JSP for intranet

I making an intranet as a small project as the moment using jsp pages, has anyone every done this before and can someone give me advice, do i need Tomcat installed on every computer, do i just put Tomcat on the server with the jsp pages + mysql database and then just get all the computer to look at it?

Just a server machine.
Consult your project lead about this, this obviously goes (far) beyond your (very limited) knowledge. This is also not the responsibility of the developer, but of the network/system admin.

  • Precompilation of JSPs for default web application

    Hello,
Once in a while I need to redeploy my "Default" web application. I would like to have its all JSPs precompiled, so that it was immediatly available after redeployment.
However, if I try to redeploy my web application (.war file) under, let's say, "DefaultWebApp" root context, using the administration console, with the "Precompile JSPs" option enabled, it does compile all JSPs, but ONLY those deployed under the "DefaultWebApp" root context.
However, If I access a url like "http://somehost/SomeResource.jsp" (a file that belongs to that default web application"), I can see (due to a pause) that my JSPs have not been compiled under the root context.
Is there any way to precompile JSPs for my default web applications?
    Sincerely,

    no, we can't.
Certainly noone can with such vague specifications even if they had the intent to do so.
    "the computer", which computer?
"attach to our current page", what is meant by that?
And noone should ever help you if you're planning to breach security anywhere.

  • From PHP to JSP for a search-responder.php

I have been asked to use the "search-as-you-type" solution offered up by Google at [http://code.google.com/p/search-as-you-type/|http://code.google.com/p/search-as-you-type/]. The documentation offered by Google is pretty much straight forward but of course the actual piece of code that gets the data is built in PHP and my client needs this to be used on a page serving up JSP.
I am learning JSP and moving from PHP and ASP and learning quickly but not quick enough to finish the project.
Would anyone be able and willing to help me convert the functions in the following PHP code into JSP?
Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to help me.

    Thanks for your comment Gimbal2.
I have already been thoroughly surprised at how different JSP is from PHP. I am finding quite hard to wrap my head around the whole process to be honest.
I am beginning to see that JSP and PHP work in a totally different way than each other.
I am not technically trying to translate or convert the PHP file as much as I am trying to build a file in JSP that does the same functions. The main functions of the PHP script are commented by Google and should be easily enough re-written in JSP in order to produce similar results.
Since the output needs to be in a JSON format when passed to the .js file you'd think this would be better suited as a .jsp file as well or even a JAVA Applet, Servlet or even a bean. Since the whole site is already built in JSP for a multitude of other functions it seems likely that adding on more to read data from a source file and send it back to the .JS would be straight forward, but I could be wrong. But again I am not familiar enough with JAVA or JSP (yet) to make heads or tails of this.

  • How to select the right JSP for a locale

This may be a very stupid question but someone please help me out. I've
looked at the JSP spec and the Weblogic documentation and even browsed the
newsgroup and I still can't figure this out. Perhaps I'm just being dense
    (more than likely).
What we want to do is support multiple locals from one server. My idea is
that we'd write the JSP in English then hire translation companies to
convert the JSP to French,German, Japanese, etc.(We've moved all the java
code out of the JSPs using taglibs/java beans to make this easier). What
we'd like to do is have all the languages on the server at once and based on
the local of the client select the right JSP. We'd still like the URL to
remain constant. What I can't seem to figure out is how to have one URL
(like http:/www.myserver.com/example.JSP) and have the server select the
right real JSP for the local (like example-en.JSP, example-fr.JSP, etc).
I had hoped I could find a deployment descriptor (J2EE or Weblogic specific)
directive that mapped a URL to a set of JSP based on locale but I don't see
    one.

We use a Servlet "filter" (not the Servlet 2.3 sense, but a 2.2 servlet that
    does a RequestDispatch.forward())
This filter selects the most appropriate JSP page (using a similar naming
convention to the one you indicate), then server-side forwards to it. Works
    quite well.

thinking about having a "main" jsp that all it did was check the local and
then forward the request to the right internationalized jsp. So forexample
    I'd have the three files:

    someMain-EN.jsp
    someMain-FR.jsp
The main check the local and forwards to EN for English and FRfor French.

    Kent,
Most common way of doing this is having one jsp where All the

  • How can I use 1 JSP for edit/create functionality?

    Hi All,
Does anybody have an example of using one JSP for both editing and creating an object? I am pretty sure I can handle most of it, but am not sure about how I can specify different messages from the resource bundle (i.e. modifying the screen title for the different uses, "New Campaign" vs. "Edit Campaign").
My background is in PHP and DHTML (i.e. more front-end) and I'm just starting with Java and JSF. As such, I want to be sure that I'm using appropriate patterns for my programming.
Thank you in advance for any help,
    Matt

I make the difference between modifying an existing object and a new one by the ID in the object. Each object has a unique ID in my app assigned by the database. So if the ID is 0, the user is creating a new object, not stored in the DB yet. I store the object to be edited/modified in the session before displaying the page:
    For the title:
    <h:outputText value="Edit Material" rendered="#{sessionScope.selectedMaterial.materialId != 0}"/>
    <h:outputText value="New Material" rendered="#{sessionScope.selectedMaterial.materialId == 0}"/>For the action buttons:
    <h:commandButton value="Update Material" action="#{MaterialControllerBean.updateMaterial}" rendered="#{sessionScope.selectedMaterial.materialId != 0}"/>
    <h:commandButton value="Create Material" action="#{MaterialControllerBean.createMaterial}" rendered="#{sessionScope.selectedMaterial.materialId == 0}"/>

  • Why not use Jsp for  control in MVC2 ?

    hi
i am rajendra , i am preparing interview FAQ, so please give me my Que. Ans.
    1) we are using servlet for control in MVC2 Module, then why we can not use
    Jsp for control in mvc2
    2) if we used jsp for control in mvc2 then what is disadvantage compare to if using servlet for control in mvc2
Please give me ans. as soon as..
    Thanks.

