JSP accesing data from inside a servlet

Is there any way. I dont want to have to forward anything
Is there any include I can do and the contents would be parsed then
I could run servlet methods and display the data on the JSP?

Why dont u try to use some java non-servlet class rather than servlet.

    Hi Vinodaggarwal87,
    According to your description, you want to retrieve data from sharepoint list in a sub folder. Right?
    In this scenario, we should select the XML data source type and in the connection string provide the
    List.asmx service URL when creating data source. Then we need to use the List web Service and specify "recursive" for ViewAttribute in Lists.asmx. For detail steps, please refer to the links below:
    Generate SSRS report on SharePoint List with folders using List Service.
    SSRS: how to specify ViewAttributes when creating a report against a SharePoint's list
    If you want to set the ViewAttribute on CAML query level. You need add the view tag outside of query tag:
    <View Scope="RecursiveAll">
        <Query>
            <Where>...</Where>
        </Query>
    </View>

    But, now, i want to fetch data from data base. I will be giving inputs in the web page(for the query)....ON click of submit button,

  • Send data from doPost() in servlet to AJAX

    Hi
    I need to send data from my servlet to my html(which contains AJAX), so as per the motivation of the AJAX, this should be done without my webpage reloading / refresh.
    my code on the ajax side is something like this:
    var xmlHttp = false;
    function getXMLHttpRequest(val) {
        try{
             xmlHttp = new XMLHttpRequest();
        }catch(err1){
            try{
                 xmlHttp = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP");
            catch(err2){
                try { xmlHttp = new ActiveXObject("Msxml2.XMLHTTP");}
                catch(err3){ request = null;}
        if (xmlHttp == false) {
            alert("Error creating request object !!");
        else if(xmlHttp != false){
            return xmlHttp;
    var xmlhttp = new getXMLObject();
    function ajaxFunction() {
           if(xmlHttp) {
            var value1 = document.getElementById("value1");
            xmlHttp.open("POST","ajax_controlller",true); //getname will be the servlet name
            xmlHttp.onreadystatechange  = handleServerResponse;
            xmlHttp.setRequestHeader('Content-Type', 'application/x-www-form-urlencoded');
            xmlHttp.send("value1=" + value1.value); //Posting txtname to Servlet
    function handleServerResponse() {
         if (xmlHttp.readyState == 4) {
              if(xmlHttp.status == 200) {
    //            document.myForm.message.innerHTML=xmlHttp.responseText;
                alert(xmlHttp.responseText); //Update the HTML Form element
              else {
                 alert("Error during AJAX call. Please try again");
         }and the servlet (doPost()) looks like this :
                  if(request.getParameter("value1") != null){
                   value = request.getParameter("value1");
              else
                   value = "";
              response.setContentType("text/html");
              response.getWriter().write("helllo");I however, do not understand what is wrong, do I need to specify the name of the html file just like we do in case of RequestDispatcher() methods. I dont think that is the case here ?

    The problem is: My value is passed correctly from my HTML(ajax) file to the servlet but I am not able to send the result(or data) from the servlet to the HTML (ajax) file, I know I can do this easily by session management but I need to establish this without the session management , In the servlet I use
    response.setContentType("text/html");
    response.getWriter().write("helllo");
    and in the HTML file I use
    function handleServerResponse() {
         if (xmlHttp.readyState == 4) {
              if(xmlHttp.status == 200) {
                alert(xmlHttp.responseText); //Update the HTML Form element
              else {
                 alert("Error during AJAX call. Please try again");
            }so as per the logic I should get the alert as the result sent by the servlet on the same html page, but instead the servlet writes the hello on the new page, the URL of this page is the address of the servlet itself, so I conclude that I am not able to establish the connection between the servlet and the html file. Could you clarify this please ?

  • Send data from bean to servlet and get results back to bean

    Hi,
    I'm new to this helpful forum and, as long as I'm practicing with JFS and Java Beans and Servlets, I really need some help about the following crappy issue.
    I made a JSP login page called "LoginPage.jsp" (using "Visual Web JSF Page" tool in NetBeans 6.0), and the action associated to the "Login" button pression is defined in the associated Java Bean "LoginPage.java":
    Code from "LoginPage.jsp":
    <webuijsf:button actionExpression="#{LoginPage.loginButton_action}" binding="#{LoginPage.loginButton}" id="loginButton" primary="true" style="height: 24px; left: 383px; top: 192px; position: absolute; width: 96px" text="Login"/>
    Code from "LoginPage.java":
    public String loginButton_action()
        if (usernameField.equals("guest") && passwordField.equals("guest")) // this control should be done by a servlet, not here!
            return "loginOK"; // this is the outcome for faces-config.xml that will lead to a "Welcome.jsp" page
        else
            return "loginERROR"; // this is the outcome for faces-config.xml that will lead to a "Error.jsp" page
    ...Now, the problem is that the username and password control should not be done by the bean itself, but by a servlet (call it "LoginServlet.java").
    In a few words, what I mean is that once the user writes username and password and presses the "Login" button, the called "loginButton_action()" forwards all the needed data to the servlet "LoginServlet.java", the servlet does the complete checks about login validity then prepares the result (it could be a string reporting "OK" or whatever else) and send it back to the bean "LoginPage.java", so that the flow can continue.
    My problem is that I absolutely don't know how to make a bean and a servlet communicate in both ways and respectively exchange data.
    Thanks in advance for any help, it will really be appreciated.

