  • FCP 6.04 spinning its wheels on simple render and driving me round the bend

    Hello all:
So everything was going swimmingly... normal work-flow, nothing weird, not asking it to render Hi-Def NTSC anamorphic into SD SECAM 4:3 with a twist of lemon. Just plain old simple rendering of basic effects and filters, etc.
So, for some reason my Mac in league with FCP has decided that these are arduous tasks. FCP spins its wheels (you know, the psychedelic spinning circle that makes you immediately go, "oh f##k!"
After about 20 seconds of teeth clenching spinning it suddenly wakes up and goes, "oh, well that's not so hard..." and then completes the render in 2 seconds.
This is has not happened before... but been going on now for about 2 hours.
What is going on? Please help! I am on the usual crunch deadline... and this is driving me NUTS!

Better post more about your system...
    Post the exact versions of:
    OS
    FCP
    QuickTime
    system specs
Scratch disk configuration... is it local? etc.?
Also post the exact format you've captured and are working with.
Also let me know how you got to the versions of OS and FCP... did you perform a clean installation lately? i.e., rebuilt your startup disk from the ground up? One thing that can cause havoc is "upgrading" instead of "erase and install" of a new OS or version of studio...
The odd thing is that it spins but renders it OK anyway? weird indeed, never seen this, but sure want to find out why!

  • HT201272 I have 2 albums that are not on my computer even though itunes thinks it is.  It is not allowing me to re-download it and it is driving me round the bend!  The computer is authorised and other purchases are on my computer BUT 2 albums are missing

I have done what the forums ask which is to ensure that the computer is activated in iTunes.
Still no joy.  I am getting extremely frustrated as this has been going on for a long time an I just abandon every time, it does not endear me to the technology and I question the sanity of those who love Apple so much.
Please help, I feel held to ransom if I have to re-purchase what is already mine.
    Thanks

  • Safari 3 - Apple's stupidity driving me round the bend...

Safari 3 has stopped working properly on my PPC iMac at work; the app quits every time I close a window. A crashed external hard drive has left me without the original installer and I wanted to try to reinstall it.
Unbelievably, there is no longer a download link for the Mac version of Safari 3! I can download it for Windows...
The best they can come up with is to tell us that Safari 3 is available as part of the 10.4.11 update, but my iMac is already running on 10.4.11 so Software update won't download it.
I've ploughed through the entire list of standalone installer downloads and can't find Safari beta for Mac.
I really don't know what Apple are playing at...

Try extracting it from the 10.4.11 combo update for PowerPC:
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx10411comboupdateppc.html
    Using http://www.charlessoft.com/ 's Pacifist.
In the future always backup your data*:

  • Nokia Emails Driving me round the bend!!!!!!!!!!!!...

This all seemed to start when I bought that last piece of inferior quality crud they laughingly called a phone from Nokia direct.
The lady who served me was exceptionally good.  Couldn't have asked for a nicer buying experience!
Absolutely everything since has been garbage, appart from the rescue advice I got from this forum during my bricking incident.
First, the "express delivery" just, errrr wasn't!
The phone was junked within days.
The call handling service was abismal.
The "we'll just replace it if" sales pitch didn't happen.
The repair center I was sent to errr,,,,,,couldn't!
In fact the whole experience  almost had me switching to another brand.  Only my fancy for an N900 stopped me..... UNTIL NOW!
some time ago I received an emailed news letter from Nokia.
It was garbage but it did have a well designed unsubscribe link so I unsub'd.  I received an Unsub confirmation then the next day I received another news letter.
It was garbage but it did have a well designed unsubscribe link so I unsub'd. I received an Unsub confirmation then the next day I received another news letter.
It was garbage but it did have a well designed unsubscribe link so I unsub'd. I received an Unsub confirmation then the next day I received another news letter.
It was garbage but..... hang on, I'm starting to see a pattern emerging here.
It would appear that each news letter is numbered and when you Unsub you only do it from that particular numbered newsletter at which point Nokia immediately generates a new one with a different number.
Has anyone else had this bother?
The unsubscribe link obviously doesn't work and neither does contacting Nokia.
Can anyone tell me how else to stop Nokia sending me this rubbish other than reporting them to the relevant authorities for sending bulk SPAM?

  • Rounding the values in Query designer

In Query Designer, I am trying to store the rounded value of the below calculations to use in calculating a difference amount and %variance.
    Currently:
Report shows actual % of 1.1 and budgeted % of 1.1, because we are rounding the actual value of 1.0798 to 1.1 and the budgeted value of 1.1326 to 1.1.  The difference is calculated as budget u2013 actual or 1.1326 u2013 1.0798 = .0528 and the percent variance is 0.0528/1.1326 = 4.66%.
    Requested:
The end user wants the rounded values of 1.1 used in calculating the differences and percent variance, so 1.1 u2013 1.1 = 0 difference and percent variance is 0/1.1 = 0%.
What function can I use to recall the rounded values to use in difference and percent variance calculations?
Thanks for any and all help!

