K7t266 Pro2a onboard sound problems

Hi,
Everything works really well on my PC except the sound.  I cannot hear anything, there is simply no sound.  My motherboard, the k7t266 Pro2a has an onboard soundcard and I can't seem to get it to work  :(
I am running Windows XP, by the way.
I've installed the DirectSound AC'97 Audio drivers, checked the volume, checked to see if the speakers were plugged into the right hole, and I checked to see if the jumpers were correctly fastened.  No luck :( Oh yea and I checked to see if it was enabled in the bios. Still doesn't work...
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, thanks so much!

yea i have and they work just fine, apparently my computer detects that it's there, and i can run wimamp, and I can't hear the sounds.

  • K7T266 PRO2-RU and Problem with a FEW DISPLAY ADAPTERS ...

    Hello ,
I was using my mainboard with 32 MB Creative Riva TNT2 Ultra until creative's fan was damaged . I tried 16 Creative TNT2 m64 display adapter of a friend of me , but it didn't work with K7T266 PRO2-RU. Many sounds are coming from mainboard while D-LED shows Testing RTC (or boot attemp, I'm not sure about that) (Same symptoms with "no graphic adapter" - I tried again after unplugged the display adapter - )
At the beginning I was thinking that the 16 MB creative graph adap. was broken . So , today I bought a new graphic adapter 128 MB of Creative 3d Blaster5 Radeon 9200SE . When I plugged it into mainboard , I saw the same problems with 16 MB Creative TNT2 m64 . After that , I found another 32 MB Creative TNT2 Ultra from my friend and it worked with my mainboard FINE .
    - I tried all of the old bioses of MSI K7T266 PRO2-RU
    - I tried to start the computer with no any other devices (such as HDD , sound card , tv card etc. ) . Only display adapter was plugged in the mainboard , but it didn't work . System hanged up everytime I tried .
    - I made some bios adjustments which are suggested at this forum ....
But none of these worked ....  ?(
What is the problem ? Why only 32 MB creative TNT2 Ultra is working with my mainboard , but 16 MB Creative TNT2 M64 and 128 MB Creative 3DBlaster5 Radeon 9200SE are not  while all of them are working FINE with an old PII mainboard . (tvout+DVI)  I'm looking forward to hear from you . , Help me please .
Ps : Can new beta bios solve that problem ?
    XP pro
    2100+ 0.18m XP CPU with coolermaster CP5
    40 GB Seagate Barracuda IV
    300 watt Codegen Power Supply
2*256 MB Kingston DDR 2100 Memory
( No floppy , no souncard , no tv card etc , no any other devices like cdrom , dvdrom , cdrw etc.)

    That's it!
I provided a few PSU's from my friends and tried 420 watt thermaltake and 520 watt VANTEC Stealth 520A PSU  ...
Same situation happened and 128 MB Creative ATI Radeon video card didn't work   ...
The problem can not be about PSU ...
I tried two different brand of fx 5200  (128 MB ) video card on my system (with 300 watt codegen PSU) . Everything is ok  .
And I also tried the RADEON card on my friend's computer which is running with 230 watt Elan Vital PSU . It worked perfectly ...
So what can I think about that situation?
The Answer is : There is something about MSI mainboard ... When I wanted to contact with support center via e-mail , I got an automated e-mail answer which is not completely able to solve any of my problems.
Besides , I saw the problems between brand new Nforce mainboard of MSI and ATI video cards ...
SO , if we get all of these informations together , we can say "THERE IS SOMETHING ABOUT MSI" ...
The solution is not buying expensive PSUs...
That's really bullshit , I can buy a brand new mainboard instead of an expensive PSU.
Finally , I bought an Asus mainboard , everthing is going ok now!
I'll not buy products of MSI anymore because they didn't do anything to solve my problem . Goodbye MSIIIIII ....................................... ........

  • K7T266 Pro2 RU: Boot problem, wrong CMOS setting

    Hi All,
I have had the Pro2 RU MB for a year now with very few problems. Over Christmas I was cleaning up my computer and was going to do a format :C and reload windows. When I went to start the computer after cleaning it up (remove all cards, clean up dust) I got 4 red leds on d-led. Tried everything (different memory, reset bios, unplug everything except video, ect) always 4 reds. Bought a duron 1.3 GHz put it in started the computer it start to post, went through fastrack raid screen and then I got "CMOS settings wrong" "press F1 to setup", "F2 load defaults" ...... screen I go F1 into setup make ajustments and everytime I save and I get 4 red leds on reboot. If I go F2 load defaults and continue it will try and boot, my hard drives are in a raid 0 array and it will check floppy, ide 0, cdrom by default so it can't boot. If I reboot at this point it will go 4 red leds. I can't flash the bios which is ver 3.2 because the bios protection is enabled and I can't change any settings. I could use some help this one has my stumped.
I have tried 3 different power supplies, and that is not the problem.

