Kdebase should have qt as a dependency

Upgrading kdebase from KDE 3.5.8 to 3.5.9 just caused some of my widget styles to disappear (Plastik in particular, the one I was using). Upgrading QT as well fixed everything, which suggests to me that there should be a dependency here.
~Felix.

kdebase depends on kdelibs which in turn depends on qt3 so the dependencies are correct. Doing full system upgrades 'pacman -Syu' is recommended instead of updating individual packages.

  • Is there a limit to the number of airport extremes and airport expresses one should have in a network?

    Is there a practical limit to the number of airport extreme base stations and airport express units one should have in a home network?

    Then, I had an older Airport extreme that I was thinking about connecting wirelessly in my living room and connecting the DirectV DVR to it by ethernet cable.
    Is this older AirPort Extreme the "round" version or the "square" shaped version? The "round" version will not do what you want.
    Whenever you extend an AirPort using wireless only, you will experience a loss of bandwidth (speed) on the entire network. That loss might be anywhere from 15-50% depending on how far the extending AirPort device is located from the "main" AirPort.
    Even with an excellent signal, if you have 3 AirPorts extending the signal, you will lose 40-50% of the bandwidth on the network. The other AirPorts that are being used just for music are also slowing things down.
    He thought there might be problems with using that third airport with the DVR and wondered if I should just use an Airport express there.
    It would make no difference whether you used an AirPort Extreme....assuming it was the "square" version or a new AirPort Express as far as performance is concerned.
    As to whether you connect the DVR to another AirPort, it might be OK, but you will not know until you try.
    If you find that things slow down noticeably, you will need to look for ways to connect the AirPorts together using a wired Ethernet connection. This is always the preferred connection method since there is no bandwidth loss when you do this.
    Since downloading video places a high demand on a wireless network, you might want to look for a way to connect the DVR back to your "main" router directly using a wired Ethernet connection as well.

  • How can I specify that a border should have a certain length on a side?

    how to customize a border so that length can be specified?
    (I know that you can use createMatteBorder() to specify which sides should have a border. But this is different - how do you specify the length on a side).
    for example, here is one side: --- is the side and ==== is the border
    ===========
    how do I implement it?
    I am stumped.
    thanks,
    Anil

    BorderFactory does dispense some static instances depending on the type of
    border being created. But you'll need to subclass MatteBorder to customize it;
    I don't think you'll be able to do it via BorderFactory. You can either override
    the paintBorder method to not paint the entire top part of the border or paint
    over it; the latter approach is taken below:
    import java.awt.*;
    import javax.swing.border.MatteBorder;
    import javax.swing.*;
    public class PartiallyPaintedBorder extends MatteBorder {
         private final static int MARGIN = 15;
         public PartiallyPaintedBorder( int top, int left, int bottom, int right, Icon tileIcon ) {
              super( top, left, bottom, right, tileIcon );
         * Paints the matte border.
        public void paintBorder(Component c, Graphics g, int x, int y, int width, int height) {
             super.paintBorder( c, g, x, y, width, height );
            Insets insets = getBorderInsets(c);
            Color oldColor = g.getColor();
            g.translate(x, y);
            color = c.getBackground();
            if ( color == null )
                 color = Color.gray;
            // Erase part of top matte edge
            g.setColor(color);
            g.fillRect( width / 2, 0, width, insets.top);
            g.translate(-x, -y);
            g.setColor(oldColor);
         // Example use on a JPanel containing a JButton.
         public static void main( String[] args ) {
              JPanel p = new JPanel();
              p.setBorder( new PartiallyPaintedBorder( MARGIN, MARGIN, MARGIN, MARGIN, UIManager.getIcon( "FileView.computerIcon" ) ) );
              p.add( new javax.swing.JButton( "Press me" ) );
              JFrame f = new JFrame( "Tester" );
              f.setDefaultCloseOperation( JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE );
              f.getContentPane().add( p );
              f.pack();
              f.setVisible( true );

  • Which power adapter should have come with my 15" Macbook?

    I got a 15" Macbook Pro at Christmas this year and I just looked at my power adapter and saw that it's a 60W, although I thought it should have been an 85W one. My computer does charge when I'm using (and rather quickly too, I might add), but I was just kind of wanting some clarification on this. I'm looking to buy a second power adapter to have one at my house and one at my boyfriend's house. He currently is using a 13" black Macbook (circa 2006, I believe), but is looking to get a 15" Macbook Pro in the future.
    Anyway, I'm just wondering what power adapter I need to purchase, and check that I was indeed given the correct charger to begin with. I don't know how to find my model number, but it was the cheapest of the 15" models at the time. Thanks for your help!

