Job console messages in log file

Hi All,
Is there a log file which logs the job console messages...where is it located ...we are on V11.1.2.,,....We have a issue with Job console validation......when a EPMA planning application is validated...it has some errors....but when we try to open the attachment to get more details...a new window opens and closes immediatly...
how can we check the error messages?

In IE try going to Internet Options > Security > Custom Level > Downloads > File Downloads > enable
This should allow the text file to open when you try to open the attachment.

Hello,
To generate the log report, /VIRSA/ZVFATBAK program is scheduled on hourly basis but some time report doesn't get generated and if we see the background job then it shows sucessfully finished.
If we see the maually the log report for FFID then below error message is displayed.
" BACKGROUND JOB WAS NOT SCHEDULED/LOG FILE NOT YET GENERATED"
Can anyone guide me to solve the issue.

Hi,
once chk the status of the job by selecting that and check job status(cltr+shift_f12)
since it was periodically scheduled job there will be a RELEASED job after every active job..
so try to copy that into another job using copy option and give some new name which u have to remember...
the moment u copy u can find the same copied job in SCHEDULED status...
from here, try to run it again on hourly basis....
After copying the job u can unschedule the old released job to scheduled otherwise 2 will run at a time...

Job number from alert log file to information

I have a question about job numbers in alert log file. Today one of our Oracle 10g R2 [10.2.0.4] RAC nodes crashed. After examining alert log file for one of the nodes I saw a lot of messages like:

After examining trc files I have found no further information about error except session ids.
My question is: how to find what job caused these messages to appear in alert log file.
How do I map number in alert log file to some "real" information (owner, statement executed, schedule)?

Printing messages in Log File and Output File using Dbms_output.put_line

Hi,
I have a requirement of printing messages in log file and output file using dbms_output.put_line instead of fnd_file.put_line API.
Please let me know how can I achieve this.
I tried using a function to print messages and calling that function in my main package where ever there is fnd_file.put_line. But this approach is not required by the business.
So let me know how I can achieve this functionality.

Data Services 4.0 Designer. Job Execution but empty log file no matter what

Hi all,
am running DS 4.0. When i execute my batch_job via designer, log window pops up but is blank. i.e. cannot see any trace messages.
doesn't matter if i select "Print all trace messages" in execution properties.
Jobserver is running on a seperate server. The only thing i have locally is just my designer.
if i log into the Data Services management console and select the job server, i can see trace and error logs from the job. So i guess what i need is for this stuff to show up in my designer?
Did i miss a step somewhere?
can't find anything in docs about this.

Getting script to write output to console and a log file

Hello everyone. I'm working on a script that will search through a bunch of folders, pull anything larger than 50Kb out and then write a log file of what it moved. What I have so far is what I've pieced together through my research. It works, but it doesn't
write anything to the console which I believe is why my log isn't showing any info.
Here's the code:

Soo, what did I change?
- Replaced checking for item type I checked the PSIsContainer property (which is true for folders)
- Combined the two Where-Object calls into a single one
- Fixed the path for copy-item destination
- Added the -PassThru parameter - otherwise Copy-Item won't give output causing you to export nothing to file.
- Fixed a typo - Out=File --> Out-File

Cannot conect to Job server after redirecting log files

Platform: Windows
Software: Data Services 3.0 (Data Integrator 12.0.0)
Issue: When redirecting the Log files to go to another drive on the windows Server, we are unable to reconnect to the Job Server with Designer.
We did the following to re-direct the Log files:
In the DSConfig.txt file on the machine where the jobserver runs, they will find a section similar to the following:

(As with any DSConfig.txt edits, I always tell customers to be very careful, to only follow instructions they receive from customer assurance, and to make backups of the prior file in case they need to revert.)
Note that there is a u201CWestu201D jobserver defined with the 1 suffix, and an u201CEastu201D jobserver defined with the 2 suffix. Both jobservers will by default log into %LINK_DIR%\log\ into a directory named after their jobserver name. If the customer wants to redirect the logs for the u201CWestu201D jobserver to a different path, add the following to this section:
AL_JobServerLogReDir1=D:\dierrorlogs\Log
Note the use of the suffix 1 u2013 it means that it will be a part of the settings for the u201CWestu201D jobserver. The u201CEastu201D jobserver will still log to %LINK_DIR%\log\EastJS while the u201CWestu201D jobserver will log to D:\dierrorlogs\Log.
All we did was add the one single line AL_JobServerLogReDir1="E:\Program Files\BusinessObjects\dierrorlogs\Log"
Can anyone give us some sort of suggestion or idea as to why we lost our connection to our Job Server with this change? We DID restart the service.

since you modified the path, I don't think it will be generating any log file for Job server

Can console.app parse log files?

The Console app displays the system.log file differently from other files ending in .log - it can display different columns with Time, sender, Message, host, etc. Additionally you can search for specific messages.
Here is my question:
Is is possible to display other log files like this? Maybe it's possible to create a "pattern file" that teaches Console how to display my files nicely? I am a web programmer and would like to read the custom log files from my applications in Console in a nicely formatted way.

