Jndi name in domain

I have one domain with 2 clusters.
Can I have 2 diff DataSources with the same jndi name, one for each cluster

So I can use the same jndi name for two datasources as long as I target them to
two different clusters.

Greetings,
javax.naming.NameNotFoundException. Root exception is
org.omg.CosNaming.NamingContextPackage.NotFound
=================
Below is the line of my LoginServlet class which is
referred to in the stack trace - Object object =
context.lookup
( "java:comp/env/ejb/WarehouseClerk" );The root of the naming context is 'java:comp/env' and this is where lookup automatically begins for EJBs and resources. IOW, by specifying "java:comp/env/ejb/WarehouseClerk" as the EJB lookup name the server is actually treating this as "java:comp/env/java:comp/env/ejb/WarehouseClerk". Specify only the ejb context ("ejb/WarehouseClerk") in your lookup and you should be fine.
Any help would be most appreciated.
SeanRegards,
Tony "Vee Schade" Cook

• Problem in setting up jndi name in servlet

hi,
I am using netbeans6.8, glassfishv3 with mysql5.1. I set up a new jdbc Resource & connection pool by using the glassifsh admin console, and associated the connection pool with jdbc resource
when i ping the status of the connection pool , it is success.
Following is the lines added from my config.xml file in glassfish domain
<jdbc-resource pool-name="knockknock_poool" description="For connecting with knockknock for testing" jndi-name="jdbc/knockknock" />
<jdbc-connection-pool datasource-classname="com.mysql.jdbc.jdbc2.optional.MysqlDataSource" max-pool-size="250" res-type="javax.sql.DataSource" steady-pool-size="32" description="pool for contains connection to connect with knockknock" name="knockknock_poool" non-transactional-connections="true" ping="true">
<property description="jdbcname" name="URL" value="jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/knockknock" />
<property description="knockknock" name="databaseName" value="knockknock" />
<property description="knockknock" name="datasourceName" value="knockknock" />

<property description="localhost" name="serverName" value="192.168.2.36" />

• JNDI name is not displayed in server console JNDI tree

Hi. I have two objects with similar JNDI names. Object 1 has JNDI name "abc.test1". Object 2 has JNDI name "Abc.test2". Here is difference in first char size: 'a' and 'A'.
The issue is that in JNDI tree weblogic server console displays only Object 1. To see Object 2 I can change JNDI name for this object, but I do not want to change JNDI name.
Is there any way to see both objects without renaming Object 2?
I use WebLogic Server 8.1 SP4.
JNDI tree is displayed from console left panel: <domain>-<server>-<server name>-<right mouse click>-"View JNDI tree"

Someone finally found this one (Farhan I think) - I hope you can find this link: its in this forum - just a few weeks old do a search on jndi on this forum if you don't find it.

• The DataSource with the JNDI name: contentDataSource could not be located

Hello,
We try to deploy our system/application to the servers that structed as
Machine one has:
1 administration domain
1 managed domain
Machine two has :
1 managed domain which is administrated by machine one.
I was trying to deploy the UI(portal application) to managed domain under Machine one. I got
error message as following:
Exception:weblogic.management.ApplicationException: activate failed for content.jar Module: content.jar Error: Exception activating module: EJBModule(content.jar,status=PREPARED) Unable to deploy EJB: ValueBean from content.jar: [EJB:011028]The DataSource with the JNDI name: contentDataSource could not be located. Please ensure that the DataSource has been deployed successfully and that the JNDI name in your EJB Deployment descriptor is correct.
I have portalFrameworkPool Data Sources deployed to both managed domains.
when I deploy the application to the server that has one one domain(both adminstrator domain and application domain are in one), it is fine.
Can some one with same experience, or BEA people provide some help on this? Very appreciate any help on this issue.
Thanks in advance.
Christina

:-p
If you go to each Managed Server on the console, you can see the Service tab and then go to JDBC. Under JDBC you can see all the pool connections. Instead of localhost they should be pointing to the specific hostname or ip address of the adminserver and the pointbase port on that server (9093 by default) so the EAR files can be correctly deployed and then the JNDI Tree will look exactly the same on both servers. Change all the connection pools to use the specific hostname instead of localhost. Hope this works for you.