    Eh, not quite: You can use any Intel MB with any Magsafe adapter, but the use of it will vary.
    I use my 17" mid-2010 i7 MBP with a 60W adapter from time to time if it's the one in a convenient place, I've even used it with the 45W only Airline adapter. Note the MacBook's power system is quite smart. If the system is on and active and it needs to restrict the power drawn, charging the battery will be the first to go, and then external power will be supplemented by battery power. So with a 15" or 17" MBP: on an 85W adapter you can play a 3D game and charge at the same time. Whee! Charge time is lessened if you draw less power and minimized if you power off the system and only use the available power to recharge. On a 60W it's possible to draw enough power using the system that charging will take an impractical amount of time. Power the system off and it'll recharge almost as fast as the 85W. With a 45W or airline adapter it won't recharge at all, and if the system is pretty busy, power will be draining from the battery too, albeit at a slower rate than if you were on battery only.
    Think of the MacBook's power system as a water tank with an inlet hose and a drain hose. Inlet hoses come in three sizes, if your inlet is larger than your outlet you can fill the tank (recharge) at different rates depending on the drain (Air, 13", 15", 17" and how busy). The only exception where the analogy breaks down is if your drain is not the smallest (Air) and you use the smallest inlet (45W adapter), you can't fill the tank even if the drain is closed (MB is off).
    If you want the other gory technical detail, only the 85W Apple adapter can switch up the 16v to 18v to allow for a faster recharge on the 15" and 17" MBP.
    Probably more than you wanted to know...
    Bottom Line: If you want to be able to charge any MagSafe MacBook, get an 85W adapter, Apple charges the same for the 60W as the 85W, and the 85W is only a little larger these days. (3rd party Magsafe adapters, not so much, the 60W's are usually a few bucks less.) 85W is what you'll find at the training tables in an Apple store BTW.
    Don't bother with the $50 airline adapter if you don't own an Air. There are several 3rd party Auto/Air MagSafe adapters that will charge a 13" -17" MBP in the air or on the road.

    Hello.
    Please make sure you have the correct dependency versions e.g. cxf-rt-frontend-jaxws version 3.0.2. You can find a list of all dependencies for the Bing Ads Java
    SDK here:http://mvnrepository.com/artifact/com.microsoft.bingads/microsoft.bingads/9.3.2-beta
    If you create a Maven project e.g. in Eclipse, the dependencies are included automatically.

  • IMac should have a battery

    iMac should have a little battery inside to prevent damages from power interruptions.

    LaSalamandra wrote:
    I think that a little economic battery should save the life of iMac hard disk.
    There is much more to it than just adding a battery.
    To begin with, it has to be able to supply enough power to run the iMac. Depending in the model that could be anywhere from about 50 to 300 watts. It also has to be large enough to supply that power long enough for the iMac to finish whatever it is doing, write any changes that requires back to the hard disk, close all files, & do an orderly shutdown.
    But since an iMac isn't designed to run on the low voltage batteries supply like a laptop is, you either have to include a few dozen of them wired in series to get the required voltage or include a voltage converter. Obviously, there is no room for dozens of batteries in any iMac so you have to include a voltage converter, one large enough to supply the 50 to 300 watts the iMac needs to run.
    You also have to include a built-in charger & all the safety mechanisms required to keep the battery from exploding while it is being charged. You can't use sealed lead-acid batteries like in conventional UPS's because they are way too heavy & bulky to supply the needed power in a small enough package, so you have to use expensive lithium chemistry batteries. That means you have to include a temperature & charging current monitoring system & use battery packs with the extra contacts that requires, just like with laptop batteries.
    Do you begin to see why everybody is telling you this isn't practical? The battery & associated circuitry would be neither little nor cheap. It would increase the cost, bulk, & weight of an iMac to levels most users would find unacceptable; particularly since compact, inexpensive UPS's are readily available & provide far longer run times than anything that could be built into an iMac.

