Jsessionid overwriting cookie first time

Hi,
I am using a package for struts, struts-menu, that uses cookies set in a javascript to keep track of which menu item that will be shown as selected. ( The menu alternative I am using is tabbed menues. )
The application I am testing this on is a Struts application.
Background:
When a user clicks a tab a cookie is set, document.cookie = "......". The request is posted to the server and when the browser is returned control the javascript looks up the cookie and should select the right tab.
Now the problem:
The 1st time the browser receives the control from the server the menuSelected-cookie is null?!!! Although I have queried the cookie value before submitting the 1st time. The effect is that no tab is selected. At this point, document.cookie is only set to jsessionid="...".
However, if I then click another tab, and after click an infinite number of times it works!!! It's only the first time it fails.
Does anyone have a clue?

Here is what happens sequentially:
1. The start menu is loaded, no tab is selected which is ok since I want it that way.
2. Now, the user clicks a tab ( no matter which tab ) and this is supposed to set the cookie. The server is called upon this click and then returns to the browser.
3. Control is returned to the browser and here's the error: No tab is selected.
I have traced what happened in the javascript file by adding alert-statements and this is what I found out. At step 2 above when the user clicks a tab, document.cookie is actually set to the value that belongs to the tab that was clicked. Fine, when server returns control to the browser as in step 3 I prompt document.cookie using alert in the part of the javascript code that tries to find out which tab to be selected. Now, to my big disappointment it's null.
What puzzles me is that I in cronological order can prompt document.cookie first as set to the value I desire and then after that its null.
I have a slimmed war-file which presents the problem that is deployable in any j2ee server. If I had a possibility I could email the war-file to you. Advise me at [email protected] if you like.

Why aren't Flash cookies cleared the first time I exit Firefox?

I am running XP, Firefox 16.0.1 and Flash Player 11.4.402.287 and have Firefox configured to "Clear history when Firefox closes", with "Cookies" (amongst other options) checked in the "Settings for Clearing History". I also have Flash Player configured to "Block all sites from storing information on this computer."
As I understand things, starting with Firefox 4 and Flash Player 10.3, having Firefox configured this way should cause Flash cookies to be deleted upon exiting Firefox. I also understand that even though I have Flash configured as I do, a list of sites that attempt to plant a Flash cookie will still be recorded in the main settings.sol cookie.
I have noticed, though, that this list of empty Flash cookies is not deleted the first time I exit Firefox; rather, the list is deleted after launching and then exiting Firefox again.
Here's a step-by-step example:
1) Control Panel -> Flash Player -> Storage tab -> Local Storage Settings by Site... button -> confirm that the list is empty
2) Exit the Flash Player Settings Manage
3) Launch Firefox -> go to www.hulu.com and click on a video to start it playing
4) Relaunch Control Panel -> Flash Player -> Storage tab -> Local Storage Settings by Site... button -> confirm that the list shows www.hulu.com, 0 bytes, Block
5) Exit the Flash Player Settings Manager
6) Exit Firefox
7) Relaunch Control Panel -> Flash Player -> Storage tab -> Local Storage Settings by Site... button -> NOTE THAT THE LIST STILL SHOWS www.hulu.com, 0 bytes, Block
8) Exit the Flash Player Settings Manager
9) Relaunch Firefox
10) Relaunch Control Panel -> Flash Player -> Storage tab -> Local Storage Settings by Site... button -> NOTE THAT THE LIST STILL SHOWS www.hulu.com, 0 bytes, Block

So again my question is - why isn't this list emptied the first time around?

Ok, so I created a new profile and followed the steps I spelled out in my first post several times - each time the Hulu flash cookie was cleared the first time I closed Firefox.
So what would you recommend I do next to get to the bottom of the behavior in my current profile? Should I go about disabling my extensions and plugins one by one and repeating the test each time?

Permissions issue only the FIRST time I try to overwrite a file.

I've a standard user account and I've found overwriting protected files is bugged in Leopard.
As an example: every time I'm upgrading Camino web browser with the latest nightly build (by dragging the new version from it's disk image, and into the Applications folder) I get a permissions issue the first time only. As usual I am warned I will need to authenticate, then I am warned I will be replacing a file, then the first time only I get told I do not have sufficient privileges on one or more items to continue. The second time I try I am allowed to progress to the authentication window where I enter my admin username and password and the operation completes.
The same thing happens with other files I'm trying to overwrite that are located in protected folders (I just use Camino as an example because it is a daily occurrence). But it ONLY happens the first time.
This has persisted through three erases of my brand new iMac's HD and clean installations of Leopard. I have of course run Disk Utility multiple times to repair the HD (no errors found) and repair permissions (just the usual ACL errors every Leopard user faces).

What's the error message did you get? It would be better to provide a screenshot for your problem.
Generally speaking, this problem can be caused by third party adds-on of IE. You can try to start IE with no adds-on mode for test.
Open run, type iexplore -extoff, pess
Enter.
If it works properly, please chck which plugin enabled in your browser, try to disable them for test.
In addition, this can also be caused by IE settings, try to reset IE for test.