• JDBC Datasource creation via ANT doesn't expose the JNDI name

I'm using the wlconfig ANT task to create a Datasource (& JDBC connectionpool) on the weblogic server. The datasource is created fine, and I can test it using the console.
The problem is that the provided JNDI name isn't exposed in the JNDI tree. This seems to be related to the fact that the following element is generated in the config/jdbc/CP-PoolName-2164-jdbc.xml
<jdbc-data-source>
<name>PoolName</name>
<internal-properties>
*<property>*
*<name>LegacyType</name>*
*<value>1</value>*
*</property>*
When removing the LegacyType 1 property from the JDBC config xml, the JNDI name is exposed fine.
I've used the instructions located at [http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs100/programming/ant_tasks.html] where an example of a JDBCConnectionPool creation is provided.
The 10.3 documentation doesn't include the example anymore, but I'm having the problem both on BEA Weblogic 10.0 and Oracle Weblogic 10.3
<wlconfig url="t3://localhost:7001" username="weblogic" password="weblogic">
bq. <query domain="base_domain" type="Server" name="AdminServer" property="adminserver"/>
bq. <create type="JDBCConnectionPool" name="MediumSecureOnlineNode1Pool" property="customPool1">
bq. bq. <set attribute="CapacityIncrement" value="1"/> \\ <set attribute="DriverName" value="oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver"/> \\ <set attribute="InitialCapacity" value="1"/> \\ <set attribute="MaxCapacity" value="10"/> \\ <set attribute="Password" value="pass"/> \\ <set attribute="Properties" value="user=username"/> \\ <set attribute="RefreshMinutes" value="0"/> \\ <set attribute="ShrinkPeriodMinutes" value="15"/> \\ <set attribute="ShrinkingEnabled" value="true"/> \\ <set attribute="TestConnectionsOnCreate" value="true"/> \\ <set attribute="TestConnectionsOnRelease" value="true"/> \\ <set attribute="TestConnectionsOnReserve" value="true"/> \\ <set attribute="TestTableName" value="SQL SELECT 1 FROM DUAL"/> \\ <set attribute="URL" value="jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521"/> \\ <set attribute="Targets" value="${adminserver}"/>
</create>
As we would like to automate the process of configuring our weblogic instances using ANT, is there a way to create JDBC datasources that don't have the LegacyType 1 element included in the config ?

Curious if you were ever able to find a resolution to this issue?
I am facing the same thing now with our Ant scripts and WL10.3 connection pools/datasources.
I would like to either specify a different LegacyType or suppress it altogether. Any help would be appreciated.
Many thanks,
Steve

• Getting jms queue jndi name via jmx

Hi all,
I'm writing a utility that will help us migrate jms messages to new servers, stores, etc. I would like to connect to a server and programmatically discover the jndi names of all the queues and topics on that server. I know how to get all the destination mbeans via jmx, but I don't see a way to get the jndi names for them. They have a Name attr, but it's not the jndi name. Is this possible with WLS 9.2?
thanks

I believe the attribute on the Destination Bean would be JNDIName, but I would use WLST to browse the information available via JMX. I.e.
1) connect to the domain
2) cd into the approriate jms system resource. Then perform ls() and cd() until you find the right information.
3) Then use print cmo - this will give you the JMX object name. ls() will show you the attribute name.
4) So you can either look up the MBeans directly using JMX or walk down the domain hierarchy

• Accessing Distributed destination JNDI Names Web

I am using WebLogic Full Client with Weblogic 10.3. I would like to obtain the JNDI names of the physical members of a Distributed Destination. Weblogic Documentation recommends doing:
"you must look up the JNDI name or the member name using the weblogic.jms.extensions.JMSModuleHelper class uddMakeName and uddMemberJNDIName APIs"
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11035_01/wls100/jms/dds.html#wp1314556
When I attempt to do the same using the Weblogic full client, I get a class not found exception where a QueueBean class is not found.
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: weblogic/j2ee/descriptor/wl/QueueBean
at com.overstock.jms.weblogic.ConfigurationMBeanHelper.main(ConfigurationMBeanHelper.java:150)
Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: weblogic.j2ee.descriptor.wl.QueueBean
What is the best way to obtain JNDI names of distributed destinations when using Weblogic Full Client? Any code snippets would be valuable.
Thanks.

