JSF Page Creation wizard title configuration uses old values!
I just noticed that if you don't explicit change the value of the page's title in the JSF Page Creation Wizard, the page created will get the title from the last page where you changed the title.
Tested in JDev 10.1.3.1Production and JDev 10.1.3.1 Preview
I'm thinking this has to do with the fact that the UIComponents use the localValue after validation fails. This prevents the values from being overwritten when re-rendering the page, i.e. the inputs keep the value set by the user.
The solution is to manipulate the components directly during the AJAX request when the first pull down is changed. Use the binding attribute to place them into your bean and clear the value directly. That way it will not matter that the expression is not evaluated.

BPC 7.0 MS Script-Logic problem: New values used, old values written?
I am trying to using BPC Script logic to update my Sales cube, specifically Revenue=Units*Price and Price=Revenue/Units using the "Price" stored in a seperate Price cube.
Inside default.lgl, I am *INCLUDE-ing my own script:

Now, when I insert new "Units" values using the std. Excel template, strange things happen:
- The Revenues seems to be computed and updated correctly in the cube (if I check them using excel templates, they show up).
- The Units seem to have the values they had before... seems they get old values ?!
E.g. if I have several write operations say, I write units=2,3,4 and price is constant 10,
the values in the cube seem to be (table):
value written, units in cube, revenue
3 , 2 , 30
4, 3 , 40
The new value is somewhere in the MS Analysis cube, otherwise, how could later be the new value be shown, although the excel templates seem to show old values?
Any explanation for that strange behaviour?I simplified and wrote the prices in the same cube as I send the data from with the excel template.
I tried using:

If I enter revenue instead, seems that the 1st block is executed as well (why????!!!/how to avoid - I use *WHEN - what else should I do? ) which would explain the behaviour I get the old values for Units and Account again...

Configuring velocity to use into JSF pages

I am newer with JSF and, I don't know how to insert Velocity code into JSF page. Is it possible? How I must configure my webapp to use Velocity+JSF?

Passing parameter between JSF pages
I need to pass a parameter value between 2 different JSF pages.
The reason I need to do this is to be able to know which JavaBean (A or B) called the other JavaBean (C).
Can I somehow set a parameter within the JSF page and retrieve it in the second JSF page for my backing bean to read?

Here is the final solution in case someone else needs to do the same thing in the future:
In the main JSF page that calls the second JSF page, the following code was added at the beginning of the page in the JavaScript section:

And in the Backing Bean of the second JSF page, the following code was used in the action listener used to transfer the data:
HttpSession session = (HttpSession) context.getExternalContext().getSession(true);

Can JSF page content convert to PDF?
I want to develop a jsf page that when user click a button can display a pdf file that contain the jsf page content. I know using iText can generate pdf but what i read the example in the iText homepage all is like adding the line by line using document.add() or paragragh , anyway can do it ?

I have a JSF page containing both standard JSF components and custom components. In the page am able to trigger AJAX requests,capture the requests in phaselistener. Now what I want is to generate output for a particular div inside the whole page. This div in turn contains a JSF page. The HTML markup corresponding to the page has to be sent to the browser.
(i.e) I need a mechanism wherein I can specify the name of JSF page,get the HTML markup for the same and send it across to the browser as response. Please guide me as how to go about it.Its been a week since I posted this query.Still no replies. Let me make myself clear.

Jsf page not getting refreshed with updated values?

- On a request, Even though, I am updating the bean's properties(values), my Jsf page is not getting refreshed with updated values as it is displaying the older values.

For this moment I only can say you that the more common cause to this problem (in my expirence) is that you have problems with your conversion/validate phase. -
JbiValidator calls the setAttribute to the old value when validate fails
I tried to implement a Custom Validator by extending a JboValidator Interface. I applied the validator to an attribute. I tested the the validation on a JSF page. When I input an invalid value on the attribute, the validator runs but the problem is the framework sets the value of the attribute to its old value by calling again the setter function (setAttribute()) which in turn calls the validator again.
This is what I have observed. If this is what the framework really does, then how can I suppress the firing of the validator when it sets it back to the old value?

AntonThanks to all for your responses. Regarding accessing of new value inside value change listener, I am sure ValueChangeEvent.getNewValue() is not going to give me the value with proper data type. I am not using immediate attribute anywhere but use custom domain data type with masking (i.e. Formatter Format). Also I use InputDate field. Always valueChangeEvent.getNewValue() gives me the string representation of the value but not with actual data type.
Question:
1. Is there any API, that gets the valueChangeEvent.getNewValue() and the UI components as parameters and return the data with proper data type?
2. I need to get the newly value with proper data type inside valueChangeListener. Is it achievable? If so, how?

