Just got an error when updating Itunes.. can anyone advise on a solution?
The updater has been popping up for a while but i'v been fobbing it off. Finally updated today. After updating I went onto Itunes and an error came up, it said:
'Itunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing. Please reinstall Itunes'.
I reinstalled Itunes, then reset the computer but the problem still remains. Can anyone offer any useful advice on how to overcome this prodigious annoyance.
Thanks
Hello,
Yes I used the apple software updater and it also installed quicktime or realplayer (i always confuse the two).
I followed that link, clicked repair, went through the process etc etc.. it told me Itunes has been successfully installed on your computer
I clicked the Itunes icon on my desktop and got the same error message as before?
The only thing that I can think of is that when I used Spotify, Itunes went a bit weird, and since then it has not been operating as normal. I could be clutching at straws, but that's all I can put it down to.
Can you offer any other advice?
Thanks.

Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1
If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash
Install the App from the App Store.
Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always. -
Error when updating iTunes (Windows 7)
This morning, I got another notice to update iTunes on a Win 7 machine. The download seemed to go smoothly, but twice the installation failed with little information about why it failed. The error box suggested I try download only and install manually.
Okay, I've tried that. Again, the download went well, but then a Windows Explorer box opened with not one, but FOUR files on display.
AppleApplicationSupport (type: Windows Installer Package), 32,312 kb
AppleMobileDeviceSupport (type: Windows Installer Package), 10.060 kb
iTunes (type: Windows Installer Package), 68,852 kb
SetupAdmin (type: application), 76 kb
I don't know where to go from this point, but I threw caution to the wind and double-clicked iTunes Windows Installer Package. It went to work until I got another error message: "Error writing to file: C:\Config.Msi\1279ed.rbf. Verify that you have access to that directory."
I ran the repair thing on the Apple Software Updater and tried again, but with the same results. "Errors occurred ... . If the problem persists, choose Tools > Download Only and try installing manually."
Huh? I hesitate to hit the Retry button. My experience tells me that just brings up the same error. Can someone help me decipher this mumbo-jumbo, please. For one thing, I can see nothing to guide me for "installing manually." That list of four items: Where do I begin? Do I have to install each package, one at at time? Why is it so complicated?I don't know where to go from this point, but I threw caution to the wind and double-clicked iTunes Windows Installer Package. It went to work until I got another error message: "Error writing to file: C:\Config.Msi\1279ed.rbf. Verify that you have access to that directory."
Are you running Kaspersky security software on that PC? I tend to identify that message with Kaspersky interfering with the install.
If there is Kaspersky on board, we should try some general-principles getting-past-security-software-interference troubleshooting.
Download and save a fresh copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (32-bit installer file) or iTunes64Setup.exe (64-bit installer file) to your Hard drive. (Don't run the install on line, and don't start the install just yet.)
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Restart the PC. After the PC restarts do not open any applications. Disconnect from your network and/or the internet. Now switch off all your security software (firewall, antivirus, antispyware).
Now start the install by doubleclicking the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) file you downloaded earlier.
Reenable all security software prior to reconnecting to your network and/or the internet.
Any better luck with the security software shut down? -

Error when updating itunes. now no itunes access
I get the following error when I open itunes now:
Runtime error! R6034 Please contact the application's support team for more information.
I assume that means Apple. I tried everything mentioned on the support community and nothing helps. Suggestions?! I REALLY don't want to lose my music. Well, I know I won't lose it but I would love to get more !I'm having the same problem. Looks like iTunes Match is broken. It works on my iPhone, but not on either of my PCs. I'm not sure when the problem started but I noticed it this evening. Can't have been more than a day or 2 since I last updated Match and it worked fine. I should also add that iTunes itself is acting wonky, Sync doesn't work right, etc. I'm sure it's all related and is a glitch in the Apple servers. Happens every time there's a major release of iTunes. I do wish they'd spend more time testing before they release a buggy upgrade, but alas, it never seems to be done that way.

I tried to re-install itunes without success, now it gives a runtime error visual c++ runtime library , says to re-install itunes with error 7 (windows error 1114)
Please help me! thanks !I had the same problem. Use the uninstall feature to delete all of the Apple related programs that came with the recent download. There should be 3. Check the dates they were installed to be sure.
DO NOT DELETE any folders manually unless you want to lose playlists, etc.
Reboot your computer then reinstall. It worked like a charm for me! -

1607 Error when updating ITunes
Hello,
I have an older version of ITunes (4.6). I got a new IPod for christmas, so I am trying to install the new version of ITunes by using the CD-ROM that came with it. I keep receiving the 1607 error message. I went to the section of the Apple website for troubleshooting installing new versions of ITunes on Windows XP, found the section of suggestions for the 1607 error, and tried all of those so called resolutions. None of them worked. So I can't use my new Ipod! HELP!!!!!!
Dell latitude d600 Windows XPhi ketner!
(sigh) the links for the 1607 got screwed up royally in the 22 December revision of that KB doc:
Troubleshooting iTunes, iPod Software, and QuickTime installation on Windows
... you'll notice that (as of 28 December while i'm writing this), the scenario two and scenario three links are pointing at the same MS KB document. i believe scenario 3 is supposed to be pointing at the standard InstallShield advice on the 1607:
Error -1607: Unable to Install InstallShield Scripting Run Time
... so give those suggestions a try too. when that class of 1607s persist, the InstallShield tips and pointers can also be helpful:

Anyone got any idea what is going on here and what i should do?
After reading all these posts, one by one did not resolve my problem until I got the very end. Regardless of what step would resolve your problem, these are the steps I would recomment to everyone for a what seems to be a safe and fool-proof upgrade to iTunes 10.5.
1. Stand alone upgrade to the latest Quicktime version
2. Go to control panel and "change" then select repair to the following applications in the order specified by the post on Oct 27. (Notice I skipped Quicktime because it had been upgrade manually, and Bonjour did not have a "repair" option)
iTunes; Apple Software Update: Mobile Device Support; Apple Applications Support
Some of these applications may not appear if they do not apply to your configuration (no iPhone, or no iPad, or other apple devices).
Once all updated, I did not need to restart nor launch any applications, I simply went straight into the 10.5 upgrade, and where it normally got stuck, this time the installation continued for a while longer until it completed successfully.
Great work everyone who contributed! Thank you very much! -

Got error when updating to ios 5.1
got an error when updating to 5.1 and now phone will not reset. stuck on black screenwith apple on it. i have tried replugging phone into comp but it will not come up in Itunes. I am using a PC by the way.
Possible, but not 100% sealproof. -1 can happen in a variety of situations, not always jailbroken. It's a baseband error and while the risk of getting that error is higher on a non-factory unlocked device, it can still happen.
Even if OP was jailbroken and removed the jailbreak, it's quite difficult, if not impossible to tell the device has been jailbroken before if restored as brand new.
Take the device to an Apple Store for evaluation.
