JTable with headers extending JDialog

I am creating a class file extending JDialog. I have populated the JTable on the form and want to include headers on the table. The dialog form opens and the table is visible and populated but with no headers. Has anyone had success with headers on JTables when creating a JDialog object?
I have other tables created with headers so I wondered if the problem was with JDialog?

inorder to make headers visible you need to add scroll pane to table,
either by:
JScrollPane scrollPane = JTable.createScrollPaneForTable(table);
or:
scrollPane = new JScrollPane(table);
unless there's no scroller, you can't see headers.

JTable with ImageIcons does not react to even handling

I have a populated JTable with ONLY ImageIcons in it. I need to generate event responses on mouseClicks. However, any event listener I associate with this, nothing seems to be happening.
(Somehow, I'm guess the ImageIcons - which are rendered on a JLabel, are/is the source of all troubles!!)

Update row with more data - JTable with Abstracttablemodel

Hello!
I got some problems with my program, im using jtable with abstracttablemodel.
First I include content into the jtable by pressing ”New Content”, then it will pop up a dialog which I fill with information as you can see in the picture.

But when its done, I want to borrow it and update that row with more information as you can see if its loaned, if it is their shall be a checkbox, name and phone there. I don’t really know how to do this. Suppose I should do a similar metodh as when I’m adding and removing content. The question is how do I do that? I’ve been looking at some tips and hints on google. It seems to me that should use “fireTableRowsUpdated” but not really sure if its right and how to. When I’m borrowing the specific row I guess I need to check which row is clicked before borrowing and then fill in the information and update the table.The borrow button will also pop up a dialog with 3 fields to fill. Here is the code I wrote for adding and removing. I’ve tried with the update but its not right which I’m going to use when borrowing objects from the database. Please help!

Add JTable Row Headers At The End Of The Rows(At Right)?

hi all
i got this example for adding JTable Row Headers,but it adds the headers at the left(beginning of the row)
and i want to add the headers at the end of the row(at right),any ideas how to do that?

JTable with JComboBox/JSpinner problem

The following code has a JTable with 2 columns.The lst column has JComboBoxes, the 2nd column has JSpinners.I want to set the spinner range of values based on the selection of JComboBox. The JComboBox selections are "small" and "large". For "small" the spinner should range from 0..49, for "large" from 50..99. When a selection is made, MyTable.itemStateChanged() is called, which in turn calls SpinnerEditor.setValueRange(). This sets an array with the desired values and then sets the model with this array. However, it sets the range not only for the row in which the combo box was clicked, but all rows.
So in MyTable.setCellComponents(), there is this:

However, it sets the range not only for the row in which the combo box was clicked, but all rows. Yes, because a single editor is used by the column.
One solution is to create two editors, then you override the getCellEditor(...) method to return the appropriated editor. Something like:

Almost invisible JTable column headers

I'm writing an applet which contains a JTable within a JScrollPane. For a while the column headings (text) were visible, but recently the column headings have become very small in height. There is barely enough there so that the mouse can be used to sort, or resize or reorder the columns, but the text can not be seen. It doesn't seem to be related to the number of rows in the table. The getColumnName() method is being called and returning the correct strings, but they don't show up on the screen. As I said, this was working ok until recently, and I don't know what I changed that might have caused it.

I am trying to have a JTable with variable height header. I give the headers a renderer that parses the text into a vector (breaking it into lines), and then returns a JList populated with the vector.
ex: if the text is "Line1\nLine2", the header will have double height, with two lines:
Line1
Line2
The problem is the same that you encountered: Swing only looks at the header of the 1st column to determine the height of all! So if there are headers with more lines than the 1st one, they get chopped!
Does anybody know a workaround?

BUG: Extending JDialog error in design view

I extended JDialog to create a custom Dialog, then when I extend the CustomDialog to create a Dialog in Jdeveloper Design mode it actualy creates the popup dialog instead of the design mode for it (ie it actually renders the final popup as a seperate popup, which would be a really cool feature because you can actually use the popup to test it, but it means you can't edit it with the gui designer)

So you go to design mode for TestDialog and it pops up the dialog.........(you may need to build first).....

The above code does reproduce the error. I reduced it to that code to make sure that it wasn't any of my code doing it and when I made the 2 classes above and go to design mode for the second one it pops up the dialog. You can cut and paste the code as is. The implementation is irrelevant, its Inheritance of a class that extends JDialog that is causing the problem.
You need to compile the classes, close them, then reopen the second one in design view for the popup to happen.

You can try something on the below lines. Set your custom renderer for the tableheader.

JTable without headers - column resizing

I have a simple problem: a JTable with 3 columns, and NO HEADERS.
I want the middle column ONLY to be resized when the WINDOW is resized. The other two columns should remain of fixed size.
Is there a simple answer?

What I cannot work out is how to ensure that only the middle column is resized when the window is resized.
You refer to a component listener. Which componenent should I attach the listener to?
How can I make two columns of fixed size and one of variable size, and only when the window is resized?

Creating a JTable with resizeable columns and Horizontal Scrollbar

I would like to create a JTable with about 24 columns in it. The problem is, my ViewPort in my JScrollPane is about 3-400pixels wide, and the JTable tries to cram itself into the ViewPort. This makes the columns too tiny to read. I'd like it to do something a little more sensible, like use the PreferredSize of the columns. Can anyone point me in the right direction to keep JTable from creating scrunched up little columns, so that it creates columns that are at least partially readable? Thanks.
BTW, I suppose I could set NO_AUTO_RESIZE but I would rather not do that. I like being able to resize columns. Basically what I want to do is control the JTable's width and not worry about the ViewPort's width.

AbstractTableModel's method setValueAt(Object aValue, int row, int column)
is not the way to fill values into a table. It is the way the table returns the changed values to you after the user has entered something. This is a very common misconception, probably because the method names are so confusing.
The table model uses getValueAt (int row , int column)
to fill in its rows and columns.
If you extend AbstractTableModel to make this method fill in the correct values from you data array. then, when you wish to update the whole table, you can
1) Put new values in the data array
2) fireTableValuesChanged
this will cause the table model to call getValueAt for every row and column.

From a technical point of view, the checkbox works as expected. However, I have problems with the graphical layout of the checkbox in the header column:
1) The checkbox seems to be bigger than the height of the header column. It overlays the border lines of the table. When I increase the preferred size of the header row, the checkbox also increases its size and still overlays the table border lines.
2) The checkbox has a diffferent background shading than the other columns in the header.
Any help for solving these two layout problems are greatly appreciated.

As originally said, the checkbox in the header column overlays the table borders and also has a different background shading than the other header columns.

Extend JDialog - stupid question

I'm trying to make my own custom JDialog so I did this:

}then, in my main frame, I did this:
myJDialog dialog = new JDialog(this);
button_something when actionPerformed {
     dialog.setVisible(true);
}new JDialog opens up but it's in native Java look and feel so I figured that I'm doing something wrong.
Couldn't find any tutorials on extending JDialog so I'm asking what am I doing wrong?

how would I call Xdialog if I'm not extending it? How would Java know that that variable is holding jDialog component?The JDialog is the least part of the code. Myself I usually have a class that creates a JPanel (note that it doesn't extend a JPanel). Then in the code that needs a dialog, I instantiate the class, extract the JPanel create a simple JDialog, and place the JPanel into the JDialog. Simple as that.