I think there are a variety of ways to crack this nut. Here are a couple of ideas:
One option would be to write a server side proxy that the client can invoke. For example, a simple EJB (stateless session bean). Another option would be write client-side JMX calls that query either the runtime mbeans or config mbeans to get a list of JMS servers and/or UDD members.
All of these options may require that the domain's administrative server be up and running (not sure). The runtime mbean options would only yield active members.

• Deploytool: Can't specify a JNDI name for RA

Using j2eesdk1.4_beta2, it appears there is no way to specify a JNDI name for a Resource Adapter. Is there a default name I can use to look up my RA if I don't specify a name? The Deploy Tool help describes some tabbed panes appear to be missing from the appication. Is there a way to work around this problem until the final release comes out?

Headache!... That's what is expecting you in the DeployTool.
The deploytool generates invalid deployment descriptors for Resource Adaptors.
As you mentioned, it doesn't allow you to select a ResourceAdaptor implementation. In my case, I'm using my own Connection and ConnectionFactory and it didn't allow me to choose an implementation class for either interface neither.
I solved these problems by downloading XMLSpy and using the XML Schema to fill-in the gaps in the ra.xml descriptor. There I had also to include other mandatory elements that where not written by the deployTool, like: <display-name>
<vendor-name>
<eis-type>
<resourceadapter-version>
Regarding to the <<null>> error, it has to deal with an invalid sun-ra.xml. It's either empty or it's missing a mandatory element. I used again XML Spy here to give a JNDI to my adaptor.
I thought I was through it but I still can't deploy on the server. When I try, I get the following error:
<[INFO][j2eesdk1.4_beta2][][][12][javax.enterprise.system.tools.admin][03.november.2003 22:16:22:351 CET][ADM5604:Processing config change [Domain:add to xpath=/domain/applications

So far I haven't found a way to get solve this one. The <NAMESPACE_ERR> makes me think about the infamous 'locale' error of the deploytool, but I included the JVM parameters [USER_LANG=en,USER_REGION=US,USER_COUNTRY=US] in the server startup and it didn't change anything.
If you get further than that, please let me know.
-regards,
Gerard.

• JNDI Names of JMS server's queue not replicating to cluster

Am having some trouble configuring a JMS Server and Queues in a clustered development
environment. It is a simple cluster of 2 servers (Server1 and Server2) both on
a single machine.
The "JobServer" JMS Server is targeted to "Server1 (migratable)". All the JNDI
names for the Queues appear in the JNDI tree of Server1, but not in Server2.
When the sending of a message is attempted on Server2, the following occurs:
javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: While trying to lookup 'jms.STARSIIPostQueue'
didn't find subcontext 'jms' Resolved ; remaining name 'jms/STARSIIPostQueue'
at weblogic.jndi.internal.BasicNamingNode.newNameNotFoundException(BasicNamingNode.java:858)
This may be a problem with the cluster configuration, but I haven't been able
to see anything wrong with it.

• Crystal Reports XI and Sun One 6.1 web server SP 5 Error finding JNDI name

I am trying to create a Crystal Reports XI report in a JSP using Sun One 6.1 Web server sp 5.
At this point I am getting the error Error finding JNDI name on Sun One
The application will run on Netbeans/Tomcat
I have done the following:
I edited CRConfig.xml
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<CrystalReportEngine-configuration>

<DataDriverCommon>
<JavaDir>C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_10\bin</JavaDir>
<Classpath>C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\client_1\jdbc\lib\ojdbc14.jar;</Classpath>

<JDBC>
<CacheRowSetSize>100</CacheRowSetSize>
<JDBCURL>jdbc:oracle:thin:@10.10.10.10:1521:dev</JDBCURL>
<JDBCClassName>oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver</JDBCClassName>
<JDBCUserName>lab_ro</JDBCUserName>
<JNDIURL></JNDIURL>

