JSF tabs

Hi all,
Is it possble to open a new URL through tab click? More clearly new url shoud open in the same window in a particular section of the screen. There 'll be a header section, which'll have 2, 3 tabs. When user clicks on those tabs, new url opens in the area below the header.
Thanks in advance!!

If you are asking about this,
<%@ taglib prefix="d" uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/demo/components"  %>I tried to use it, but this uri seemed to be unavailable. Please help me.

    Hello Guies...
    I want to use some java script on the click of JSF Tab.
    Any suggestion will be appriciated....

    Put it in the 'onclick' attribute?
    What is that "JSF Tab" you're talking about? If you're talking about a tabbed panel, please also specify the name of the component. There are lot of JSF implementations for tabbed panels, for example Tomahawk, Icefaces, ADF, IBM, Odyssey, etc.

  • JSF Tab component and Dynamic Faces AjaxZone

    Has anyone tried to use a JSF Tab Component in a Dynamic Faces Ajax Zone. I would like to try to have a page that has a list of the alphabet, each tab being one letter and then adding terms an definitions to each tab. Do you have any comments or suggestions regarding doing this. I am at a loss as to how to make the tab component respond when clicking on it in the ajaxZone. any help would be appreciated. thnx

    The Scales and Tomahawk libraries provides a tabbed panel.
    But basically tabs are nothing less or more than a bunch of block elements layered over each other with the same amount of buttons or links at the top. If a tab click doesn't require a trip to the server, then you can just load all tab blocks at once and use Javascript+DOM to switch between tab blocks, e.g. one block should be displayed using element.style.display='block' and all other blocks should be hidden using element.style.display='none'. If a tab click require a trip to the server (to preinitialize stuff or so), then you can use the 'rendered' property of the tab block element (which can be <h:panelGroup style="display:block;" rendered="#{myBean.showTab == 1}" /> or so).
    For styling of the tab blocks and tab buttons/links just use CSS.

  • Is there any Dynamic JSF tab component support?

    It seems that there're some JSF implementation support tab instead of JSF RI. but the way they work are wirte the static tags in the jsp.but my situation is -----
    dynamicly create tabs according to data, where means if there is 3 options, then make to tabs. if 3, then 3 -----
    if there any support out there somewhere? thanks!!

  • Core JSF - Tab Component Example

    I have the Core Java Server Faces book, and in reading the "Component" chapter, there is an example of creating a Component which acts like Tab pane, that simply links to different pages.
    Is this a practical application ?
    I have implemented something similar on a site (using struts), but simply used raw HTML and CSS, put it into an include, and, viola. Done.
    The total code is about 10 lines, and the actual code needed to do the include is about 3 lines... looking much like the custom tag shown in the book.
    Here are the only reasons I think this is actually practical... and please give me some other reasons, as I tooootally want to know some reasons why you'd code near 1000 lines (UI Component, the tag, a renderer...etc):
    1) the Renderer. you could code your app so it's available to be rendered on a cell phone, etc.
    2) cutting out the hardcoded html... but don't see this as that big of an issue.
    Let me know what you think. I'm trying to decide whether to refactor my tabs into a component... but, I'm thinking it's not worth it.
    Any help would be appreciated !
    Thanks !!

    but simply used raw HTML and CSSBut your application code should tend to be messy and hard to maintain
    or extend.
    I like JSF component because of its variety of custom attributes, value
    binding and method binding on them; event mechanism, declarative resource
    configuration and simple EL notation supporting those binding features.

  • Styling Panel tabs in JSF with CSS

    Hello,

    There are tabbed panel components available. For example the Tomahawk's [t:panelTabbedPane|http://myfaces.apache.org/tomahawk/tabbedPane.html].

