Keynote prompting for non-existent iTunes library

My Keynote is prompting me for a new location for all 10,000 songs in an itunes library that is has not been on my computer for the past 2 years. Itunes knows this library does not exist, but keynote is still looking for it. I cannot shut down the computer because Keynote is blocking it. I cannot quit Keynote because the prompts are blocking that as well. Cannot force quit Keynote either.

What are you trying to do that triggers this message, specify the exact menu or keyboard command ?
You can force a shut down by continually pressing the power button untill the Mac shuts down.

  • Import prompt for non existent device

Every time I launch LR 2.2, if prompts me to import from my iPod Touch, which is not connected to the computer. It displays one blank image. How can I stop this from happening? When I plug in my compact flash card, I do want it to bring up the import dialog, which it does correctly.

Import the bogus image, then delete it, that is, if you can import it, whatever "it" is.
I'd like to not have my iPhone come up for prompting, as it does have images on it that I don't care to import.

  • TS4213 Why can't iPhoto, Pages, Numbers, Keynote and iMovie access my iTunes Library files and Pages, Numbers, Keynote and iMovie access my iPhoto Library files now that I upgraded to '11?

Why can't iPhoto, Pages, Numbers, Keynote and iMovie access my iTunes Library files and Pages, Numbers, Keynote and iMovie access my iPhoto Library files now that I upgraded to '11?
Examples of what is going on:
    1. In Pages, Numbers & Keynote, when I go to the media browser the Audio section reads "Open iTunes to populate this list" even after iTunes has been opened, .xml file has been replaced/repaired, etc  AND Photo section reads "Open iPhoto to see photos from your iPhoto Library in this list" even after iPhoto Library has been replaced and new default library created.
    2. In iMovie, similar thing ... when I go to add photos or music to a movie the iTunes files aren't present and the iPhoto photos are missing with similar messages as in #1.
    3. In iPhoto, similar thing ... when I go to add music to a slideshow it says to "Open iTunes to populate this list".
It is shocking to me that Apple would let something as simple as a pathway link to associated library files get this messed up on an upgrade, but what's even more surprising is that with the number of people who seem to be having this particular issue (and I can tell from all the research that I've done for weeks online that there are a lot of them) that there doesn't seem to be a single clear answer to fixing it anywhere on these community support forums.  Most of what I've seen is rehashed advice from outdated issues.  What I need is a simple answer to how do we get these programs to look for the correct location of the photo and music files because I sure can't seem to find any logical place to do that through the programs' preferences files or the system preferences window?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    P.S. Here's the details on the software/hardware:
    MacBook Pro
    Mac OS X
    Version 10.7.5
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
    iTunes 11.0.4 (4)
    iPhoto '11 9.4.3 (720.91)
    iMovie '11 9.0.9 (1795)
    Keynote '09 5.3 (1170)
    Pages '09 4.3 (1048)
    Numbers '09 2.3 (554)

I have the same problem on a new MacBook Pro. I have not been able to access the iTunes library from iPhoto since I got this computer. I looked in the Preferences file and deleted the com.apple.iApps.plist but there was no com.apple.iApps.lockfile so I just deleted the iAPPs.plist and rebooted the computer.  Still no iTunes available in iPhoto.
All my music is in iTunes and plays. After reading the above I brought up Pages and I was able to access music and insert a track into a document.
    Do you have any suggestions.

  • I would like to erase my ipod touch and then resync it with my existing itunes library, is this possible?

I have a ipod touch that has a different library on it from an old (no longer usable) computer. I have another itunes library on my laptop that is very similiar but not exactly the same as the one on the ipod. Can I erase the ipod and sync it to the existing itunes library on this computer?
And once I do that can I also load my itunes library from my ipod to my new mac??
    thanks

You can restore (via iTunes on your computer) your iPod to factory defaults/new iPod and sync it to any library you want.
You can transfer iTunes purchases from an iPod to any computer w/iTunes by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
You can use one of the third-party programs discussion this previous discussion to transfer non-iTunes purchases to a computer:

  • I can't get my new Macbook to allow me to sync and still keep my phones existing iTunes library. Even though it is the same account it doesn't seem to recognise that my Apple ID is the same

I can't get my new Macbook to allow me to sync and still keep my phones existing iTunes library. Even though it is the same account it doesn't seem to recognise that my Apple ID is the same

If youre like me, I have so many Apple devices, I always move things over manually rather than remember what to sync and what not to sync........ There’s an option to UNCHECK sync on any device if that helps you in ITUNES.
On any device, like your phone, in ITUNES you can check the option for manual vs. automatically sync.

  • I lost my ipod. Bought a used one to replace it. When I plug it into the computer, the computer doesn't even seem to realize it's plugged in. How do I put my existing itunes library onto the new (used) ipod?

How do I clear out a used ipod classic and put my existing itunes library on it? I lost my previous ipod and bought a used one to replace it.