</JDBC>
I created a report using JDBC (JNDI) connection and have the JNDI Connection set to the name of DATA.
The report works just fine in Crystal Reports.
Then in Netbeans I created an application and it runs in the Tomcat part of Netbeans
In context.xml I have:
<Context path="/BOEnterpriseTest3">
<Resource name="jdbc/dev" auth="Container" type="javax.sql.DataSource"
driverClassName="oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver" url="jdbc:oracle:thin:@10.10.10.10:1521:dev"
username="theuserid" password="thepassword" maxActive="20" maxIdle="10" maxWait="-1"/>
</Context>
In web.xml I have
<web-app>
<context-param>
<param-name>crystal_image_uri</param-name>
<param-value>crystalreportviewers11</param-value>
</context-param>

<taglib>
<taglib-uri>/crystal-tags-reportviewer.tld</taglib-uri>
<taglib-location>/WEB-INF/crystal-tags-reportviewer.tld</taglib-location>
</taglib>

<res-sharing-scope>Shareable</res-sharing-scope>
</resource-ref>
</web-app>
in web-inf\sun-web.xml I have

I have copied all of Common Files\Business Objects\3.0\java\lib and Common Files\Business Objects\3.0\java\lib\external to the lib folder
I have copied crystalreportviewers11 to the root of my web application
I have tried to load the JNDI information and display the report

• Override JNDI names in persistence.xml and @resource annotation

I have a Java EE 7 application that I am developing for use with both GlassFish and WildFly, but I have discovered that both application servers use a slightly different format for specifying JNDI names.
In GlassFish the persistence.xml file references the data source jdbc/myDataSouce, but in WildFly the data source needs to be java:/jdbc/myDataSource.The same is also true for classes that are annotated with @Resource. In GlassFish the annotation for a class using JavaMail would be @Resource(name = "mail/myMailSession"), but to deploy onto WildFly this would need to be @Resource(name = "java:mail/myMailSession").
The only solution I've got at present is using Maven to create two different releases of the EAR file, with one EAR file containing a persistence.xml file with the data source jdbc/myDataSouce for use with GlassFish, and the second EAR file containing a persistence.xml file with the data source java:/jdbc/myDataSource for use with WildFly. Unfortunately, I haven't found a solution for the @Resource annotation.
I've taken a look at the documentation for glassfish-application.xml and glassfish-ejb-jar.xml and have tried using resource-ref to override the JNDI names but the application fails to deploy due to an error in the name.
My question is does GlassFish provide any capability to override the JNDI names specified in the persistence.xml file and classes with the @resource annotation?
Many Thanks
Paul

Have you been able to solve this? I'm attempting to understand what Web Server 7 can do with regard to Java Persistence and what elements of it require Glassfish.
I've also spent great amounts of time in WS6.1 trying to figure out why a JNDI resource couldn't be found. The rules of thumb I've learned are:
- Try dropping the *'java:/comp/env/* prefix; just use jdbc/pact part
- Make sure all referrences (in web.xml and sun-web.xml) are identical with regard to that name.
I'm hoping you're not still dealing with this (it's been two months!) but if anybody else stumbles on this, maybe it'll help them.

• Jndi-name javax.naming.NameAlreadyBoundException:

Hi,
I am getting the following error while deploying a CMP Bean. Initially
this started to deploy, but later when I recompiled the source files

In fact I am tired of trying to see what's actually happening.
Your immediate response is highly appreciated.

• A problem determining the JNDI Name of a local EJB with WL 8.1

Hi,
I created a very simple local EJB and deployed it with Weblogic8.1. When I test
it in the Weblogic server admin page, I got the following message:
"The EJB MyLocal has not been tested successfully. There was a problem determining
the JNDI Name of the given bean."
Can anyone help figure out the problem?
Thanks
Henry

Does the ejb have a target server specified?
Does the Ejb have a Jndi binding as specified in the <local-jndi-name></local-jndi-name>
element of weblogic-ejb-jar.xml?
thanks,
