Keep iphone asleep when notifications arrive?

This is more of a feature request if it doesn't already exist.
As you know, while the iphone is asleep, it wakes temporarily to display the notifications then goes back to sleep. The problem with this is, I'm to the point where I get tons of notifications. I usually don't check them immediately. With a lot of notifications coming in and the screen constantly waking, the battery drain increases dramatically.
Is there any way to keep the screen asleep while notifications arrive? For example: when a notification arrives, I'd like my iphone to beep and vibrate to let me know. Since I don't get to my phone in time to see the message anyway, why not let the screen stay blank? When I'm ready to view the notifications, I can manually wake my iphone.
Is this currently possible to do? If not, I would suggest it as a battery saving feature.
Thanks.

You can turn off notifications, and that's the only way. The beep/vibrate probably takes more battery than the screen being on, to be honest.

Or you can see if iOS 5 fixes what you want, rumored to be released in ~1-2 weeks.

  • IPhone 5 when SMS arrives double sound notification one screen notification

    Hi all,
Today I have faced a sms notification problem and couldn't solved yet.
When somebody sends sms to my phone first I hear sms sound notification but nothing appears on the screen, after 1 seconds I hear second sms sound notification and sms notificatin appears on the screen. The first sound notification is redundant. I have checked the notification settings, all of them are default settings..
    Thanks in advance..

That's odd. Try a reset and see of the results change. Press the Sleep/Wake button and Home button at the same time for ten seconds until the Apple logo appears. Note: No data will be lost.

  • I want to set up new iPhone correctly when it arrives! Please advise

I own a 4s. My husband's iPhone arrives in 2 days. We share a Mac book and have a family iPad. I have read all of the posts about the benefits of sharing an apple ID for purchases and apps but that it is best to use different IDs for the iCloud. Our Mac book, family iPad and my iPhone all share the same apple ID.
    Here is my first question:
When his phone arrives will it prompt me to set up a brand new apple ID and if so do we create a new one or use mine and create a new one later for iCloud?
    Second question:
We want to share our calendar and do have a google calendars account. Once I set up our shared gmail account on his phone, will the calendar show up in the calendar app? Is it okay that our gmail log in is the same as my apple ID but will be different than his iCloud apple ID?
Thanks in advance for any help!!

I HIGHLY suggest He create a new AppleID for himself.
He can do it now then simply use the new AppleID when he gets the iPhone.
Best suggsetion its to have a computer login for him wtih is own iTunes and then he will have his own contacts, calendars and all other data.
He can do that now & set up iCloud then when he gets the phone, he can simply enter his AppleID and its done.

  • Keep iPhone locked when lost/stolen?

I know I can set an auto lock with 4 digit code. I wonder what good will that do if someone has the phone (lost/stolen). Can't they plug it into iTunes and do a "restore"? Or somehow crack the code and steal all my info.
Is there a way to lock the firmware so it can't be boot/restored without a PW? Just like my MacBook.
I want to know a good way to make it unusable/unsell-able to anyone. Thanks!

Someone would need to get lucky with guessing your 4 digit passcode so a good idea to not use something like 0000 or 1111 for your passcode.
Someone can connect a iPhone to iTunes that is not their iPhone and restore the iPhone as a new iPhone, but they won't be able to access any of your data unless they get lucky in guessing your passcode or spend a great deal of time going through every possible combination.
The only thing you can do is use a passcode and if your iPhone is lost or stolen, call AT&T immediately to report it. If you know your iPhone was stolen, you should also report this to the police.

  • Iphone 6 plus Notification in landscpe mode when phone is locked condition

I have iphone 6 plus iphone. When I keep phone in landscpe mode in locked condition; I want to see notification in landscpae mode for application like email, phone, messege etc. which I have enabled in notofication centre.
I observed all notification in lock mode comes in portrait orintation. Is this possible.

For me, it was as simple as that lock button, which I'd not noticed before, but yes, a hard restart usually fixes most issues.  I did a restart first, so it spooked me when even that didn't work; which is why I posted.
I've also downloaded 8.2 and feel that it has fixed a few bugs I'd noticed.  love the phone too.  My case finally came, it's the Griffin Reveal; picked it up from that big online retailer.
The Plus has had some tough press for some reason, but I love it!

  • How can I keep iPhone 5 mute and viberated for all the sounds and notifications with the mute button on?

If turn on the mute button, my iphone 5 is mute. But I can not get informed if the alarm or timer ends. iPhone 5 is mute and doesn't viberate. I want it mute but viberate under the mute button.
The Timer cann't viberate with the mute button on. I want it viberates without sound especially when I study in the Liberaby. I need to practice my pace with the Timer. I don't know whether it is because of my mistaken operation or because of the fact that the iPhone 5 can not make it.
I think it should work like this, the mute button can mute all the sounds and notifications and at the same time, the phone can viberate  to keep me informed when a new email comes or there is a twett or the timer ends with viberation.