I have reset the cmos with pc unplugged...yes.
I have read the FAQ at this site, I have used the search feature at this forum I have googled my problem searched a few other sites and I am stuck. I have been building computers and troubleshooting problems for 3 years now. If it was a new board I would RMA it at my wholesaler.
It seems like there is a problem with the cmos chip because it will not accept any changes to the settings. As soon as you save the changes in the cmos the computer reboots and I get 4 red leds in d-led.
    Cheers Rugger

  • MSI K9N SLI V2 MS-7390 onboard sound problem

    Hi,
My PC has stopped outputing sound. It was working fine yesterday morning, but when I got home from work 8 hours later it no longer seemed to want to play any sound. I know my taste in music is a bit naff but it not playing anything is a bit extreme!
I've checked the volume, reinstalled the sound drivers, checked the speakers and the cable by hooking them up to an iPod and I'm still not getting any sound. The onboard sound is enabled on the BIOS. Device Manager is showing no conflicts or problems, as far as it's concerend it's working. I've had a look at the motherboard and there's nothing I can see looks like it's shorted. I've even emptied my HDD and done a clean install of Windows XP again.
I'm really at a loss to see why this has happened and what to do to fix it. I guess buying a sound card would be one way of getting round it but I'm still puzzled about why it's doing this in the first place.
My motherboard is an MSI K9N SLI V2 MS-7390 and the on board audio is Realtek.

No, your bad choice of music shouldn't be the problem. That is if not a neighbour broke in to your house to stop the darn noise. Do you know if someone has changed anything?
Does the rest of the system work fine? I'm thinking there was a problem with return from hibernation or something.
What source do you have? CD for example.

  • MSI RS480M2-IL onboard sound problem

    Hello,
i bought a computer with the MSI RS480M2-IL motherboard and i'm having some problems with the onboard sound - i hear small interferences. Updated drivers and noise still continued. Took it to the store and they said they didn't detect anything wrong with the onboard soundcard or motherboard configuration. I ruled out electrical interferences because when i'm not listening to anything or playing, even with the sound at maximum, you don't hear the crackles. Also tried it with different sound system and they were still there. I have a friend that told me that the onboard sound is never clear. I have uploaded some files where you can hear the interferences. Do you think this is normal for an onboard card and if i want better, i should buy a soundcard or do you think they better exchange the motherboard? I read in some forums that the onboard sound of this motherboard crackles - i think the sound heard below can qualify as that and that i should buy a better soundcard to play my games, right? Thanks for your attention!
    Recorded from music cd
Recorded inside a game, no music, sfx volume high
    Configuration:
    CPU - AMD ATHLON 64 3000+ SK939 BOX
    MBOARD - MSI RS480M2-IL SK939
    POWER - ATX 500W
    MEMORY - 2 X 512 DDR400 KINGSTON
    HDD - SEAGATE 120 GB 7200
    GRAPHIC - ASUS X700 EAX700/TD 256Mb PCI-E
Edit: These are the drivers and versions of the audio (driver version wasn't updated yet in this pic)

Yes.....I saw that too.  In my opinion, it an error in the description.  The Realtek site has all the info on that a3.75 set.  On your prior post you asked about install procedure.  You're correct.  Uninstall the old set using Add/Remove programs in Control Panel and run Setup on the new package to install.
FYI.....I'm on broadband connection and can EMail large files.  If that new set fails, I could zip and Email you that old A3.67 set.  However, it's over 14MB in size (I checked), so you need an EMail account that can accept that large an attachment.  Let me know by Private Message in the Forum with EMail address.  I'll be in and out the rest of the day, so I may not get a chance to send until later.
I'm also wondering if MSI has a server with legacy drivers that the moderators could check and provide link.  Download would be much easier solution on everyone with this problem.
Let's see if the newest drivers work first.
    Danno
Edit:  Read this thread and it should make you feel better.
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=80424.0
As you can see, I also encountered (along with others) the problem with the A3.72 set that's on your CD.  At least it's fixable.  Hang in there.

