upper version in AIX. Which version of JMS can support 1.1.8?

Deploy app on standalone OC4J running on jdk1.6.0_04

Hi all!
I am trying to deploy an application on standalone OC4J running on jdk1.6.0_04. The application runs well when started on embedded oc4j (which is running on java 1.6). I know that jdk1.6 is not supported, but the application works smoother and faster on 1.6 and I want to try and find the reason why it won't work on standalone oc4j. When I start the server (start_oc4j.bat with JAVA_HOME set to c:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_04) I get these messages:

Running into the same issues; been juggling between JDK 5/6, Embedded and Standalone OC4J on various platforms; still no answer...
Here's what I do know:
OC4J on TN is for TP1 only, JDeveloper is for TP3 or later, so you must use the bundled OC4J with JDeveloper cross platform as well - including all patches like SOA and friends.
JDK 6u4 is very bad; use anything but that; u5 seems good.
A good start might be to go with the Emedded OC4J, take a look at the classpath and startup commands given by the IDE for the server in the logs and simply match with some bat file if you can - from the looks of it the Standalone OC4J is behind thus the reason it's only released for TP1.
I'm not bothering with this till they pair a release with a Standalone OC4J.

The MessagePerformanceUtils:totalTime issue in Flex 4 (rpc.swc) using LCDS 3.1 running under JDK1.6

We are facing an issue while using LCDS 3.1 running under JDK1.6 in Sun Solaris v5.10 OS & Adobe Flex 4.
Scenario :-

As part of our Flex-based client-server application (with Java backend) we have a performance report generation module. Following flex framework class is used to calculate the performance of various layer of a typical server-based request-response cycle.

(for example : server time, cairngorm time, UI screen rendering time, UI event generation time etc).
The totalTime was working properly before upgrading the rpc.swc to Flex 4 ; However it broke after migrating to Flex SDK 4; The totalTime is now coming as negative junk value.
As we understand that the above Flex framework class method works in conjunction with LCDS running at server side on JDK.
We suspect that the new rpc.swc taken from Flex SDK 4 is causing the issue !

Nothing has changed in the Flex SDK sources for this class since sometime around 2008. Are you running against the same LCDS server as you were before you updated to Flex 4? This certainly seems strange (and bad). Do you see the same behavior with Flex 4.5? What was the version of Flex you were using before switching to Flex 4.0?
If you can provide the additional information, we will look in to this. A reproducable case that was a simple mxml application along with a simple destination config would help us narrow the problem.

GUI does not run under JDK1.4

Hello,
hope you may help me. I've a big problem with JDK1.4. I can't run
any GUI under it on my laptop. With JDK1.3 everything works fine but
with the new Version I not even can start a simple Frame. If I start
a GUI my cpu runs with full capacity but nothing happings.
Can anyone tell me why this is so?

I don't know exactly about your problem. but there are many problems of jdk1.4 . Any applet compiled in jdk1.4 doesn't run in a browser of the machine which has jdk1.3 . This I have experienced.

Personalization Server running with JDK1.2.2?

We installed Commerce Server 3.2 with an instance of WebLogic Server 5.1 running
with JDK 1.3, as asked for by the BEA Installation Documentation (see http://e-docs.bea.com/wlcs/docs32/install/install.htm).
Now after having endless meetings about how this will work with our current JDK
1.2.2 architecture a BEA Senior Systems Engineer told us that Commerce Server
3.2 does run with JDK 1.2.2 and is not even certified to run with JDK 1.3.
This is an important issue for us, does anyone know for sure. The BEA Documentation
clearly suggests that JDK 1.3 is needed.

Hi Chris,
You didn't mention which operating system you're using. The certified JDK
for WLCS 3.2 is the Java 2 SDK 1.3.0 (HotSpot) for Windows 2000, Windows NT
4.0, and Sun Solaris 7 and 8. For IBM AIX 4.3.3, you need Classic VM, Build
1.3.0, J2RE 1.3.0.
For Compaq Tru64 UNIX 5.0 systems, you need Java 2 SDK 1.2.2-4.

JMS- Iplanet 6.0 connection.

Hi,
I'm running iPlanet 6.0 WebServer and SwiftMQ router for JMS connectivity. Both the versions are running on JDK1.3.1, now when the JDK version is changed in iPlanet to JDK1.4.2, the webserver & Messaging router are unable to communicate. I'm unable to guess anything with the error messages thrown.
Kindly help. The swiftMQ Router needs to be in JDK1.3.1, since it requires a license purchase in the later versions.

We are using Entrust certificate and we already put cacerts file from jdk1.4 to jdk1.2.1 in jdk/jre/lib/security.
This application was working till we upgraded version from 1.3.1 to 1.4.1.
Is this is problem of 1.4.1 and how do we resolve this?

