JSF 2.0 Portlet Bridge

Dear Experts,
I have a JSF 2.0 application and was trying to expose it as remote Portlet.
I don't think we have Portal Bridge from Oracle for JSF2.0. What is the alternative? Please provide pointers.
I know there are different implementations and it is being done for Liferay Faces project however I want to try it for Webcenter. Kindly help
Thanks

Dear Experts,
Please let me know if anyone has come across such situation.
Thanks

  • JSF 2.0 portlet development

    Hi there,
    I'm new in the world of J2EE and I'm trying to develop JSF 2.0 portlets to run on JBoss Portal 2.7.
    Unfortunately no JSF 2.0 portlet bridge standard exists (only for JSF 1.2), JBoss Portlet bridge still only supports JSF 1.2 and I didn't find any tutorial to make even a "Hello World" JSF 2.0 portlet.
    The only thing I found is the project portletfaces, a JSF 2.0 portlet bridge, but it can only make it work on Liferay (for wich it is optimized), not on JBoss Portal (or even GateIn). Unfortunately for my project I absolutely need to use JBoss Portal...
    Can anyone help me? Is it mandatory to use a portlet bridge for JSF 2.0 portlet development? Am I screwed?
    Thanks a lot!
    Nicolas!

    Hi gimbal2, thank you for your answer :)
    So yeah, you confirm what I thought: it's to soon, better wait the maturity of the thing
    However, I still have this question: is it possible to develop portlets WITHOUT using a portlet bridge ? Don't I just have to add a few config files (like portlet.xml, jboss-web.xml) and it is on?
    Thanks a lotOf course you can. The bridge is there for interoperability between portlets and other (mostly JSF-based) frameworks. There is nothing stopping you from creating portlets without the bridge and you should just do that until you find you actually need it. My development take on 'management by exception' :)

  • JSF in a portlet problem

    I have a page with a dropdown JSF element in it. I have tried doing this two ways. The first way in a JSF Web Application, the second in a portlet.
    I have a valuechangelistener on the dropdown and I call submit() in onChange. The goal is to process some stuff and add it to another dropdown on the page when it is refreshed. In the JSF Web Application the dropdown is submitted and the value is still selected upon refresh and everything looks good. (The new stuff is there)
    However, when the page refreshes in the portlet it goes back to its default value and I don't get my changes. I see the the query to get the new stuff is being run put the page goes back to its defaults. It seems like the page is getting refreshed twice in the portlet situation and everything I want is getting cleared out. I see that the intialize of the JSF Page java class is getting called there twice in the logs for the portlet situation but onece for the JSF Web Applicaion.

    Hello Edmund,
    The "jsf-naming" tag library you are importing is from the WLP "native" JSF 1.1 portlet bridge, which uses an entirely different way to render JSF as portlets than the new JSR329 JSF 1.2 to Java Portlet 2.0 bridge that you are using (the "GenericFacesPortlet"). Unfortunately, the jsf-naming tags are not compatible with the JSR329 bridge.
    I'm not a JSF expert, so unfortunately I can't suggest an equivalent way of doing what you want to do, but I am sure it is possible. Hopefully someone else on here with JSF expertise can help you out.

  • JSF Portlet Bridge Error

    Hi ,
    I have developed a JSF portlet bridge page , which i am trying to consume in another WebCenter App. However when i open the consuming page i get the following error in the server console

    Hi Kunai,
    Can you take a look at this blog entry featuring a step-by-step screen cast and see if it clears things up? I'd be happy to answer your questions if there's any left.

  • Weblogic Portal 10.3.5 using JSF 1.2 portlets with ADF faces

    We are developing Portal site using Weblogic Portal 10.3.5 with JSF portlet 1.2 and ADF faces (ADF Application runtime 11.1.1.5 ). But the JSF portlets not supporting ADF faces. Please let me know how we use ADF faces in JSF portlet 1.2 in Weblogic Portal.

    Hi Murthy,
    We did a detailed analysis.
    (1) How do we add ADF taskflows, JSF in to weblogic portal desktop/pages? Do we create portlet out of JSF, and display on desktop/page? If this is the case, what about ADf task flows?
    --> Taskflows can be deployed as WSRP2.0 portlets. Note 2 options are there JSF page as portlet or taskflow itself as portlets.
    (2) How do we integrate weblogic user profiles and UUP (unified user profiles) with ADF and JSF?
    --> ADF Security can use Weblogic Server realm as the security provider. Entitlements in WLP will have to be provided based on Weblogic Server roles. In case you are using external LDAP then both can be integrated withe external LDAP
    (3) Can anybody shed some light which this better?
    (a) weblogic portal with JPF (Java page flows), NetUI --Legacy approach
    Pros:
    -Easy Development
    -Well tested integrated
    Cons:
    -Future support
    -Enhancements may not be available
    -Not really portable or standards based
    (b) weblogic portal with ADF, JSF?
    Pros:
    -If your on Oracle stack then great
    -Standards based
    Cons:
    -JSF Portlet bridge issues
    -ADF Faces does not work on IE6!
    Well what we are going for is JSR 286, Trinidad components (Supports IE6), JSF.
    Difficult choice.