I don't think the Console application will do what you want. The view that you describe is coming out of a database (/var/log/asl.db); it's not being displayed by directly parsing the text files.
Now, you can add to this asl.db database by utilizing syslogd (see "man asl.conf" and "man syslogd" for more information), which could in theory control what you see in Console. However, that's not going to be as clean or as easy as I think you'd like.
Hope this helps a little...

Warning 11 message in log files

I had Sun One Identity Synchronization for Windows working with AD. I removed the Message Queue when I upgrade another DS on the machine which broke the Idsync. I have reinstalled the packages for IMS3_0_1 that I removed. The Message Queue is starting and appears to be loading the correct data. However, when I do a /etc/init.d/isw start, the Idsync does not come up and I get the following error messages in isw watchdog error.log file:

Okay, this is resolved. I moved the jdk to another directory as well in an attempt to do some house cleaning. I thought I had made the necessary changes in all the right places. Just for the fun of it, I made a copy of the jdk to the original directory then everything started working again. So I am guessing that the Warning 11 message must mean that there is not a valid java executable for the components and subcomponenets to start.
Well, that saves me a weekend of work. Now onto other things!

Pptp error messages in log-files.

I've got internet connection from my provider via VPN. After configuring network (article Microsoft VPN client setup with pptpclient) internet works, but many error messages appears in daemon.log and messages.log like that:

1. re: Smart Crash Reports error. "Smart Crash Reports" is an Unsanity hack. Either you installed it or it was perhaps installed by another of their hacks you have installed. In either case, that's a question for Unsanity to answer.
2. re: The SpeedTools extension you cited. Check their documentation or their Web site for instructions on uninstalling the extension. You may be able to start up in Safe Mode (which prevents third-party kernel extensions from loading), then drag it from the Macintosh HD > System > Library > Extensions folder to your desktop, then restart your Mac. However, I'd check the SpeedTools documentation first. See my "Uninstalling applications" FAQ for important advice on uninstalling software.

Syslogd -u not writing network messages to log file

i'm trying to get remote logging of airport bs debug level log message to work.
the airport bs it's doing it's part according to tcpdump:
# tcpdump -i en1 port syslog
tcpdump: verbose output suppressed, use -v or -vv for full protocol decode

config looks appropriate in /etc/syslog.conf:
local0.* /var/log/appfirewall.log
and the log file exists.
the syslog launchctl file says:
<string>/usr/sbin/syslogd</string>
<string>-u</string>
<string>-c 7</string>
and ps confirms that the options are working:
/usr/sbin/syslogd -u -c 7
but the log messages i see arriving from the bs aren't being written to the log file and don't see a network socket for the udp receiver in the netstat -a output.
i suspect that syslogd configuration may have been moved out of /etc and the airport help topics haven't been updated to reflect the new methods.
any ideas or pointers?

i found the answer. there's a section at the end of /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.syslogd.plist that needs uncommenting to enable the udp listener.

capture a sniffer trace to see exactly what's going on.
Going to the server with a browser may work because using GET/POST method, but the CSS configured the way you did will use a HEAD method which could be a problem for your server.
The server could be slow to respond as well.
Try to increase the keepalive frequence since the timeout is linked to the frequency.
Finally, you may want to configure a url to poll with the command 'keepalive uri .....'
Once again, by simply sniffing between the CSS and the server, you will know exactly where is the problem.

Incosistencies between Analyzer Server Console and stout.log file

Hi, In stout.log file of application server file there is a record: "Setting Current User Count To: 2 Users. Maximum Concurrent Licensed User Count Is: 10 Users." So 2 licences are ured, but checking "Analyer Server Console" there is only one user connected. After restarting computer "Analyzer Server Console" and stout.log number of users are sinhronized. But I don't know what happens, but after some time this two parameters are not sinhronized anymore. My problem: I have to show the number of user licences used and I am reading info rom stout.log. But something is not correct - it looks like stout.log doesn't show correct values? Do I need to specify some setting or is there a bug in code? My system: Hyperion Analytic Server version 7.1.0 Hyperion Analyzer Server version 7.0.1.8.01830 IBM DB2 Workgroup Edition version 8 fixpack 9 Tomcat version 4 Windows 2003 Server

Hi grofaty. We use 7.0.0.0.01472 and I had experienced the same behaviour, Analyzer Server Console shows one more session than stdout.log. If this difference 1 is a static value than you can assume it as an systematic bug...and do your license counting on it... But again the Analyzer Server Console is not good as it should be for productive usage because all the information is only logged online til the next application restart. E.g. it is not helpful in using it for user tracking purposes. Do you use the stdout.log in such a way or have an idea how to grep measures for session logging analysis: - Session ID - User ID - Client ID - Total Number of Requests - Average Response (sec) - Login Time - Number of concurrent sessions ?
