JSP select from javascript

I have multibox checkboxes in the JSP. I also have <html:select> box on top. The collections of this select box should be the values that user select dynamically (checkboxes checked). Can call to Javascript from the checked boxes will be used to populate the <html:select> box collections?

I am not quite I understand your question, the English is not that great. If I understand correctly you want to have a select box populated dynamically based on javascript events fired by a checkbox click?
You can do this, it sounds like a good candidate for ajax, you could call an ajax function when the checkbox is checked and get the select box values from the database and update it.

I do not think you can invoke the current jsp directly using javascript.
If the effect you are trying to achieve is to reload the page, then you could execute the servlet / code which called the current jsp.

Passing a variable from Javascript to java variable in a JSP.

Here is simple test Ive been messing around with.
How do I assign the value that was selected in the radio button to a java variable in my JSP here. Javascript being client side and JSPs being serverside makes this difficult.

Please excuse me for appearing dim but my JSP skills are rather weak.
I dynamically create rows in a table from an Iterator. If the mainTopic is news then I need a third column to appear with radio buttons. I have all this done. When a radio button is selected and the UPLOAD button is selected I need to know which of the values in the table was selected.
When I ran the test below the selected value was null. Can you help me?

How to get multiple selections from jsp page in my servlet

Hello Everyone,
I've a list that allows users to make multiple selections.

</select>I want to get the selections made by user in jsp page from my servlet, selections can be multiple too.

locList = request.getParameter("location");when I do so, I get compilation error as the request returns string type. How do I then get multiple selections made by the user.
Please let me know.

I have a JSP that receives an XML document from a JavaBean, so I can access it within the entire JSP, but I need to access it from the javascript inside the JSP... and I have no idea how i can do this.

The solution would only work on MS IE browsers, as other browsers do not support an XML DOM.
It can be done, but you would be stuck with using the Microsoft broswer. If that is acceptable, I have some example code, and a book recommendation.

In jsp how to extract the value from a name obtained from javascript?

It's few time i program in Java and i'm involved in an application that uses javascript to communicate between pages. I've the follow problem: in my jsp page i must process a string, but this string is produced from a javascript function. But in jsp, out of javascript function, how can i access to the value of that string of which i see from Javascript only its name?

My string is already in a form, but i have not the request because data transmission happens through javascript: i've tried to write
request.getParameter("StringName")
and i've not found compilation mistakes but in execution the application gives error (maybe it doesn't find the request in the caller page)

I wish I could, but there is no single sign on module available for Fusion, also, so called Fusion is yet another Word With Big Letters, behind it there is yet another OC4J ( now Oracle switched to Weblogic though) container with bunsh of Oracle apps residing in it.
Generally speaking, neither Fusion nor Oracle Apps user database does not have any single authentication module available out of the box to integrate user database.
It's a long sad story running straight from Oracle Apps 11.0.5.
That's why I've created JAAS single sign on login module and used it ever since at OC4J 10.2 and onwards at OC4J 10.3
Back to the topic: to develop Apps and test them externally using the session bean I've isted above, one need to copy certain libraries from Oracle Apps server, then add them as libraries for JDeveloper project.

How to get variable from javascript to jsp

Hi,
I put a JSP page but in one frame it has a JAVAScript running. The Javascript is a viewer that user can input bounding coordinate and see updated results. Once user input the bounding coordinate in the javascript, I would like to make
that variable available to the entire JSP, so I can submit all query (include the parameter user input in the JSP form) from jsp at a time. How to do this?

Okey here is the code. There are three frames.
1. KennyFrame.htm
2. MapFrame.htm
3. kenny.jsp
Once you run the "KennyFrame.htm" it will show a page
with two top-bottom frames. The top is
"MapFrame.htm".
The bottom is "kenny.jsp"
Once user input something on MapFrame.htm, it will do
a process in Javascript then update the "new answer".
I will need to put that "new answer" into the "What's
mapFrame Input? " Text box. Therefore, when user click

I'm in a trouble.. i was developing a program in jsp oracle. and in some cases i use java scripts.. here in the HR program module i feel a trouble.

To ensure a custom ordering, sort the files in an album and rename the files with a sequentially numbered filename.
File > Export > Version/Originals
Then use "Filename > Sequential"
or "Filename > Album name with index"

Accessing a particular pageflow method from Javascript is directly not possible unless we do some real funky coding in specifying document.myForm.action = xyz...Heres what I tried and it did not work as expected: I found another workaround that I will share with you.
1. In my jsp file when I click a button a call a JavaScript that calls the method that I want in pageflow like this: My method got invoked BUT when that method forwards the jsp, it lost the portal context. I saw my returned jsp only on the browser instead of seeing it inside the portlet on the page of a portal. I just see contents of jsp on full browser screen. I checked the url. This does make the sense. I do not see the url where I will have like test1.portal?_pageLabe=xxx&portlet details etc etc. So this bottom approach will notwork.

2. I achieved my requirement using a hidden variable inside my netui:form tag in the jsp. Say for example, I have 3 buttons and all of them should call their own action methods like create, update, delete on pageflow side. But I want these to be called through javascript say for example to do some validation. (I have diff usecase though). So I created a hidden field like ACTION_NAME. I have 3 javascript functions create(), update() etc. These javascripts are called onclick() for these buttons. In thse functions first I set unique value to this hiddent field appropriately. Then submit the form. Note that all 3 buttons now go to same common action in the JPF. The code is like this.

Inside the pageflow common method, I retriev this hidden field value and based on its value, I call one of the above 3 methods in pageflow. This works for me. There may be better solution.
3. Another usecase that I want to share and may be help others also. Most of the time very common usecase is, when we select a item in a drop bos or netui:select, we want to invoke the pageflow action. Say we have 2 dropdown boxes with States and Cities. Anytime States select box is changed, it should go back to server and get new list of Cities for that state. (We can get both states and cities and do all string tokenizer on jsp itself. But inreality as per business needs, we do have to go to server to get dynamic values. Here is the code snippet that I use and it works for all my select boxes onChange event.
This entire lines of code should do what we want.

I want to make my select tag like this:
For e.g. I have three or four select tags, if I select from the first tag, in the second some specific values must appear, if I select from the second in the third some values must appear. How can I do it using JSP?

I wrote the following that displays three select tags on an html page.
Select an item from the first tag, the second is populated, select an item from the second and the third is populated.
Below the three select tags, it shows the index values that you selected for each tag so you know if it works as you want. Left to be done is to create a java class that takes in arrays for the three tags and returns a string containing javascript shown in the example. I grouped the contents of the array so hopefully you will be able to see a pattern of how one array relates to another. You should be able to extend it as you need. (please dont tell me to use css in stead of table tags, this is only an example).

Loading a .jsp page from another .jsp page?

Hi,
I have following IF statement in "Main.jsp" page to load "ChangeJob.jsp" page. I tested and made sure that The IF condition was true(alert function executed), but ChangeJob.jsp didn't load.
Did i miss something?

Hi,
The folloing code I am writing but in this my if loop is not working propery.
the problem I am checking for this...

in the belo program I am using but always it is going in to the loop. when they are equal and when they r not eqal....
