Keyboard temporary malfunction 10.8.4

Hello,
I have big problem.
After upgrade to 10.8.4 I have problem with my macbook (I'm not sure, if upgrade is problem, but it's singnificant event). I install some other problems..
I use notebook every day, average 10hours. Before this I don't have any problem.
During work, keys: i u y t is temporary not wwite letters function...in one minute no work, other hour works properly...no hardware issue (no watter, no fall).
The issue is same after restart, after reinstallation of OS (no clean reinstallation, only reinstalation).
The issue is still here after more then 10 restarts...
Problem is, that the issue occurs in first log into computer too (before boot process...hwen I input password for my account - I have crypted disk)
I try anything...(look for user processes in activity monitor, startup sequence and more other things - with uncle google .
Issue is same for another new created user, for root too.
No I don;t have any idea.....Please help me.
Model: Macbook 15" Early 2011
OS: now 10.8.4 Build 12E55
Summary:
- no hardware problem, issue is temporary
- no watter or fall of macbook
- try reinstallation of OS (no full clean reinstallation)
- no another idea to solve issue ...:o(

as I wrote already, I have exactly the same problem, and I must add that the workaround I had proposed does not work.
However, I have another piece of evidence: it seems that the problem occurs more frequently while the TimeMachine carries out a backup, or in the minutes immediately after the backup is concluded.
I am using for backups on an external USB disk, powered by the MBP USB port: I am wondering whether the disk is overloading the USB, either by drawng too much power, or by saturating the bandwidth; in fact, also the internal keyboard is an USB device. No idea why this should affect the t y u i o keys more than others, honestly...
What I keep noticing is that when the keys hang, if I hit several of them simultaneously, the problem goes away for a few seconds or minutes; perhaps because of a surge of current, waking up some sleeping circuit?
Anyway, did you try removing external USB devices? Did you notice any correlation with Time Machne?

Keyboard - Weird Malfunctions

I purchased my Powerbook in early Dec. It has been fine. Suddenly today the keyboard is malfunctioning. Right now the caps lock button is on and I get lower case letters. NOW MY CAPS LOCK IS OFF AND I GET UPPER CASE. The opposite of what it should be. If I try and press the key for the dash I get an equals sign. Basically it is suddenly all messed up. I tried running a virus scan just in case but atill have this problem. Any ideas? Kicker is apple called Friday to get me to buy the support plan.......

Hello! For starters try running the repair permissions routine in apps>utiliites>disk utility>repair permissions and restart and see if that helps. Tom

Yes, Ive got an idea
In my opinion the internal keyboard needs to be replaced.
There is no other solution for that since single buttons are not replaceable.
In the meantime you can use an external USB keyboard. It should work properly and could be a good option until the internal keyboard has been replaced.

Keyboard commands malfunctioning

I don't really know how to explain what happened- the keyboard and trackpad are just behaving wrong all of a sudden. I click on an icon in my dock, and rather than just open the application like it used to, instead it opens a window that locates that application in Finder. When I have Chrome open, I cannot type anything into the browser because every letter I press opens some kind of command from the top menu bar. A few examples- "Q" or "W" will quit Chrome, "Y" opens the History, "H" closes the window, "G" or "F" opens a keyword search bar... I discovered this while I was working in Photoshop, and the "B" button is supposed to switch to the brush, but instead it began switching it to the Color Balance meter.
I was working on a drawing in Photoshop with my Wacom tablet plugged in. All I was doing was inking over a drawing- nothing complicated. I wasn't changing any settings or doing anything weird with the preferences, so I can't figure out what caused this to happen.
I had to use a friend's computer to type this help request because mine is now unusable.
And yes, I did try restarting my computer.

First I would disconnect the Tablet and see if that alone solves the problem.
What you describe would happened if the command key on the keyboard is stuck in the down position. Suggest you push them (there are two of them on either side of the space bar) aggressively and hope that fixes it.

Hp mini 110 1134CL keyboard malfunction

I wonder if anyone can help.
A few weeks ago my HP netbook keyboard started malfunctioning. Initially, there were a few keys that just would not appear when I typed but the problem has escalated and now, on each row, I can only type 2 of the characters, e.g. 5 and 6 on the numbers row, T and Y on the next row, etc.
Is there ANY way to fix this?

