JSP useComboBox

Starting from Emp Dept Jsp tutorial
I'm trying to create a combo box in
EmpView_Edit.jsp to modify the deptno
picking up the descr from the dept table.
I'm using this code:
RowEditor.initialize(application, session , request, response, out, "d2epackage_D2epackageModule.EmpView");
RowEditor.useComboBox("Deptno", "select Dname, Deptno from dept", "Dname", "Deptno");
according to the useComboBox help this should work fine but I get this error:
Error Message: JBO-25002: Definition dname of type Attribute not found
Any help will be wery appreciated
Thanks

You need to use the proper case, I think for dynamically created view objects , the case is upper case. You need to use the following syntax:
RowEditor.useComboBox("Deptno", "select DNAME, DEPNO from DEPT", "DNAME", "DEPTNO");

  • Dynamically create drop down box with JSP

    Hi,
    I hope this is not a repeat post, I have search the forum and a posting has not jumped out at me. I am making a jsp that dynamically constructs a custom SQL query.
    I have a number of text boxes with an id, my jsp page calls a servlet, the servlet reads the contorl id and the value to build the query - this works great. However, there's a large text input box which receives a number of extra conditions - this text box receives the input in the following format:
    searchAttributeName1,searchAttributeValue1;searchAttributeName2,searchAttributeValue2
    This is functional, however, it's a bit rubbish as the user has to know the special recognised attributeNames. What I would like to have is some sort of criteria control. This would consist of a drop down box populated from the servlet, a text input for the value and a button to add another criteria control. so the user could build up the number of query criteria. The drop down box ensures they cannot select the wrong keyword, pressing the add criteria button adds a new drop down box and text box pair to the screen.
    An example of this I recently saw was at Intel's jobs search web site https://jobs.intel.com/jobs/jobs.iccw - see that for example.
    Has anyone got any ideas on how to achieve this? I initially thought use jsp scripting (there is no restriction against this) but I need to use javascript I'm guessing as the button click triggers adding a new combo box. Another idea was to use styles and tables to hide the other drop down boxes but this seems like a real hack that I'd like to avoid. I can do with with .NET i hope java can deliver!
    Any ideas are much appreciated - I am a novice with java web development so please, any examples thoroughly explain (no need to explain populating the drop down box - there seem to be plenty of posts on this).
    Thanks for any help or ideas on this issue -

    Gina,
    Here is some sample code for using a ComboBox in a JSP from an EditCurrentRecord bean. This particular example uses a query, you can also populate combo boxes, list boxes, radio buttons and checkboxes from a static list. See the JavaDocs for the EditCurrentRecord bean.
    <jsp:useBean id="RowEditor" class="oracle.jbo.html.databeans.EditCurrentRecord" scope="request">
    <%
    RowEditor.initialize(application, session , request, response, out, "wt_bc_WT_bcModule.WalkthroughEngineSlidesView");
    RowEditor.setTargetUrl("WalkthroughEngineSlidesView_SubmitInsertForm.jsp");
    RowEditor.createNewRow();
    RowEditor.setReleaseApplicationResources(true);
    RowEditor.useComboBox("Presname","select pres_name,pres_name from wt_info","PRES_NAME","PRES_NAME");
    RowEditor.render();
    %>
    </jsp:useBean>

  • Adding an extra Field in JSP

    The problem is like this.
    I have created BC4J and JSPs which uses this BC4J. Now in the JSP i want to display a Non-Database Field (which is not in the table or field whose value has to be taken from another table). For eg: I have a ItemMaster table(Master) and AlternatItem Table(Detail). The ItemMaster Table consist of ItemCode,ItemName. AlternateItem has foreign key -ItemCode. Now in AlternateItem table i have altItemcode field which is to be displayed in the JSP(Master-detail).Along with this i want to display Item Name. This item name will come from the master table(item Master). So i have to have a non-database field called item name which will take the respective item name from the
    Master table.
    Now for this what can i do? Is it possible to create a new dummy field in BC4J component or view and somehow relate that to a query which will pick up the name from ItemMaster for the altitemcode typed(like in forms we may write :select ItemName from ItemMaster where itemCode = :altitemcode something like that).
    null