  • What the Macbook Pro should have

    Hi guys, 2 weeks ago I purchased my first Apple laptop - the Macbook Pro 13", before that (and still sometimes) I used PC. Even though the design is great, there are things that could be done to make it perfect. Here is my list, please tell me what you think about it.
    1 - A delete button one the keyboard, I noticed that the Macbook Pro doesn't have one before purchasing it, but after using if for 2 weeks noticed how important it is.
    2 - The 2 USB ports are quite inconvenient because they are next to each other, it would be more convenient if they are from both sides instead, like Macbook Air. I have devises that are a bit wider than the other ones, so when one of these is plugged in, the other USB port is unusable. Speaking of which USB 2.0 isn't good! The ThunderBolt port is great but there are no devises yet that can take any advantage of it, so in the meantime USB 3.0 would be great.
    3 - HDMI port - most of the laptops already have it, I don't see why none of the Macbooks has it. If I want to connect my Macbook Pro to my TV, I have to spend extra money on MiniDisplay to HDMI adaptor (it's not like Apple products are any cheep, so spending extra money on things that should have been there on first place is NOT good).
    4 - Numerical Keyboard - I know there is no room for it, but a button like Caps Lock could be used, when it's pressed certain buttons from the keyboard could act only as numerical keyboard and when pressed again, the keyboard could be back to normal.
    5 - The screen resolution of the 13" Macbook Pro should have been like the 13" Macbook Air.
    6 - The CD Drive is unnecessary, nobody uses it nowadays. Nobody listens to music from a CD and nobody installs any software from a CD, everyone uses the Internet for these things, the little part of people who are still using CDs, DVDs, etc. have other devises such as: DVD or Blue-ray players, HiFi systems and Desktops. The room that is taken by the Optical Disk could be used for a bigger battery.
    7 - Better cooling system - when watching a move the laptop gets so hot that I literally can't put it on my lap (lol what a paradox, a laptop that cannot be put on a lap), also I would love to be able to close the lid and leave the laptop works (it is great when downloading big files or scanning software is used), but with that cooling system I'm afraid that it would overheat.
    8 - Last but not least - The screen bezel. It's too big, Macbooks should be bezelless, it would make them much better looking.

    DS had some great points, I'll chime in as well.
    1.) I agree, it'd be handy to have. It definitely took some getting use to but once you do and modify your keyboard workflow it becomes second nature.
    2.) I ended up investing a USB extension cable, Apple makes them I believe. At least they use to, I've had mine for years. While the cable dangling off the side of the machine is a bit of an annoyance, it's a necessity if I want to double up my AirCard (USB) with a thumb drive. USB 2.0 is still the "standard" and as such it's going to be the de facto peripheral port. Apple is historically slow about adopting non-standard peripheral interfaces unless they pioneer or champion it. It wouldn't surprise me if Apple still doesn't offer USB 3.0 this time next year. Thunderbolt/Light Peak is brand new tech, and as such it's going to take a while to have peripherals that support it. There are NAS devices that have it, they were just announced this week.
    Here's a link regarding its deployment - http://www.tuaw.com/2011/04/13/intel-distributing-thunderbolt-developer-kits-thi s-quarter-more/
    3.) I agree that HDMI would be nice but with Thunderbolt supporting HDMI, I really don't see Apple adding another video out port. There's no room left on the I/O strip on the 13" MBP for it. Apple use to include adapters (when the MBP first came out) but they've since stopped doing that and gouge with adapters. Thankfully there are numerous 3rd party offerings at a fraction of the price.
    4.) I agree, I forget which "redesign" of the keyboard layout got rid of the Num Lock key. I know my 15" MBP (Santa Rosa) has it. I currently use my iPhone as my numerical keyboard, there's a great little app that pairs the phone to your computer via Bluetooth. It works great as an alternative.
    5.) Marketing 101. By introducing it via a future revision this encourages current owners to want to upgrade/switch and thus move more units and tout it as a "feature upgrade." I was pretty shocked the i5/i7 update to the MBP 13" did not introduce the 1440 resolution.
    6.) This is where you'll get disagreement. Rule #1 of proper Internet forum posting, don't use words like: everyone, everyone, most, all, nobody, no one, etc. Especially without evidence to back it up. While you don't use it, people do. I use mine daily, my co-workers use their drives daily. That's 11 people right there, which is 11 more than "nobody."
    7.) Apple has never called their computer a "laptop." They've always referred to is as a portable computer. Matter of fact, they strongly discourage the use of their portable computers on your lap due to how the heat dissipation process works through the top case. So the problem(s) you're experiencing are to be expected, you're using the machine in a method that is not recommended by the manufacturer. They even discuss that in the "Getting Started" booklet that came with your machine.

