JSF getting task instance id

Hi all
I am new to JSF..We are using jsf with the JBPM JPDL Engine.
My question is i able to access the process instance id using JSF expression #{processIntance.getId} ..how do I get the task Instance id ..
I tried #{taskInstance.getId} does not seem to work..
Also if you point me to any useful documentation in this respect..i would be greatful..thanks in advance..

Thanks for your reply.. I sorted this out..
If I need the taskInstance id i need to use it in the task node execution context .It works ok..if used inside the "task-assign" system template..

  • Best practice for upgrading task definition without deleting task instances

    best practice for upgrading task definition in production system without deleting or terminating task instances
    If I try and update a task definition with task instances running I get the following error:
    Task definition 'My Task - Add User' may not be modified while there are active task instances
    Is there a best practice to handle this. I tried to force an update through the console but that didn't work. I tried editing the task from the debug page and got the same error.

    1) Rename the original task definition.
    2) Upload the new task definition with the original name.
    3) Later, after all the running tasks have timed out, delete the old definition.
    E.g., if your task definition is "myWorkflow":
    1) Rename "myWorkflow" to "myWorkflow-old-2009-07-28"
    2) Upload the new task definition as "myWorkflow".
    Existing tasks will stay linked to the original (renamed) workflow definition.
    New tasks will use the new definition.
    As the previous poster notes, depending on the changes you are making, letting the old task definitions stay active could have bad side-effects and might be better avoided.

  • Problem while trying to get task payload in java client.

    Hi,
    I am working on worklist application in 10.1.3 and trying to get task payload in java client.
    In BPEL proces, assigning a XML as following:
    <copy>
    <from expression="bpws:getVariableData('inputVariable','payload','/client:ErrorHandlerBPELProcessRequest/client:inputXML')"/>
    <to variable="initiateTaskInput" part="payload"
    query="/taskservice:initiateTask/task:task/task:payload"/>
    </copy>
    And in java client:
    Element payload = (Element)task.getPayloadAsElement();
    String xml = payload.getNodeValue();
    Result is a null value for xml. I am able to see the input XML is assigned to task payload in BPEL console and payload object is as "oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLElement@13ae670"
    I also tried with getPayload() which returns oracle.bpel.services.workflow.task.model.AnyTypeImpl object.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    Thanks for the reply.
    When I checked for childnodes also, it is showing zero childnodes.
    I had tried with both getTaskQueryService().getTaskDetailsById() method and getTaskQueryService().getTaskVersionDetails() to get details about task.
    I am able to fetch all other details except payload which has been assgined in BPEL process. I don't know why payload is not available.
    Following is input for intiatetask:

  • Tasks.svc: Get task status in SAPUI5

    Hi,
    I'm currently trying to retrieve the status from a task by using oData service "tasks.svc".
    But I don't know how I can access that information.
    In Postman the result of GET request http://<host>:<port>/bpmodata/tasks.svc/TaskCollection(<taskID>) looks like that:
    I tried the following in SAPUI5:
    var taskDataSvcURL = "/bpmodata/taskdata.svc/" + taskId;
    var oDataModel = new sap.ui.model.odata.ODataModel(
                                       taskDataSvcURL, true, false);
    // Both ways to retrieve "Status" don't work...
    var status = tasksODataModel.read("/TaskCollection('"
                             + taskId + "')?$select=Status", null);
    status = tasksODataModel.getProperty("Status");
    if (status === "COMPLETED" || status === "RESERVED") {
      alert(status);
    Could you please tell me how I can access the attribute 'Status'?
    Thanks in advance!
    Best regards,

    Callback<TableColumn<Person, String>, TableCell<Person, String>> ratingCellFactory = new Callback<TableColumn<Person, String>, TableCell<Person, String>>() {
                        @Override
                        public TableCell<Person, String> call(
                                  TableColumn<Person, String> p) {
                             return new RatingCell();
    TableColumn firstNameCol = new TableColumn();
    firstNameCol.setCellFactory(ratingCellFactory);
    firstNameCol.setMinWidth(100);
    firstNameCol.setMaxWidth(224);
    firstNameCol.setResizable(true);
    tableView.getColumns().addAll(firstNameCol);
    tableView.getSelectionModel().selectedItemProperty().addListener(new ChangeListener() {
                  @Override
                  public void changed(ObservableValue observable, Object oldvalue, Object newValue)
                               Person person=(Person)newValue;
                               //I'd like to get the instance of my customize control 'RatingCell' ,How can I get the RatingCell instance which in current row?
                         System.out.println("selected row is : " + newValue );
                  });

