KeyLlistener implementation difficulty

I am trying to implement a key listener for the first time, and having trouble. Can you please look at the following code snippet and tell me what's wrong?
void meth1()throws Exception{
this.addKeyListener(new KeyListener (){
public void keyPressed(KeyEvent e){
this_keyPressed(e);
public void keyReleased(KeyEvent e) {
this_keyReleased(e);
public void keyTyped(KeyEvent e) {
this_keyTyped(e);
}//end meth1
public void this_keyPressed(KeyEvent e) {
int keyCode = e.getKeyCode();
if(keyCode == KeyEvent.VK_F7)
System.out.println("HelloWorld!!");
public void this_keyReleased(KeyEvent e) {
int keyCode = e.getKeyCode();
if (keyCode == KeyEvent.VK_F7)
System.out.println("key released!");
public void this_keyTyped(KeyEvent e) {
int keyCode = e.getKeyCode();
if (keyCode == KeyEvent.VK_F7)
System.out.println("key typed!");
Thanks....

Thank you for replying..
"this" refers to the panel. Do I need to write a separate class for keylistener?
I'm getting the follwing error:
"HeatTransDefDialog.java": Error #: 454 : class newhsa.HeatTransDefDialog should be declared abstract; it does not define method keyReleased(java.awt.event.KeyEvent) in interface java.awt.event.KeyListener at line 19, column 8
my code began as:
public class HeatTransDefDialog extends JDialog implements KeyListener
Please help.

  • Difficulty in implementing a web dynpro application

    Hi All,
    this is Sangeet.I'm facing some difficulty in testing the dynpro application zz_00_bapiflight.When I test it shows that the context node does not exist.
    One more thing which I wanted to know is when a view is created , it asks for a user name n PW, what is its significance.It did not show it for me in the above said application.Is it the reason ?
    Please help me out n the answers will be rewarded.
    Thanks,
    Sangeet.

    Hi Sangeet,
        When any view is created it does not ask for username and password.
        Which system are you using? Web dynpro ABAP can only work on ECC6.0
        onwards and it requires WAS 7.0 to run the application.
        Also when you run the application you need to check whether all settings are
        done or not. If you have not created any context node then please create it as
        per your requirement. Also check whether everything is active or not.
        To follow the complete procedure,
       You can start with tutorials and all. There are around six tutorials in SDN library.

  • Difficulty implementing the fetch measurement vi for an application on the 5102

    I have been spending what I believe an excessive amount of time integrating what seems to be a useful vi "multi fetch measurement statistics.vi" into an existing application. Attached is a word document that describes the issue in more detailed and a zip file which includes (1) a vi of the original program flow and (2) a .llb needed to load the vi as well as an additional vi that shows the flow after adding what initially thought to be a quick mod.

    It appears that you can infact use remote panels within an executable.
    The problem I had was that I had left the web server port for the remote panels the same as the LabVIEW development environment. That meant that the main LabVIEW web server was getting in the way of the web server that was associated with my built application.
    With the application's web server on a different port and the VI in memory (and the file in a library/directory external to the exe if it is not the top level VI), you just need to specify the VI name such as main.vi .
    Solved!

  • How difficult would it be to implement an iMessage whitelist..?

    iMessage spam is a really big problem to me and my family members.  And getting worse by the week.
    Blocking individual senders is ludicrously ineffective and Apple seems to be reluctant to allow us to block entire domains (which would really help).
    So how difficult would it be to implement a whitelist?  (For example... I don't want any iMessages from anybody not in my Contacts list!)
    I'm really close to disabling iMessage altogether.  It is barely worth the effort now.

    The difficulty and time to do it depends on the learning
    capability of the new programmer. Patience and a drive to learn is
    what all is needed. Accomplishing one step at a time is probably
    the best approach, whether you're new or well-versed.

  • How difficult is it to implement indirect sales tax for India?

    Dear All,
    What is the level of difficulty to implement indirect sales taxes for India? Is this a low, medium, or high level of difficulty implementation?
    Does India offer a nationalization package, and is it necessary to install India's nationalization?
    Ultimately, I need to get an estimate for the number of people and days of work involved in order to determine the expected cost.
    Kind regards,
    Mark

    Hi Mark,
    The level of difficulty to implement indirect sales taxes for India is high level of difficulty implementation?
    Country India Version is along with ECC. No need to implement any other package.
    Depend on the requirement it takes 2-3 months of implementation for CIN. And Two consultants are required to configure this implementation. If A consultant has 2-3 years in the CIN Configuration then 1 Consultant is enough. Cost vary from organization to organization.

