JSP ADF Tree Binding in JDeveloper 10g

I am attempting to create a JSP hierarchical tree structure in JDeveloper 10g. I can successfully create the tree structure for two levels only. I need to be able to create a tree 5 or more levels deep. I have created an ADF Master Detail structure using the sample OE schema for three levels and to the best of my knowledge, I have set up the rules correctly using the Tree Binding Editor accessed by a creating a new binding under Create Binding > Input > Tree for the UIModel of the test web application I created. However, in the JSP page, I can only access the first two levels. The code I'm using is as follows:
<c:forEach var="masterRow" items="${bindings.CustomerOrdersTree.rootNodeBinding.children}">
<c:out value="${masterRow.CustomerId}"/> -
<c:out value="${masterRow.CustFirstName}"/>
<c:out value="${masterRow.CustLastName}"/><br>
<c:forEach var="ordersChildRow" items="${masterRow.children}">
<c:out value="${ordersChildRow.OrderId}"/><br>
<c:forEach var="Row2" items="${ordersChildRow.children}">
</c:forEach>
</c:forEach>
</c:forEach>
The first two levels display fine, but the third level is not displaying. What syntax should I be using to traverse further levels of the tree binding? Is it even possible? Thanks.
Note: I didn't connect any event handlers for collapsing or expanding data. I'm just trying to display everything right now.

I have the nodeExpanded attribute on the second level, set up exactly as the first level. I have a toggleSelection method on the second level (View Object) as well. I've stepped through this method and the arguments are passed correctly and the transient attribute is updated correctly. I'm calling this method through a second DataAction like treeHandler, and this works as far as calling the correct method with the correct argument values.
The breakdown occurs back on the JSP. Even though the transient attibute gets populated accurately according to the toggleSelection method, when accessing that attribute on the JSP, it returns a null value. I can access all the other attributes from the same View Object, except for the transient attribute. I'm not sure what else to try.
I'm starting to doubt this is even the best solution for a tree structure. With the way Oracle's example is set up, you would have to nest so many if-then structures in order to keep track of all the nodeExpanded attributes and which data to display or not, and I anticipate view state issues and caching problems.

    Now that I've looked at the linked article...
    That was showing you how to use a very early version of ADF Faces (a pre-release, in fact) with a very old version of JDeveloper. That document is nearly 9 years old.
    Starting with JDeveloper 10.1.3, ADF Faces is "built-in"
    And since JDeveloper 10.1.3.x, we have had both the JDeveloper 11.1.1.x and 11.1.2.x series released.
    Why are you still using 10.1.2.x?

  • Jdev10g JSP + ADF + TopLink  debug logging

    Is there some way to specify the logging level when running a JSP/Struts + ADF + TopLink application? I suppose I can set the logging on the Struts action servlet but that will not give me a log of the TopLink statements. Normally, this is set in sesssions.xml, but ADF does not seem to use that file.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    Thanks for ur suggestion. I wanted to make this work with jdeveloper 10g ,as I am also using jdev for OAF development. I cannot use jdeveloper 10g for my other development activities. So kindly let me know as how to make ADF pages work with Jdeveloper 10g.
    I have followed the steps in the turorial (URL) as given below:

    In this tutorial, the ADF page is developed with jdev 10g.

  • Any solutions from oracle  to improve Performance in Oracle Jdeveloper 10g

    Hi ,
    We are developing ADF Applications in Oracle Jdeveloper 10g , 4 developers are working . now every one M/c Ram upgraded to 4 GB
    Still my developers are getting Performance issue , Like Java Heap memory Reached . when we saw in Task Manager Memeusage reached 450,000K
    then Jdeveloper dies and hang there . we have to do this at least 4 to 5 times everyday . thats where it taking a lots of time to
    modify a single small changes .
    What our deveoper are doing they trying to commit frequently after making a important changes in application . but sometimes developer are also
    forget in between . So wee need a solution for this if Oracle fixes this issue .
    Thanks
    KP

    Hi,
    We never had that issue with 10g (but happens in 11g), what is the project's size? I assume very big, else your environment must have something fishy, 10g is really fast and lightweight.

  • [ADF] - JDev does not show 'Tree Binding Editor' when dropping a ADF Tree..