  • Navigation issue using jsf, tiles, tomahawk  :loosing faces context

    Hi all,
    I enhanced my webapp using tomahawks jscookmenu.
    Triggering 1 menuItem the wanted pages displays correctly but the next click anywhere in the application shows this error:
    org.apache.jasper.JasperException: javax.faces.FacesException: Faces context not found. getResponseWriter will fail. Check if the FacesServlet has been initialized at all in your web.xml configuration fileand if you are accessing your jsf-pages through the correct mapping.               <servlet-name>imageServlet</servlet-name>
              <url-pattern>/image/*</url-pattern>
         </servlet-mapping>
    </web-app>So I lost the faces context using the jscookmenu, I believe.
    My webapp uses tiles, and there is 2 navigation possibilities: tomahawaks jscookmenu and tomahawaks commandNavigation.
    Latter one runs ok, I do use
    <t:panelNavigation id="nav" styleClass="navigation"
         itemClass="navitem" separatorClass="navseparator"
         activeItemClass="navitem_active" openItemClass="navitem_open">
         <t:commandNavigation action="#{newsHandler.userRequest}" value="#{newsHandler.rss_source_name[0]}">
              <f:param name="navigator"  value="/jsf/news.jsp" />
         </t:commandNavigation>
    </t:panelNavigation>for this kind of navigation I do not use any navigation rules in faces config. To dynamically include the desired faces page I do that:
    <%
         String s = (String)request.getParameter("navigator");
         if (s == null || s.length() == 0 ) {
              s =  "/jsf/explorer.jsp";
    %>
    <jsp:include page="<%=s %>" />That does work.
    Now like I said I did enhance the app by adding tomahawks jscookmenu.
    Therefore I use the following in another tile:
    <t:jscookMenu layout="hbr" theme="ThemeOffice" styleLocation="resources/css">
              <%/* Availaible jscookMenu themes: ThemeIE, ThemeMiniBlack, ThemeOffice, ThemePanel
                 Availaible jscookMenu layout: hbr, hbl, hur, hul, vbr, vbl, vur, vul
                 respect to Heng Yuan http://www.cs.ucla.edu/~heng/JSCookMenu
            */%>
      <t:navigationMenuItem id="nav_0" itemLabel="#{localz.Xplorer}" action="Xplorer" />
    </t:jscookMenu>For this kind of navigation I tried to use navigation rules and the following show the config:
         <navigation-rule>
           <from-view-id>/jsf/*</from-view-id>
            <navigation-case>
                <from-outcome>Xplorer</from-outcome>
                <to-view-id>/jsf/tileMain.jsp?navigator=/jsf/explorer.jsp</to-view-id>
            </navigation-case>
            <navigation-case>
                <from-outcome>Tabs</from-outcome>
                <to-view-id>/jsf/tileMain.jsp?navigator=/jsf/tab.jsp</to-view-id>
            </navigation-case>
         </navigation-rule>That works for the first click. The desired page is shown. The nect click anywhere in the app then show the mentioned error.
    Using tiles I use this view-handler
    <view-handler>org.apache.myfaces.tomahawk.application.jsp.JspTilesViewHandlerImpl</view-handler>One question is: can I use another view-handler on top of the above one? So I could extend com.sun.facelets.FaceletViewHandler and try my luck with this? Or is the solution pointed out just a millisecond from being ok, I just dont see it?
    Maybe you need to know a bit more on how I use tiles:
    That is the page I start with. It inserts the tile shown underneath.
    <f:view locale="#{userLocale}">
         <f:loadBundle var="localz" basename="my.com.xplorer.gui.v.Lokalization" />
         <f:loadBundle var="bundle" basename="my.com.xplorer.gui.v.messages" />
         <f:subview id="tileMain">
              <h:form id="myJsfForm" styleClass="standard">
                        <tiles:insert definition="template" flush="false" />
              </h:form>
         </f:subview>
         <h:messages />
    </f:view>
    </html>The foolowing is the tile structure.
    The bodi tile is the dynamic part. Above you see that I dynamically load the pages into it.
    <t:htmlTag value="div" styleClass="pageLayout">
         <h:panelGrid columns="2" align="center" styleClass="pageContent">
              <f:facet name="header">

    There seems to be a sort of gap regarding jsf navigation documentation.
    I mean the ordinary way is covered everywhere (the book I have covers that too), but jscookmenu seems not to fit in too good. I also tried it with an actionslistener in the jscookmenu but that failed, too. So a link to documents telling the truth on jsf navigation I would appreciate very much.

  • Form inside Tabbed Pane

    Hi, I have a JSF Tabbed Pane with 5 tabs and one of the tab's content contains a datascroller with an input text field 'Go To' where the user can enter the page number to jump to. When I hit enter after typing in a page number, it seems like it just refreshes the page (I think it processes as a Tabbed Pane 'tabchangeevent' but in fact it's not). However, after typing in a page number, and manually clicking the 'Go' button, it submits correctly (to the datascroller) and displays the correct content. Any ideas what could be the problem?

    I would try using static, compile time includes rather than runtime includes.

  • Open jsf page in new tab

    Please, could someone explain me how I can open jsf page on button click in new browser tab? I use JDev 11g.

    Are you using go link or go button ?
    If Yes so then go link or go button has one property called target frame which has following value :
    _blank: The link opens the document in a new window.
    _parent: The link opens the document in the window of the parent. For example, if the link appeared in a dialog window, the resulting page would render in the parent window.
    _self: The link opens the document in the same page or region.
    _top: The link opens the document in a full window, replacing the entire page.
    Which will applicable in your case you can use .
    Thanks

    Did you get the solution for this. I seem to have the same problem.

