JSPs in a clustered WebLogic 8.1

We've just converted one of our environments from being a single WebLogic 8.1 instance to a clustered set-up (2 nodes).
Previously, when I updated a JSP in a web-app deployed into WebLogic it was automatically re-compiled when the JSP was reloaded in a browser.
However, what I find now is that I have to redeploy the webapp in order for the JSP change to be picked up (on either node).
Is this expected behaviour and does anyone know if there's any way to automatically deploy JSP updates across a cluster?

  • Problem in clustered weblogic 9.1 servers duplicating quartz jobs

    We have a web application expected to run quartz job to insert one row in database, but it inserted 2 rows in database. The quartz job is kicked off by a servlet that is loaded when weblogic server is started.
    I understand the qaurtz job should be clustered with jdbcjobstore, too.
    My question is:
    if clustered weblogic server is considered as one running instance and the quartz job is kicked by a java servlet that is preloaded when weblogic server started, how could a job shceduled at a specific time (example, 3am daily) will be run twice? i.e. two clustered welogic server each run the job once. Does that mean our weblogic server clustering is not configured right?
    The two clustered weblogic servers are on separate Unix machine and synchronized in time.
    Any idea for the problem? Just weblogic cluster side, not quartz side.
    thanks

    The "jsp:directive.include" tag is only valid in an well-formed XML file that specifies all the relevant namespaces. The "jsp:include" tag is used in a JSP file. I'll bet the beginning of your file shows that you don't have a valid and well-formed XML file.
    If you found that "jsp:include" worked, then that confirms you have an ordinary JSP file here. Why are you trying to use the XML form? The result of "jsp:include" in a JSP file will be exactly the same as the analogous tag in an XML file.

  • Load Balancing in Clustered Weblogic 12c

    Hi,
       Weblogic.........: 12.1.3
       OS..................: Oracle Enterprise Linux 6.3
    We have configured a Clustered Weblogic (2 virtual servers) successfully. Now we are searching for some good Load Balancing solutions. I've tested a ProxyServlet, but it didin't really solve the question, because this kind of load balancing only balances apps in the same server.
    Is it mandatory to use a third-party solution, like an Apache Httpd Server, or Big IP? In fact, i would like to know initially for some viable solutions to provide a load balancing solution to a 2-server Weblogic 12c Solution.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    It is not manadatory, and it is possible to load balance apps on different servers with the ProxyServlet. It's only that this will be running on a server from where the others need to be accesable.
    Also, it depends on what you are using this environment for. The ProxyServlet is a good solution if you want to replicate an Enterprise environment and test the load balancing with a WebLogic cluster. However, if you want to run Production applications in this environment, then consider the above suggestions: either a WebServer or a dedicated external Load Balancer.

  • How a clustered weblogic environment handles orders balanced-wise??

    Hi,
    In a 2 managed clustered weblogic environment with OSM 7.0.3 and an external load balancer to balance the incoming traffic it is noticed from the managed servers that whichever server is scanning for orders and that is understood by the server's logs:
    ####<Oct 16, 2012 2:54:33 PM EEST> <Info> <oms> <> <osm_ms01> <Timer-9> <oms-internal> <> <fab6ae59fd53672b:704b5627:13a64686216:-8000-0000000000000010> <1350388473505> <BEA-000000> <cluster.ClusteredHandlerFactory: Querying for high activity orders across the cluster>
    is the server that will serve a new order.
    Is there a way to achieve a perfect load balance? In a test case of 200 orders all orders where processes by one node and it is the one that scans for new orders.
    We configured the external load balancer to split the traffic..But nothing!! Is there an internal mechanism that gathers all orders that are send to multiple servers and executes them in the server that is currently scanning for orders ???
    Is there in any manual or Oracle Support Document/note on how is decided in a multiple-clustered environment which server will execute orders???
    Thx in advance!