    HI Al -
    Your suggestion:
If you want to round a key figure "KF" to have zero decimals:
    ( FRAC ( 'KF' ) < 0.5 ) * FLOOR ( 'KF' ) + ( FRAC ( 'KF') >= 0.5 ) * CEIL ('KF')
An equivalent MS Excel formula you can use to test is:
    =IF(A3-TRUNC(A3)<0.5,FLOOR(A3,1),CEILING(A3,1))
If you want to round a key figure "KF" to have 2 decimals:
    ( FRAC ( 'KF'*100 ) < 0.5 ) * FLOOR ( 'KF' * 100 ) / 100 + ( FRAC ( 'KF'
    100 ) >= 0.5 ) * CEIL ('KF' * 100) / 100
The equivalent MS Excel formula to test it is:
    =IF(A5100-TRUNC(A5100)<0.5,FLOOR(A5100,1)/100,CEILING(A5100,1)/100
is exactly what I need, I am struggling to find the formula to round the key figure to 1 decimal in the query, any suggestions on how to modify the above formulas to return one decimal.  I was able to successfully test in Excel but cannot get the correct formula in Query designer.
    Thanks

  • TimeStampDiff function ROUNDing the result. How can we avoid this?

    Hi,
I am using the following timestamp function:
    TIMESTAMPDIFF(SQL_TSI_HOUR, "SF_CS_CS_Fact"."Crtddt_Dt", "SF_Emlmssg_Sum_CS"."Initl Resp Tm")

This is happening because OBIEE autimatically ROUNDS the difference of the timestamps whe using TIMESTAMPDIFF:

Please see the line in Bold in the query.
I want to get the results in the actual decimal point and not the whole no. Is there a way that I can enable the TIMESTAMPDIFF not to ROUND by default.
    Any answers will be helpful.
    Thanks,

When you specify in the interval in the first argument of TIMESTAMPDIFF you are implicitly telling OBIEE the level of precision that you want. For SQL_TSI_YEAR you are going to get integer values of whole years. if yo uneed to get more granular than that you need to use SQL_TSI_MONTH or WEEK.
Also note, than when performing mathematical operations like divide an multiply, all elements of the calculation need to be a data type that can represent decimal values, or the result of the entire calc will always get converted to an integer.

  • Rounding the aggregate function in a pivot table

How do I round the avg(GRADE) when I tried just wrapping it around the avg function I get an error message saying expect aggregate function inside pivot operation

Hi, and welcome to the forum.
It is hard to see how your piece of pseudo SQL is related to your subject title.
There should not be any problem in wrapping ROUND around AVG:
SQL> select deptno, round(avg(sal)) from emp
    where deptno in (10,20)
    group by deptno
        DEPTNO ROUND(AVG(SAL))
            20            2175
            10            2917
2 rows selected.Edit: Sorry, did not recognize you query bit. You probably are asking about this:
    SELECT * FROM
       (SELECT deptno, sal FROM emp)
        PIVOT
       (ROUND(AVG(sal)) FOR deptno IN (10 AS Accounting, 30 AS Sales));
    Error at line 4
ORA-56902: expect aggregate function inside pivot operationSuppose you have to (There might be other ways)
    SQL> SELECT Round(accounting), round(sales) FROM
       (SELECT deptno, sal FROM emp)
        PIVOT
       (AVG(sal) FOR deptno IN (10 AS Accounting, 30 AS Sales));
    ROUND(ACCOUNTING) ROUND(SALES)

  • Conforming Audio is driving me up the wall!

    Hi all,
Windows Vista Home Premium, i7, 12GB ram, Production Premium CS5.
I am making a DVD in Encore CS5 with 4 AVI files and a static menu.
When I add the Avi video files En conforms the audio...
I was getting frustrated because it seemed the audio was getting lost somewhere so after 'clearing' and re-importing files a few times I came to realise that before conforming the Audio was playing fine but once the Audio was 'conformed' the sound dissapeared? I used AME to create a Wav file from the Avi video files and added them to the EN timelines to get round that problem.
The problem I am having is that EN is conforming the audio every time I go to another window, like Explorer, or even if I preview within EN, I close the preview window (or just come back from explorer) and EN conforms all the files, all over again! It is driving me up the wall!!!
Then I started 'Transcoding Now' my assets and after every Video is finished I get
so I click OK and EN shuts down ...
When I restart it, opening the same project, it gets partway through opening the project then windows leaps in and declares EN to have a problem and the only option is to close the program. I then start it up again and it starts correctly, I can then 'Locate Transcoded File' for the video file I just transcoded.
Seems like ENcore CS5 is no more stable than CS4 and if anything is less stable.
Any ideas? I can still work through all this 'Stuff' and produce DVD's but the Conforming, CONTINUALLY is just so annoying!
    Peter