  • How to skip span elements while tabbing thru a JSF view's form

    I have a form in a xhtml file that while I tab thru the fields, the focus goes to a <span> element which is rendered from a custom JSF tag. This is an expand/collapse section header. I don't want the focus to stop there at all.
    I have tried the following to no avail:
    1) disabled="true"
    2) tabindex="0"
    3) tabindex="-1"
    4) onfocus="this.blur();" <-- the onfocus event doesn't fire as this is rendered as a <span/> tag (not an input field)
    None of these attempted solutions worked apparently b/c the <span> element is not an inputtable field. What is the best solution for this problem?
    Must I dynamically set the tabindex attributes for all of the fields, thus bypassing the <span> elements? This is difficult to do with getter methods and counters in a backing bean as the getters are called X times throughout the JSF lifecycle.
    thx.

This is difficult to do with getter methods and counters in a backing bean as the getters are called X times throughout the JSF lifecycle.Setting tabindex will help. Or, you can use JavaScript to capture tabbing keystrokes- but JavaScript will be too much of an overkill in this case.

  • JSF -Tomahawk Tabs

    I'm using JSF Tomahawk tabbedPane... to get the tabs... I have the commandbutton inside each t:panelTab whwn i click dat commandbutton, the action it is supposed to perform is done but it shows the first tab contents..
    for ex if i have commandbutton in second tab wen i click it performs correctly but first tab becomes active... i want dat particular tab to be active in which user has clicked commandbutton hw shall i do it...
    <t:panelTabbedPane id="editorPanel" >
    <t:panelTab id="tab11" label="Tab1" >
    <h:commandbutton action="" />
    </t:panelTab>
    <t:panelTab id="tab22" label="Tab2" >
    <h:commandbutton action="" />
    </t:panelTab>
    </t:paneltabbedPane>

    Thanks BalusC . Let me re iterate my question. I am new to JSF to pardon me if my terminology is not correct.
    I have a list which contains object .I have to generate tabs based on contents on list. So if list contain 3 objects I have to generate 3 tabs . Each page inside tab will have same layout but will be populated with different content.
    With that said. I used jsf pane_tab and I tried different ways to iterate over the list and include the jsp which will contain the layout. More specifically I tried something like below with different variations .
    <%
         for (int i = 0 ; i< list.size() ; i++)
              String abc = "name"+ i;
              %>
    <d:pane_tab id="<%= abc %>" >
    <f:facet name="label">
    <d:pane_tablabel label="test" commandName="third"/>
    </f:facet>
    <jsp:include page="addMaintenence.jsp"/>
    </d:pane_tab>
              <%
    %>
    It gives duplicate id error. Now I am not sure if my approach is right or not. Also if it not correct what should I try ??
    Any pointers would be helpful.
    Thanks in advance.

  • JSF Page Fragment based on Oracle Dynamic Tabs Shell Template

    Hi
    JDeveloper 11.1.1.6
    Can we create a JSF Page Fragment (jsff) based on an Oracle Dynamic Tabs Shell Template ?
    I tried to create this jsff page and added in a bounded taskflow.
    In the create jsff wizard, it will allow us to select the Oracle Dynamic Tabs Shell Template, but when trying to use this taskflow in the another page (jspx), it is giving the following exception.
    javax.faces.FacesException: javax.el.PropertyNotFoundException: Target Unreachable, 'tabContext' returned null
    at com.sun.faces.application.ApplicationImpl.createComponent(ApplicationImpl.java:261)
    at javax.faces.webapp.UIComponentELTag.createComponent(UIComponentELTag.java:222)
    Basically the reason why I am trying to do like this is that I have to simply drop the taskflow in a page as a region.
    The ViewController project code will only be created as an ADF Library Jar File and be used in other projects
    (it will not be deployed as a web application (war))
    More about the requirement:
    I have a BPM Application in which I have 2 ADF ViewController projects, one for only BPM Human Task related UI and another for only ADF functionality.
    I am writing a custom BPM Workspace kind of ADF Application and want the UI to be based on the Oracle Dynamic Tab Shell Template.
    ADF ViewController project is deployed only as a ADF Library Jar file.
    Another advantage I can have is I can test my ADF code within JDeveloper.
    (If I create a jspx page based Oracle Dynamic Tab Shell Template in the BPM Human Task Related UI project, I will not be able to run it in JDeveloper and test it.
    Otherwise I have to deploy to the SOA environment each time I make a change)
    Thanks for any help.
    Sameer

    Hi,
    the dynamic tab shell template can only be used with top level (JSPX) pages (in 12c also with Facelet pages). There is no configuration for templates that would make the JDeveloper IDE to not show the template of the selected page is a fragment.