  • Ways to implement image resizing using plug-ins?

    Hi Photoshop developers,
    I'm a developer with a few Photoshop filter and selection plug-ins under my belt, and I have a good understanding of the SDK and tools and suites it provides. My next project is an algorithm for enlarging/resampling images to different pixel dimensions. I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for or experience with the best combination of plug-in types to implement this.
    Clearly, I can't just write it as a filter plug-in, since there is no way to change the image dimensions from within a filter.
    I'd like the resized image to remain within Photoshop (as a new window or in the original one), so an export plug-in on its own is not sufficient.
    Import plug-ins seem promising, since they allow the creation of a new document of the required size. However, as best I can tell from the Photoshop 6.0 SDK documentation, import plug-ins cannot access the image data from other open documents (or even the clipboard), nor do they provide any support for channel ports and the Channel Port suite.
    My best idea at this stage is to create an export plug-in to provide the user interface and calculate the resized image, and then an import plug-in to import the resized image back into a new window. (I'm supposing a further automation plug-in would then be written to perform this export/import sequence.) The difficulty I see with this approach is how to communicate the resized image data between the two plug-ins. Since the resized image will potentially be very large, the ideal solution would be to store it in channels managed by the Channel Ports suite. However, I cannot see how the channel ports created in the export plug-in could be communicated to and used by an import plug-in. The alternative would be for the export plug-in to save the resized image to a temporary file on disk, however this seems unnecessary.
    So, my questions, specifically, are:
    a) Is it possible to create new channels using the Channel Ports suite (sPSChannelPorts->New()) in one plug-in, and have those channels persist to be used in another plug-in?
    b) If so, how would the channel ports be communicated between the plug-ins?
    c) Alternately, are there any alternative architectures available for implementing an image-resizing algorithm using the plug-in types that are available for Photoshop developers.
    Any responses would be greatly appreciated; I know this is a low-traffic forum...
    Thanks,
    Matthew.

  • Q4_How to manage software material and BOM in SAP_High-tech Industry PLM Implementation Issues

    Hello,
    We are implementing SAP PLM for a high-tech company which designs and manufactures mobile phones (ODM). Since we are new in PLM consulting and we are facing with some implementation difficulties, we are looking for some solutions here.
    Question 4: How to manage software material and BOM in SAP?
    Currently, software are not managed as material in the BOM.  How to manage software material in PLM, can anyone help us with some suggestions.
    Question 5: PADS integration with PLM.
    Currently, customer is using Pro/E and PADS to design their product. SAP has already provided standard interface for Pro/E integration. But for PADS, there is no such interface. Because of the specialization of electrical components managed in PADS, different from structural parts in Pro/E, how to transfer them between PLM system and manage them in the PLM system has become an difficulty. We will appreciate a lot if anyone can share us with some successful solutions.

    Hi,
    software, typically a released version of software, is typically managed as a normal material master, and a related document with the code as a package (e.g. ZIP), if really needed.
    Software in development is managed typically with a dedicated Software Configuration Management tool like Rational ClearCase, Subversion, MKS Integrity, ....

  • Some questions about FIFO implementation

    Hi, I'm working on a project to control an industrial manipulator using Labview. At this stage, I'm able to transmit linear and angular velocities from the compactRIO through the LAN to the actual robot, which processes the data and then moves accordingly. The data is transmitted as a char string. I'm looking to implement a FIFO so that the processes of reading user input and sending can run in parallel.
    What is the difference between adding a new FIFO from target and using the available FIFO vis in the functions palette? Also any tips or mistakes people commonly make when using this approach?
    Just to be clear, my current solution works well enough, but I need it a bit faster. Also english is not my first language so please excuse any mistake I made.
    Thanks a lot, any help is really appreciated

