JSP & JMS
I'm new in JMS so pls excuse me if this is a silly qn.
From what I know JMS is able to push data to a subscriber but in this case my subscriber is a web-client (JSP). Is it still possible?
What I am trying to do is whenever there is any changes in the db, I want the latest info to be send to all the web client without them requesting for it. Of course if they request which will cause the page to refresh, it wouldn't be any problem. But I do not want the page to refresh.
Can JMS help me with it or does anyone has any other ideas?
How can you synchronously send from a JMS MessageListener to a web client other than by using Ajax?
I don't understand what you mean by synchronous in this case. A JMS subscription is typically an asynchronous request for messages; that does not map to JSP - other than if your JSP page just keeps polling.

Sohail KHi Sohail,
JMS is a WebLogic Server component and not something directly supported in Tuxedo. If you are using the WebLogic Tuxedo Connector tBridge to access JMS queues from Tuxedo or to forward JMS queues to Tuxedo /Q, please give us the details. Otherwise I suggest you post your question to one of the WebLogic forums.

Difference between J2SE and J2EE...
Hi all. I was wondering what the difference between J2SE and J2EE were. I mean in the code structure. Are the packages the same, like Swing, IO, things like that. I'm a bit of a beginner in Java, only been messing around with it for about 6 months now kind of in my spare time, and I know I'm in now way ready for J2EE, but it's something I think I'd like to maybe look into. I know it's for Enterprise Applications, much bigger scale than I'm used to, but fundamentally, how is it different? Different coding conventions? New packages not in J2SE? I hope what I want is coming across okay. Thanks for all the input.
JamesJ2EE defines a large number of specifications, in addition to J2SE. Examples are the Servlet, JSP, JMS, and EJB specifications. Most of those specifications are designed to have implementations running inside an Application Server. There are free implementations available such as JBoss (combined with for example Tomcat), and I think youre best bet to learn is to download one of those and go from there. Servlets and JSP are a good beginning, and then maybe move on to EJB and the rest.

Howto get information about available queues?
Any ideas how to get information about available queues on a Weblogic Server to browse them?
When you have the jndi namespace and the name of the queue it's no problem to browse that queue, but when you don't have the name of the queue is there a way to still be able to browse the queue(s)?
Any information is warmly welcomed.
Thanks,
ChrisA QueueBrowser is currently the only way to view message contents. WebLogic 9.0 (out in beta now), provides comprehensive message management both via console and JMX.
For 8.1, the following links may help get you started.

I am working with an architecture which has JSP pages talking to JMS message bean and in turn message bean talks to EJB, which persists the user data.
I am quite new to JMS. My understanding is that JMS is used for Asynchronous operations. The requirement is a user can enter some data using form and the jsp page is supposed invoke a message bean which goes through other layers to store the info in the DB and should display a user An ID from the DB. How do I implement a mechanism to get message back from the Message Bean? I am using WebLogic Appserver 6.1. Please helpFirst of all, you need to realize that your client and users are not the same thing. All your web requests come thru the webserver and into a certain application space, and your message queue is associated with that application, not each web user. So you only have one client to the message queue.
Clearly you need to identify each web user in a unique way.
Generate a sequential and unique ID for each web user and keep this is a hashtable. Remove it from the hashtable once the web user has no longer used it after a certain timeout period. If you are using Servlets then use the Session ID which is sent and received in cookies and used to link the broken session of web browsing.
Send this unique ID with your message. And then link it back up to the original web user, once you have received a response from the queue.
It does'nt sound like you need message queues though, since you want to return an immediate response to your client. However, look into Session.CLIENT_ACKNOWLEDGE which provides a synchronous receiver. I doubt if it will solve your problem as this works on the session level and not the message level. But check it out.
I dunno, your question is vague, you need to provide more info. -
Hi
I have one jsp page and i want to connect to JMS and subscribe a topic for that page.
Any suggestions please
SuuryanYes, If the Jms Provider is JTA capable then the OnMessage method can be made transactional.
Go thru XA package of jms specification.