    Google for passing values in request and session.

  • Accessing a binding from inside a servlet

    Hey all,
    So I'm attempting to access a binding from a servlet instead of using the ApplicationModule approach which is recognized as a bad idea (http://blogs.oracle.com/jdevotnharvest/2010/11/when_to_use_createrootapplicationmodule_in_oracle_adf.html). However, when the code is executing in the servlet the line BindingContent.getCurrentBindingsEntry() returns null! I think there's something missing in my configuration that's causing ADFm to not recognize the servlet as having a binding file. Anything stand out?
    So inside of a servlet I have the following:
    public class RSSNewsServlet extends HttpServlet {

    BindingContext bctx = BindingContext.getCurrent();
    BindingContainer bindings = bctx.getCurrentBindingsEntry();

    when the code is executing in the servlet the line BindingContent.getCurrentBindingsEntry() returns null!The method BindingContext.getCurrentBindingsEntry() returns from the requestScope the variable with key "bindings". When using ADF Faces this variable is set at ADF Faces' Prepare Model phase (by the PageLifecycleImpl.prepareModel() method). But when using a plain servlet this variable is not set (because the ADF Faces' page lifecycle is not executed) and this is the reason why you get a null result. As a workaround you can use the following code in your servlet:
    BindingContext bctx = BindingContext.getCurrent();
    DCBindingContainer pagedef = bctx.findBindingContainerByPath(request.getServletPath());
    bctx.setCurrentBindingsEntry(pagedef); // Invoke this method only if for some reason you need the "bindings" variable set in the environmentDimitar

  • Sending different types of data from applet to servlet

    Hi,
    I am writing an applet that uploads a file to a servlet. I can send the file to the servlet just fine.
    Applet Side
    1. open a URLConnection
    2. open a DataOutputStream
    3. write the file to the DataOutputStream
    Servlet Side:
    1. open a ServletInputStream from the HttpServletRequest
    2. write the bytes to a file
    This is all fine.
    However, I need to upload the filename (a String) with the file. How do I do this? I can't send the filename over as a String from the applet using the same DataOutputStream. right? This would corrupt the file that i am sending as the servlet wouldn't know that the difference between the filename and the actual contents of the file.
    Is there some property I can set in the urlconnection that gets passed to the request variable? i.e. URLConnection.setProperty ("filename", foo.txt) and then on the servlet side do this: String filename = eq.getProperty ("filename")
    Thank you for the help

    If all the additional data you want to send to server are textual or numaric data about the file (which is in the body of the request)
    Use those information as additional http headers.
    And read those header information from the servlet request object at the server side
    ex:-
    URL u = new URL("your url");
    HttpURLConnection c = (HttpURLConnection)u.openConnection();
    c.addRequestProperty("x-application-file-name","name of the file");
    c.addRequestProperty("x-application-file-size","size of the file");
    //then open the stream and write the data to the request body
    //             At server side         //
    String name = request.getHeader("x-application-file-name");
    long size= Long.parseLong(request.getHeader("x-application-file-size"));

  • Is it possible to pass data from a subVI before that subVI has finished executing?

    Basically this is my problem:
    1.  I have a subVI which contains a loop that reads data from a device for a specified amount of time.
    2.  I would like to graph this data in real time on the front panel of the main VI.
    So is there a way to pass data from inside the loop of my subVI to the graph of my main VI before the subVI has finished executing, and if so how do I do this?
    Thank you.

    How about using a global variable or a Queue?

