Jpeg encoding in headless environment PLEASE HELP

Hello, thank you so much for anyone that might be able to help me. If I am in the wrong forum, sorry.. please tell me where I need to go (I'm new here).
I am running a servlet (tomcat 4.01 - JRE 1.4.1) that uploads jpg images and creates thumbnails from them in a headless environment. The images are created without a problem for some amount of time and then all the images created are black (but they are the correct size). I haven't figured out what the trigger is yet. The memory seems to be ok (5 - 20MB left depending on how big the upload is). The only think I can do to make the process work correctly again is to restart the server. I have written out the image to a file before converting it and the image uploads fine... just the resized thumbnail is black. I have seen other issues like this which say to use a MediaTracker but I have 2 questions about that:
1) I don't have a component to use for the MediaTracker because I get a HeadlessException
2) I save the uploaded content into a byte array before converting so, I should have it already, right?
Below is the code I am using and any help would GREATLY appreciated. I thank anyone for taking the time to read this!

  • Premiere CS4 doesn't launch media encoder when exporting. Please help!

Trying to finish up a project but my school just upgraded to cs4 this week. It's running on a mac. I tried to export to no avail, watched a tutorial and saw that media encoder is supposed to launch on export. Since it wasn't launching, I went to media encoder and launched it seperately and re-exported. It still did not work. Is there a patch that needs downloading? Please help me get through this. I need to wrap this up ASAP.
    Thanks!

Here's a great thread I found. Not the answer I was hoping to hear though...

  • Encoding error...please help

I am trying to create a DVD of a bunch of movies I made in Adobe Premiere. There are 10 mp4 files in 2 submenus. Everything views fine and no warning in the DVD map. Once iDVD gets finished rendering the menus and starts on the videos I get an encoding error. I have tried throwing things out (cache and pref), I've recreated the project 4x and even made the project on two different computers. I'm at my wits end...please PLEASE help me.

    Hi
    Two problems arises
    • What did the Error Message - read ?
    • .mp4 - If I understands this right it's not a codec (file format) but a container as .avi or .mov and can contan codecs that iDVD can use or not.
Open the .mp4 file in QuickTime and open inspector and read Codec: ???????

  • MEDIA ENCODER ISSUES...PLEASE HELP!

IVE BEEN USING ADOBE CS4 MASTER COLLECTION FOR 2 YEARS AND AM NOW HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MEDIA ENCODER! I CAN OPEN NO PROBLEM...BUT WHEN I TRY ADDING A SUPPORTED FILE TO ENCODE IT FREEZES?....IF IT DOES MAKE IT PAST THAT POINT WHICH SELDOM IT DOES WHEN I HIT TH EQUE BUTTON IT WILL SAY CONFORMING AND AFTER 30 SECONDS OR SO IT BECOMES UN REPSONSIVE! ANY HELP WITH THIS ISSUE WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Please try downloading the trial version of Premiere Pro CS5.5 and see if you still encounter this hang. You can get it here: http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=premiere_pro&promoid=DJDVF
As for diagnosing why AME suddenly started having this problem, here are a few things to think about/try:
You say that you've successfully transcoded mpg files to avi, but I presume you weren't always transcoding the exact same clip to the exact same avi settings. So....
maybe there's something different about the current source clip (a different codec used to create it, some glitch in the data stream, greater length). Please try encoding an mpg clip that succeeded previously.
if you're using a different AVI preset or custom settings this time than you've used in the past, then please try encoding to a preset that has worked before.
Has anything changed on the system that could explain this new behavior:
update to the OS, Adobe software, or graphics driver
change of hardware such as a new graphics card.
installation of a new codec pack
If none of the above helps, then I suggest deleting AppPrefs file for AME and, if that doesn't work, then the media cache files. If you don't know where to find those, then please indicate which OS you're on so we can give you the exact paths.

  • Production environment, please help...

    Hi,
we have a large BC4J web based application.
we plan to put it production to allow to 40 CONCURENT USERS to connect to...
after testing the application in stand-alone OC4J. it works well, nut at some moments, the server print the message
like out of memory and it becomes realy slow. i restarted the OC4J
like java -Doc4j.userThreads=true -Xms100m -Xmx800m oc4j.jar to increase the heap and i hope that this will
    solve the problem.
no for the production environment :
    hardware
    Sun server
    4 x CPU x 450
    4 G on RAM.
    software
    Sun Solaris 8
    Oracle 9iAS R 2 (9.0.2.0.0)
so what is the good configuration for the OC4J in 9iAS to get our system support all users. should we
    use - Doc4j.userThreads=true -Xms100m -Xmx800m even whith 9iAS.
    thank you for your help.