    I have upgraded Apple Aperture from version 2 to version 3 and I'm having a problem with the "Highlights and Shadows" adjustment. According to the user's manual, I should have access to an advanced disclosure triangle which would allow me to adjust mid contrast, colour, radius, high tonal width and low tonal width.
    If anyone has any suggestions as to how to access this advanced section, I'd be most grateful.

    Hi David-
    The advanced adjustments in the Highlights & Shadows tool were combined into the "Mid Contrast" slider in Aperture 3.3 and later. If you have any images in your library that were processed in a version of Aperture before 3.3, there will be an Upgrade button in the Highlights & Shadows tool in the upper right, and the controls you asked about under the Advanced section. Clicking the Upgrade button will re-render the photo using the new version of Highlights & Shadows, and the Advanced section will be replaced with the new Mid Contrast slider. With the new version from 3.3 you probably don't need the Advanced slider, but if you want to use the older version you can download it from this page:

    iPhone should have....
    • Copy/cut and paste would be useful- This includes text selection, time after time I have wanted forward and email however I only wanted to send a single line or a paragraph.
    • More text editing options
    • Multiple address receipients for SMS (what are apple thinking, poor effort on this.)
    • Send VCF cards from contacts via text as well as Bluetooth sending.
    In addition to the above
    • Whilst look at a contact entry, you should be able to go to the next contact with having to go back to the list.
    • Ability to change system font and size.
    In Europe the mobile industry is far more mature and users look for innovation without the loss of basic funtionality. The iPhone has lost this basic functions, SMS messaging is important in Europe.
    Please add what you think it should have below

    My macbook pro is failing to read a new sd card with movies recorded on it. Any ideas please? A previously used SD card has downloaded without problems. I have tried using a card reader as well as downloading from the video camera itself, neither works.
    I can view the latest recordings on the video camera so know they are there somewhere. I am now thinking I should have formatted or initialised the new card before using it but didn't think of that at the time. Obviously don't want to do this now as it will wipe the movies.

Should have I let it to get discharged in order to fully charge it ? Somebody told me I should have let it discharged and then to fully charge, but I didn't do it, my iphone is working very well, the battery too but I'm worried if the battery lifespan is gonna get worsen soon if I didn't abide by the rules and procedures of battery charging.
    I had problems on my previous iPhone 4s, it died because I didn't replaced the battery with a new one because my battery never worked well and I never knew it , the battery used to overheat my iPhone and it caused to damage my processor completely to death. Who does the replacement of the iphone processor?  I need help how to maintain with the iphone battery. And also let me know if I did something wrong that I should get worried about or not ?!?!

    Apple does not fix the iPhone 4S, they replace the phone. If not covered by warranty, called an out of warranty exchange. Cost is US $199. Make an appointment at any Apple store.
    Be aware, Apple does not sell iPhone parts, thus there is no legitimate source for genuine parts.

  • In SAP BW landscape we should have separate servers for DEV, QA and PROD

    Hi all,
    In SAP BW system landscape we should have separate servers for DEV, QA and PROD.
    whether one server is enough for DEV and we can use virtual servers to QA & PROD?
    Regards,
    chandu

    Hi chandu,
    In my previous Organisation we got exactly the same landscape for BW as you described.BCS(BAYER COPSCIENCE LTD) operates a BW System Landscape with one centralized  Global Development System and three regional Quality Assurance and Production Systems located in Europe, Asia Pacific and Americas. This Landscape is to ensure consistent data models to be available in all regional systems as well as to minimize development efforts and make use of respective synergies.
    This is perfectly working  for BCS ,and I think, this is the most approriate way of handling of resources.

  • Open PO items that should have been already delivered

    Hi,
    is there a transaction where you can see the open PO items that should have been delivered already up to a certain date? If a PO has several scheduling lines and also several confirmations were entered for the scheduling lines only quantities should be displayed were the delivery date is due (based on the selection date/usually the current date) on no GR was made so far.
    I tried already ME2N with selection parameter WE101 but this shows all open items (in past and future).
    And a problem I have in general is, that I dont see a direct link between the scheduling lines and the confirmations.
    Cheers

    - You got charged twice. On a computer go to iTunes Store>View Account>Purchase History and see what you got charged for
    - Maybe the difference is due to tax. Again the Purchase History will list the total price including tax for each purchase.