Are you preparing a FAQ for others or are you just cramming before an upcoming interview and someone gave you a set of questions? It looks more like the latter to me.
If you haven't actually written any MVC based code, you won't be able to snow the interviewer. It's better to just relax, get a good night's sleep and impress them with your willingness to learn, your fit with the team and whatever real accomplishments you have to show.
If you really want an answer to this I suggest that you try writing an MVC2 system using JSP for the controller, which is possible, and then try doing the same in a servlet, or better yet using a framework like Spring MVC or Struts to provide the servlet for you and let you concentrate on your application.

  • Setting up Load Balancing for 11i for Intranet & Internet Access

Our current environment for 11i (11.5.5) is accessed only internally (via Intranet). We need to allow outside access (via Internet) also for self-service apps (ie. HR). Oracle Support/Metalink has stated that Load Balancing (note 148155.1) is the only supported method to have multiple (Apps Servers) systems access a single database. Could I get feedback from anyone who has implemented Load Balancing for 11i? Additionally if someone has implemented this for both intranet and internet access how has your company setup? Do the secondary server(s) from the Load Balancing note reside in the DMZ? And thus the primary app server and database reside inside the firewall? Thanks....

    Hi,
We are using 6 middle tiers for internal access for intranet access and 2 middle tiers in External DMZ with only web server running for Extrenal Access over Internet for Self Service.
You Implement one Load Balancer for first 6 internal Middle Tiers with site level profiles pointing to Internal .
You implement second Load balancer for external 2 middle tiers with server level profile options for these two servers pointing to External Load balancer .

  • Custom JSP for Human Task

    Hi all,
How can I create cusstom JSP for my Human task? Where can I see the log if I modify anything in the JSP?
I am not able to see any log anywhere when I pass some messages through payload jsp.
    Regards

    Hi All,
Atleast I came to know where payload-body.jsp resides. I got all my list of values inside my JSP. Now I want to select only one value and want to send only that selected value to the process.
I've customised payload jsp and I've put radio buttons against all the values but when I select any one radio button then also, its sending all list values to the process and not the selected one.
What shall I do now? How to pass only selected value to the process?
Hope we all can make this happen. Looking forward for your support again.

  • Using Gigabit Adapter for intranet access, wireless for internet access

I have a PowerMac G5 I have been using with a built-in wireless adapter for a couple of years. I also have a Windows PC with a wireless adapter as well. Both of these access the internet over my AirportExpress connected to a cable modem.
I wanted to take advantage of the Gigabit adapter in the PowerMac for copying files directly between the computers, so today I installed a Gigabit card in the PC and connected the two through a Gigabit switch.
Unfortunately, I can't seem to get either the Mac or the PC to get valid IP addresses, let alone talk with each other.
Any idea what I need to do on the Mac to get it to use the gigabit adapter for intranet traffic? I am guessing whatever I do on the Mac I will need to also do on the PC.
    Thanks!
    Brian

What you're trying to do is called 'dual homing', and it's not really supported by OS X's automatic network configuration, though 'Internet Sharing' is close.
I'd avoid it if at all possible. Connect the computers and the cable modem to the Gigabit switch. If the switch doesn't have routing capability, you might need a router also, to provide DHCP and NAT services. This would save you a lot of grief compared to figuring out how to set up the Mac and Windows for dual-home operation.

  • How to disable Gateway for intranet, enable Gateway for extranet

We are upgrading from Plumtree 4.5 to Plumtree 5.04 (.NET), and are having issues with web cards going through the gateway space. The requirement is for intranet users to NOT use the gateway space to access content, and for extranet users to use the gateway - since they could not access the content without the gateway from outside the firewall.
In Plumtree 4.5, we created a custom file that checked to see if the user was on the intranet or extranet. Basically, if intranet then redirect to the content file - else if extranet, go through gateway.asp to open the file.
In Plumtree 5.04, the gateway setting is on the web service for the data source and it is either always gateway the content or never gateway the content. Is there a way to allow extranet users to utilize the gateway, but turn the gateway off for intranet users???? I saw a couple of posts for the AccessingFromIntranetuser info setting - if that setting is set to true, does that turn off the gatewaying? Set to false, it allows the gateway to continue?
We need to turn the gateway off for intranet users due to our content sitting on a web server farm behind a foundry/load balancing switch. With gateway turned on, all of the traffic to the content servers comes from the three web servers and not the client browsers - so all traffic is routed to one content server, overloading it, instead of being load balanced across the content server farm. We can't turn off the gateway entirely, since users have to be able to get to the content from the extranet via the Portal.
This is for the standard "World Wide Web" data source, so it is not a custom CWS (not a NT file crawler).
Thanks in advance for your help! This is a showstopper for our implementation!

    Hi Richa,
As "Agent proxy not enable" is a default rule which comes from microsoft SCOM 2007R2 or 2012 R2 you cannot disable it or override it by saying don't trigger on
the SCCM agent. If you are overriding a rule or monitor you need to first disable it and tell SCOM trigger only on these agents and add the agents one by one. As you cannot disable this so it is not possible possible.
Any ways you can try this as per the below screen shot and let me know if it works.
Add the SCCM server to a group by creating a new group from the groups in Authoring tab and make that SCCM a member of the new group.
Once done Go to rules and search for that alert. You may get many alerts of the same name but classes may represent different. Any ways select any one among them.
And right click and select the options as per the below screen shot highlighted in RED.
Once you have selected "For objects of another class" Select the group you created and click ok. Once you do it you will get the below window.
As per the below screen shot change the value to False (It will be true by default). As per the below screen shot and click ok and you are done.
