[JR_Registration;6iR4.2;8.1.7.3.0] Various error messages trying to register schemas

Hello !
I've a problem to register schemas. These schemas depend on each others (i.e. Schema #2 references Schema #1 with a foreign key ).
The designer's repository (6i R4.2) is on a 8.1.7.3.0 Database.
I have three question using jr_registration.generate (up to now :-> )
Question #1:
============
Starting with the base schema (no FK) SQL*Plus comes up with
ORA-00001 unique constraint (<repos_owner>.RM_LINK_PROPERTIES_PK) violated
( all error messages continue the same:
ORA-06512: in "COLANI.JR_REG", Zeile 903
ORA-06512: in "COLANI.JR_REGISTRATION", Zeile 112
ORA-06512: in Zeile 2
logfile information:
06-Mai-2002 17:23:36 : Creating Link Properties for Table : <the table_name>
link property (M end) : new id : <number #1>
link property (1 end) : new id : <number #2>
link property (1 end) : new name : <name #1>
link property (M end) : new id : <number #3>
link property (1 end) : new id : <number #4>
link property (1 end) : new name : <name #2>
link property (M end) : new id : <number #1, allready used !!!>
------------------------------------------------------- end of logfile ---
How do I solve this ?
Question #2
===========
ORA-01403 no data found
logfile information:
Failed to query element type mapped to PK table : <primary key>
------------------------------------------------------- end of logfile ---
This primary key is contained in an other (therefore not now existing) schema.
Seems acceptable :->
The <primary key> just reads <constraint_name> and not <schema_owner>.<constraint_name>.
This leaves me with the question:
Is it any possible to generate/register the required schema dependencies ?
Question #3
===========
I tried another schema referencing a not now existing schema (which doesn't seem to be the problem here).
Although the table did not contain any data:
ORA-01401 inserted value too large for column
logfile information:
Setting schema irid : <irid> , ivid : 1
06-Mai-2002 17:46:11 : Table : <table_name>
06-Mai-2002 17:46:11 : Table : <table_name>
------------------------------------------------------- end of logfile ---
The <DATA_TYPE>s for the last table reads
DATE
NUMBER (10,0)
NUMBER
various VARCHAR2 (1-80)
The <DATA_TYPE>s for the possible next table ( according to <DBA_TABLES> ordered by <Table_name> ):
DATE
NUMBER
various VARCHAR2 (1-80)
What could be the reason ?
Thanks for your help

I found an answer on Metalink for question 1:

  • Cannot register schema in repository :(

    Hi!
    I tried to register my esixting schema (8.1.7) in Repository 6i following the instructions:
    begin
    jr_registration.register('KRUPENN', TRUE, TRUE, TRUE, 'e:\oracle\admin\logs', 'jr_reg.log', FALSE, TRUE);
    end;
    but running the script would result in error message:

  • Registering existing Schema in SCM

    Using SQLPlus, and following the SCM help file instructions, I am attempting to register (and generate) an existing Oracle schema in SCM. The jr_registration.register procedure was successful. However, the jr_registration.generate procedure fails.
    When I enter
    SQL> begin
    2 jr_registration.generate('scuderi');
    3 end;
    4 /
    SQLPlus responds with the following:
    begin
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small
    ORA-06512: at "REPOS_MANAGER.JR_GEN", line 4329
    ORA-06512: at "REPOS_MANAGER.JR_REGISTRATION", line 148
    ORA-06512: at line 2
    What is required to resolve this condition?

    I'm currently evaluating SCM and I get the exactly same error when trying to generate a schema I've registered before successfully. (It's the HR8 schema included within jdeveloper)
    Is there any solution to this problem?
    Thanks,
    Walter

  • Error by registering a schema for designer

    hello,
    I have succesfully registered (jr_registration.register) the schema in sql. Then I tried to generate it, and got an error, that the name is too long. I shortened the name of the index and startet the generate procedure again and now get:

  • Register and Generate schema.. please help

    Hi All,
    I'm trying to do Reverse Engineering( Table to Entity).
    I have schema called SCOTT and i want to register and generate SCOTT schema into REPS schema.
    I have a problem with register and Generate the schema SCOTT.
    I'm connecting as REPS.
    I'm writing the code like this...
    begin
    jr_registration.register('SCOTT');
    end;
    begin
    jr_registration.GENERATE('SCOTT');
    end;
    when i run this code, i'm getting lot of unwanted tables into REPS Schema.
    Does anybody Know, where i'm doing mistake.. ?
    Thanks in advance.

