[JSF 2.0] and HTML 5? How things are planned?

Hello,
How far is JSF 2.0 from handling HTML 5?
Of course, it surely can't handle it today, but maybe next year some of us will find the need of starting their new web site with this new HTML version.
How is it planned? Will HTML 5 be a standard feature of JSF 2 (or JSF 3?) or will it require the download of a special project: an additional component having its own lifecycle?
How things are roughly planned?
Regards,
Grunt.

I predict it will be implemented as a new component library by someone, but on the server side it will probably retain the same Faces servlet (i.e. same lifecycle) making extensive use of the AJAX capabilities. What will be interesting to see is if any new server side interfaces intended to be implemented by UIComponents will show up and what they would look like.
Of course one thing very nice to have is automatic detection and backwards compatibility with non HTML-5 browsers. I predict also that will be there but not work very well.

    Do you have hindi fonts for InDesign CS4 and if so how much are they?

    Adobe does offer a few Unicode fonts that support Hindi  I'd expect that you'd be asking for Devanagari fonts, though. Have you ever done any Hindi typesetting? I mean, when we typeset English we don't do it in "English fonts" but in "Latin-script fonts."
    There are two main classes of Devanagari fonts - the more common, older fonts where someone took a Latin-script font, erased the characters, and replaced them with Devanagari glyphs, versus contemporary Unicode fonts. The first class are wonky, hard to use, and quite common. If you're in-country you will find lots of ways to buy those kinds of fonts. You also can use them in InDesign without needing any scripts or plugins to turn on the World-Ready Composer. I find Unicode fonts to be much easier to use, to automatically compose according to proper rules regarding behavior of glyphs - but to use them in CS4, you'd need something like World Tools or IndicPlus. I'm a World Tools user myself but if you're going to be doing only Hindi work in CS4, I'd suggest that you look at IndicPlus first.
    In short - it's deeper than it looks. If you want to tell us more about what you're trying to do, we might be able to give you better advice.

    in Finder, my iMovie folders are all visible and accessible.  When I click on a clip from iMovie Events folder, Quicktime opens and plays the clip.  ALL my video is not missing - it just isn't showing up in the Event Library!
    This happened all of a sudden, while I was working on iMovie project (on both computers).

  • JSF with TILES and HTML-Code

    Hello!
    I have a pure JSP-project using tiles. Now I want to migrate to JSF and find some problems.
    When I use my existing layout and include the different JSPs I have no problem as long I have a single f:view in every jsp file is used. When I try to define f:view and a h:form including different files and in each file JSF componets where used I got a very bad result. Additiotal I have to say, that I try to keep my formatting with HTML tags existing.
    The effect is, that all JSF componets were rendered at the beginning of the jsp file and than be included into the layout.
    Have I use a special order of f:view, f:subview, h:form, ....
    Alternative I could make a complete reprogramming of the JSP's, not my favourit, but than I need the possibility to set single formats for each <td> in a table and this seems not to be possible with h:panelGrid.
    Havy anyone an idea?
    Thanks for your help!

  • SSL and html db - how to see wallet

    I installed html db 2.0 from the companion cd to run with my 9.2.0.6 database. I used the Wallet manager to get my server certificate. I am trying to figure out what next to get the http to see the wallet. I do not have a ssl.conf file under my OH/Apache/Apache directory. My httpd.conf does not have any reference to using a wallet. It has line items like
    SSLCertificateFile
    SSLCertificateKeyFile.
    How do I use my wallet for this data. The server certicate is installed and ready. The Root Trust Chain is installed. I just don't know what to modify in my httpd.conf so that it will use an Oracle wallet.

    Well I guess if you wish to retain that architecture, i.e. HTMLDB on one machine and your data on another, you will have to establish database links to access the data. Oracle documentation will describe how to achieve that.

  • Hi all, I'm new here and not sure how things work.

    I just wanted to know how do I install adope 10.1 on my iPad 4 for the use of ufilling. Your assistance will be appreciated. Thanks.

    fanamotaung,
    As of today (August 10, 2014), the latest version of Adobe Reader is 11.3.2, which runs only on iOS 7.  10.1.0 is the very first version of Adobe Reader for iOS released back in October 2011.  It is rather obsolete and does not provide the support for form filling.
    If the operating system of your iPad 4 is iOS 5 or 6, you will get a dialog like this when you try to install Adobe Reader from the App Store.
    You can tap the Download button to install an older version of Adobe Reader for iOS.
    However, we'd highly recommend updating your operating system to the latest iOS 7.1.2 and installing the latest version of Adobe Reader (unless you have a reason why you do not want to update iOS).
    Once you install Adobe Reader for iOS, you can launch it and tap Help in the Reader home screen to see the in-app Handbook (Help documentation),  It has a lot of useful information to get you started on Adobe Reader for iOS.
    Please let us know if you have additional questions.

