Just switched from Samsung Epic to iPhone 4s. Contacts were filed by first name, which I prefer. But on the iPhone it's by last name. Is there a way to change that?

What I found: Go into SETTINGS - Click onto "MAIL,CONTACTS, CALENDARS" then scroll down to CONTACTS and you will see SORT ORDER and DISPLAY ORDER you can change it to first, last or last, first..

Make sure that the backup file with the bookmarks has the correct file extension: .html for a HTML backup and .json for a JSON backup. 
You can check that via the right-click context menu of that file and open the Properties. 
If you are not sure about the file type then you can open the file in Firefox via "File > Open File" 
A JSON backup will show as one long text line without line breaks and a HTML backup as a web page with clickable links. 
A JSON backup starts with: <nowiki>{"title":"","id":1,"dateAdded":</nowiki> 
An HTML backup starts with: <nowiki><!DOCTYPE NETSCAPE-Bookmark-file-1></nowiki>

I suppose I should have prefaced my question with the concern that I've read a number of other posts from people who have had a similar issue and when they tried to follow the directions, they ran into a multitude of other problems. I have the same problem, my laptop was stolen with my girlfriend's icloud activated on. If the Laptop is switched on with access to the internet it will connect to icloud. How can I find out the IP's that are connected to my icloud. That lack of information who is connected to your icloud is not qool . Sorry for my english.

If an app does not behave as expected, try closing the app completely and reboot the iPad. It appears as though you have the original iPad. It helps if you list your iPad model and the iOS that you are running.
Tap the home button once. Then tap the home button twice and the recents tray will appear at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button twice.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

IMac G5 with OSX 10.5.8 does not recognize my Western Digital external drive containing the majority of my music library. Is there any way to access that drive and recover the music stored there?

I have an iMac G5 with OSX 10.5.8 that does not recognize my Western Digital external drive. I had no problems with this until I upgraded to 10.5. Most of my music library is stored on the external drive. Is there any way to access it to recover the music?

How is it connected? Have you tried different port? How about logging in as a different user then trying to mount the drive.

When importing from an old Lightroom 2 catalog into Lightroom 4 (also from Windows to Mac) I seem to have lost all the development history of my photos. Is there any way to retain that?

I finally managed to get through the process of moving files and catalog from Lightroom 2.7 on a PC to Lightroom 4 on my Mac. I think I did it all correctly and all my file and previews and some tagging seems to be there. Two things are lost
1 - Most importantly, the development history on my files. I can see the edited versions in the previews, but as soon as I click on it, I can see that I lose all the changes I had made before. When I look at Development history, it just says "Imported on...." I'd love to get this back. That is a ton of processing work just lost because I switched computers.
2 - The collection names seem to have come over, but they are all empty. This is also a lot of work lost, though not as important as #1
Is there any recourse?

Why does switching VoiceOver on jump to the top of a web page? Is there a way to stop that and just stay where you were?

Since i started using my new bluetooth, all notifications are playing through the bluetooth not the speaker. Is there a way to change that?

Since I bought my Motorola bluetooth, all notifications while connected are played through the headset and not the phone's speaker. This wasn't a problem on my old bluetooth set.
Is there a way to change this where when I'm connected, the notifications play through the speaker?

You can turn iMessage off on your iPhone. That's relatively easy. Since iMessage is an Apple product/service, I have no idea how a Samsung phone will deal with an incoming one. For that answer you should probably contact Samsung support.

You can turn on BT tethering but it disables Wifi so if I have to do that step every time I get in my car, I just as well manually connect on BT every time.