    I have given all the privilages, which are in the list.
    And it owns by SCOTT only...
    I'm connecting as a Repositiry OWNER...
    The Interesting part is, it doesn't show any errors..but i couldn't see any tables in the REPS_OWNER schema.
    I'm trying to generate from SCOTT SCHEMA ---> REPS_OWNER
    schema.
    Any clue.. ?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Designer - Schema split

    Hi All,
    I use a designer schema which I generate an Installation DB application kit from.
    Now I need to split the existing schema (let's say 2 users...).
    - How do I make it from an existing schema ?
    - How do I create a new user and a new schema ?
    - How do I define the relation between a user and a table ?
    - Can I manage the needed synonyms and grants between the users via the designer?
    - What should be done with the foreign keys between both schemas?
    Thanks in advance,
    Masha

    Yes, you are right, I need to find registered PL/SQL in the Designer. But I can't see it neither in RON nor in DE. I try to find it under repository owner, where I have registered the schema. May be I must to do some extra steps along with registration/generation?
    Here is my code I'm using for registration "repository_user" user:
    begin
    jr_registration.register('repository_user');
    commit;
    jr_registration.generate('repository_user');
    commit;
    end;

  • Schema generate error ORA-04071

    Im trying to generate a schema into SCM using jr_registration.generate(schema_name=>NAME);. Every time it fails with this error:
    ORA-04071: missing BEFORE, AFTER or INSTEAD OF keyword
    ORA-06512: at "REPOS_MANAGER.JR_GEN", line 4329
    ORA-06512: at "REPOS_MANAGER.JR_REGISTRATION", line 148
    ORA-06512: at line 2
    After reviewing the log its happening on the first schema trigger its trying to generate. The syntax for the trigger create is incorrect.
    create or replace trigger A_TRIGGER TRIGGER_COLUMN" AFTER
    UPDATE OF "TRIGGER_COLUMN" ON "NAME"."i$A_TABLE" FOR EACH ROW begin if not jr_context.constraints_enabled then return; end if;
    There is a missing before the name of the trigger and it also seems to be adding the triggering column to trigger name.
    This error occurred in SCM 9.0.2.4. I installed the patch to 9.0.2.6 expecting it would be corrected, but its still happening.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Alan Glasmire

    This looks like a bug... Can you open a tar with support and provide the original and modified XML Schemas...
    Do you have the option of dropping and re-creating the user at this point ?

  • Oracle Designer, schema registration

    Hi all,
    I have registered a DB schema in Oracle Designer (via jr_registration.register / jr_registration.generate). I understand how to use registered tables, but what about registered pl/sql packages? Where can I see them and how can I put them under version control?
    Thanks.

  • A problem with threads

    I am trying to implement some kind of a server listening for requests. The listener part of the app, is a daemon thread that listens for connections and instantiates a handling daemon thread once it gets some. However, my problem is that i must be able to kill the listening thread at the user's will (say via a sto button). I have done this via the Sun's proposed way, by testing a boolean flag in the loop, which is set to false when i wish to kill the thread. The problem with this thing is the following...
    Once the thread starts excecuting, it will test the flag, find it true and enter the loop. At some point it will LOCK on the server socket waiting for connection. Unless some client actually connects, it will keep on listening indefinatelly whithought ever bothering to check for the flag again (no matter how many times you set the damn thing to false).
    My question is this: Is there any real, non-theoretical, applied way to stop thread in java safely?
    Thank you in advance,
    Lefty

    This was one solution from the socket programming forum, have you tried this??
    public Thread MyThread extends Thread{
         boolean active = true;
         public void run(){
              ss.setSoTimeout(90);
              while (active){
                   try{
                        serverSocket = ss.accept();
                   catch (SocketTimeoutException ste){
                   // do nothing
         // interrupt thread
         public void deactivate(){
              active = false;
              // you gotta sleep for a time longer than the
              // accept() timeout to make sure that timeout is finished.
              try{
                   sleep(91);
              }catch (InterruptedException ie){
              interrupt();

  • Slight problem with threads....