    Hi Alexandros,
    Here's some general information on load balancing:
    1. With OSM order affinity, the managed server instance that receives the order (precisely, creates the OSM order) has sole ownership of the order. Other than specific circumstances, the ownership is not transferred, and thus processing of that order stays with that instance till completion.
    2. The OSM web service (createOrder API) has no load balancing mechanism internally if HTTP is used as the transport. So if you only send orders to one managed server, that instance will create and thus own all these orders. In contrast, if you use JMS as the transport, it is load-balanced by the JMS distributed destination (provided you are not sending instead to member queues of the distribution destination).
    Now, assuming you are using HTTP, you need to ensure that the Load Balancer is really round-robining on the 2 managed servers among HTTP messages of order submissions. Monitor your TCP pipes to verify.
    A problem we've seen, is if you are using SoapUI with pre-emptive authentication disabled, the SOAP request without pre-emptive authentication will be rejected, causing a re-send. Because of LB, all orders ended up in one managed server, as the reject-then-accept SOAP message sequence becomes cyclic with odd-even round-robin. So, enable pre-emptive authentication to avoid that.
    Btw, is your cartridge handling high-activity orders? If not, I have a suspicion that your pasted log message may be a red-herring.
    Cheers,
    Daniel Ho

  • Clustering weblogic portal 10.3 with apache plugin

    Hi,
    we have configured a weblogic portal 10.3 cluster with two managed servers. We are using the apache 2.2 plugin module for dispatching.
    It seems for us that the plugin is not working correctly. It dispatches all request only to one server (we have tested it from different client machines). When we kill one of the managed servers the plugin dispatches to the other server which is correct.
    In our test case we have produced a lot of load with two jmeter instances from two machines. All requests are dispachted to one managed server. After the first server runs in an out of memory, the plugin dispachted to the second managed server until this runs also in an out of memory. Therefor we have no real load balancing.
    Here is our httpd.conf configuration:

    By the way we have also tested it with the apache 2.0 plugin which also isn't working.

    Hi,
    Were do we set the listen address.
    Even we have the same problem. I have one physical that has the admin server and manager server and other server with just the manager server.
    We have the apache proxy server infront of these clustered server. Our server goes down very frequently even without activity.

  • Forwarding JSP from NSAPI to WebLogic

    Does anyone know what the correct syntax is to forward a JSP from the

  • How to connect one IIS server to multiple non clustered WebLogic servers

    I have the following installed on Win2K Servers:
    IIS 6
    BEA Weblogic 6.1 running some webservices
    BEA Weblogic 8.1 running an application
    -Both Weblogic servers are running on the same machine (different ports obviously), IIS is on a different machine on the same network.
    I have the website currently configured so that jsp files and several servlets are forwarded to the 8.1 server. So: http://mysite.com/hello.jsp or http://mysite.com/myServlet will properly forward to the 8.1 instance.
    What I want to do (and have been unable to do so thus far) is to setup IIS such that http://mysite.com/myServices will forward to the 6.1 instance.
    I’ve tried to setup the 6.1 iisforward and isapi dll files in a separate folder with their own ini file but I get an Overlapped I/O operation is in progress whenever the 6.1 iisforward.dll file is loaded. (Application Protection is set to High)
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

  • Opening a jsp from another server(Weblogic) from webdynpro running on WAS

    hi,
      I have an application deployed on weblogic and want that when i click on a link in webdynpro it should open my jsp page in a new window and i should be able to send some values to it also.
      there is one way i know of, that is like this:-
    IWDWindow newwindow = wdComponentAPI.getWindowManager().createExternalWindow("https://.../login?userid="userid"&pass="+pass,"header",false);
    newwindow.open();
    but in this case we are sending the parameters from URL like login id and password. I donot want to do that as the user can see this info on the browser. Is there any way in which i can send this user id and password to a jsp page/servlet without "url?..."
    thanks
    I mean i want it to act as a form submit or something like in servlets and jsp's