    Arun,
    Is your JSP a master-detail form (i.e. a master-record on top with multiple detail records in a grid below), or does your JSP just contain the detail records and you want to use itemname instead of itemcode?
    Depending on the answer, you could do this in a couple of different ways:
    1. In the detail JSP, use an LOV for the itemcode field that shows the itemname, but returns the itemcode value. In the JSP Insert and Edit pages, use the following code before the render() method for the EditCurrentRecord bean:
    RowEditor.useComboBox("Itemname","select itemcode,itemname from itemmaster","ITEMNAME","ITEMCODE");
    2. Another way, if you just have a JSP for the detail, is to have a View Object that includes both the master and detail entities with a join in their where clause. Note that when you do this, one of the tables will be listed as a 'reference only' table. Make sure you set the ItemMaster table as the reference one since you just want to use that for the name column.
    Option #1 is probably a better one if you want to allow updates/inserts since it allows users to choose from a set list of Item Names in a drop-down list format.

  • JSP, BC4J: EditCurrentRecord DataWebBean

    Hi,
    I am using the EditCurrentRecord DataWebBean in a JSP program (using BC4J) to create a combo box. The combo box is populated by from a look up table in the
    database.
    The value selected by the user is to be used in the where clause of a second query whose results will then be displayed. The value that is selected will also be displayed in the
    same page.
    How can I carry out the above?
    I tried to store the value of the item selected in a variable using:
    <%= variable_name = request.getAttribute(attributeName)>
    However, I got a null value.
    Thanks.

    Since you are using JDev 3.1 technology, here is how you code a poplist combobox using the EditCurrentRecord Web Bean.
    <jsp:useBean id="RowEditor" class="oracle.jbo.html.databeans.EditCurrentRecord" scope="request">
    <%
    RowEditor.initialize(application, session , request, response, out, "package1_Package1Module.srchItemsView");
    RowEditor.useComboBox("CatId", "select id, name from categories", "NAME", "ID" );
    RowEditor.render();
    %>
    </jsp:useBean>
    This source code is from the JSP page: ItemsView_insert.jsp from the JDev 3.1 BC4J Auctions sample application.
    To get the value from a specific attribute
    you can use:
    <%= row.getAttribute("AttributeName") %>
    Or in scriptlet form:
    <% String AttributeValue = row.getAttribute("AttributeName"); %>
    (Taken from BidsView_Insert.jsp of the Auctions app. Also make sure you use quotes around the attribute name.. It is also case sensitive..)
    With the JDeveloper 3.2 making poplists/HTML selects is a piece of cake with
    the new Data Tags technology.
    Here is an example pulled from the new 3.2 Online Orders JSP sample app. (search.jsp)
    It uses the DataTags RowsetIterate and ShowValue to populate data into an HTML select.
    <select name="advcatsel">
    <option value="">All Categories</option>
    <jbo:RowsetIterate datasource="cat" >
    <option value="<jbo:ShowValue datasource="cat" dataitem="Id" />">
    <jbo:ShowValue datasource="cat" dataitem="Name" /></option>
    </jbo:RowsetIterate>
    </select>
    Hope this helps..

    According to the release notes, for the JRCHelperSample to compile, you must set the target runtime for the project.
    To do this, either create a project from scratch that uses the Tomcat 5.5 target runtime, or go to the properties menu and ensure that the target runtime is set to the application server you will be using.

  • .How can I add data from one list to other in Jsp Page

    Hi..I have three multiple selection ListBox..I want to add the selected item from 2 list boxes to 3rd list box how can i do that..do i need to write javascript? If possible then suggest me some link where i can get help?
    Thanks
    Regards
    Chintan

    Yep, Javascript.
    Unless you want to post the data to the server and then rewrite the page (ie. jsp/servlets) then you are going to need to use a client side script to modify the page.
    Javascript. You need to get the onClick() event of one list box and get the item that was clicked. then you can rewrite the 3rd list box.
    If possible, try doing a search on google. Or do you want someone to hold your hand.

    Thanks in advance.HTTP is a request/response protocol. You can't do what you're suggesting without "pushing" what you type to all the other users. That's not the way HTTP works. Maybe an applet and servlet.