  • Webcenter portlet bridge error doBridgeDispatch fails

    HI,
    I'm getting the following error when I create a new page in Webcenter Spaces and add a portlet as
    the only content. The portlet appears to register just fine, it also runs fine by itself, the WSRP info page
    appears to also produce a valid page with a valid WSDL URL. The portlet is hosted on the same weblogic
    server as webcenter, this is on weblogic 10.3.3 with webcenter 11g (11.1.1.3.0) installed. I get this same error everytime
    the portlet is refreshed. The portlet page is a simple myfaces/trinidad JSF page with a simple output label, this
    was developed in JDev as well.

    What version of jdev and webcenter are you using?
    Are you using toplink or ADF BC in your portlets?
    It seems that their is an issue with the connection to your database:

  • Secure the ADF pages in portlet via ADF portlet bridge

    Hi All
    My project is using the ADF security model to do the authentication and authorization and the project can be deploy to weblogic and works fine.
    Currently i want o extend the pages and taskflows to WebCenter portlet client via the ADF portlet bridge. How can i implement the security policy
    to reuse the existing code? i have no idea how the portlet client interactively work with producer to do the authentication.
    appreciated if anyone can give a hand on this or show some examples.

    Could you tell me how you were able to combine an adf-table bound to BC with a portlet in the same page? I'm getting a 'portlet unavailable exception' when I try to customize my RichTextPortlet?
    If I run the portlet on it's own in a jspx-document everything runs just fine, but from the moment you add an adf-component the portlet is unavailable?

  • Oracle JSF portlet Bridge - Passing parameters to Portlet

    Hi All,
    I am referring following link to pass parameters to portlets that are created from TaskFlow.
    http://sqltech.cl/doc/oas11gR1/webcenter.1111/e10148/jpsdg_bridge.htm#CACCJCAA.
    I am able to pass values to portlet by having setters for respective navigation parameter exposed in oracle-portlet.xml file
    Now, how to invoke the method in a portlet that will make use of the passed values and do further processing. The method would be same as getEmployees() mentioned in the tutorial above. But the getEmployee method is not invoked event after doing all the event mapping.
    Regards,
    Sanjay

    AH, if you are using ADF faces than the risk gets smaller. If you are used to eclipse and you developer your ADF application there than i see a good chance for succeeding later on.
    You might have small issues when migrating to JDeveloper but i don't think they will be blocking.
    If you are working with lots of WS, have you looked at the different types of mash-ups you have in WebCenter?
    For example the omniportlet which allows you to integrate webservices and style the parameter forms and output.
    You can also create data controls at runtime in Webcenter that are based upon webservices.
    There aren't many cases available. Maybe you should come to OOW in October (if that isn't to late). There will be some customers presenting their use cases there.

  • ADF Controls not working throught Portlet Bridge

    Hello,
    I have a JSF/ADF Faces very simple application, when I expose this application using Portlet Faces Bridge, JSF controls are working but ADF controls are not working.
    I am using:
    JDeveloper 10.1.3.3
    OC4J 10.1.3.3 Standalone with PDK 10.1.3.2
    Portal 10.1.4.
    Controls work fine in application running outside portal as standard J2EE App.
    Please if someone can provide quick help.
    Thanks

    Do you mean the content is not rendered correctly? Have you configured resource proxying? See Re: WSRP examples - no display chart for the details.
    Kind Regards,

  • How to set focus on a jsf component of portlet based web page ?

    Hi,
    I have a jsf based portlet in a Websphere Portal environment. I have seen the javascript code document.getElementId(form.component).focus for the attribute onLoad in body tag of a page
    But in a portlet page, the body tag is somewhere in the Head page of the portal.
    How do I achieve this in another way? Is there that accesskey attribute for a component help me to set the focus on itself? HOw do I do that? Any help is appreciated
    Thanks

    Don't put it in the body. Put it below in the code, right before the closing body tag.
    Example<f:verbatim>
        <script>
            setFocus('</f:verbatim><h:outputText value="#{myBean.elementIdToFocus}" /><f:verbatim>'); // load on every view
            function setFocus(elementId) {
                var element = document.getElementById(elementId);
                if (element && element.focus) {
                    element.focus();
        </script>
    </f:verbatim>Where MyBean.getElementIdToFocus() returns the UIComponent.getId().