Opensso first time (Internal Authentication error)refresh the page works

Hi,
My setup is : I have two opensso running in IBM cluster. I have a load balancer for IBM Web servers in front of the IBM Web cluster. So request go to LB->IBM Web Server->IBM Application Server.
Configuration is:
When the browser first time attempts to access the page it throwing "Internal Authentication Error" and refresh the page it works fine. Anybody what is this behavior?

Thanks for the reply. Load balancer is configured with sticky session. In my investigation, IBM web server plugin which load balances between two opensso also does not have sticky effenity session configuration. I have to check if there is something like that is available for in it.
But is that the issue? how can u tell that?

How to use different xsl's for user first time logon in OAM

Hi,
We have a requirement to use different stylesheets (xsls) for employees and customers in OAM. How we can configure different XSLs for user first time logon to OAM (i.e for change password and configuring challenge and responses).
Any pointers on this is appreciated.

XSLs displayed are controlled by the StyleCookie. So if you can set the value of this cookie to be different front customers and employees, they will see different styles.
You can do this in various locations -> from the web server, from the url, custom plugins, etc....

TS1398 Just got the mini, specifically to get jobs on a certain website. Jobs change all the time. When I go to website, it has not updated from the first time I logged in on the mini. It works on my laptop just fine. HELP!

My sons just bought me an ipad mini especially so that I could check a certain website on which I sign up for jobs throughout the day. The website is updated constantly throughout the day with new jobs and the status of the jobs I already have accepted and worked on. (It shows the percentage of the job that has been done.) It worked fine only the first time I logged on with the mini. Since then (yesterday,) when I check the website, it lets me log in, but I only see the same exact information that was there the first time I went to the website using the mini. It seems to be 'frozen' on that particular first look. It doesn't update at all.
I know it is not updating because I have also been checking with my notebook computer and with the notebook, the website is up to date.
Maybe its Safari?
I had the same problem when I used a friend's iPad.
I wonder if there is a setting or something that I could change to allow the website to update to the time I check it.
If not, then the ipad mini is a terrible disappointment and I would like to return it.

This issue can be caused by corrupted cookies or cookies that are blocked.
*check the permissions on the about:permissions page and in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"
Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

AutoPlay Only Works the First Time

Our customer is getting a little annoyed by something happening with their CP4 outputs, and I'm not sure if it's "normal" or something's wrong.
The .swf/html plays fine the first time through. However, if a user re-accesses and launches the file again, it plays the first slide, and then jumps to the end. We've checked our navigation and it seems to be fine (go to next slide). We removed the status flags, thinking there was some sort of cookie being set that identified this module as already been played by the user. The problem happens whether it's being served up from a web server or played on a local machine.
I'm taking a big hit on this. And I don't know where else to look.
I have to fix this..any suggestions?

Hi there
My guess is that you need to click Project > Table of Contents. Then click Settings... and ensure the Self Paced Learning option is cleared.
If you find the option is already cleared, you might then investigate the Flash Player version.

Opening Project First Time from Version Control. RoboSource Node

Four writers have upgraded successfully. My fifth is having issues...
She has Serena Dimensions SCC installed as well (another source control product - used by Applications, not the authors or Infra.
Problem: When she is establishing the root path (and the Browse RoboSource Node window opens, but it does not populate, even after 20 minutes. Reboot did not work, neither did manually removing Serena Dimensions SCC. I have verified that she has a connection to the database (via RSC Explorer) and can see the project (as well as the RH7 version of the project). We have

1.1    Using a New Project for the First Time
IMPORTANT NOTE:
The author must have local administrator rights on the machine. If the user has a privileged account, they must set up full local control of their work folder (specified in 1.1.2.8).
1.1.1    Install RoboHelp and RoboSource Control
1.    Download appropriate software packages, including all patches, from Adobe.
2.    Launch RoboHelp Installer. Select the following options for installation:
o   RoboHelp for HTML
o   RoboSource Control (Client)
o   CS4 Script Extender
INSTALLATION NOTES
Installation of each component is separate and may take up to 30 minutes. You do not have to install RoboHelp for Word.
Only select the Client Install for RoboSource Control.
3.    Install all patches in the order specified by the vendor. Check with the technical communicator on which version is currently in use for patching.
1.1.2    Open the Project
1.    Launch RoboSource Control.
2.    Establish a database connection per section 3.3.1.
3.    Close RoboSource Control.
4.    Launch RoboHelp 8 for HTML.
5.    Click Open under Recent Projects under the main frame (do not use title bars).
6.    Click the Open Project from version control button (shown below).
7.    Make sure that RoboSource Control 3.1 is highlighted as the Version Control Provider and the checkbox for “Make this my default selection” is checked. Click OK.
8.    Configure the Source Control system as follows:
Connection: PROD
Root Path: Click the … button and navigate to the (project name) root in the database and click OK. This may take several minutes.
Connection Mode: Online
Get to Local Path: Click the … button and navigate to your Data folder. Select Make New Folder under Data and give the folder a unique name to help you identify the files as for the Support KB in RoboHelp.
9.    Click OK when you have configured source control. A copy of the database is now being downloaded to the path you specified. This may take up to 20 minutes.
You can verify that installation is proceeding either by watching your local path fill with files or keeping an eye on the CPU usage of the RSO3MiddleTierService and RoboHelpHTML files under Task Manager.
10. Once transfer is complete, highlight Tier1KB.xpj and click Open. It may take several minutes to open the project the first time. It is typical for the snippet file to check out the first time you open the project and the first time each day that you save all project files.
11. Once the project is open, set Version Control properties:
a.         Select Tools > Options.
b.         On the Version Control tab, select all options. This will prompt the user on each version control action they take.
12. Test a check out/check in to validate correct installation and source control operation.

