Keynote shut down i lost my file.

i was using keynote and forgot to save the file. Than the baterry from my computer run down so when i turned it on i had lost my file. Is that a way that i could recover my file. In Windows in PowerPoint system save each 15mins the file in a temporary folder in case that happens is there such thing for Keynote?

see page 33 of the Keynote user manual about backups. There are various ways this is done depending what version of Keynote and OS you have.
There is also TimeMachine if you have that up and running.

• Keynote shuts down when opening document

I have created a Keynote document on my MacBook pro (09 version of KN), I transfer the document to my iPad through iTunes. When I try to view the document Keynote shuts down when I try to open it. I have restored and have latest Mac and iPad OS. iPad KN happily runs the 'Get Sterted with KN' doc supplied with the iPad app.
Advice please.

I agree with you. I try to import ppt file to keynote in my iPad via iTunes. The file size from 2Mb to 24Mb. It failed on every try. Someone in this forum told me to turn iPad off and on before I try to import those files. I did and got same trouble. I even delete keynote and re download keynote. After all those try, I still can not import my file to keynote in my iPad.
I think Apple need to give my money back. I am so disappointment on this application.

• Reader 9 won't let me shut down my computer. File reader_sl won't close.

I have Reader 9 on my machine and when I try to shut down my computer, the file named
reader_sl.exe will not quit. I tried to load Reader X but Adobe tried to load two other programs onto my computer at the same time, programs that I had not agreed to accept. This is an immoral act. Therefore, I aborted the download. How do I get my machine to shut down
without deleting that file and screwing up Reader 9? Or is there a non-Adobe site where
I can download Reader X without being cr..ped on?

Choose Force Quit from the Apple menu and close Safari from there.

Thanks so much Meg. Unfortunately, iTunes is the program I use to perform syncing. I don't really have other outside options. It is also the location of the backup I would use to restore my phone, and my only way to reclaim important data. I am concerned that, since the last backup occurred when the "other" bar was only moderately huge (around 29G I think), that a backup would replicate the problem back onto my phone.
My contacts, etc. are all in address book and the calendar app on my Mac. As far as I know, iTunes is the way to get them back, but iTunes is where the problem is.
Any thoughts on this?

• Audition shuts down when dragging in files from different folders.

Whenever I try to drag in music files (in WAV format) from two separate files, Audition shuts down. It stops responding. How do I fix this?

I suspect changing the audio driver won't make a difference, though it's certainly worth a shot. Generally, when something like this occurs in certain editing modes, but not others, it's related to the Workspaces documents.

It's pretty simple to verify: Open Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Audition\3.0\ and move or rename the two Workspaces folders. (Note: AppData may not be visible by default depending on your configuration, but you can manually append it to the location bar and it should become visible.)

After moving these folders, launch Audition. Audition will rebuild them to the defaults. Let us know if the problem still occurs.

Thanks,
Durin

• AI shutting down when I save files...

Not sure if anyone here may be able to help with this problem, but I'll try..
I recently replaced some of my PC hardware and had to reinstall Windows and CS3 etc. Ever since, Illustrator seems to be able to work fine when I start a new document and save it. However, if I even just open any document I created before I reinstalled and then try to save a file in AI (new or old), I get an error message telling me "Illustrator has encountered a problem and needs to be shut down."
I've tried Saving As under a different name/file type, copying/pasting content from the old document into a new one - doesn't work. Just opening any old file makes this error come up when I save.
Every other program in CS3 seems fine - only Illustrator has given me this problem.
Any help??

I never had a printer.. I installed a scanner recently but this was happening before that so I don't think that's it.
I tried reinstalling Illustrator as well but it didn't help.
How would I reinstate everything back to the way it was? I assume reinstalling it would've done that?
Someone else told me it might have something to do with scripting? Does that make any sense??

I have a problem when exporting files from iPhoto. Everytime I export a file, it shuts down with the following error message. I tried to find the answer in the forum, but i only found something with deleting an HPPsomething explorer file, which i cannot find. It might be not there.