  • SCCM 2012 and .PCK files - how exactly are they used?

    Ok, no one, not even Microsoft engineers can seem to provide a clear and definitive answer on this topic, everyone's understanding of the .PCK file with relation to SCCM 2012 is clear as mud.
    I understand what .PCK files are...in the SCCM 2007 world, and how they work, all that jazz, what I don't understand is how/when/why they would be used by SCCM 2012...it seems that sccm 2012 would only need these .pck files during a reassignment of a shared
    DP in a migration scenario...even that surmise is sketchy since I've watched very closely the DP content conversion process and at
    no time did the server access the .PCK files to populate the single instance store.
    I am going to do some more testing on my own, my ultimate goal is to permanent delete the contents (not the folder itself) of the SMSPKG folder, essentially all the .PCK and .DL$ files to save space on my server.
    If any soul out there knows..not guesses...the purpose of the .PCK file in 2012, let me know please, don't just copy/paste other people's posts as an answer, explain in clear terms each step of the process that 2012 would utilize a .PCK, or if the answer
    really is that 2012 does not use .PCK files at all, let me know.
    I have a single primary site with 16 secondary sites in my SCCM 2007 environment, I'm migrating to a single primary with 16 distribution points...so even if .PCK's are used to populate secondary sites, I should not need them since I won't have any secondary
    sites once all of my DP's are migrated...yeah?
    Thanks!
    Terry

    Thanks for the reply Torsten, that would make sense if my primary site had any .pck files at all (my sccm 2012 site that is) only my DP's have .pck files. I have no child sites in my 2012 hierarchy unless DP's are child sites (I thought secondary sites are
    child..) When my DP's require a package they get them from my primary site, not other DP's. I have no 'Pull' DP's setup.
    If SCCM 2012 uses a 'single instance store', which contains 3 folders itself that seem to contain compressed versions of the package files, then there should be no need for another folder that also contains compressed files...just a thought.

  • I am on dial up. Can I get the progress bar for loading a page back it helps me know how things are going.

    On previous versions of Firefox there was a progress bar when you were loading a page. It was in the lower right corner. How can I get it back? It would be very helpful if there was an add on for it for those of us still on dial up.

    Be aware that the loading indication that you see doesn't represent a real indication of what is happening. It just starts increasing till about 50% of the bar is filled and if it takes too long then the steps get smaller (half what is left as available space in the end or stop at all).
    There is also the Net tab on the Web Console that can show how long it takes to load content.

  • Using screenshots of websites to see how things are layed out

    I want to look at other website graphics to learn about their size, placement, etc. in FW. I have been taking screen shots of different parts of interfaces and importing them into FW to reverse engineer them.
    1. Just curious, if anyone has any other ways of doing this besides using screenshots?
    2. How can I take a screenshot of something and measure the distance between shapes and elements? The rulers do not tell me exactl how far two shapes are, unless I am using the wrong. Is there something like the Ruler tool in PS?
    Thanks.

    1) From the browser, View > Source or View > Page source. Check out the code...that's what you need to know.
    2) Hmm... You can pull out guidelines from the rulers. Click in the ruler then drag to where you want it. If you double-click a guideline, you will get its position (or can enter a different value). If you have the positions of two guidelines, you can subtract to get dimensions.
    2b) Draw a rectangle and check its dimensions in the Info panel.

  • How Much Are For SSD cards or drives? (not sure what it's really called?)

    I have a question, for my first time being a mac user and all. How much are the ssd cards/drives? I have a 4GB and 2.4 ghz macbook pro of 2010 early, it's a 13". I'm thinking about how I am going to be majoring in animation design in college and I'm worried that my laptop might LAG or slow down. (Will it? :S) I know I probably sound stupid right now and probably being laughed about with this question but it's my first mac laptop that I will taking to college class with me. Anyone can answer my question that would be great.
    Two people have suggested that I return this 13" for a 15" but I just dont' have the budget for the 15" and plus the 13" is great and portable.
    What do you guys think?