Hi,
JDeveloper: 10.1.3.3.0.4157
Database: Oracle XE 10.2.0.1.0
Browser: Firefox 2.0.0.14
I am doing the following steps but the resulting web page displays no data. Any
help would be appreciated:
- This is all in JDeveloper...
- Create an application, 'testapp', using the template [JSP, Struts, ADF BC].
- On the Model node, create a Business Components Diagram. Rename this to
'Business Domain Diagram' and put it in the 'testapp.model.businessdomain'
package.
- Go to a databse connection, expand Tables and drag a table,
'SYSTEM_PARAMETERS' on to the diagram. The table has 2 VARCAHR2(100) columns,
one of which is the primary key. I choose 'Business Component Entity Objects'
from the 'Create From Database Object' popup.
- I then right-click on the diagram and select 'Generate/Default Data Model
Components for Diagram'.
- I put the objects in the package 'testapp.model.datamodel' and create a new
application module; 'TestModule'.
- On the testapp.model.datamodel node, I create another Business Components
Diagram; 'Data Model Diagram' and, from the same node, drag
SystemParametersView and TestModule on to this new diagram.
- I then right-click TestModule and select 'Test', and the Business Components
Browser pops up allowing me to navigate through the dozen or so rows in the
table.
Right now I know that the database connection is all good and my java objects
can see then.
- I right-click on the ViewController node and select 'Open Struts Page Flow'.
From the Components pallet, I drag a 'Data Page' icon on to the
struts-config.xml diagram and rename it 'TestPage'.
- I then double-click this icon and accept all the default settings to create
the page and open it in the page diagrammer.
- From the 'Data Connection' pallet, I expand TestModuleDataControl' and drag
SystemParametersView1 on to the page.
- From the drag options, I choose 'Forms/Read-Only Form' and a form
containing a table is created. The table is 2x2 and contains bindings for
the databae table column names and data.
Now the naughty bit...
- I click the 'Run' icon, a new tab opens up on Firefox and the page renders -
i.e. I get a 2x2 HTML Table - but there is no data in it. I can see neither
the column name labels or the contents of the row. There being no text in
the table, it has collapsed to 2 very thin rows. I think that I should see
data from one of the rows in the table and I appreciate that I can't see
any others because I have not yet added any navigation.
I would appreciate it if anyone could point at the fatal flaw in this
procedure.

I think the problem is because i don't put destination address. if it is so, the true where do I put this address?. if not where is the problem?
I hope your help.
Thanks you in advanced.Hi,
Did you create your destinations in your application server? It seems that the destinations such as topics and queues are not created. First you should create them and then start using them.
For example, in here, it says that jndi/Topic is not valid. To check if the destinations are valid or not; you can do it either through the graphical user interface or the command line console. -
JSP back-end interface to Remote server. Please help the newbie
Could someone comment on pros and cons of the JSP back-end interfaces to the remote server/programs using..
(1) Socket Interface between JSP and Remote Server. One socket for one JSP session. JSP to create and delete the socket when done.
(2) RMI between JSP and Remote program.
(3) Message Exchange using JMS between JSP and the Remote Server.
(4) Peer-to-peer JAXM message exchange. JSP/JAXM Client to Remote JAXM Server
(5) Anything else?
Thanks in advance..(1) Socket Interface between JSP and Remote Server.
One socket for one JSP session. JSP to create and
delete the socket when done.JSPs are compiled to servlets, which use the HTTP protocol. The remote server should be the servlet/JSP engine.
(2) RMI between JSP and Remote program. As soon as you say "JSP", you're assuming HTTP request/response. If you want to talk to RMI objects, I think that's best done elsewhere than a JSP. They really should be for interface only. Have your JSP talk to a central, front controller servlet and have it invoke methods that deal with RMI objects or EJBs or POJOs on the back end. That stuff doesn't belong in JSPs, IMO.
(3) Message Exchange using JMS between JSP and the Remote Server.No.
(4) Peer-to-peer JAXM message exchange. JSP/JAXM
Client to Remote JAXM ServerNo. This is crazy. JSP = HTTP, which is client/server by definition.
(5) Anything else? All these might be fine options, but they don't belong in JSPs. Those should be for Web interface, a thin client. The details of how you process (e.g., RMI vs. EJB, synchronous vs. asynchronous, etc.) are best encapsulated somewhere else besides a JSP.
HTTP is a client/server, synchronous, request/response protocol, of course. As soon as you say JSP, these assumptions are built into your system. You can do asynchronous processing, but you still have to send back a response synchronously (e.g., "Your order is being processed. Please come back.") -
Need help with JSP - Session Bean scenario
I have massive problems with a simple JSP <--> Statefull Session Bean scenario with Server Platform Edition 8.2 (build b06-fcs)
What I do is generating a Collection in session bean returning it to JSP
and giving the List back to Session Bean.
A weird exception happens when giving the List back to Session Bean
(see Exception details below)
The same code runs without any trouble on Jboss Application Server 4.0.3
Any help would be great!
Please see code below