    Interesting ideas MobyTrix.
Slight problem in that my Encore project did not spring from a Premiere project, Premiere was not involved at any point. There was something weird going on there because EN had written it's Cache files but everytime I switched windows it just had to write a bunch more, it was irritating to say the least.
I was amazed after having this issue and discovering the folder of conforming files. It had, over the months built up to nearly 600GB of data! After the lengthy process of cleaning the database it reduced to 350GB or so, then I reduced it to 0GB by deleteing it all
As far as I have worked out there are 4 aplications using these files; Premiere, Encore, Soundbooth and After Effects.
I recently upgraded my DivX codecs at the insistant pestering of the DivX software and there after none of my Adobe software could read any of the AVI packaged DivX files, I found some older codecs out there and installed them and everything went back to normal (what ever that may be).
Encore still crashes on startup with certain projects, I uninstalled it and re-installed and nothing changed, it is just fragile, it is consistent at least and robust enough to go through all the little boughts of behaviour and not get 'broken'.
Perhaps it is all Vistas fault LOL. I think it is just the way things are frankly, with so many different 'platforms' and 'standards' it's amazing anything interacts outside of its own family of hardware/software... The longest project I have worked with was 1 hour and 30 minutes (my own video files edited in PPro for Blu-Ray and DVD) and it all went pretty smoothly, I think upgrading from 6 to 12GB of ram made a big difference.
    Cheers,
    Peter

  • Solution to the bending iphone 6plus.

Regarding the bending of the iPhone 6plus , I qued on 19the September to buy the phone but they were out of stock unfortunately. The  "weak point " identified by the people doing the so called "bend tests" could be solved by a redesign of the volume buttons , the could be made either more thinner with regard to the overall thickness of the phone or perhaps made rounded and smaller in size like in iPhone 5s, this would make sure there is enough structural room around that area and therefore enough strength to withstand these challenges.

Sorry, but as we are just other Apple product users, we have no ability to re-design the iPhone to your revised specifications.

  • Infoset query of vendor payments at the cost distribution level

We would like an infoset query of vendor payments at the cost distribution level of the document.  The issue seems to be joining vendor to the document cost distribution lines.
1.) BSAK + BSIK can be combined with an infoset data structure but only contain the vendor line of a document;  the cost distribution lines are not in the tables.
2.) BSIS + BSAS can be combined with an infoset data structure but lack vendor data and joins (to a vendor source) are not an option with data structures.  Vendor data added with an additional field is too slow to be a primary selection field.
3.) Logical data base KDF in an infoset returns only the vendor line of a document, not the cost distribution lines.
4.) Logical data base BRM in an infoset can have vendor from BSAK/BSIK attached by an additional field but performance is too slow to be useful.  Joins are not an option in a logical data base infoset.
5.) Complete data is lacking when table joins between document cost distribution tables and vendor data tables are possible, (SPL actual line item table & BSIP or FMIFIIT & FMIFIHD).  BSIP lacks AB documents (reversals).  FM tables lack general ledger only documents.
6.) BSAK and BSIK together have complete vendor data but joins of both to a basis table do not work well.  Left outer joins are too slow, inner joins won’t work since the tables have mutually exclusive data.
It would be ideal to have vendor in BKPF, like FMIFIHD has, but it isn't a field.
Does anyone know of any other options?  I have seen the helpful thread on How to Read BSEG Efficiently

5.) Complete data is lacking when table joins between document cost distribution tables and vendor data tables are possible, (SPL actual line item table & BSIP or FMIFIHD & FMIFIIT).  BSIP lacks AB documents (reversals).  FM tables lack general ledger only documents.
6.) BSAK and BSIK together have complete vendor data but joins of both to a basis table are not an option.  Left outer joins are too slow, inner joins won’t work since the tables have mutually exclusive data.
Does anyone know of any other options?