    Hey Jcarellanov,
    There are only a few differences between implementing a FIFO either through the target instantiation in the library and instantiating them explicitly on the block diagram.
    Difficulty of Implementation - As you have seen, to implement the FIFO explicitly on the block diagram you have to manage the connection in your code. This will result in a much messier looking block diagram and will force you to code in such a way to allow appropriate access to the stored information. There also comes in some complexity when you try to refer to the FIFOs from different targets.
    Efficiency - When creating the FIFO via the Project Library, it gives you a simpler implementation but as you are delegating the task of maintaining the FIFO to LabVIEW, it results in the use of more FPGA gates and Look Up Tables (LUTs) than if you were to create the FIFO explicitly. LabVIEW will produce a FIFO structure which is suitable for all scenarios (How the FIFO data will be shared), but if you instantiate the FIFO explicitly you will only make use of the scenarios which apply to your code, therefore you will avoid using up FPGA space unnecessarily.
    In terms of any tips I have for using the FIFO, I'd recommend for most projects that the use of the Project Library based implementation should be perfectly fine. It's really helpful to have LabVIEW do a lot of the hard work for you at the expense of some extra gates; although if space is a constraint, it may be better to define it in your block diagram. I'd suggest only using as few FIFOs on your block diagram as you can because it's easy to get lost in a mess of wire; you can try concatenating data and using a For Loop to write all of the data to a FIFO of a particular kind, for shared information, which is great for using one FIFO for data of a particular type.
    If you're finding that your FIFO is slow, try increasing the number of elements to read and write in your FIFO; but this will still only be limited to the rate at which you're acquiring data. For some modules can try and increasing the data rate through a property node of an I/O node in order to increase the amount of samples acquired. You can use a DCM (Clock multiplier) to drive some operations faster, but you must be wary that you don't incur any timing violations in your code (This is when your code ends up driving the clock source of the FPGA to such a speed that the configured circuitry can't keep up) and you can try to make use of Single Cycled Time Loops (SCTLs) to increase the clocking speed of certain sections of your code phenominally. You can find a good explanation of SCTLs here. There are also great examples in the NI Example Finder (LabVIEW > Help > Find Examples...) for different interesting FPGA configurations.
    Also your English is great! I hope this helps.

  • Implementing Oracle DCN with Coherence Cache in a weblogic 10 app server

    I m trying to implements a DCN ( Database change notification ) on oracle to notify a listener of an event of DB so I can update Coherence Cache.
    I followed the tutorial here and it is working fine using a sample program with a main method to execute the listener class and keep it running.
    My question is how would this notification and listener gets implemented on a production environment since my local test was only running a main method to keep the listener running? what technology to use to keep the listener always running on the background and receive the notification from the database )?
    would a [weblogic startup class|http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E13222_01/wls/docs81/ConsoleHelp/startup_shutdown.html] work for this purpose?
    We are using Weblogic 10 as our app server.

    That's a very simple question with (many) potentially complex answers. I think that first uou need to study information on TimesTen to understand what it is and what it does. Then you need to relate that to you current performance bottleneck (I assume you have analysed those). If your bottleneck is database access then maybe TimesTen can help you.
    Please bear in mind that TimesTen is not a 'transparent' drop in performance booster. To implement TimesTen and to realise significant performance improvement you will almost certainly need to make changes to both the application and the overall architecture. The cost/difficulty of doing that also needs to be factored in.

  • Implementing Observeable pattern:

    Hi, i am having difficulty implementing Observeable and observer pattern. Please, can anyone help? I want to have a small program (no interface required) which will let an online user login with their account number and password. After loging in, user can register for news and if they have registered, they will get a news item displayed on their next login, only if the new news item is available. Can anyone guide me towards the solution, please!!!
    I can send a class diagram if required.

    Have a look at metalink note 746108.1

    The protocol itself is very simple and shouldn't cause any difficulty in Java.