    Hello,
    Just started learning threads a few days ago.. my objective is to move an oval from left to right, then right to left, back and forth and so on.. however, it wont work, the source code i have below seems logical, but it doesnt fulfill my objective..
    // The "MovingCircleUsingThreads" class.
    import java.applet.*;
    import java.awt.*;
    public class MovingCircleUsingThreads extends Applet implements Runnable
        int x = 0;
        Thread t;
        public void init ()
            t = new Thread (this);
            t.start ();
        } // init method
        public void run ()
            try
                while (true)
                    repaint ();
                    Thread.sleep (20);
            catch (Exception e)
        public void paint (Graphics g)
            int speed = 10;
            Dimension d = getSize ();
            g.fillOval (x, d.height / 4, 50, 50);
            x = x + speed;
            if (x + 50 == d.width)
                speed = -10;
    } // MovingCircleUsingThreads classI think the paint method is wrong, but it all seems logical.. x starts off in the left side, moves to the right side by 10, when x + 50 == d.width, the oval is at the right edge, and speed = -10, so it should be moving to the left by 10, but instead, the oval disappears.. :( can anyone help?
    public void paint (Graphics g)
            int speed = 10;
            Dimension d = getSize ();
            g.fillOval (x, d.height / 4, 50, 50);
            x = x + speed;
            if (x + 50 == d.width)
                speed = -10;
        }

    public void paint (Graphics g)
    int speed = 10;
    Dimension d = getSize ();
    g.fillOval (x, d.height / 4, 50, 50);
    x = x + speed;
    if (x + 50 == d.width)
    speed = -10;
    }So you are setting speed to -10, and then you are
    leaving paint?
    Can not see this having any impact on processing...Im setting speed to -10 because I want the oval to go left.... But it wont, after the oval goes from left to right, it disappears..
    Try changing the following:
    if (x + 50 == d.width)
    speed = -10;to
    if (x + 50 >= d.width)
    speed = -10;
    Tried changing that before, oval disappears after it goes to right side :\

  • J2ME problem with threads

    Hi all,
    I would like to ask you for a help. I need to write a small program at my university. I started to write a midlet which function would be to countdown time for sports activities. I woul like to start a new thread - the one that counts down - and at the same time make the main thread sleep. After the "countdown" thread finishes, the main thread wakes up and waits for user input. The problem is that when the "countdown" thread finishes his work, I've got Uncaught exception java/lang/NullPointerException. error and the midlet halts.

    Groovemaker,
    Your Licznik class has a member m of type monitor, which has not been instantiated (in other words is null) hence, when calling m.put() you get NullPointerException. Please also mind, that using Thread.sleep(1000) is not an accurate way of measuring time.
    If I may, please use recommended for Java class naming conventions - some of your names use lower case, while other don't which is confusing to the reader.

  • Problem with Threads and a static variable

    I have a problem with the code below. I am yet to make sure that I understand the problem. Correct me if I am wrong please.
    Code functionality:
    A timer calls SetState every second. It sets the state and sets boolean variable "changed" to true. Then notifies a main process thread to check if the state changed to send a message.
    The problem as far I understand is:
    Assume the timer Thread calls SetState twice before the main process Thread runs. As a result, "changed" is set to true twice. However, since the main process is blocked twice during the two calls to SetState, when it runs it would have the two SetState timer threads blocked on its synchronized body. It will pass the first one, send the message and set "changed" to false since it was true. Now, it will pass the second thread, but here is the problem, "changed" is already set to false. As a result, it won't send the message even though it is supposed to.
    Would you please let me know if my understanding is correct? If so, what would you propose to resolve the problem? Should I call wait some other or should I notify in a different way?
    Thanks,
    B.D.
    Code:

    Thanks DrClap for your reply. Everything you said is right. It is not easy to make them alternate since SetState() could be called from different places where the state could be anything else but a status message. Like a GREETING message for example. It is a handshaking message but not a status message.
    Again as you said, There is a reason I can't call sendMessage() inside setState().
    The only way I was able to do it is by having a counter of the number of notifies that have been called. Every time notify() is called a counter is incremented. Now instead of just checking if "changed" flag is true, I also check if notify counter is greater than zero. If both true, I send the message. If "changed" flag is false, I check again if the notify counter is greater than zero, I send the message. This way it works, but it is kind of a patch than a good design fix. I am yet to find a good solution.
    Thanks,