    El Bachir,
The heap size is dependent upon your application and no. of concurrent users you are using. Yes, you can specify the the heap size for OC4J also in an Oracle9iAS instance from the EMWebsite by navigating OC4J Instance ->Server Properties -> specify the parameters for the Java command.
For details how to determine the heapsize please look at the Performancing Guide. Here is the link

  • Some japanese character encoded to "?". Please help me..

    My system is below listed.
    J2SE 1.4.1
    MySql Ver 11.18 Distrib 3.23.52,
    Resin 2.1.4
Java application load html document encoded 'SHIFT_JIS' using HtmlURLConnection.
And read the document in 'SHIFT_JIS'.
Almost it appears properly but some of characters printed in '?'.
    hm....
I will show my source code.
    private String readDocument(URL url) {
    String METHOD_NM = ".readDocument()";
    try {
    HttpURLConnection URLCon = (HttpURLConnection)url.openConnection();
    BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader( new InputStreamReader(url.openStream(), "SJIS"));
    String inputLine;
On my web server, input the character(printed '?') on textbox in IE6(japanese language pack). and submit. then the character translated the code(ex> #4575; )
The code inserted DB. select from DB the tuple.
and display the IE6. it's ok.
but loaded from japanese html. It's inserted to DB '?'.
    and displayed '?' on IE6.
I want to translate the character to code(ex> #5455;).
    OK?
    Please reply...
p.s I'm sorry my poor english..

    Thank you for reply.
    but I've already tried that.
I have tried all japanese encoding of "Supported Encodings" from java.
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/docs/guide/intl/encoding.doc.html
    I want to convert that.
    ex)
    ?fe? => & # 4532; fe & # 3456; => original charcater is removed blank
This is convert '?' to code number.
In this case '?' is Japanese character.
Please let me know the way..

    Hi There
I had messages on my phone which disappeared when i did a back up (this has never happened before). I had not made any changes, just carried out a back-up.

  • Identical query, unusable performance in one environment - please help

We are attempting to upgrade from 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.2 but one of our reporting queries is completely struggling (30 seconds in our current environment, 4000 seconds in our upgraded environment).
Note that the caveat is that it will be very difficult for me to modify the SQL (its coming from a different IT group, and their position is that it should not have to be modified given that it runs so well in the current production environment).
The query is exactly the same in both environments, and carries the same SQL_ID, but explain plans are different.
The environment in which the query works is version 10.2.0.4, and elapsed time per the trace is 30.15 seconds, 841 rows returned.
The new environment is 11.2.0.2, elapsed time is 4035 seconds, 841 rows returned.
The environments are comparable in terms of CPU/Memory/IO (both are writing to NFS mounts on our NetApp)
SGA_MAX/TARGET and PGA_AGGREGATE_TARGET are the same in both environments, as are HASH_AREA_SIZE and SORT_AREA_SIZE.
Underlying table data is identical, and all indexes are the same in both environments. Stats have been gathered and this behavior has persisted through multiple reboots of the databases.
I've run traces on the statements in both environments and the performance difference appears to be due to direct path read/write temp:

Sorry - you're right, no significance, very new to this - based on this article i assumed the hash algorithm to get SQL_ID from SQL text would be the same across different instances:
    http://blog.tanelpoder.com/2009/02/22/sql_id-is-just-a-fancy-representation-of-hash-value/
    Trying again:
Current environment, 10.2.0.4, 30 seconds for all rows, explain plan with predicate information

  • Encoding question please help

    hello
i have a 115 minute long project. it was 6.2 GB so i switched it over to best quality and no longer kept it in best performance.
its been an hour but nothing has encoded! there all blank bars. i read in the help section of idvd this:
"Note: +Background encoding is only available when you choose Best Performance as your encoder setting in the Projects pane of iDVD preferences+."
i also went up to advance at the top option menu thing and saw how backround encoding is faded out.
how can i encode these files? should i close the idvd application? i dont know what to do if they wont encode in the backround. please help! im on a really tight time limit! and need 50 dvds burned by tues!
    thankyou!

If you are going to burn 50 copies you should do that from a disk image. When you save the project as a disk image it will start rendering (encoding).
As a rough guide, rendering will take about 3x the project length, the actual burning about 50% or less of the project length.
Let your Mac have a rest for 15 minutes after burning 3 copies. Your superdrive will thank you!

  • Adobe Media Encoder error, please help

I've just recently tried to use Adobe Media Encoder for the first time and no luck. When I try to run a queue it gives me the following error message and shuts down. I have AME version 5.0.1.0 64 bit for Win 7 64 bit. I'm trying to convert a .MPG into any other format. I've tried many different configurations and it still shuts down. Please help. I want to use this thing.
    Adobe Media Encoder Debug Event
Adobe Media Encoder has encountered an error.
    [..\..\Exporter.cpp-390]
    button - Continue
    then it shuts down

    Hi,
Having exactly the same issue. Did you manage to resolve?