    HI,
    I have found a solution to find it
    First ,you need to set person property 'id' as the input parameter for your customized component method 'public void updateItem(String item, boolean empty)'
    ratingCol.setCellValueFactory(new PropertyValueFactory<Person,String>("id"));
    firstNameCol.setCellFactory(ratingCellFactory);and then you need to implement your customize component like this:
    import javafx.scene.control.ContentDisplay;
    import javafx.scene.control.TableCell;
    public class RatingCell extends TableCell<Person,String> {
        private NabiSyncRating rating;
        public RatingCell() {
             rating = new NabiSyncRating(5);
            this.setGraphic(rating);
            this.setContentDisplay(ContentDisplay.GRAPHIC_ONLY);
            this.setEditable(true);
        public void updateRating()
             if(rating!=null)
                  rating.selectRating();
        @Override
        public void startEdit() {
            super.startEdit();
            if (isEmpty()) {
                return;
            rating.setDisable(false);
            rating.requestFocus();
        @Override
        public void cancelEdit() {
            super.cancelEdit();
            rating.setDisable(true);
        public void commitEdit(String value) {
            super.commitEdit(value);
            rating.setDisable(true);
        @Override
        public void updateItem(String item, boolean empty) {
             if(item!=null && item.length()>0)
                  if(rating!=null)
                       rating.setId("NR"+item);
                       this.setId("NC"+item);
                super.updateItem(item, empty);
    } and find the current like this :
    tableView.getSelectionModel().selectedItemProperty().addListener(new ChangeListener() {
                       @Override
                       public void changed(ObservableValue observable, Object oldvalue, Object newValue)
                            Person person=(Person)newValue;
                            Set<Node> colNodes=tableView.lookupAll("RatingCell");
                            for(Node nod:colNodes)
                                 System.out.println("person.email:"+"NC"+person.email.getValue()+"|nodId: " + nod.getId()+"\r\n" );
                                 if(("NC"+person.email.getValue()).equals(nod.getId()))
                                       System.out.println("get current instance" );
                                      ((RatingCell)nod).updateRating();
                       });Edited by: noob on Apr 20, 2012 4:49 PM

  • Can't get an instance of ConnectionPoolManager

    I am trying to share the database connection pool across not only app modules but some of our pages that need to connect to the db but do not have app modules on them. But when I try to get the ConnectionPoolManager instance, it fails (UNLESS a page with an app module on it was loaded first). If I try to get the instance first I get a nullpointer exception. Important note: I am in my own connection wrapper class so I do not have a session or pageContext.
    I do this in my static initializer block of my class:
    poolManager = ConnectionPoolManagerFactory.getConnectionPoolManager();
    (this throws a null pointer exception)
    and I've traced the error to this line in the ConnectionPoolManagerFactory getting null back:
    String s = PropertyMetadata.PN_POOL_MANAGER.getProperty();
    I suspect it is because the oracle.jbo.PropertyManager.loadProperties has not been run yet. The javadocs says: "This class is used at framework initialization time to choose values for the various properties".
    So, my questions are:
    1) How can I initialize the framework from my bean that is not tied to a session?
    2) If I have to invoke an app mod instance to make this work....is there a simple way to create a dummy app mod instance from a bean that is not tied to a session?

    Hi,
    As you have figured out the ConnectionPoolManagerFactory was intended for use by the BC4J RT only -- it has never been
    tested for use by an Object external to the oracle.jbo.server package. That said, I can see the value in maintaining a single
    connection pool across BC4J and non-BC4J applications. I was able to workaround the exception reported above using the 9.0.3
    preview release with the following test procedure:
    System.setProperty(
    PropertyMetadata.PN_POOL_MANAGER.pName
    , PropertyMetadata.PN_POOL_MANAGER.pDefault);
    try
    Class.forName("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver");
    catch (Exception e)
    ConnectionPoolManager mgr = ConnectionPoolManagerFactory.getConnectionPoolManager();
    String poolKey = mgr.generatePoolKey("jdbc:oracle:thin:scott/tiger@localhost:1521:ORCL", null);
    Connection conn = mgr.getConnection(
    poolKey
    , "jdbc:oracle:thin:scott/tiger@localhost:1521:ORCL"
    , null
    , null
    , null);
    if (conn != null)
    System.out.println("success");
    mgr.returnConnection(poolKey, conn);
    Please note the first line that adds the ConnectionPoolManagerImpl classname to the System properties. Please note that this
    property could also be specified at the command line with a VM parameter:
    -Djbo.ConnectionPoolManager=oracle.jbo.server.ConnectionPoolManagerImpl
    I have filed an enhancement request for this use case and will provided better support in 9.0.4.
    Hope this helps.