    Hi,
That depends on whether spriden_pidm is unique, and on what you want for results.
Whenever you have a problem, post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevamnt columns only) for all tables, and the results you want from that data.
If you can illustrate your problem using commonly available tables (such as those in the scott or hr schemas) then you don't have to post any sample data; just post the results you want.
Either way, explain how you get those results from that data.
Always say which version of Oracle you're using.
It looks like you're doing something similiar to the following.
Using the emp and dept tables in the scott schema, produce one row of output per department showing the highest salary in each job, for a given set of jobs:
    DEPTNO DNAME          LOC           JOB_1   SAL_1 JOB_2   SAL_2 JOB_3   SAL_3
        20 RESEARCH       DALLAS        ANALYST  3000 MANAGER  2975 CLERK    1100
10 ACCOUNTING     NEW YORK      MANAGER  2450 CLERK    1300
30 SALES          CHICAGO       MANAGER  2850 CLERK     950On each row, the jobs are listed in order by the highest salary.
This seems to be analagous to what you're doing. The roles played by sortest_pidm, sortest_tesc_code and sortest_test_score in your sortest table are played by deptno, job and sal in the emp table. The roles played by spriden_pidm, id and name in your spriden table are played by deptno, dname and loc in the dept table.
It sounds like you already have something like the query below, that produces the correct output, except that it does not include the dname and loc columns from the dept table.
    SELECT    deptno
,       MAX (DECODE (rn, 1, job))     AS job_1
    ,       MAX (DECODE (rn, 1, max_sal))     AS sal_1
,       MAX (DECODE (rn, 2, job))     AS job_2
    ,       MAX (DECODE (rn, 2, max_sal))     AS sal_2
,       MAX (DECODE (rn, 3, job))     AS job_3
    ,       MAX (DECODE (rn, 3, max_sal))     AS sal_3
    FROM       (
               SELECT    deptno
               ,          job
               ,          max_sal
               ,          ROW_NUMBER () OVER ( PARTITION BY  deptno
                                              ORDER BY          max_sal     DESC
                                )         AS rn
               FROM     (
                             SELECT    e.deptno
                       ,           e.job
                       ,           MAX (e.sal)     AS max_sal
                       FROM      scott.emp        e
                       ,           scott.dept   d
                       WHERE     e.deptno        = d.deptno
AND           e.job        IN ('ANALYST', 'CLERK', 'MANAGER')
                       GROUP BY  e.deptno
                       ,           e.job
    GROUP BY  deptno
;Since dept.deptno is unique, there will only be one dname and one loc for each deptno, so we can change the query by replacing "deptno" with "deptno, dname, loc" throughout the query (except in the join condition, of course):
SELECT    deptno, dname, loc                    -- Changed
,       MAX (DECODE (rn, 1, job))     AS job_1
    ,       MAX (DECODE (rn, 1, max_sal))     AS sal_1
,       MAX (DECODE (rn, 2, job))     AS job_2
    ,       MAX (DECODE (rn, 2, max_sal))     AS sal_2
,       MAX (DECODE (rn, 3, job))     AS job_3
    ,       MAX (DECODE (rn, 3, max_sal))     AS sal_3
    FROM       (
SELECT    deptno, dname, loc          -- Changed
               ,          job
               ,          max_sal
               ,          ROW_NUMBER () OVER ( PARTITION BY  deptno      -- , dname, loc     -- Changed
                                              ORDER BY          max_sal      DESC
                                )         AS rn
               FROM     (
                             SELECT    e.deptno, d.dname, d.loc                    -- Changed
                       ,           e.job
                       ,           MAX (e.sal)     AS max_sal
                       FROM      scott.emp        e
                       ,           scott.dept   d
                       WHERE     e.deptno        = d.deptno
AND           e.job        IN ('ANALYST', 'CLERK', 'MANAGER')
                       GROUP BY  e.deptno, d.dname, d.loc                    -- Changed
                       ,           e.job
GROUP BY  deptno, dname, loc                    -- Changed
;Actually, you can keep using just deptno in the analytic PARTITION BY clause. It might be a little more efficient to just use deptno, like I did above, but it won't change the results if you use all 3, if there is only 1 danme and 1 loc per deptno.
By the way, you don't need so many sub-queries. You're using the inner sub-query to compute the MAX, and the outer sub-query to compute rn. Analytic functions are computed after aggregate fucntions, so you can do both in the same sub-query like this:
    SELECT    deptno, dname, loc
,       MAX (DECODE (rn, 1, job))     AS job_1
    ,       MAX (DECODE (rn, 1, max_sal))     AS sal_1
,       MAX (DECODE (rn, 2, job))     AS job_2
    ,       MAX (DECODE (rn, 2, max_sal))     AS sal_2
,       MAX (DECODE (rn, 3, job))     AS job_3
    ,       MAX (DECODE (rn, 3, max_sal))     AS sal_3
    FROM       (
                   SELECT    e.deptno, d.dname, d.loc
              ,       e.job
              ,       MAX (e.sal)     AS max_sal
              ,       ROW_NUMBER () OVER ( PARTITION BY  e.deptno
                                           ORDER BY       MAX (sal)     DESC
                                          )       AS rn
              FROM      scott.emp    e
              ,       scott.dept   d
              WHERE     e.deptno        = d.deptno
AND       e.job                IN ('ANALYST', 'CLERK', 'MANAGER')
                  GROUP BY  e.deptno, d.dname, d.loc
              ,       e.job
    GROUP BY  deptno, dname, loc
;This will work in Oracle 8.1 and up. In Oracle 11, however, it's better to use the SELECT ... PIVOT feature.