  • Error trying to register a JSF Bridge Portlet in Tech Preview 3

    Hi,
    If anyone has encountered this situation before, or has any advice as to a cause/cure, it would be greatly appreciated!
    I'm following the instructions in the WebCeter Developer Guide - 'Creating Portlets with the JSP Portlet Bridge', and have completed thest steps:
    1. Started the preconfigured OC4J and registered the sample PDK and WSRP sample Portlets successfully to the Resource Pallette
    2. Created an application based on the WebCenter Portlet template
    3. Created a connection to the OC4J instance
    4. Created a basic jspx page containing an af:PanelContainer and af:Table, bound to a Data Control (which runs fine)
    5. Created a portlet.xml ffile, using the 'Create Portlet Entry' for that page
    6. Deployed the application to OC4J, and am able to successfully view the WSDL via the resulting URL
    (http://localhost:6688/MyST-ViewController-context-root/portlets/wsrp2?WSDL)
    7. Tried to create a new Resource Palette WSRP Producer Connection based on this URL as the producer Endpoint
    And it stops me dead there with this error:
    oracle.portlet.client.container.PortletHttpRuntimeException: HTTP <unknown method> request to url http://localhost:6688/MyST-ViewController-context-root/portlets/wsrp2?WSDL failed with status code 500 reason <unknown reason>. I don't know what I was doing wrong, but I was fortunate in that this is a relatively small pilot app, so I tried creating a new WebCenter Application and performing these basic steps again within that application, and it worked!
    I would still appreciate the feedback, if anyone has a suspicion of what would have caused this condition, just to avoid repeating it.

  • JSF Navigation issue with Webcenter OC4J and Open Portal JSF Bridge

    Hi All,
    I was wondering if anybody had experienced the same issue as per below:
    I have a problem using the Open Portal JSF Portlet Bridge within a oracle webcenter OC4J. I have a trivial application with 2 jsps. The first has a single button, which when pushed navigates to the second screen.
    This app works fine as a stand alone web app and also via the Oracle Faces Bridge using the OC4J. However, when I deploy using the jsfportletbridge 1.1.4 (I'm using the JSF 1.1) - it will not navigate from the first page. It simply refreshes the first page when clicked.
    It looks like there is a problem with navigation. I have traced out the application (which I will include in full below), however the entries which looked relevant were (this occured after the first page was rendered):
    07/06/05 23:49:19 [DEBUG] StateManagerImpl - Begin restoring view in session for viewId /hello.jsp
    07/06/05 23:49:19 [DEBUG] StateManagerImpl - Session Available, but View State does not exist for viewId: /hello.jsp
    07/06/05 23:49:19 [TRACE] LifecycleImpl - Creating new view '/hello.jsp'
    My gut feel is that state is not being retained between requests, so it is just recreating the same view, however I'm at a loss to explain why
    Attached below are the files used & trace log:

    I'm missing some things in your portlet.xml deployment descriptor.
    It looks like your application doesn't make use of a JSF binding layer, so it should be enough to initialize a Faces lifecycle listener like this:
    <init-param>
    <name>DefaultPage.view</name>
    <value>/index.jspx</value>
    </init-param>
    <init-param>
    <name>BridgeLifecycleListeners</name>
    <value>
    oracle.portlet.server.bridges.jsf.adf.ADFFacesBridgeLifecycleListener
    </value>
    </init-param>
    The DefaultPage.view parameter specifies the default page of the application to use as the View mode for the portlet. Its location is relative to the web-app-context-root and always start with a /.
    The BridgeLifecycleListeners parameter specifies the filter classes to use. You must ensure that your portlet.xml file is configured to match the filters specified in your web.xml file. If you do not have the proper classes defined in portlet.xml, then you will receive a missing class error. You specify the classes in the BridgeLifecycleListeners init-param in your portlet.xml file:
    <init-param>
    <name>BridgeLifecycleListeners</name>
    <value>listener_class_n[,listener_class_n+1,...]</value>
    </init-param>
    For example, suppose that your application includes AdfFacesFilter filter in its web.xml:
    <filter>
    <filter-name>adfFaces</filter-name>
    <filter-class>oracle.adf.view.faces.webapp.AdfFacesFilter</filter-class>
    </filter>
    You would then need to include the following class in your portlet.xml:
    <init-param>
    <name>BridgeLifecycleListeners</name>
    <value>oracle.portlet.server.bridges.jsf.adf.ADFFacesBridgeLifecycleListener
    </value>
    </init-param>
    Similarly, suppose that ADFBindingFilter filter is defined in web.xml as follows:
    <filter>
    <filter-name>adfBindings</filter-name>
    <filter-class>oracle.adf.model.servlet.ADFBindingFilter</filter-class>
    </filter>
    You would then need to include the following in your portlet.xml:
    <init-param>
    <name>BridgeLifecycleListeners</name>
    <value>oracle.portlet.server.bridges.jsf.adf.ADFFacesBridgeLifecycleListener,
    oracle.portlet.server.bridges.jsf.adf.BindingFacesBridgeLifecycleListener
    </value>
    </init-param>