Do one or more of the following
    > Restart your computer
    > Uninstall & Reinstall iTunes
    > Reset iDevice (won't erase everything)
    > Go to My Computer (windows xp) or Computer (windows vista & 7) and see if iDevice shows
    > Restore the iDevice completely (will erase everything)
    > Make sure the iTunes and/or iOS firmware is up-to-date.
The ones I cross over is the ones you don't have to do. This should help

  • How do i transfer my existing itunes library from my imac to my usb memory stick

how do i transfer my existing itunes library from my imac to my usb memory stick

  • I have a new hard drive as my old one crashed. Everything seemed to transfer fine except for my entire iTunes library. It shows all of my old songs, but when I click on one it states "the song could not be used as the original file could not be found

I have a new hard drive as my old one crashed. Everything seemed to transfer fine except for my entire iTunes library. It shows all of my old songs, but when I click on one it states "the song could not be used as the original file could not be found.would you like to locate it".
Either how do I locate it, and I've tried every trick I know, or how do I restore all of my songs from one of two sources. I have my old hard drive backedup on an external drive which should have all of my songs, and I have most of my songs on my old iPhone 3S which I'm using as a backup iPod.

The "missing file" error happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, one of its parent folders, or the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout, or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place. In the case of a library moved from one system to another there are also potential permissions issues. See Repair security permissions for iTunes for Windows.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to Get Info, then click No when asked to try to locate the track. (Due to a bug in iTunes 12 you currently have to say No twice!) Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, a folder renamed, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions. If the difference between the two paths is an additional Music folder in one path then this is a layout issue. I can explain further if that is the case.
In some cases iTunes may be able to repair itself if you go through the same steps with Get Info but this time click Locate and browse to the lost track. It may then offer to attempt to automatically fix other broken links.
If another application like Windows Media Player has moved/renamed the files then the chances are that subtle differences in naming strategies will make it hard to restore the media to the precise path that iTunes is expecting. In such cases, as long as the missing files can be found somewhere, you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes. See this post for an explanation of how it works.

  • Cannot Load Music using existing ITunes Library

I have an existing iTunes library on an external HD that I have updated/synched numerous times to my old iPod. I recently got a shuffle and when I try to add music, the external hard drive becomes disconnected and I am unable to add files to the shuffle using iTunes. I have tried copying the desired files to the harddrive and then dragging and dropping them onto the shuffle outside of iTunes but to no avail...nothing plays when I try this. Can anyone help?

This is the way the ipod works.
Your friends music does not belong to you.  You have no legal right to it.
You need to restore the iphone as new, then sync it to your computer.

There is a preference for syncing  my itunes library to my iphone (4s). When I first synced, it asked me if I wanted to sync everything, but that is too big for my memory.  How do I get back to that window and "sync only marked items"?

The problem was that my iphone was not coming up in my devices list....different socket...better result.

  • Can I create a ringtone for iPhone4S from my existing iTunes library

I just upgraded to iPhone 4S. When I was playing with it briefly, I came across a screen where it looked like you could create a ringtone from exisiting iTunes library music. I can't get back to it. Is this possible? How to? Hope I wasn't dreaming#!

Yes.  You have been able to do this for years.
Google will find several free ways to do this for free, including using itunes.

  • How can I move an existing iTunes library from a Dell PC (which uses Windows Vista) to a MacBook Pro?  I have tried to copy the library from the PC onto a memory stick but cannot move from the stick onto the MacBook Pro.

I have tried to copy my iTunes library from my old (2008) Dell PC to a 32 GB memory stick and then copy it from the stick to the iTunes library in the new MacBook Pro which I purchased recently from a reputable dealer which resells refurbished Macs, (lease returns, etc).  The dealer was Computer Trends store in Saskatoon.  They told me how to move my existing iTunes libary from the PC to the Mac but I cannot seem to achieve that objective.  The Mac does not seem to recognize the memory stick.  I thought the Mac would recognize that the memory stick held iTunes files and would then transfer them without prompting to its own iTunes libary.  It did not do so.  I have therefore tried to find the command sequence within iTunes (on the Mac) for moving the material from the memory stick to the iTunes library.  Cannot find those commands.  Does anybody know where to find such commands.  I have to say, I am really disappointed that such a simple function would prove to be beyond my capabilities.  I thought the Mac was supposed to be easier than a PC.  !!!  Oh well, I am hoping this forum will help !!!

iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
Quick answer if you use iTunes default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Start iTunes with the option (shift on Windows) key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.
So, you can see your whole iTunes folder on the memory stick after copying from the PC?

  • How do you take your existing iTunes Library and move it to an External Drive?

I'm at my capacity of Storage Space on my iMac w/ the majority of memory being used via iTunes.  Is there a way to move my existing Library to my external Hard Drive and still look/run the same as if on my computer?  How can new loaded music/movies/etc. be loaded to that same library on the external drive?  Will I need to do something different in my normal Time Capsule Backup since the Library no longer resides on my computer's Hard Drive?  Many thanks for the help?

at this point, you need to launch iTunes while holding the option (⌥) key, click on choose library when prompted, and select the iTunes folder you copied to the external.
I then went to 'Advanced' in iTunes Preferences and pointed the new folder location to the copied iTunes folder on the external drive.
this only tells iTunes where to put new additions to your library, not where the current content is.