  • Create multiple Task Instance from one Task Instance

    We have a process, where user can request for multiple resources(access) in one single request.Currently user has to wait until all the resource requests are approved by application owners to start the provisioning process.
    I am thinking of splitting that one request(task) into multiple task, based on the number of resources requested.so that, if one resource request is approved user can get that particular access.
    My question :
    1.How will I split the one task into multiple task and pass the required information to child task?
    2.How do I handle views?Currently since its one task , we checkout and check-in the same view.
    3.How will I overcome the possibility of one view overwritten by the other.

    Thanks.Hi,
    yes u can split one task into multiple task means as ur requirment diffrent task for different resource. so u have to write diffrent W/F for each resource and call them by setting a counter for number of resource.
    the below code help u.

  • How to get process instance id

    Hi,
    We are invoking a long lived process from a client using Java API (EJB end point).
    We are getting the JobId in return. Is there a way to get the process instance Id through API.
    Searched a lot in the documentation. Finally inclining to query the table directlyTB_PROCESS_INSTANCE  on LONG_LIVED_INVOCATION_ID.
    Appreciate a lot if any expert point us to an API way of doing the same

    We have tried to use the following approach to get process instance id right after invoking a process.
    - Define an OUT process variable to contain process id
    - A set value step right after invocation sets this out variable with process id variable value which is available by default
    - InvocationResponse.getOutputParameters() to read the output variable
    The problem is in the map returned by getOutputParameters() is not having our output variable , but just the JobId.
    Anyone tried this before? Are we missing sometiing?
    Any expert help is highly appreciated..

  • Getting the instance of a program

    I'm trying to build an app that when starting checks if there's another instance of the same program running, and get an instance to the other program. Basically i'm trying to avoid having 2 application windows, and reuse the existing window when the program is called again.
    Is there a standardized method for doing so? if not, does anyone have some sample code ?

    I need to get Class instance of a class in my project. Inorder to use the reflection API 's the package name of the class is needed , but it may not be available Only available thing is the name of the class file and the location where that file is existing .
    Please suggest some method to get Class instance in this situation.

  • Can not get two instances to join same cluster even on same machine

    On a RedHat Linux box, I have failed to get two instances of coherence to join the same cluster. I have managed to get the muticast test tool to show that packets are being sent and received. To do this, I had to:
    java -cp bin/tangasol.jar -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true com.tangosol.net.MulticastTest
    Wed Apr 15 21:02:45 WET 2009: Sent packet 1.
    Wed Apr 15 21:02:45 WET 2009: Received test packet 1 from self (sent 7ms ago).
    Wed Apr 15 21:02:47 WET 2009: Sent packet 2.
    Wed Apr 15 21:02:47 WET 2009: Received test packet 2 from self
    Wed Apr 15 21:02:49 WET 2009: Sent packet 3.
    Wed Apr 15 21:02:49 WET 2009: Received test packet 3 from self (sent 1ms ago).
    Wed Apr 15 21:02:51 WET 2009: Sent packet 4.
    Wed Apr 15 21:02:51 WET 2009: Received test packet 4 from self
    However, I could not get the following to show that two instances are joining the same cluster... When I start to instances, both of them create a new cluster with only one member in each.
    java -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true -jar lib/coherence.jar
    and obviously, when I try to start two instances of the sample application, I get the same problem.
    java -cp ./lib/coherence.jar:./lib/tangosol.jar:./examples/java -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true -Dtangosol.coherence.localhost=172.16.27.10 -Dtangosol.coherence.localport=8188 -Dtangosol.coherence.cacheconfig=/cache/explore-config.xml com.tangosol.examples.explore.SimpleCacheExplorer

    Thanks for that... I ran:
    jdk1.6.0_13/bin/java -Dtangosol.coherence.log.level=6 -Dtangosol.coherence.log=/my1.log -Dtangosol.ccacheconfig=/cache/explore-config.xml -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true -jar lib/coherence.jar
    and then

    from the same machine and get the following from the log file of the second run (my2.log)
