Keynote insists on separate video from audio on exporting.

Hi, friends.
I've searched a while this forum and I found a couple of friends sharing my problem but neither of them have received a sound solution. I'm trying to export a keynote presentation to QT, high res, mixed audio, autoplay. However, every time I export the presentation, no matter what options I choose, Keynote insists on separate audio from video into two mov files. Is this a Keynote normal behavior? If so, how am I supposed to mix both files and which App can help me to do that. QTPlayer has no options to the user to mix video and audio and this is an extra task that Keynote should address from the export function, right?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Ok. I spent some hours more on this problem and the only option that mixes both video and audio in one mov file when exporting to QT movie is this:
Sorry for pasting and Spanish version, it's the only I use.
I was avoiding the option "Fixed Time" (Tiempos Fijos) from the beginning of my tests because its name is misleading: it states that all compositions will last the same fixed length of time; worse yet, every slide will last also the same fixed length of time that you specify in the text boxes. I don't want standardized intervals between compositions because that would ruin my work; my presentation has different intervals between slides and among compositions for the viewer to have time to read the slides.
After reading the Keynote PDF manual, I learned that such option doesn't apply to EVERY slide or composition, BUT only to those ones which are set to "after mouse click" to transit to the next slide, whereas the slides which are set to a length of seconds after what to transit to the next slide, are honored.
So, I used "Fixes Times" option to export my presentation and both video and audio where mixed in the same mov file. I must assume, then, that separating video from audio is a normal Keynote behavior, except when "Fixes Times" option is set.
I hope this can help to someone.

  • How do I move a downloaded file (from YouTube) to GarageBand so as to separate video from audio, then send audio to iTunes?

How do I move a downloaded file (from You Tube) to Garagband - so as to separate video from audio (which I will send to iTunes)

Create a new GarageBand "Movie" project, then import your movie into GarageBand, by dragging it from the "Movies" tab of the Media Browser into the Timeline. GarageBand will split the movie into a video channel and an audio channel. Delete the video/movie channel and use the "Share" menu to send the audio channel to iTunes (assuming you have iLife '11 GarageBand)

  • Time code finder to auto sync separate video and audio

    Hi All,
Trying to see if FCP has a tool that would allow me to type in the time code from my digital slate to instantly sync separate video & audio. Shot a low budget feature on a RED and digitally recorded audio. We did setup the RED to get reference audio but now I need to sync each scene and take up to the primo audio.
As far as I know, FCP doesn't have any such option but I hope someone proves me wrong.

This is kind of off the top of my head, since I usually sync using the "dumb" part of the slate, but here's a workflow I'd try. I'm assuming here that the timecode from your digital slate matches the audio timecode.
    1. Select an audio clip in the bin. Choose from the menu Modify/Timecode...
    2. Copy the Source TC value into the Aux TC 1 row. You might have to turn on some checkboxes on the left side. Make sure the format and the rate are the same for both.
    3. Open the video clip in the viewer and find a frame where you can see the smart slate clearly.
    4. Select Modify/Timecode... and enter the timecode value you see in that frame in the Aux TC 1 row. Again, be sure you're using the right format and rate.
    5. Select the two audio and video clips that you want to sync. Choose Modify/Merge Clips... and synchronize using Aux Timecode 1.
You should then have a new merged clip with the audio and video in sync. The scratch audio that came with the video file will be there too, so pay attention to your audio patching and be careful about which tracks you actually cut into the timeline.
I can't say for sure if this is faster than just marking inpoints at the clap on each clip. Typing in all that timecode could be hazardous to one's health.

  • Combining Separate Video and Audio tracks

Hi, what's the best way to combine a video and audio tracks into a single file? We will be given the video and audio from 13 volleyball games, and each game will be coming as a file.mpg (mpeg2) video and an mp3 file.
We're looking for a way to either manually bring it in, or bulk automate a way of combining the two tracks for each game to have one file that is in a format that doesn't need to be rendered in FCP.
    Thanks!

Seems like there should be some way to combine clips somewhere though? < </div>
Not if they're form separate devices or in different codecs. the MPEG2 files are the big problem, next time, have your people shoot conventional DV and use the audio interface to bring in a feed from your announce booth or radio station or whatever so it's in sync.

  • Separate video from music

Updated to IOS 8 podcast app.
Problem 1: Still cannot separate synced podcast on the device vs podcasts in the cloud when using stations.
Say that I make a great station.  The app includes podcasts not on device and needs to be download.
The app stops playing and all I hear is silence while the podcasts gets downloaded slowly.  Bad user experience!
There should be away to play exclude podcasts that have not been downloaded.
Problem 2. Podcast app no longer understands the following smart playlist categories when syncing from itunes:
                   Kind
                   Composer
                    Group
                   Category
                   Comments
                   etc...
i use those categories to separate out video and music podcasts.
I want a playlist of only music and a playlist of only video.  I don't want interruptions and wait for podcasts to be downloaded when it is already on the device.
In IOS 7 and previous, I have "Kind contains video" in the smart playlist to separate out video from music.
Now the Podcasts app sends that playlist to the music app.  Because the smart playlist says also includes "Media kind is podcasts", the music app does not have anything in the playlist.
I created a video only station.  But due to problem 1, it was a bad user experience.
I have the following in the smart playlist:
    Match all
    Media kind is podcasts
    Kind contains video
    Plays = 0

In iTunes, right click on a movie (or video), select "get info" then select "video" and choose the correct category from the "video kind" box. Then click "ok".
When you've done this for all the videos/movies that are labelled wrongly, re-sync the iPod to reflect the changes.

  • Syncing separate video and audio

My audio was recored separately from my video. (We used a clapper on set similar to a film shoot) After I have synced the video and audio on the timeline, is there a way I can marry both so whenever I open my video clip from the browser, the audio stays constantly sunk.