Internal frame dragging perfermance problem in JDK1.4.1

Hi there,
When using internal frame with outline(not faster or LIVE_DRAG_MODE) property with JDK 1.4.1_01 (windows), the speed of internal frame dragging is terrible(very very slow).
The same code runs fine with JDK1.3.X, and it's performance(dragging speed) is acceptable(not very good, so so) when using JDK 1.4.0_X.
I've tried both motheds to set the property as follow, and got the same result:
desktop.setDragMode(JDesktopPane.OUTLINE_DRAG_MODE);
desktop.putClientProperty("JDesktopPane.dragMode", "outline");
But, after I commented the line: g.setXORMode(Color.white); //line Num: 279
in the class javax.swing.DefaultDesktopManager.java, the speed of dragging is very well(as same as when running with JDK1.3.X).
My qestions are:
- How can I improve the internal frame dragging performance in JDK 1.4.1_01(windows)?
- Does my testing mean to a bug in the implementation of the abstract method Graphics.setXORMode() in the JDK 1.4.1_01 windows version ?

I have downloaded oracle 8.1.6.0 jdbc thin driver(named classes12.zip) to run with jdk1.3 to access oracle 8.0.5, but when I compile and run the jdbccheckup.java downloaded from oracle website like this:

How to install Oracle AS JMS Adapter on Websphere (or any J2EE server)

We have a requirement in which the client wants to connect to the OC4J JMS running in SOA Suite (Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.4).
They are using Websphere. We are exploring ways by which they can connect from Websphere application to Oracle AS OC4J JMS.
One option is - deploy the Oracle AS JMS adapter in Websphere and then use it to connect to the OC4J JMS.
Please let us know if this is the right approach. Also, if so, kindly point to the documentation regarding how to install the JMS adapter on 3rd party J2EE servers such as websphere.

While searching the knowledge base I found the following note, which seems to suggest that Oracle Adapters are not deployble on other J2EE application servers:

From the statements in documentation it may be implied that jca adapter should be deployable on any application server that is compliant with j2ee/jca. Please note that this cannot be implied at this time and jca adapter cannot be deployed on other application servers than OAS in BRM 731 due to some technical constraints. So currently we can support only OAS and not JBoss or another application server , in BRM 731. The documentation will be updated accordingly to reflect this.

Since each of first 9 plugins contains less than 500 java source files, we always set "param.fork" to false when invoking this ant target.
For the 10th plugin, it has about 1000 source files. If we set "param.fork" to false, we will get the error "Error running javac.exe compiler". So we have to set "param.fork" to true when compiling it. This week, this plugin contains about 1250 files and we get the same error again when compiling it. I tried to increase the "memoryMaximumSize" to "768", but still couldn't get through it.
BTW, There are about 150 jar files in our classpath for compiling plugins. Do many jar files cause this problem?

I encountered a very similar error and I was able to resolve it by removing the following parameters from the javac task:

memoryInitialSize="256m"
memoryMaximumSize="512m"My values were not the same as yours, before I removed them, the values were set to:
fork="true"
memoryInitialSize="256m"
memoryMaximumSize="256m" Not sure why this fixed my problem but it did. I was using Ant 1.7 and Java 1.6_07 hope this helps.

Desktop app startup GUI Grey out using JDK1.5 using -Xmx1152m

Hi,
We have a desktop swing app which works with JVM max heap size -Xmx1152m in JDK 1.4.2 without any problems. But using JDK 1.5, the GUI shows up in GREY and not repaint itseld even if we force repaint by minimising or being another windows over it.
However, there is no problem if we reduce the -Xmx size from 1152m to about 512m and this problem does not show up on all machines.
Is this problem anyway related to the following bug ?

We compiled our source code with JDK 1.5 and run with JDK1.5 and we do not use any JDK 1.5 features. We want to use JDk 1.5 for our memory and performance improvements. Ours is a heaby memory usage app so we can not afford to reduce -Xmx to 512m from 1152m.

It could be to a corrupt Video Driver or Microsoft DirectX driver on that machine and 1.5 is taking advantage of some new directx methods to speed up video rendering. May 1.5 is using more vram than 1.4. You could also try downloading and installing/or reinstalling the latest Microsoft DirectX drivers and the latetest video drivers for the Dell Optiplex GX280. After that carefully read the link I provided, it might provide you with some clue as to what is going wrong and you could experiment with other ddraw properties.

Web Service Client - SOAP/jms: Specific response queue (not default queue)?

I try to define a specific jms response queue for a web service client that communicates SOAP/jms, running on a WLS 9.2. The web service itself runs also on a WLS 9.2 where also the request and response queues are located. By default the client receives the responses from a temporary response queue. Is there a way to define a specific response queue e.g. setting the JMSReplyTo property in the request on the client side?

WLS do not have a light SOAP client with callbacks yet. It is
not a planed feature for 7.0, but we will considering this for
post 7.0.