    For example, when we press F4 we get the match code (search help) for the field ;  that window is alredy created by SAP and it shows the data for that field . Of course the application (ike any other program/application) read the data from the SAP system is being executing ;  well i need execute that match code but show (taking) the data from other SAP system;  i not refer to other MANDT in same system but other SAP system.
    The communication between SAP1 system and SAP2 system is already created from BASIS.
    My doubt is how can i  execute that standard application (search help) but 'invoke' to standard application this take data from other system ?
    I guess i can create Z search help wich call a Z Function (RFC) to get the data required from the other system ;
    or maybe enhance the standar search help to call that Z RFC ;  but standard application search help is already created and this access the data in several ways or places of code , and this has severals sub-windows and search features ; and i just need execute exactly same search help but accesing data from the other SAP system ; so my doubt is, is there some way to indicate to SAP the applications always (wherever) these applications acces the data do it but from other SAP system,
    like if we 'redirect' the Data Base to other SAP system.
    SAP1 applications are being executing  -
    >   but all data (records) are taking from SAP2
    Maybe the first suggestion is simply why do not we execute applications in SAP2 instead SAP1 , that's because the version package in SAP2 system (where we have the data) does not support some (non SAP) applications we need to use.
    Excuse the long thread.  Does somebody can help, any idea ?
    Best Regards
    Frank

    Hi Frank,
    Below are my thoughts, these are only conceptual and haven't had an opportunity to try these possibilities, also not sure if this is the right thing.
    1) Create an entry in DBCON using TCode: DBCO for the Database of system SAP2. Now in the application of SAP1 use the "SET CONNECTION" construct as the very first statement, so that consecutive SQL statements will point at the DB of SAP2.
    2) I have read somewhere that the Work Processes are connected to the Default database and i am not sure if you can change this setting, but if you can and provided you have have multiple application servers in your SAP1 landscape, then pick one of the application servers and change the settings on the WP to point at the DB of SAP2, you have the end users login to this particualr app server.
    3) If there are multiple app servers in SAP1 landscape, then choose one of the app servers and change the default database setting to point at DB of SAP2.
    Regards,
    Chen

  • Calling command prompt from inside a servelt?

    Hello all, I have an issue with calling the command prompt cmd.exe from inside a servlet to perform a .rtf to .pdf conversion for me. I believe the problem might be more Windows permissions oriented but I will see what you think? (I am at a loss on this one) I am using the standard call of -
    Process proc = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("cmd.exe /c C:\\BatchPDF.exe "+rtfFile.getAbsolutePath()+" "+pdfFile.getAbsolutePath());
    - Just calling a .rtf file and converting it to .pdf no biggie. But! oh there is always a but!
    If I start tomcat locally using the startup.bat in the tomcat /bin dir, I have no problems with my servlet launching cmd.exe and converting the files.
    However,
    If I start tomcat as a system service from the services control pannel, My servlet just hangs and will not launch cmd.exe? Tomcat is set to start as the servers Admin account when started as a service, should this not let it open the command prompt? Also, cmd.exe has full permissions to everyone! Is it possible that it might be a Catalina Policey that is preventing this? Again, I am lost and hope someone might have had this problem and fixed it before!
    Thank You in Advance,
    Lance

    It might be because of when starting as a service it
    has no "console" (just a guess). But anyway, you don't
    need the "cmd.exe /c" part - just run the .exe(meaning, the *PDF.exe)

  • Passing data from jsp/servlet to a Tuxedo Service thru VIEW

    Hi..
    We are using Tuxedo10g R3 on AIX 5.3..
    We have a Tuxedo Service running which takes values from the VIEW and converts that to upper case.. From the jsp page v r passing values to the VIEW fields which will be accepted by the service..
    For testing v checked the service with a tuxedo client and it is working fine..
    We have defined a jolt repository file for this service and finished bulkloading and coded the servlet also.. After passing the datas from the jsp, the Tuxedo service is called and it is ended.. but in the service only blank values are passed or the datas are not passed to VIEW fields.. It is not showing any error..
    The repository file for this service:
    service=NSIMPSRV
    export=true
    inbuf=VIEW
    inview=sample
    outbuf=STRING
    param=FIRSTSTR
    type=string
    access=in
    param=SECONDSTR
    type=string
    access=in
    param=THIRDSTR
    type=string
    access=in
    param=S-FIRST
    type=string
    access=out
    param=S-SECOND
    type=string
    access=out
    param=S-THIRD
    type=string
    access=out
    and the servlet code for this service:
    Result result1;
    ServletSessionPool servletsession = (ServletSessionPool) joltsession.getSessionPool("demojoltpool");
    ServletDataSet joltdataset = new ServletDataSet();
    joltdataset.setValue("FIRSTSTR","Testing");
    joltdataset.setValue("SECONDSTR","Tuxedo");
    joltdataset.setValue("THIRDSTR","Views");
    result1 = servletsession.call("NSIMPSRV", joltdataset, null);
    System.out.println("FIRSTSTR:"+result1.getValue("S-FIRST",""));
    System.out.println("SECONDSTR:"+result1.getValue("S-SECOND",""));
    System.out.println("THIRDSTR:"+result1.getValue("S-THIRD",""));
    we are not sure why the datas have not been passed.. do anyone have any idea regarding this??
    Thanks..