  • K7T266 PRO2-RU stability problems

In the last few months I've been experiencing general stability issues with my K7T266 PRO2-RU.  In attempts to try and resolve these issues I've flashed the BIOS, updated drivers, reinstalled Windows numerous times, checked for leaking capacitors and reduced the machine to nothing more than the essential hardware (video card, memory, processor).
In troubleshooting I've discovered very little, except that none of these things have been very successful and some odd things that are outlined below.
    1. The machine still randomly reboots, and programs crash inexplicably without error.
    2. WindowsXP invariably hangs during installation to the RAID controller (RAID 0).  I've tried various driver versions but all reproduce a similar result.  I suspected there may be a problem with the drives, but that doesn't appear to be the case as it does this regardless of the drives used - 2 Maxtor DiamondMax Plus D740X'(s).  It also does this when using 2 Western Digital WD300BB'(s) and new cables, so I know it is NOT my drives.  Windows will install to one drive but is as previously stated - unstable.
    3.  I've tested the machine using another video card, in addition to running the video card and the memory in my other box, of which both cards are good and run rock solid under stress testing.
Any ideas or suggestions are welcome.
    Here's the config:
    MSI K7T266 PRO2-RU (Bios Rev. 3.7)
    Athlon 1800+ (Not OC'd)
    256MB Corsair XMS PC2400 (x2)
    Asus GeForce 6800
    Maxtor DiamondMax Plus D740X (x2)
    Creative SB Audigy Platinum

    Thanks for the suggestion,
While I was waiting to see if anyone would quickly reply I read through previous posts to the forum and found a link to memtest86.  I've already tested one module to isolate bank 0 as known good and it passed.  2nd attempt I put both modules in, 1 in bank 0 and the other in bank 2.  I began receiving errors only after 5 min.  I never suspected this would be the problem as I tested the memory in another machine and previously with an obviously inferior memory test app and it passed.  No big deal though, at least now I've discovered the problem.
I'm now doing additional testing to the suspect module.
(Errors in Bank 2 - Next trying it in Bank 0 which I know worked, just to rule out a possibly defective bank)
    Update:
Errors all over the place in Bank 0,1, and 2 - Looks like the module took the dirt nap.  Time to use that lifetime warranty.
    Thanks again.

  • Nforce 4 platinum SLI onboard sound problems

I have recently bought the nforce 4 Platinum SLI motherboard with onboard sound blaster live 24bit, but when i try to fully utilise it in games like Halo, the sound laggs, only partially plays the sound effects. The sound is fine in all other things like when playing music, it is just when i turn on the hardware acceleration in the game audio options. I've checked for conflicts in device manager and re-installed the latest drivers. I read about the PSU problem with the -5V rail, but my PSU is 24 pin and has the correct rail, so it isn't that.
It's almost like the sound card is not getting enough system resources to be able to fully process the sounds.
It's driving me nuts, can anyone help with any suggestions.
    Cheers, Jonny

I tried lowering the acceleration as well but it didn't affect it. When i took it down to basic acceleration, i was then unable to turn on the hardware accelaration inside the game which is what causes the sound to lagg.

  • KT4V-L - onboard sound problems, any suggestions what could cause this

Board and system (winXP and xp2400+) set up fine.  The only problem is with the sound. Every now and then i get a horrible screeching sound out of the speakers (a bit like feedback).
This is only intermittant, last night it ran for 4.5 hours and only 'screeched' once for about 5 seconds.  It doesn't seem to be the speaker (it happens on different ones) or the speaker connections (i wiggle them around but can't reproduce the noise).
At one point they were bad so i closed down and whilst it shut down the noises actually increased.
Are there known problems with the onboard AC97 sound.
Can the PC-Cillin cause sound problems?  Any suggestions greatly appreciated as the answer i got is to try a soundcard  - which i hope will fix it.
    thanks
    Doc

    thanks Asaf
to be honest i can't recall - i have ahd a mic attached but don't think it was everytime i had the noise
in any event - surely it still shouldn't make a noise like that anyway
just got a cheap (£4) Soundblaster 128 so will try that
    cheers

  • KT4-Ultra-Onboard sound problems

I bought my KT4 Ultra in September and I've heard some talk about being defective. Just to start off by saying that for it may be my problem.... Anyways, I'm having problems with my onboard sound. When I play music, my sound kinda stutters. To best describe it, my sound doesnt skip or anything, but every now and then i hear an extra "drum beat" in my music where there shouldn't be. Please post if you know anyhing about it. Thanks.

    Thanks Vatoloco
I know my problem doesnt have anything to do with ripping or the software. All I knowis that the problem is with either my motherboard or something involved indirectly...
Anyways, to help you out, thry using different software and see if that's the problem. If not, try unplugging all your IDE cables and audio cable in ur case and reconnecting for you might have a bad connection. Lastly, check out your cd drive.

  • Damn onboard sound problems

    hiya
i got given a replacement neo platinum to replace my first one that the raid died on.
now i have no sound out of the box.
ive checked the front jumpers, reinstalled the audio drivers, tried switching the onbouard
sound off and on again between restarts...nothing
i get no sound in any of my os's,through speakers or headphones.
    im stumped.can anyone help me?