    Hi Venkat:
       There are couple of ways to achieve this:
    One of them are Pamita's approach, get details from her that how did she fixed the UserID\PassWd.
    The other best approach is use the AppIntegrator for the same, you can call any other web-applications into your own application. For AppIntg we create a system, where we can specify the UserID\PassWds too which is transparent to user.
    Hope this helps you.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    1] Remove following from server.xml
    <Context path="/SEA" docBase="SEA" debug="0"/>
    2] Paste SEA.WAR (test WAR file) into /webapps of TOMCAT
    3] Start Tomcat Server - This will create SEA folder under webapps
    4] Stop server.
    5] Add following to server.xml
    <Context path="/SEA" docBase="SEA" debug="0"/>
    6] Start Tomcat Server
    7] Access the URL.
    This will work. Somehow Tomcat does not extract war file contents which are mentioned in server.xml.
    I have Apache Tomcat 4.0.3 and faced this problem. The above solution works for it.
    Regards,
    Sandesh
    hi.
    I have put my SEA.WAR (test WAR file) into /webapps of
    TOMCAT.
    I checked the server.xml and put:
         <Context path="/SEA" docBase="SEA" debug="0"/>
    I restarted TOMCAT and tried to execute the file:
         http://localhost:8080/SEA/index.jsp
    But I got error message:
    Apache Tomcat/4.0.3 - HTTP Status 404 -
    /SEA/index.jsp
    What was happenning?
    Anyone can help me?
    Thank you.

  • How to switch to a different JSP / EL implementation with WebLogic 10g?

    Hi everyone,
    we have a web application (JSP + servlets), that runs fine on Tomcat 5.5. We are porting it to WebLogic 10g3 - we've solved all of the issues except one. Some of the EL expressions are processes correctly in Tomcat, but it fails in WebLogic.
    For example we have a custom tag (component inherited from a SimpleTag), that renders a combobox. The component has "textExpression" attribute, that it evaluated like
    String text = (String) pageContext.getExpressionEvaluator().evaluate(textExpr, String.class, pageContext.getVariableResolver(), null);
    but if the expression has two parts - i.e. something like "{...} {...}" - the parse fails, for example with the following exception:
    javax.servlet.jsp.el.ELParseException: Error occured while trying to parse '${(option.partner.jmeno eq null && option.partner.prijmeni eq null && option.partner.nazevSpolecnostiFoPo ne null) ? option.partner.nazevSpolecnostiFoPo : option.partner.jmeno } ${(option.partner.jmeno eq null && option.partner.prijmeni eq null && option.partner.nazevSpolecnostiFoPo ne null) ? '' : option.partner.prijmeni}'
    weblogic.jsp.internal.jsp.el.ExpressionEvaluatorImpl.parseEL(ExpressionEvaluatorImpl.java:171)
    weblogic.jsp.internal.jsp.el.ExpressionEvaluatorImpl.parseExpression(ExpressionEvaluatorImpl.java:134)
    weblogic.jsp.internal.jsp.el.ExpressionEvaluatorImpl.evaluate(ExpressionEvaluatorImpl.java:125)
    Is it possible to switch the JSP / EL engine to Jasper? I'd expect some property pointing to ExpressionEvaluator implementation / parameter in the deployment descriptor but I haven't found anything like that yet.
    thanks
    Tomas

    Anyway I've achieved some progress with the Jasper - I've found that when precompiled using the JspC compiler from Jasper package, the resulting servlets are inherited from org.apache.jasper.runtime.HttpJspBase and thus should probably use the "proper" JSP EL implementation. But I still can't use these servlets from Weblogic, as I receive java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Could not initialize class org.apache.jasper.runtime.PageContextImpl.

  • Outbound Connection Pool Entry Missing for DBAdapter in Clustered Weblogic Congfiguration

    Hi ,
    When I created an outbound connection pool entry in DBAdapter through weblogic console in a clustered environment ( 1-Admin server and 2-managed servers) and updated DB adapter, I indentified that connection entry is updated in only in plan.xml of one managed server and for other managed server it is not updated. Due to this we are unable to access Datasources for some requests from application.
    As a work around if we update plan.xml file of other managed server manually with required connection entry and update DB Adapter we are able to find the connection entry for both the managed servers.
    Apart from work around is there any other solution for this issue so that I can add a DB adapter connection entry through console which will update both plan.xml files.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Venkat

    I can suggest you to keep the Plan.xml file in shared drive that is accessible from all the server nodes,this will reduce the manual work.