I saw a proposed solution under another Keyboard-tagged question (there are several of us with this issue), haven't dared try it.
Apparently this is systemic with HP, and you have a particularly bad case of it. I am on my second keyboard, and having the same problems with the shift keys that I had before, and now suddenly I am intermittently losing the use of the "u." I hope HP is reading these posts.

Keyboard malfunction on 9800 Torch

The letter 'i' appears without a dot each time I type it in email, messenger and text messaging. As a result, I cannot send emails as the recipient address is not recognised.
I have rebooted several times and restored to an earlier date when I didn't have this problem, but to no avail.

On Screen Keyboard Glitch in Tablet Mode - On Screen Keyboard minimizes / disappears / slides down

New Yoga owner here ( just bought it yesterday) and within minutes of setting the computer up I noticed that the on screen keyboard was malfunctioning when the yoga is in tablet mode. Specifically, it pops up for about a second and then, without me touching or clicking or doing anything, it quickly slides back down. repeated attempts to bring up the keyboard end up, frustratingly, with the same result. what is perplexing to me is the on screen keyboard works fine in laptop mode (when I need it least).
Someone else already started a post on this BUT it was marked as 'solved' (which it wasn't) so I figured I'd start new thread. The solution on the previous thread was to simply 'refresh' windows to get rid of any new drivers that were downloaded since purchasing the yoga, but I did not download or update anything prior to this problem arising (as I said, the problem seemed to occur within a few minutes of turning the machine on for the first time). In any case, I tried the refresh and it did not work so clearly my problem is not that I downloaded an incompatible or faulty driver. Please Help! I love this machine and I'm trying to see past the other flaws I've noticed so far (subtle screen flickering, inconsistent touch sensitivity etc), but this issue is starting to really undermine my confidence in the product quality and, from a productivity standpoint, it is a real deal breaker to not have full tablet functionality.

I had the same problem with the disappearing virtual keyboard within hours of starting to use my new Yoga 13. I read somewhere that it was a problem with an incompatible Synaptics driver, and when I looked in the control panel, it showed that the Synaptics driver had been updated on my Yoga as of the day I bought it. I think somehow by agreeing to automatic updates of the software, the Synaptics driver is updated to an incompatible version. So what I did was I removed the Synaptics driver, using the Windows program uninstaller tool, rebooted, and then found the Synaptics driver at the Lenovo site which is specifically labelled as the Yoga 13 driver. I installed that, and the keyboard is now working fine.

Satellite L750/04K Keyboard not registering every keystroke

I have just purchased a L750/04K laptop but the keyboard does not seem to be registering every keystroke.
Often you have to press the space a couple of times, or other keys as well.
It doesn't matter how fast or slow I type it happens randomly.
Any help resolving this would be greatly appreciated.
I am using windows 7 in 64bit mode.

Have you noticed the same behavior with external keyboard? Probably only the internal keyboard is malfunctioning and so not all keys will be recognized.
Also check the current BIOS version and have a look on official Toshiba website for an update:
But if an external keyboard works properly the internal keyboard must be replaced. During valid warranty time it can be done for free from an authorized service provider.

Touchpad and Keyboard not working

For the last 2 weeks my keyboard and touchpad has not been working when I load onto the log in screen on Windows. The keyboard works while the computer is loading but once the log in screen comes up, I can not use both. I have tried taking the battery out and holding the power button and hitting F7 when the computer is loading but neither of them makes my touchpad or keyboard work. I can choose Safe Mode when the computer is loading but neither will work after Windows load. There was an update that completed two weeks ago and it started afterward.

turn on the notebook while its turning on or booting up keep on tapping F8 button there will be options on how you want to boot the notebook choose safemode with command prompt, test your keys there and touchpad if it works most probably that your system got a malware that made the keyboard & touchpad malfunction... you got 2 options you could perform system restore but after a while the issue will exist or you could perform recovery but will wipe out all the information on the notebook (it will revert the notebook back to factory default condition) better to back up all your data.
there is no harm in trying, just always give your best shot!!!

Keyboard is not working correctly on my Satellite notebook

When I press some of the buttons on the keyboard, the button beside them is activated. eg I press the a button and it turns on the caps lock. This happens to other buttons as well.
What is causing this? How do I fix it?