    Hi All,
    I am trying to work trough the ADF Faces/Toplink 10.1.3 tutorial: 'Build an End-to-End J2EE Application with Toplink and ADF Faces'. When I get to the point that I have to place an 'ADF Tree' object on my panel JDeveloper is supposed to come up with the Tree Binding editor, but does not.
    I reinstalled JDeveloper, killed all unnecessary Windows XP (SP2) processes (firewall and fun services) and retried. The same problem happens. I tried to create a table and this works fine. Then I installed the same zip file on Linux and the Editor shows up. Finally I installed the same zip file with a colleague - no problems.
    Does anyone have an idea what could be wrong?
    Thanks in advance, Laszlo
    PS The exception JDev throws is:

  • JBoss 4.0.0RC1/3.2.3 - JDeveloper 10g - ADF UIX

    While I realize that JDeveloper has only been tested (to one degree or another) with JBoss 3.2.X, I decided to try and publish to JBoss 4.X after failing with 3.2.X. (The results are the same for either server version).
    I have a simple master-detail page off of which I have a create action on the detail section. The primary key is a DBSequence number that goes against a table with an insert trigger defined and a sequence for that field.
    The create action opens an input form for creating a new record. In the emdedded OC4J, everything works just fine. Depsite following the developer's review paper on deploying to both standalone OC4J and JBoss, it fails completely. Errors are different, but I thought I would start with JBoss since this equates to our development environment:
    When the create button is selected to initiate the action, the input form comes up but in the place where I would expect to see a temporary sequence value in the primary key field, the value is blank and the Execute button on this form does not activate. In addition, JBoss error log (both JBoss 3.2.3 and JBoss 4.0.0RC1 (and DR4)) displays the following (just showing a fragment):

    Has anyone been at all successful using ADF-UIX from JDeveloper 10g and JBoss of any version? (Note I have followed the steps to install ADF Runtime, setvars, etc).
    Thanks
    Ray

    Yes. I have no problem with jdeveloper10g and jboss-3.2.3.
    Niether on my note with both linux, win, nor on production server with linux.
    Carefully look where do you install ADF Runtime (server defualt), and what server do you start (default is all). Simply change startup server to default or, copy jboss-3.2.3/server/default/deploy/bc4j.ear to jboss-3.2.3/server/all/deploy/

  • Problem in executing Child VO having bind parameter for ADF tree table

    In my application i need to show a ADF Tree table which is using two view objects having view links between them
    and the child VO has a bind variable.By clicking on the parent node of the parent VO attribute it showing the right result from the child VO attribute by the view link.
    I have tried to execute the child VO programmatically (In AmImpl) with the bind variable and using ViewCriteria as well
    but both the cases the child vo is not showing the proper result according to the bind variable instead of it is showing all the records on click of the parent node attribute.
    Your help will be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hello,
    In the same situation I added another relationship to the view link to set the parameter.
    Tricky moment is you have to name your parameter like :Bind_ParamName as view link is setting this kind of parameters (check it in Query tab).

  • Query on ADF Tree rendering - Jdeveloper 11g

    Hi,
    Am facing issues with Tree component rendering. Please find details below.
    Am using Jdeveloper 11g and have created data controls using plain java objects.
    Issue 1:
    I have a method getEmployees() which contains hierarchical data. Upon dragging this onto UI and on creating tree binding, i am able to see the tree.
    However i can expand only the parent node. Upon clicking on any of the child nodes (i.e Level 1 nodes), i get a blinking icon forever.
    Note that upon selecting the context menu option on root node and on selecting "Expand all", i get the complete tree in expanded format.
    Can anyone suggest as to what might be the issue with node expansion here ?
    Approach 2
    I tried creating Treemodel programatically.
    Please see snippet below:
    public TreeModel getModel() throws IntrospectionException {
    if (_model == null) {
    model = new ChildPropertyTreeModel(instance, "children")
    public boolean isContainer() {
    return ((T)getRowData()).hasChildren();
    return _model;
    By creating tree model in this way, tree node expansion issue is resolved. But i noticed that upon clicking on node for expansion,
    the getChildren() method (i.e the childProperty method) gets invoked multiple times and not once for the specifically expanded node.
    Can anyone please suggest as to why this is happening/possible solution?
    Thanks
    Navin

    Thanks for the reply. I can see the facets in the structure window and can seemingly add components there, but this is not reflected in the Design view for the page. Very strange. When the page is run, none of these components in the Accordion panel facets are displayed...
    I'm using JDeveloper version 11.1.2.1.0.

    1. Check your face-config.xml, you might be setting a binding container reference in one of the manage bean properties.
    2. Check your bean source file and ensure you have a instance var defined with the same name from the face-config.xml and also you have setter/getters for the var.
