Before you invest more time and effort in using Kerberos for SNC you should have a look onto <a href="https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/150380">SAP Note 150380</a> which states that there might be interoperability issues regarding various Kerberos implementations (namely: between the Kerberos implementations provided by some UNIX operating systems and the Kerberos implementation of MS Windows) - where SAP cannot provide much help.

  • Libs for Eclipse 3.3 on Solaris 8 and 10

I am trying to upgrade the eclipse 3.1 IDE we have installed on our Solaris 8 machine. There are 5 required libraries not presently on the machine. They are:
    libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0
    libgdk-pixbuf-2.0.so.0
    libgobject-2.o.so.0
    libglib-2.0.so.0
    libgdk-x11-s.0.so.0
I have scrounged around but cannot find a source for these libraries for Solaris. Can someone point me to a source, please?
I also need to install eclipse 3.3 on our Solaris 10 (SPARC) machines. All the libraries seems already to be there except one:
    libgdk-pixbuf-2.0.so.0
Am I likely to find this lib for Solaris 10 at the same place I might find the ones for Solaris 8?
    Thanks?

Albeit Sun Studio 12 doesn't support Solaris 8, while Sun Studio 11 does, you would probably want to use 12's IDE during development process, so give it a try. You can use compilers from Sun Studio 11 (stable version already available) together with IDE/debugger from Sun Studio 12 (EA available for download and stable version on its way).

  • License for cross-compilation for solaris 10 sparc on Linux x86

I'd like to do cross-compilation for solaris 10 sparc on Linux x86 using gcc (for linux). To do that, I have to copy libraries (/lib/64) and includes (/usr/include) from a sparc machine to my linux machine.
The compilation will be run on about (up to) 50 Linux machines (by various developers). We also have 3 solaris-10-SPARC machines.
I wonder if Solaris license allows me to copy the includes and libs to perform compilation elsewhere.
I also checked "OTN License Agreement for Oracle Solaris", but it looks like Oracle allows for installing "the programs" on up to 3 machines, but I need it on 50.
Thanks for any suggestions or redirections to a proper place where I can get an answer.

When installing Solaris 10 01/06 on a Dell 1850 I receive an error message during the install saying "no disk found". I assume that the drive/controller is not recognized. The Dell 1850 is listed under the HCL for Solaris 10 10/06. I don't believe I can use the Solaris(TM) Device Driver for the LSI MegaRAID Adapter floppy with 1/06. I dont have any other Solaris boxes up so I cant build a jump start server. Any suggestions?

  • Sun Cluster 3.1 64 bit support  for Solaris 10

    Hi:
I have some questions when migrate SC 3.1 from solaris 9 to solaris 10.
    1) Does Clutster 3.1 for solaris 10 support 64 bit?
I have develop own resource type which is compiled with 64 bit mode, while cluster admin program is 32 bit based. E.g. /usr/cluster/bin/scrgadm
Will that cause any problem? For instance: 32 bit lib and 64 bit lib have the same name libscha.so will be loaded by 32 bit scrgadm and 64 bit my own developped resource type program.
    2) Can I download a Cluster 3.1 install-pkg for solaris 10, 64 bit supported., which means all admin files like scrgadm are 64 bit based.
Or only ONE Cluster 3.1 version for solaris 10 is deliveried by SUN?
    Thanks in advance!
    BRs
    //rdctahu

    Hi,
    Comments on your 2 questions:
    1) Yes. IIRC, SC31 for S10 actually supports ONLY 64 bit. To be clear, this means
Solaris has to be booted in 64 bit mode, but 32 bit applications would run just
    fine.
As for your RT being 64 bit, and scrgadm being 32 bit, no problem.
    2) See (1). You are good.
    Go for it.

  • Last kernel patch for Solaris 10 x86 screwed up my kernel

    Hi,
The last kernel patch for Solaris 10 x86 (sorry I cant remember the patch id, but the revision is 30), available from Sun Update Manager screwed up my system.
The system is still booting but in maintenance mode: smf can't start because of repository corrupted. Given instructions to restore the repository does not work because / filesystem is mounted read-only...
As I am not a solaris expert, I will reinstall it from CD. I hope I won't loose the filesystem.

If you don't have the current Sun compiler suite on your machine (go ahead and download it, it's free), then you can use gcc by invoking "perlgcc" instead of "perl" on the module's makefile.

    Hi-
You can use below manual installation proceeds as follows :
Step 1. Download a setup for Windows and run it on a Windows machine.
Step 2. Once the setup is finished, FTP all the following files and folders from your Windows machine to you Sun Solaris server :
the entire 'bin' folder (excepting the '.bat' files) - ASCII transfer mode
the entire 'lib' folder - BINARY transfer mode
the entire 'drivers' folder - BINARY transfer mode
Step 3. Once you have transferred all the files, do not forget to configure the odiparams.sh file according to your environment. Also add the appropriate files, used by ODI to connect to your technologies, to the 'drivers' folder.
    Does it helpful?

  • Eclipse for Solaris 8

    Hi,
I want to download eclipse for solaris 8(jss-plumb) from where can I download it. I have downloaded one from the following site http://archive.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads/drops/R-3.2-200606291905/index.php. But, when I try to run it, it gives me following error "ld.so.1: eclipse: fatal: libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0: open failed: No such file or directory Killed". I have also referred the following thread http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5190972&tstart=2025 but there is no answer for it.

Well, since Solaris 8 is rather ancient by now i suppose that it wasn't shipped with the required gtk-library.
My guess is that you have to grab gtk 2.0 from www.sunfreeware.com, install it and add /usr/local/lib to $LD_LIBRARY_PATH, if the package installs under /usr/local/
    (aka, in bash: export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH).