Using Business Components in JSF pages
I have several questions about using BCs in JavaServer Faces pages. I'm new to the JSF-BC development world.
Here's what I'm trying to accomplish: a salesperson gets a call from a customer requesting a quote. The salesperson selects the URL for my RFQ form and begins filling it out. If there is an existing customer record in the company's database, the salesperson wants to be able to load customer info into the form from the database, rather than typing it all in. Reasonable enough, and probably simply enough.
But it's kickin' my butt. I've created the domain objects (including one for the customer database, call it "CU") and the model objects (a View Object that filters out all fields but those needed on the form, an Application Module with a View Object Instance). Initially I am routing from the main form window to a dialog window where I am hosting the customer selection components, intending to return to the main window with the selection. On the dialog window I've dropped the VO and configured it to be an ADF Navigation List (which gets implemented as an af:selectOneChoice component). So far so good. The navigation to and from is working fine. The selectOneChoice list is being populated with the first range of returned records. Here's where I'm stuck.
First of all I can't figure out how to kick the iterator into sending additional records after it's first range. You can scroll down to the end of the list in the selectOneChoice component but nothing happens after that. I know I can set the iterator's range to 0 to get all of the records dumped in at once, but that takes way too long. Any ideas?
Secondly, when a selection is made, how do I access the selected data? I have set up a ValueChangeListener method in my dialog's backing bean that gets the NewValue() from the event object, but that value turns out to be the index into the collection of selectItems. How do I get the value of the data that shows in the list? Is that the label of the selectItem? If so, how do I access it? What I really want is to get the entire row of data represented by the returned index, but I'm lost as to how to do that. Any help would be much appreciated.
At some point I want to let the salesperson type in a partial customer name and then retrieve only records matching the query's where clause. I see where I can create a bind variable on the view object, but am not sure how to pass the partial name value from the main form to the dialog. Currently I use an EL expression in the Action attribute of an af:selectInputText component to navigate to the dialog and I don't think I can pass parameters with that. I guess I would have to switch to using a method binding to a backing bean, eh? But even if I can get the partial name value to the dialog, how do I bind that value to the bind variable of the VO? (the VO that is already bound to the af:selectOneChoice component in the dialog.)
And I am totally open to alternative suggestions for how to accomplish the original intention of all of this. Thanks for any guidance.
Johnny LeeThanks, Shay. That has gotten me a few steps further along. I modified my VO by creating a bind variable and modified the SQL to use this variable in it's where clause. I generated Java for my AppMod (which I hadn't done before, preferring to keep things simple) and created a method to supply a value to my VO's new bind variable. I need a little more hand-holding, though, to wire an input text field & button (or af:selectInputText?) to both the AppMod's new method AND the data component that will display the query results.
"...drag the exposed method as a button onto a JSF page." That's easy enough, but I haven't yet figured out from the examples how to associate the value of an input component with the parameter of the AppMod's new method. It's getting late, I'm starting to see cross-eyed so I will sleep on this and take another look in the morning. Thanks for your help.

JSF page & Sqlserver DB - gave 'Use the sqljdbc4' class error !
Hello,
I created an JSF page with business components and data controls generated from a connected sqlserver database.
The driver class used is 'sqljdbc4.jar' and works for all generaled VIEW LINKS by the AppModule.
However, on running the created JSF page, I get the following error - although the 'sqljdbc4.jar class (NOT sqljdbc.jar) is used for the DB connection, and the only reference in the application.
The error message is:
Could not create pool connection. The DBMS driver exception was: Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version 1.6 is not supported by this driver. Use the sqljdbc4.jar class library, which provides support for JDBC 4.0.
QUESTION: Does that mean that I need to locate another sqlserver driver that supports JRE version 1.6 - although I understood from the documentation that 'sqljdbc4.jar' should work with JRE version 1.6?

As per the configuration, when exception is thrown out of the application, container tries to display systemError.jsp page. If we want to include the JSF tags in systemError.jsp page, the request should pass through FacesServlet, so in the <error-page> <location> tag systemError page is specified with the extention systemError.jsf though it's actual extention is .jsp
When exception is thrown from the application container invoke the error page but, while rendering systemError.jsf page exception is thrown saying "Exception processing error page "systemError.jsp" "
To solve this problem i've gone through several forums, materials.
In one forum a guy said, JSF1.1 spec has some problem in displaying error pages. To solve this don't write <f:view> tags in the error page, use <f:subview> intstead. By reading this, i again changed the contents of systemError.jsp page replacing <f:view> by <f:subview>. But the error is still repeating.
Finally what i found is, when we use Ajax4jsf in the application, its AjaxViewRender class is throwing exception while rendering error pages configured through web.xml.
So what i did is i changed error page extention from .jsf to .jsp in the <location> tag. Now jsf won't come in the picture and remove JSF related tags from the systemError.jsp page.

System IP address in title of JSF page
Hi..
I am using window.open() to open a new jsf in a jsf page..
But the opened page title is preceded by the IP address of the system..
Please tell me how to avoid that IP address in the page title..