I missed the "save password?" prompt the first time I logged in to a site. How do I get it to ask again, or to save the password for that site now??

The first time I logged in to a site which has now become a frequently used one, I skipped past the prompt where it asks if you want it to save the password so as not to have to type it in each time. I would like to use that option but don't know how to get it to prompt me again so that I can answer "yes" this time.

New workflow first time with InDesign and FH

I thought I would share my experience using FreeHand in an
InDesign CS2 workflow for the first time,
first a little history: I have almost exclusively used trusty
old FreeHand for 95% of my layout work for the last 10 years up
till now, only tackling the crappy old dinosaur that is Quark when
the job size just got too big for Freehand,
one of my regular annual jobs is to produce a 52 page full
colour catalogue for a local company, too big for FH and a real
pain in Quark, so this year I took the plunge and bought the Adobe
CS2 Design Suite with the intention of only using InDesign CS2 for
long format jobs like this catalogue and sticking with FH for my
regular work.
Sorry folks but I have to tell you, I won't be using Freehand
for any of my layout work from now on, InDesign CS2 is no less than
Awesome!! I finished the whole job in record time, and due to the
great tools, honestly a better design.
just being able to use native photoshop psd files with
transparency directly in Layout is fantastic, not to mention
selectable hide and show layers from within the psd, I could go on
and on about the features that blew me away but many of you already
know about them, (nested style sheets anyone!?)
needless to say from now on I will only be using FreeHand to
produce my vector logo's etc, however if this is the situation then
there's a good case for learning Illustrator as .ai files can also
be used natively in InDesign.
I still think FreeHand is a great all rounder, but I have to
say I now feel more confident that I could live without it if
that's the way the cookie crumbles!

Same experience for me and my coworkers. We use ID everyday
and made a
smooth transition from Quark. Illustrator, on the other hand,
is just
baffling and I wonder if that's a legacy of it being a much
older
program. Photoshop, in some ways, has some difficult concepts
to learn
but Adobe seems to have worked hard to make its tools easy to
use

I lost my contacts, texts etc after syncing my phone to itunes for first time since 2012, now all I have is info. starting from 2012. Is there any way to recover the contacts, texts etc that I have lost for the last 2 years? So ticked off at apple!

I am hoping that someone can help me understand how it can be so easy to lose the last 2 years data on an iphone by synching to itunes for the first time since 2012? If this happens from itunes automatically overwriting your phones system why would'nt there be warnings and red sirens going off on your phone? Can somone please let me know if this lost data is recoverable and maybe even let me know how to recover it?

Glad to help! The reply you got was very generic and didn't completely address your questions.
Basically, all it said was to restore your backup. What I addressed was your query about how and why this happened. iTunes did give you prompts and warnings. And if you'd used iTunes back in 2012, then you'd have lost much less data when you made the incorrect selection.
Do you have an iCloud backup? Were you backing up your device at all?
I just found it amusing that you were 'ticked off at Apple' when Apple didn't cause this problem. You did.

Xcode 4 new all in one app, first time startup

Hello dears,
since v4.3 (I think), Xcode comes in an "all in one app", without installer package.
While starting Xcode.app for the first time, a window appears commenting to install additional resources.
Does anyone know the install path of these resources ?

I dont mean the resources from the Xcode menu.
I mean the installs that are necessary and performing at the (only) first start of Xcode.
Reason, I like to check, where they are, and how much, in case of using a SSD and maybe trying a simlink.
Ok, I could test it, overwriting Xcode with a new file from the image.
If the install procedure comes up again, I seems to be located in the app itself.

Avoid firefox opening 2 tabs on first time

For internal uses at my work place, we use a customized Firefox,
All is ok out the fact that the first time we opening customized Firefox on a PC,
when no profile folder is existing, firefox open 2 tabs.
And after this first time all is ok, i think this is the "welcome tab".
What can i do to avoid this tab opening.
This is our user.js file to overwrite the prefs.js.
If i remove the