  • How to print new line in jsp page

    hi
    how to print new line in jsp page
    thanks

    \n - new line character is in java specific not HTML
    specific.Well, if the correct line separator sequence (by far not always \n) would be used, it does add a new line to the HTML output. Too bad that you don't want to see HTML but formatted text. The BR tag is a formatting element for the displayed text, not a line break in HTML. ;)

  • How to Get Portlet Namespace in a JSP attribute

    Hi All,
    The id of any component in a JSF application (with JSR168 portlets) takes the form
    'view'+'<portlet:namespace/>'+':'+'formname:componentidname';
    I need this id to be used for certain validations.
    Currently I am using it as below :-
    <h:intputText required="#{ ! empty param['viewns_7_CGAH47L000NAF0I04I42ND10P7_:form:login']}"/>
    Presently I have hardcoded the portlet namespace 'ns_7_CGAH47L000NAF0I04I42ND10P7_' by looking into the html source of the rendered page.
    Is there any way by which i can automatically get this portlet namespace within the param tag in the jsp.
    I know for a fact that within javascript tags, it can be used as <portlet:namespace/> as shown below :-
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function doSomething()
    buttonId= 'view' + '<portlet:namespace/>'+':'+'formName:buttonId';
    document.getElementById(buttonId).disabled = true;
    </script>
    Kindly treat this on high priority.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Darshan Shroff

    Perhaps so.
    I need to use it within param as below
    <h:inputText value="#{bean.userid}"
    required="#{!empty param['viewns_7_CGAH47L00GLRE0I0BCOUKS00I5_:form:login']}" />
    Here 'viewns_7_CGAH47L00GLRE0I0BCOUKS00I5_:form:login' is actually
    'view' + '<portlet:namespace/>'+':'+'formName:buttonId';
    I am just trying to check the presence of the client ID in the request paramameter map inorder to attain action dependent requiredness.
    Kindly tell me how i could access it within param.
    Thanks & Regards,

    You need to either adapt your code to remove the scriptlets in your JSP page,
    or you can use the following Java option to disable OJSP:

    You can add this option -Dadfvdt.disableOjspDeployment=true in your file "ide.conf" in the directory "<Middleware_Home>\jdeveloper\ide\bin"
    For your Production environment, you can have your Managed WLS ignoring the OJSP mode by adding the Java Option -Dadfvdt.disableOjspDeployment=true

    Thanks,
    Ritendra.

    I think too, that is a time machine problem.
    I have 4 volume partions (3 hard disk) at this mac. I use only the time machine as backup system. Only one. Before I install Snow Leopard I use the latest MacOS X 10.5.8. Always the newest version of MacOS.
    Perhaps I describe it: Under 10.5.8 I use the time machine backup volume at an external firewire drive, always the same. I switch off this firewire drive often. In this case (the drive isn`t connect) the icon of this partition"Pro10.4" was changed to the time machine volume icon, but the time machine does nothing at this partition.
    After the installation of 10.6 I cannot access to this "Pro10.4" volume. I get the same error message if I want to open the external drive volume of my time machine backup. There is no problems with my other two partition. Of course my old V10.5.8 is at one of this partition. If I start my mac from a other partition (time machine is off), I have no problem with all partitions.
    I change the name of "Pro10.4", but nothing is changing. The time machine protect the backup volume under V10.6. Unfortunately it choose an other partition, if it don`t find my external drive. How can I reset this state of my "Pro10.4"?
    Thanks
    Uwe

  • Error in executing a process for compilation for jsp

    We have an iView which has jsp pages in it. We deployed the par & try toaccess the iview & we get an exception. The issue is that the iview has a jsp page. At the run time, this jsp is converted into a .java file
    without problem. But EP engine is having issues compiling this java fileinto .class file.
    On the other hand this same iview works just fine on our windows installation. Only Solaris EP install is having problems. The version onwindows as well as on Solaris is EP6 SP9.
    Here is the exact version on the solaris EP:
    sap.com/SAP-JEECOR 6.40 SP9 (1000.6.40.9.0.20041119045253) 20041122132733
    sap.com/SAP-JEE 6.40 SP9 (1000.6.40.9.0.20041119045409) 20041122132741
    When I copy the .class file from windows to unix machine, the iView works fine. Here is the exception I am getting:

    I am having the same issue with another iview which has jsp page in it.
    The web dynpro iview works fine.

    Hi, seems like there's some typo in your jsp. Check the .java file listed with a java editor (like eclipse or devstudio.). Maybe you'll find the typo this way faster.
    Most often, a multiline page import hampers jsp compilation,
    e.g.
    <%@page import="java.util.List,
                    java.util.Map"%>
    needs to be
    <%@page import="java.util.List,java.util.Map"%>