  • Dynamic Class Downloading difficulty

    Hi RMI Specialists,
    I am experiencing a possible dynamic class loading issue when attempting to separate the client & server codes across 2 separate Windows (XP & 2000) systems. This exercise (from ch13 of Oreillys Learning Java) is made up
    of the following interfaces and classes:
    On the Server side:
    package LearningJavaServer;
    import java.rmi.*;
    import java.util.*;
    public interface RemoteServer extends Remote {
        Date getDate(  ) throws RemoteException;
        Object execute( WorkRequest work ) throws RemoteException;
    package LearningJavaServer;
    import java.rmi.*;
    import java.util.*;
    public class MyServer extends java.rmi.server.UnicastRemoteObject
        implements RemoteServer {
        public MyServer(  ) throws RemoteException { }
        // implement the RemoteServer interface
        public Date getDate(  ) throws RemoteException {
            return new Date(  );
        public Object execute( WorkRequest work ) throws RemoteException {
            return work.execute(  );
        public static void main(String args[]) {
            try {
                RemoteServer server = new MyServer(  );
                Naming.rebind("NiftyServer", server);
            } catch (java.io.IOException e) {
                // problem registering server
    package LearningJavaServer;
    import java.io.*;
    public class Request implements java.io.Serializable {}
    package LearningJavaServer;
    public abstract class WorkRequest extends Request {
        public abstract Object execute(  );
    }On the Client side:
    package LearningJavaClient;
    import java.rmi.*;
    import java.rmi.registry.LocateRegistry;
    import java.rmi.registry.Registry;
    public class MyClient {
        public static void main(String [] args)
          throws RemoteException {
            new MyClient( args[0] );
        public MyClient(String host) {
            try {
                RemoteServer server = (RemoteServer)
                    Naming.lookup("rmi://"+host+"/NiftyServer");
                System.out.println( server.getDate(  ) );
                System.out.println(
                  server.execute( new MyCalculation(2) ) );
            } catch (java.io.IOException e) {
                  // I/O Error or bad URL
                     System.out.println( e );
            } catch (NotBoundException e) {
                  // NiftyServer isn't registered
               System.out.println( e );
    package LearningJavaClient;
    import java.rmi.*;
    import java.util.*;
    public interface RemoteServer extends Remote {
        Date getDate(  ) throws RemoteException;
        Object execute( WorkRequest work ) throws RemoteException;
    package LearningJavaClient;
    public class MyCalculation extends WorkRequest {
        int n;
        public MyCalculation( int n ) {
            this.n = n;
        public Object execute(  ) {
            return new Integer( n * n );
    package LearningJavaClient;
    import java.io.*;
    public class Request implements java.io.Serializable {}
    package LearningJavaClient;
    public abstract class WorkRequest extends Request {
        public abstract Object execute(  );
    }Steps to invoke all services on the server side:
    cd C:\Documents and Settings\htran\JavaRMI\build\classes on both systems;
    ( i ) start rmiregistry.
    ( ii ) java -Djava.rmi.server.codebase='http://serverhostname/LearningJavaServer/' -Djava.security.policy="C:\Documents and Settings\htran\.java.policy" -cp . LearningJavaServer.MyServer
    Steps to invoke all services on the client side:
    ( i ) java -Djava.security.policy="C:\Documents and Settings\htran\.java.policy" -cp . LearningJavaClient.MyClient serverhostname
    java.rmi.NotBoundException: NiftyServer
    Or
    ( ii ) java -Djava.rmi.server.codebase='http://clienthostname/LearningJavaClient/' -Djava.security.policy="C:\Documents and Settings\htran\.java.policy" -cp . LearningJavaClient.MyClient serverhostname
    java.rmi.UnmarshalException: Error unmarshaling return; nested exception is:
    java.net.MalformedURLException: no protocol: 'http://clienthostname/LearningJavaClient/'
    Is it possible that this issue could have been caused by either the Request/WorkRequest classes which are present on both system? Likewise, is the location of invoking RMI registry on the server correct?
    Both systems have got their own web servers (http://serverhostname/LearningJavaServer & http://clienthostname/LearningJavaClient).
    No firewalls between the two systems and the security files (C:\Document Settings\htran\.java.policy) are made up of the following 2 lines:
        grant codeBase "file:/home/jones/src/" {
            permission java.security.AllPermission;
        };Another issue that I am having is that the server process below is that it keeps on dropping off after a minute or two:
    C:\Documents and Settings\htran\JavaRMI\build\classes>java -Djava.rmi.se
    rver.codebase='http://clienthostname/LearningJavaClient/' -Djava.security.policy="C:\
    Documents and Settings\htran\.java.policy" -cp . LearningJavaClient.MyClient serverhostname
    This exercise has worked fine when running all the codes on the same host.
    I am running Netbeans 5.5, JDK1.5.0_11 on Windows 2000 (Server) & XP (Client).
    Any assistance would be appreciated.
    Many thanks,
    Henry

    Hi Esmond,
    You still have an empty catch block for the IOException. Fix that first. I >can't possibly tell what's going on until you can at least bind the >service.OK. MyServer.java below no longer throws RemoteExceptions in both of its methods and added the print stacktrace to catch the empty IOException earlier.