  • TS1702 I have installed "Runkeeper" on my iPhone 5. when it starts, it says "connect to iTunes to use push notifications". When I push  "OK" the notification returns immediately and locks the phone. Help

I have installed "Runkeeper" on my iPhone 5. when it opens "connect to itunes to use push notifications" appears. when "OK" is pressed the notification returns immediately and keeps reappearing. the phone at this point is locked and only a reboot will close the app.

I think software on the unit has likely been damaged and needs to be reinstalled, so restore as new will be needed.

I don't understand why this keeps happening and it's been going on for a wile now. I have tried over and over again to get this iPhone to work but nothig is happening. I've even gone on the website for support (apple.com/support) but cannot find anything that will help me with this situation. Can someone please help me find a solution to this problem? What computer operating system is involved in the Premiere Elements 11 and 13 issues? Same computer or different ones? Are you installing from purchased download installation files or from purchased installation disc? Does Premiere Elements 11 work completely on this computer whereas 13 will not?
Let us go through the typical drill so as to take nothing for granted.
    1. Does the problem exist with or without the antivirus and firewall(s) disabled? Are you working with an individual home computer or in a
    school or company network?
    2. Are you running the program as Administrator and is there any "domain" account involved?
    3. Is your video card/graphics card up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the card?
    4. Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on the computer with Premiere Elements?
Let us start by ruling in or out any of the above, and then we can decide what next.
Any questions or need clarification, please do not hesitate to ask.
    Thank you.

  • If I preorder an iPhone 5 will it arrive at my house on the 21st or is that when it'll ship? I would like to have it the day it comes out so if it would be faster to order it online and then pick it up from the apple store, let me know! Thanks

My experience is with the iPhone 4S and the "new" iPad, both of which I ordered early on the opening pre-order day. In both cases the wording from Apple during the media event was "pre-orders will start on ABC date for delivery on XYZ date" which was also the same day they were to go on sale in stores.  In both cases, the UPS truck rolled up earlier than usual XYZ date as promised to hand me my new iPhone/iPad. In both cases there were instances of confusion due to some pre-order confirmations stating incorrectly "SCHEDULED SHIPPING DATE: XYZ".  In both cases that caused much fear, panick, and trepidation that fed upon itself as it permeated a widely scattered forum linked community of "adults" that seem to collectively revert to a state of childish impatience and ultimately child-like glee as they obsessively refresh their dedicated tracking browser window; become convinced that there is no hope of escaping the dread delayed shippment, and then finally receive their new toy exactly when they were supposed to.  Not that I personally would ever succumb to that of course.  Er uhm ... it's just what I've seen you know .. nothing I can really relate to.

  • Keeping Contacts & Apps when syncing iPhone with new computer

I just got a new netbook with Windows 7 Starter. I would like to transition from using my current work laptop to the netbook as the manager of my iPhone. When I try to sync my iPhone with the new computer it says that my iPhone's library is linked to another computer. It appears that all of my contacts and apps will be erased if I sync these items on the netbook.
Does anyone know a way that I can keep this information without erasing? I already erased my music content from the iPhone. I foresee a real problem since this netbook doesn't have Outlook and all my contact information is in that format. I also don't want to have my apps all wiped out. Thanks for the help.

iTunes content can be synced or manually managed with an iTunes library on a single computer, and photos can be transferred to the iPhone via the iTunes sync process from a single computer only. When transferring iTunes content and photos from another computer, all iTunes content and photos transferred from a different computer will be erased from your iPhone first.
No other content is touched or erased when doing so including iPhone contacts especially if you don't select to sync contacts with a supported application on a new computer.
iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store only. With your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone. If you haven't activated the new computer with your iTunes account with iTunes, you should do so before doing this.
With Windows, contacts can be synced with Outlook 2003 or 2007 along with calendar events, or with Windows Contacts for syncing contacts only.
If you don't have Outlook 2003 or 2007 available on the new computer, you will have Windows Contacts available. Before syncing contacts with Windows Contacts, enter one contact in Windows Contacts. Make the contact up if needed, which can be deleted later. This will provide a merge prompt with the first sync with Windows Contacts, which you want to select.
There is no Outlook format or Apple address book format with contacts. You can sync contacts with Outlook 2003 or 2007 or with Windows Contacts on a PC, and sync contacts with Apple's address book on a Mac.
Contact, calendar events, and Safari bookmarks can be synced with the supported applications on multiple computers. With two Windows computers, with two Macs, or with a Windows computer and a Mac.

The iOS settings for the iPhone 3 never had an option to determine how long you wanted to save messages. That settings is new to iOS8. As far as some being deleted, there is nothing about the phone that should delete messages without some user intervention. Try a reset on the phone, this will not affect your data. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone will reboot.

Unfortunately yes, though technology would never move on if it kept to older standards and did not strive to do more.
The app store always gives you the option to use a previous version of the app IF it is available for your device.
Sorry but you are stuck without new hardware.