    Usual suspects first.....
board jumper set to front or back?
    onboard sound enabled in bios?
drivers loaded, recognized and enabled in XP hardware?
that's the three things that jump to mind..........reset bios and enable sound again if everything else checks out

  • Kt3 Ultra 2, with onboard sound problems

I'm just getting my new motherboard set up, and when i install the drivers for the onboard sound, I'm only getting the sound effect, equalizer and general tabs in the option screens, according to the manual I'm supposed to have speaker configuration and test tabs as well, without this, I cant use the rear connections for 5.1 audio, which makes my surround system pointless.
I have tried the new sound drivers from this site, but when I try to run it, the installer comes up with "alcxwdm.inf not found", and stops dead. The rest of my system is Athlon XP2000+, win 98, 40Gb Seagate drive, Creative DVD drive, and Dxr3 DVd decoder card.

Damn, so I'll have to put my SBLive 1024 card in, which will run ok, and have only 4 channels, which is actually inferior to the onboard sound (supposedly having 6 channels), of which I can only get 2, Great!
All of which doesnt tell me why the updated drivers wont install at all, and this is happening just when I want to use windows apps, havent tried dvd yet, no point if I cant get the rear plugs to output, until I put sblive in... DOH!

  • Onboard sound problems

Well, for some reason, after installing the Cmedia drivers off of MSI's website and installing them, my 5.1 sound is buggy. I'll be playing games (have only experienced it in games, although I'm not sure if it does it with normal music playing) and all of the sudden, the sound will just  out for no reason.
It will work from the get go, but after a little bit of workin, it screws up.
    Any ideas?

I think that you may need to un-install the C-Media and the onboard sound drivers first, reboot system, skip hardware detection and re-install C-Media + onboard sound drivers through the installation wizard of the program.

  • K7T266 Pro2 lock up problems...frustrated...

I have an MSI K7T266 Pro2 with latest bios and 1 512mb PC2100 ram - everything has been running fine until I started messing with bios settings.  A friend setup bios and I "thought" that the DDR was running at 133mhz, my FSB was at 133mhz (266mhz).  Since then, I can get my CPU to run at it's default speed - 1.733ghz and 266 FSB, but I can only get my RAM to run at 200mhz or 266mhz.  I'm having random freezes/lock ups in Windows XP Pro - only when I'm doing something.  Left my puter on all night last night and when I woke up, the puter did not freeze.  It doesn't make any difference if I play music in the background while messing around on the net, etc.  Any thoughts?  Is it possible to run my 2100+ (palomino) at default speed/266mhz FSB and my RAM at 133mhz?  Any help is greating appreciated...I'm going crazy!

    Hello.
Your CPU is a 133MHZ (266DDR) FSB CPU and you ram is also 133MHZ(266DDR).
So all you need to do is set the FSB/MEMORY clock to 133MHZ.
Then change the CPU multiplier to AUTO.

  • KT4V onboard sound problems (alot)

    hello,
just recieved a KT4V MSI motherboard today, installed it ok, turned on onbaord sound, downloaded latest onboard drivers and configured it for 4 speakers and a microphone socket. I open half life up and only the front 2 speakers work, i exit HL and look at the settings and its changed it back to 2 channels (although it still says 4 channel it changes rear to line in) Operation Flashpoint also only runs on 2 speakers, i know both these games support surround sound as i used to have a SBlive5.1 which worked ok with them.
Also when playing music the rear speakers work but sound low quality.
Please please help me with this
    thank you
    tim

I have the same problem with my KT4VL. The front 2 speakers are loud as normal, but the rear speakers make almost no noise. I have a 4.1 ch speaker system and use the AC97 onboard in 4 ch mode(with the software set to convert the Line in port to rear). The subwoofer is fine no matter what, just the rear. When the MOBO is set to 2 ch stereo, sound comes from all speakers but the surround is lost as it just splites the stereo. I do not have a clue as to solve the problem and want to very much.
This is my thread on the subject so far:  http://www.msi.com.tw/program/service/forum/index.php?threadid=19536&boardid=13&styleid=1&sid=bf5e069916a52f2877c4dc62f0685329&page=1#8

I got a really confusing problem, maybe one of you could help me with...
My brother has s754 k8n neo plat motherboard and he has always used the onbard sound controller. Yeasterday we formatted his computer, and did a fresh XP installation. Since then i cant get the sound to work properly, only if i put the headphones in the "blue" input instead of the green. The sound is very low but works there.....I installed the latest Realtek Audio driver from the MSI page. According to windows the sound works perfect, no driver issues reported or anything...The mp3's start playin but theres NO sound....
Could it be driver issue? Updated to the lates BIOS also btw.
    Appreciate all help, thx...