I think its keyboard hardware malfunction
You can try to connect an external USB keyboard and could test the functionality.
If this issue would not appear using external USB keyboard, then this means that the controller on the motherboard is OK and the issue is your internal keyboard which would need to be replaced.

Qosmio Dx730 - virtual keyboard indicator issue

I have a Toshiba Qosmio Dx730.
I am not using the supplied wireless keyboard, but a standard D+ll wired keyboard as I prefer the keyboard layout.
However the keyboard indicator for the virtual keyboard is malfunctioning, and appears in the bottom left of the screen randomly (regardless of whether I hit caps lock or not).
It has now begun to randomly switch Caps Lock on and off, for no apparent reason.
Can I switch the keyboard indicator off somehow?
I never use the virtual keyboard, so I would be happy for that to be turned off as well.

Hi Joe, thanks for your reply.
I understand the function of the keyboard indicator and I think the problem that caused me to submit the previous post was due to my keyboard malfunctioning (embarassingly - grit under the caps lock key, causing the keyboard indicator to flash on and off randomly and switch to caps on)
However, as I am using a wired keyboard with its own keyboard indicators, (that is, *not* the wireless keyboard supplied with the PC) I would like to permanently switch off the virtual keyboard indicator.
Currently, even though I hide the keyboard indicator, it redisplays every time I hit the caps lock key, often in the middle of the screen.
Is there any way to permanently hide or switch off the virtual keyboard indicator?

No it not design for that. I just tried it. Left click only. I recomend that you do not mess with setting with in the software it self you may end up causing the keyboard to malfunction and crashing your computer.I all so just double check our computers help and support On screen keyboard settings. There was no option given for switching the mouse clicker. Just sticky keys and short cuts are listed. Sorry I hope this answered your question. I would all so not recomend trying to install other software you may find on switching key board setting unless it came from HP company design especially use on these types of computers. You may end up destroying your hard drive and computer all together.

Performance issues with unibody Macbook Pro 2009 purchased in October 2009

I have a 3.0Ghz Macbook Pro 15" which came installed with Snow Leopard.
I specified the machine with a 7200rpm 500GB drive although I had heard there were issues with these drives. I have installed Office 2008, CS/3, firefox, chronosync and fusion 3.0.
Since I have had the machine it has got slower and slower. Which surprises me given the configuration and the fact that I have 8GB of RAM. It should be quick.
I notice that it has become even slower since downloading a 'performance update' via software update which I installed when software update told me it was available yesterday, October 28th.
Has anyone else experienced the same problem? I also notice that these machines run very hot. I have read a lot of discussion which says that using Vista under fusion can make the machine run very hot. I have tried quitting fusion to see if the performance is any better and the machine still runs very hot and the performance is still awful.
To say that I am disappointed in such an expensive machine not performing properly is an understatement. I have a MacPro which apart from a graphics card replaced under warranty has never misbehaved itself.
I am not sure what all this 'Apple fanboy' nonsense is about - as far as I can see Apple with the notebook line seem to be releasing products which purport to be very advanced but in reading through the forums there seem to be nothing but problems with them.

Yeah, I was kinda worried since it is new. I thought maybe I could somehow adjust the brightness on the screen to make the bottom and corners brighter. And perhaps it was a software issue that was causing the keyboard to malfunction. And definitely have no clue about the headphone jack noises. And the bent display. Hmmm. I guess I will call AppleCare.

Windows update 8.1

I'm having trouble finding out if I have the necessary components and updates to perform the Windows 8.1 Update installation. I am running Windows 8 x64 OS on a Satellite c855-s5118. I've tried 2-3 times to run the update from windows store and it doesn't work correctly. I had it installed previously on this same computer but something was interfering with performance. I suspect a virus, since my keyboard was malfunctioning in one account but not another on this computer. I was finally able to obtain the Toshiba Recovery USB flash drive after 4 months and no internet connection during that time. Do I need to run some diagnostics prior to installing the update? what other steps do I need to take to safely and correctly install 8.1. I have avast! Internet Security 2015 (paid subscription) version. can someone provide guidance please. I've tried virtual help desk some and using Service Station but I am still having problems with the installation. It seems to take forever to initiate the process. My internet access is through router access point. But only 40% of the time I am able to be in range.

Good. After restoring the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents using that, carefully follow these instructions.
How to Update from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1
It's long process. Best to have an Ethernet connection.