How to install Oracle software remotely?
Remote Software Installation Steps: (For Solaris only)
If you want to install Oracle Software remotely, you should perform the following steps. These steps are applicable only if your source and target machine are running Unix.
For example, you can install Oracle Software from your home from Washington, DC to a target source in California.
    1. Pick your source server or machine for remote installation.
    2. Check that your CD is in your source CD-ROM drive.
    3. On the target machine, find your target machine name with the output of the /usr/bin/hostname
    4. On the source machine, login as a user.
    5. On the source machine, enable client access: % /usr/openwin/bin/xhost + target-machine-name
    6. Become root user by typing: su (don’t use -)
    7. Check that Volume Manger is running. # ps –ef |grep vold (if you see an entry that contains /usr/sbin/vold, Volume Manager is running. Then skip to Step 10.
    8. If not then do the following: # mkdir –p /cdrom/your-cd-file-name
    9. # mount –F hsfs –r cdrom-device /cdrom/your-cd-file-name
    10. Add the following line to your /etc/dfs/dfstab file: # share –F nfs –o ro /cdrom/your-cd-file-name
    11. Verify whether your source machine is an NFS server: # ps –ef | grep nfsd
    12. If you see an entry that contains /use/lib/nfs/nfsd –a 16, then nfsd is running and skip to Step 16.
    13. If nfsd is running, then type: # /usr/sbin/shareall
    14. If nfsd is not running, then start nfsd by typing: # /etc/init.d/nfs.server start
    15. Verify whether your source machine is an NFS server again by typing: # ps –ef | grep nfsd
    16. Make sure your source machine is exporting your product directory by typing: # /usr/sbin/dfshares
    17. Now, log in to the target machine by type: # rlogin target-machine-name –l user (not root)
    18. Then log in as the root user by typing: # su
    19. Go to the source machine by typing: # cd /net/source-machine/cdrom/your-cd-file-name ,then Skip to 24.
    20. If you cannot change to that directory in Step 19 and you do not have an auto-mounter on your network, then create amount point by typing the following commands.
    21. # mkdir /remote_products
    22. # /usr/sbin/mount –F nfs –r source-machine:/cdrom/your-cd-file-name /remote_products
    23. # cd /remote_products
    24. Redirect the target machine display to source machine by typing: # DISPLAY=source-machine:0; export DISPLAY (if you use a Bourne or Korn shell).
    25. Start the Web Start Installer by typing: # ./installer (or whatever the installer name program is).

This would be a good question for one of the forums on opensolaris.org, you might

then you can use the package database to look it up.

  • Device Driver/formatio for Solaris?

I pulled down a device driver for a GPIB instrument (HP 4145) It requires a library called "formatio". Is this a National Instruments lib and, if so, is this available for Solaris?
    Thanks and regards,
    John

    John,
It looks like you may have downloaded the LabWindows/CVI version of this driver. I noticed that there is a contributed version of the driver for LabVIEW (which I assume is the development environment that you are using) for the HP 4145B. That one may work for you, but since it is contributed there won't be much I can do if it doesn't.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to find libraries for solaris?

    Hello,
finding a certain library for Solaris applications seems to me not straightforward.
    For example: ldd emacs
    libtiff.so.3 => (file not found)
    libjpeg.so.62 => (file not found)
    libpng.so.3 => (file not found)
The problem is that i cannot connect this libraries to any patch name,
so that i just go to sun.com and download it.
I keep on searching google for maillists where people had the same problem.
Is there a more straightforward method?

You might already have the libraries installed, but they are just not in your search path.
Running 'pkginfo' might help you identify if the libraries are actually installed (though only if they were installed as separate packages).
Run 'crle' and check the system default linking environment.
Run 'env' and check your LD_LIBARY_PATH.
If you know that the libraries are installed on the system (for instance in /usr/local/lib) but the directories that they are in are not in one of those two places, you will not find them.
http://www.sunfreeware.com/ should have all of those libraries as packages.

  • Installation problem: Java Chartbuilder for Solaris

    Hi all,
I have downloaded Oracle Java Chart Builder for Solaris. It's a jar file in 3.8 M size. According to the documentation, I think I suppose to extract it, so I use this command to extract it:
    $jar xvf chartbuilder_kit.jar
This will just give me a META-INF folder which contains a MANIFEST.MF file. Other than that I get nothing much. I have tried the NT version of it( a zip file) and after I unzip it I suppose get a set of folder which included a lib, doc, demos, bin and Meta-inf.
Please advise, is it because of I use a wrong way in extracting the jar file????????

    ## Executing postinstall script.
Despite the errors i did extract supporting libraries to $LD_LIBRARY_PATH and to my surprise i was able to start R without an error:
ROracle Distribution of R version 2.15.1 (2012-06-22) -- "Roasted Marshmallows"
Copyright (C) 2012 The R Foundation for Statistical Computing
    ISBN 3-900051-07-0
    Platform: x86_64-pc-solaris2.10 (64-bit)
I don't understand what those errors received during installation mean. What could be a reason for? A fix?
Do you think i could safely ignore them?
    Any help much appreciated.
    Regards,
PS. I have a flash of enlightenment. Are those <svrtech> and <aime> in error messages a group and an user name of the account the package was prepared with (or something like that)??

I did follow rest of installation procedure (installed supporting libraries for R, and then ORE Server and ORE supporting libraries) and everything works fine, so far.
I am just cautious before deploying in production.