Merge Clips works most of the time but I have found the only dependable way to make sure audio and video stay together forever and ever is export it self-contained. For me, using DV, that's not a big deal.
Also to consider, your audio file may drift over time which may require breaking things up into 30-90 second clips.

  • How to upload to Youtube a slideshow made with Keynote: it has separate video

I made my 1st slideshow with Keynote tonight, but when I exported it, or converted to a video, it was in 2 pieces!  A video and a audio file.  I wanted to upload it to Youtube, and I don't know how to do it.  Youtube has a "Video Editor" but I couldn't get it to work.  I wish Keynote would export like iPhoto and produce a video that has the sound included (but iPhoto isn't so good for including text).  Do I have to put Keynote slideshows into iMovie to add sound?

    Hey blckhed,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. You can easily get your slideshow to YouTube. The following article will assist you in the process.

  • Is there a way to separate video and audio?

I'm new to iMovie 08 because I've always used FCP. But for this particular project I'm working on, I think FCP would be overkill and I've always wanted to try iMovie anyway. So I'm use to having two different timelines for the audio and the video. iMovie only gives me one for both. Is there a way to unlink the audio and video channels? I would have thought this concept would be pretty universal for all video editors. What if you want to drop an insert clip over the audio or unsync the audio and video altogether?

Scroll down here: http://www.apple.com/ilife/tutorials/#imovie ..to "Advanced Techniques" at lower-left, in particular "Working with Audio Clips" and "Working with Background Audio"..

  • Detaching separate video and audio tracks

If I import a video file without audio, and then a music file, why does FCPx snap them together in a way that, if I want to move the first 20 seconds of the clip further away, when I move it forward, it takes the audio track with it?, how can I detach it?

As you can see in the image attached, theese green lines seem to keep united both tracks (or track sectors)

  • Separate Video and Audio tracks

After I've opened a new project and dragged the clips into the timeline, the Audio and Video tracks suddenly are separated. Their pôsition is changed an the video track is on track 1 while the audio is to find on track 6. (see image attached) There is no way to drag them together, also by first having them disconnected. Does anybody know how to bring them both together on their track 1 as it use to be and as illustrated on the second attached image ?
    Joined tracks

    Thanks Bill,
How do I get acces to the main forum ?
But isn't it so that if you import clips containing 5.1 surround, automatic a 5.1 channel audiotrack is added to the project.
When I do this, the audio channel is created on track 6, although I have the preset of the standard timeline by starting a new project put on 3 audio and 3 video tracks.
    Tracks 4 and 5 don't exist.
When I load an old project with the normal timeline, i still can add clips by the usual way. Everything works normal.
When I try to drag the audio track to the track Audio as it use to be thits place, both tracks jumps two tracks higher.
I compaired the old and the new project and find no difference in the presettings.
I am desperate because it's useless to start new projects with this failure.
Many thanks in advance to help me anyway.

  • Jumpy video and audio on export

I have a .DV movie created in an old version of IMovie. The file was exported from iMovie using the highest quality setting available. I am trying to export this movie to a larger screen size .MOV. However when doing so, the video on the new file becomes jumpy and the audio stops and starts. The play buttons behave erratically. When I convert the original .DV to a .MOV leaving all of the size and quality parameters as they are, the export occurs with no problem.
Is what I'm trying to do just not possible? I would really like this file to play back bigger by default.

I can understand that, but I also exported the .DV to a .MOV, and then tried the export. Same problem. I assume the same answer, yes?

  • FCPX starting a clip black with audio playing and fade in video from black

Hello FCPers, I recently have made the leap from FCP7 to X. I have not gotten used to the lack of rubber bands on clips vid and audio in the timeline. So how would you:
Start a clip with video black, audio fades in from silence, then fade in the video over the running audio all in the same clip?
The hard way was to cut the clip up, separate video and audio and use the video animator on the first video chunk, then fade in the 2nd chunk manually. Ahhh, if I could only option-T a keyframe diamond on that line.
Everything else is going without a hitch. Let me know what you think.

CControl-V to open video animation and ramp the opacity with the fade handle.
I Prefer to put a gap clip in front of the video. Expand the audio then roll the gap clip on top of it to trim the video. Cross dissolve to the video to fade it up.

  • Disappearing videos from the slides of Keynote in retina display 15" Macbook Pro

After transferring to retina 15" display macbook pro, keynote started to delete videos from the presentations without leaving a sort of mark or placeholder but just an empty slide.

You should have a backup in the first place. If you don't, buy an external drive (they're inexpensive these days) and make a Time Machine or a clone backup (using Carbon Copy Cloner).
Then take your machine to your local Apple Store or an AASP and let them diagnose the computer. See if they can isolate what may possibly be making the 'clicking' sound.

  • How can I get FCP to just send the video (without audio) from the viewer?

Is there a way to select only the video portion of a clip when sending it from the viewer to the timeline? Currently I am taking the whole clip, de-linking the video from audio and then deleting the audio - not exactly the fastest workflow.

Neil - Thanks for the suggestion but I am a bit more confused now but perhaps I wasn't as clear as I could be either. I am trying to drag clips into the timeline and superimpose them over other clips and I want to be able to drag only the audio or the video from the viewer to the timeline. Is this possible?

  • Video conversion/audio not working

I put the video on iTunes, I right click on video, scroll down to convert selection, when the video is converted the video is fine, but there is no audio, what should I do?

QuickTime expects video files with separate video and audio tracks, but many MPEG formats used a muxed (multiplexed) single track that contains both. Therefore, iTunes & the iPod (both of which use QuickTime) only show the video and no sound.
iPod plays video but not audio of some exported files

One way to work around this is to use MPEG Streamclip to convert the files to fix this issue...