    How much are the ssd cards/drives?
    Depends on the maker, the size and how fast their throughput is. Do a google search and compare prices
    t's my first mac laptop that I will taking to college class with me.
    SSDs are not exclusive to Macs. You would be asking the same questions if you were considering a windows based laptop with an SSD.
    Two people have suggested that I return this 13" for a 15"
    For animation, their suggestion is correct.

  • Very big problem with JSF about FORM and "id=" for HTML form's elements and

    I have discovered a very big problem with JSF about FORM and "id=" for HTML form's elements and java instruction "request.getParameterNames()".
    Suppose you have something like this, to render some datas form a Java Beans :
    <h:dataTable value="#{TablesDb2Bean.myDataDb2ListSelection}" var="current" border="2" width="50%" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="2" style="text-align: center">
    <h:column>
    <f:facet name="header">
    <h:outputText value="Name"/>
    </f:facet>
    <h:outputText id="nameTableDb2" value="#{current.db2_name_table}"/>
    </h:column>
    </h:dataTable>
    Everything works fine...
    Suppose you want to get the name/value pairs for id="nameTableDb2" and #{current.db2_name_table} to process them in a servlet. Here is the HTML generated :
    <td><span <span class="attribute-name">id=<span class="attribute-value">"j_id_jsp_1715189495_22:0:nameTableDb2">my-table-db2-xxxxx</span></td>
    You think you can use the java instructions :
    Enumeration NamesParam = request.getParameterNames();
    while (NomsParam.hasMoreElements()) {
    String NameParam = (String) NamesParam.nextElement();
    out.println("<h4>"++NameParam+ "+</h4>);
    YOU ARE WRONG : request.getParameterNames() wants the syntax *name="nameTableDb2" but JSF must use id="nameTableDb2" for "<h:outputText"... So, you can't process datas in a FORM generated with JSF in a Servlet ! Perhaps I have made an error, but really, I wonder which ?

    While I certainly appreciate ejb's helpful responses, this thread shows up a difference in perspective between how I read the forum and how others do. Author ejb is correct in advising you to stay inside JSF for form processing if form processing is what you want to do.
    However, I detect another aspect to this post which reminds me of something Marc Andreesen once said when he was trying to get Netscape off the ground: "there's no such thing as bad HTML."
    In this case, I interpret ungar's request as a new feature request. Can I phrase it like this?
    "Wouldn't it be nice if I could render my nice form with JSF but, in certain cases, when I REALLY know what I'm doing" just post out to a separate servlet? I know that in this case I'll be missing out on all the nice validation, conversion, l10n, i18n, ajax, portlet and other features provided by JSF".
    If this is the case, because it really misses the point of JSF, we don't allow it, but we do have an issue filed for it
    https://javaserverfaces-spec-public.dev.java.net/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=127
    If you can't wait for it to be fixed, you could decorate the FormRenderer to fix what you want.
    I have an example in my JSF book that shows how to do this decoration. http://bit.ly/edburnsjsf2

  • How can a component generate both stylesheet and HTML code?

    Hi All,
    I've the following problem. My team is working on several "complex" components which provide a rich client-side behavior (via javascript and css). The components are in charge of generating the following:
    + Stylesheet (linked or inline)
    + Javascript via external libraries
    + HTML code
    The problem comes from the fact that the CSS must be generated between the <HEAD> and </HEAD> tags (according to the HTML spec). Obviously, the rest of the code (javascript and HTML) is generated somewhere else on the page, and this is the problem.
    Any ideas on how to solve this?
    I've been thinking about a pre-process phase that would call every components to render the Css, but it requires substancial changes to JSF... Any help is greatly appreciated
    Thanks in advance,
    Stephane
    http://www.otrix.com

    Thanks for the reply but in my case I absolutely need to generate an addhoc css such as:
    <style type="css/....>
    .name 1 {position: absolute; visibility: hidden... }
    .name 1 {padding: 0 0 0 0;}
    </style>
    What I do is that I spit-out the css first and then generate the HTML. It works fine in IE but I really wanted to be conform to the HTML spec which says that a STYLE tag should be located in the <HEAD> tag. I guess it's probably too much work just to be compliant with the spec....
    Thanks again,
    Stephane