  • Problem with threads running javaw

    Hi,
    Having a problem with multi thread programming using client server sockets. The program works find when starting the the application in a console using java muti.java , but when using javaw multi.java the program doesnt die and have to kill it in the task manager. The program doesnt display any of my gui error messages either when the server disconnect the client. all works find in a console. any advice on this as I havent been able to understand why this is happening? any comment would be appreciated.
    troy.

    troy,
    Try and post a minimum code sample of your app which
    does not work.
    When using javaw, make sure you redirect the standard
    error and standard output streams to file.
    Graeme.Hi Graeme,
    I dont understand what you mean by redirection to file? some of my code below.
    The code works fine under a console, code is supposed to exit when the client (the other server )disconnects. the problem is that but the clientworker side of the code still works. which under console it doesnt.

  • Problem with Threads and "plase wait..."-Window

    Hi everyone,
    I have a problem that I'm not able to solve in any way... I have a time-consuming task (a file decryption) which I execute in a separate thread; I've used the SwingWorker class, like suggested by sun-tutorial, and it works right. The problem is that I have to wait that the decryption have finished before continuing with program-execution. Therefore I would like to display a "please wait"-window while the task runs. I've tryed all the possible ways I know but the problem is always the same: the waitWindow is displayed empty, the bounds are painted but the contents no; it's only painted when the decrypt-task has finished. Please help me, I have no more resources....
    decrypt-file code:
    public class DecryptFile {
      private String cryptedFileNameAndPath;
      private ByteArrayInputStream resultStream = null;
      // need for progress
      private int lengthOfTask;
      private int current = -1;
      private String statMessage;
      public DecryptFile(String encZipFileNameAndPath) {
        cryptedFileNameAndPath = encZipFileNameAndPath;
        //Compute length of task...
        // 0 for indeterminate
        lengthOfTask = 0;
      public ByteArrayInputStream getDecryptedInputStream() {
        return this.resultStream;
       * Called from ProgressBarDemo to start the task.
      public void go() {
        current = -1;
        final SwingWorker worker = new SwingWorker() {
          public Object construct() {
            return new ActualTask();
        worker.start();
       * Called from ProgressBarDemo to find out how much work needs
       * to be done.
      public int getLengthOfTask() {
        return lengthOfTask;
       * Called from ProgressBarDemo to find out how much has been done.
      public int getCurrent() {
        return current;
      public void stop() {
        current = lengthOfTask;
       * Called from ProgressBarDemo to find out if the task has completed.
      public boolean done() {
        if (current >= lengthOfTask)
          return true;
        else
          return false;
      public String getMessage() {
        return statMessage;
       * The actual long running task.  This runs in a SwingWorker thread.
      class ActualTask {
        ActualTask () {
          current = -1;
          statMessage = "";
          resultStream = AIUtil.getInputStreamFromEncZip(cryptedFileNameAndPath); //here the decryption happens
          current = 0;
          statMessage = "";
      }The code that calls decryption and displays waitWindow
          final WaitSplash wS = new WaitSplash("Please wait...");
          final DecryptFile cryptedTemplate = new DecryptFile (this.templateFile);
          cryptedTemplate.go();
          while (! cryptedTemplate.done()) {
            try {
              wait();
            } catch (Exception e) { }
          this.templateInputStream = cryptedTemplate.getDecryptedInputStream();
          wS.close();Thanks, thanks, thanks in advance!
    Edoardo

    Maybe you can try setting the priority of the long-running thread to be lower? so that the UI will be more responsive...

         private int randomY(){
              return (int) (Math.random()*height);
    }//end class drawPanel
    That one's from a book. I used that code to start with my applet. Mine calls different merthod from the switch cases. Say I have:
    case 0: drawStart(g); break;
    public void drawStart(Graphics g){
      /* something here */
    drawMain(g);
    public void drawMain(graphics g){
    g.drawString("test", x, y);
    //here's where i'm trying to pause
    //i've tried placing Thread.sleep between these lines
    g.drawLine(x, y, a, b);
    //Thread.sleep here
    g.drawRect(x, y, 50, 70);
    }I also need to put delays between method calls but I need to synchronize them. Am I doing it all wrong? The application pauses or sleeps but afterwards, it still drew everything all at once. Thanks a lot!

    It is. Sorry about that. Just answer any if you want to. I'd appreciate your help. Sorry again if it caused you anything or whatever. .n_n.