    I now understand that you do want to use dynamic class loading, and >moreover that you want to do it from the client to the server, in which >case you do need java.rmi.server.codebase at the client and you do >also need a codebase server. However the client and server can both >use the same codebase server, and indeed in this situation I don't >see why the server needs a codebase server or setting at all actually. I >don't really see why you want to use it from the client either, if this is a >closed system but that's your problem not mine.I now use only one codebase server. ie the one on the Client side where MyCalculation.class resides. You are right it is not necessary to use codebase when launching MyServer since the Client side does not need to download any additional classes over to the client side. Nevertheless, neither of the above startups (with/without) codebase worked even though the error messages were slightly different.
    Btw, can you explain what you mean by a "close system" compared to an "opened system"?
    java.net.MalformedURLException: no >protocol: 'http://clienthostname/LearningJava/'
    That doesn't make sense. Are you sure you're transcribing it correctly? >Also what line of code is throwing it?Here is the code for MyClient which explains that the line java.net.MalformedURLException: came from line 32, the printStackTrace() from IOException.
    public class MyClient {
        public static void main(String [] args)
          throws RemoteException {
          System.setSecurityManager(new RMISecurityManager());
            new MyClient( args[0] );
        public MyClient(String host) {
            try {
                RemoteServer server = (RemoteServer)
                    Naming.lookup("rmi://"+host+"/NiftyServer");
                System.out.println( server.getDate(  ) );
                System.out.println(
                server.execute( new MyCalculation(2) ) );    // line 28
            } catch (java.io.IOException e) {
                  // I/O Error or bad URL
                  System.out.println("IOException from MyClient");
               e.printStackTrace();
            }  catch (NotBoundException e) {
                  // NiftyServer isn't registered
                  System.out.println("NotBoundException from MyClient");
               e.printStackTrace();
            } catch (Exception e) {
                  System.out.println("General Exception from MyClient");
                  e.printStackTrace();
    }I wouldn't pay much attention to this message since the MyServer has difficulty registering itself to RMI registry. As a result, MyClient could not
    locate MyServer via RemoteServer interface before giving up altogether.
    Unfortunately, I have not being able to create an interface (e.g. >MyCalculation.class as an interface, MyCalculationImpl.class as the >actual implementation of MyCalculation) since WorkRequest is an >abstract class, which does not allow MyClient to instanciates >MyCalculation on line 28.
    I don't see why not. What error messages/exceptions are you getting?
    Are you referring to the execute() method on line 13 in >RemoteServer.classNo, I am referring to line 28 of MyClient.class above after the following failed attempts to create an interface for MyCalculation.java:
    public interface MyCalculation extends WorkRequest { // Got a syntax error: interface expected here in Netbeans.
    } Or
    public interface MyCalculation {}
    public class MyCalculation extends WorkRequest extends MyCalculation { ... # Obviously cannot extend more than one class.Any suggestion?
    No. I said the remote method implementation (i.e. in your xxxImpl >class) doesn't need to be declared to throw RemoteException. The >remote method definition in the remote interface certainly does. I have taken out the RemoteException from 2 methods in MyServer.java. ie implementation of the RemoteServer.java.
    In short, I have used only one codebase server but puzzled whether MyCalculation.class (have split it up into interface & implementation) will be passed over to the
    server side by referenced, value or Dynamic Class Downloading. I do not want it to use Dynamic Class Downloading to do this.
    Thanks,

  • Managing the administration in implementation projects

    Hi all,
    I have been using the Solution Manager in implementation projects for 2 years now. However, I'm having difficulty on managing the project schedule using the administration tab in transaction solar01 and solar02:
    1.     Unlike MS project, for example, you cannot define a connection/ link between the structure elements, which means that if you have to change the start time for a process in the administration tab, i.e.,  it has no effect on the other processes/ steps' start time, even when you know that there should be an effect.
    2.     You cannot put partial person days, for example 1.5 PD or 0.4 PD.
    3.     As far as I know, if you export the project structure to a MS Project file, it is not possible to import the changes made in the file back to the Solution Manager.
    For that reasons, some customers and project managers prefer to export the project structure to MS Project and manage the project schedule and resources in that separated file.
    I would appreciate it if you could give me an advise based on your experience, on how to better manage the times in an implementation project, using the Solution Manager.
    Thank you,
    Adi

    Hi Adi,
    I have also been using SolMan since May 2004 (from 3.1 days). Unfortunately, in my view, the functionality of Admin Tab hasn't kept up in pace as with other features of SolMan.
    My suggestion is not to use it for active day-to-day tracking for the limitations you have pointed out as also for it not being the best-of-breed to manage Project Plans of a multi-location, multi-stream project.
    I have, at best, used Admin Tab for Keywords and Team members - for information sake.
    Also, if you use a Template Project -> Implementation Project copy, Admin tab is not included as part of 'Compare and Adjust' functionality - which means that if the same Team Members and Keywords are required on Implementation Project, you cannot get them inherited.
    I am sorry that my answer kind of confirms your findings and helplessness as  opposed to providing any solution. But, that's my honest sum-up as well.
    Regards,
    Srini

    I find Mail under Mavericks to be weird. Are others having this same/similar difficulty? "Upgraded" to Mavericks last week, after updating the firmware to my WD external HD.

    "Weird" needs further explanation.
    Google's highly nonstandard IMAP implementation is weird, if you're using Gmail, though Apple bent over backwards to accomodate it. Other than that, what do you mean by "weird"?