  • Adobe media encoder error message - please help

I purchased adobe creative suite 4 web standard in january of 2010.  I'm in the process of learning how to use all the features.  I am building a website in dreamweaver and wanted to create and import a flash movie.  I opened adobe media encoder from my program files.  I added an avi file to the encoder, chose a medium quality for web, and clicked Start Queue.  I then got the following pop up error message:
    Error Message:
    Adobe Media Encoder Debug Event
Adobe Media Encoder has encountered an error.
    [..\..\Src\Win\WinFile.cpp-754]
    Please help.
    Thank You.

  • Error during rendering/encoding -- PLEASE HELP!!

Hey everybody!! After trying twice to burn this project to DVD, I'm about ready to rip my hair out!! First of all, here's the specifics about my computer:
    Mac OS 10.3.7 / 800 MHZ Power PC G4 / 256 MB SDRam / My programs are iMovie 4 and I have iDVD5
OK, I'm trying to burn a movie that is about 1 hour, 23 minutes long. Even though my movie is not 90 minutes long, iDVD does tell me that it is too long and that I need to click on "Best Performance" in my iDVD Preferences. No problem, I did that. (By the way, at the time of the burning, I have about 5.1 GB on space left on my hard drive.)
Before burning I do repair permissions and delete my "com.apple.idvd.plist".
So, it burns and burns for roughly 6 hours. Right at the very end, the disk spits out and an error message comes up saying:
    Encoding Video
    Error during rendering/encoding:
This is very frustrating because I need to get this video done by tonight and turn it in by Monday morning!!
    Any suggestions?? Please help!!! Thanxx!!

I have about 5.1 GB on space left on my hard drive
I don't think that's enough. Remember a DVD is 4.7GB (which iDVD first stores on your hard drive) plus temporary files that iDVD needs.

  • Production Environment RFC's for EWA.... Please help!!

We have some of the production environment setup EWA. I will need to add else which are left. I have setup EWA in sandbox for testing. worked fine. but i have question about RFC's.
    My all DEV systems has the following RFC's in solman;
    SM_XXXCLNT100_LOGIN
    SM_XXXCLNT100_READ
    SM_XXXCLNT100_TMW
    SM_XXXCLNT100_TRUSTED
But my all QAS and PRODUCTION system has the following RFC'c in solman.
    SM_XXXCLNT100_LOGIN
    SM_XXXCLNT100_READ
    SM_XXXCLNT100_TMW
    I thought when I generate auto RFC's from SMSY, it creates the following;
    SM_XXXCLNT100_READ
    SM_XXXCLNT100_TMW
    SM_XXXCLNT100_TRUSTED
What should I do? if it creates _TRUSTED ONE in PRD, should I delete it? Please help!!
Question: If I am generating auto RFC's for PRD, it created _LOGIN one too? I am totaly confused??
    Thanks,
    I will definitely post points

The only reason I want to do that because I have to talk to security folks for that, they will go and look at the other production environments which dont have _TRUSTED rfc...
Like as I have mentioned, all production has the following rfc's
    SM_XXXCLNT100_LOGIN
    SM_XXXCLNT100_READ
    SM_XXXCLNT100_TMW.
I dont understand only one thing. how can I get _LOGIN rfc?
The only reason I am asking, when I did EWA in sandbox, It did not generate _LOGIN rfc...
    Do you have any idea?
    Thanks,

  • MEDIA ENCODER crash error: c:ame820_win\releases\external\adobe\mediacore\mediafoundation\api\  PLEASE HELP

    WORKSTATION HP Z600
    XEON E5645 12GB RAM NVIDIA QUADRO 2000 WIN 8.1 64bit
    BLACKMAGIC DESIGN ULTRASTUDIO SDI
    good morning,
I have some problems with premiere pro cc 2014 release 2
the most important is that Media Encoder crashes and the following error:
    c:ame820_win\releases\external\adobe\mediacore\mediafoundation\api\
The second problem is that when I open the software you group all the windows on one side.
Does anyone know what I need to do to solve these two problems?
    please help
    Andrea

I do have a 64 bit OS - Win 7. The RAM does provide a noticable difference in performance - things are much more "snappy" now, which I'm enjoying, but hasn't eliminated my problem.
The encoder does not stop at the same point, it seems to be quite random. I can view the files that I've exported (up until the point they cut off) and there's nothing going on in the clip that would be any sort of red flag - in other words, it is not stopping the coding at a point where a new color correction or title is being introduced, it had all happened previously. This is my first large project on CS4, and I don't have anything else to export at the moment!
I'm not running premiere in multi-monitor mode: I've got a 24" widescreen monitor that is my sole monitor.
I have COMBED the interwebs trying to find a resolution to this issue, and I am no where... I'm currently installing CS4 on a XP machine that I have that is pretty robust, and am going to try encoding on that, just to see if I get a different result.
Any suggestions at all would be MOST appreciated!
    Thanks!