It did a great deal, but perhaps not for this particular
problem.
Do you have these pages live somewhere? Can you post a link

• Iweb Shuts Down While Updating Domain File

I have a 1.67 GHz PowerPC G4 Powerbook.
I recently upgraded to ILife 08.
When iWeb tries to update the Domain File, it crashes and shuts down . . .
Does anyone have any experience with this and if so, how does one go about fixing this problem?

1. Quit iWeb
2. Delete the following file:
Home Folder/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iweb.plist
3. Relaunch iWeb
If that doesn’t work delete the file again and restart your Mac.
1. Go to Applications/Utilities
2. Open Disk Utility
3. Click Macintosh HD
4. Click on Verify Disk Permissions
5. Click Repair Disk Permissions.

• T61 Shuts down while converting video files

I've got a T61, 6459-CTO. specs in my sig.
I'm trying to convert .mkv files to .avi, so I can stream them to an xbox 360. However, sometime during the conversion, my computer will just shut down. Just straight to black, it doesn't run the shutdown sequence or anything.
During the conversion, my CPU is running at 100%. I've tried two different programs (both coincidentally have the same GUI, so they may be related) and the same thing happens. I'm figuring its an overheating issue. I wanted to get a couple opinions first before I open it up and try and clean it. I'm thinking some compressed air to the fan might help.
Any other opinions? Help is appreciated.
T61 15.4" T9300 (2.5GHz 6MB L2) Windows 7 Professional x64 4GB Memory, NVidia Quadro NVS 140M

go **bleep** to work, had to get a newer version.
Anyway, currently, as I type, the CPU temp is 68C, gpu is 68. Within about 20 seconds of starting the intel burn test, the cpu got up to 101, gpu to 68. I turned it off once it topped 100, figured I knew its a heating problem.
However, what could be the issue? Do you think its a dirty fan or clogged vents?

• PS5.1 shuts down right after opening file.

PS shutss down right after opening jpeg and other files. Win7 32bit.... What gives?

Most likely a bad font. Do you have any 3rd party fonts?
Also could be driver for video card, printer, scanner.
If these are all OK check your Event Log (see OS help)

• Problems shutting down and getting 'Error -39 when trying to open my files

After working all evening using my Macbook Pro, I close out all my programs and shut down the computer.
However, the computer refuses to shut down. The screen freezes and just sits there. After about 10 minutes of waiting I eventually hold down the power button to shut the computer off.
When I restart the MacBook Pro and try to open the file I was working on, I get the following error. 'While attempting to access [FILE], the file manager reported an error -39.'
Why does this keep happening?
MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4 GB Ram MHz DDR3
Mac OS X 10.5.8
Finale 2010
Logic Studio 9
Yamaha PSR-310 via Midi Interface
null

I don't think you're having an Apple hard disk issue, because your other applications are working without problems.
I believe you are getting the corrupted file(s) (End of file, Error -39) because you are powering off the computer before the application and the computer have completely shut down.
I can't tell you why it is happening, but I suspect that the Finale application is being extremely slow to shut down, and it is leaving the '.mus' file open until it quits.
*Kostby, thanks so much for your reply. I actually work for a software company, so I asked a few people around here and they agree with you. For some reason, the application is taking a very, very long time to quit, and it's causing the computer to keep running instead of shutting down.*
Perhaps some file was corrupted in the old version of the Finale application was carried over with the upgrade? Have you tried reinstalling the application?
*I haven't, but this is a good idea. I will completely remove the program and start over.*
Hardware...
I notice that the keyboard dates from 2006/2007.
*Actually, it's from 1993 (time flies...)*
Is the midi interface Firewire or USB?
USB
Does the midi interface ever cause an error or a 'hang' with or without the keyboard?
*Not that I'm aware of. I haven't used it in awhile, and it's not been connected to the computer in weeks.*
Are there software drivers needed to make the Midi interface work with the Mac.
*No, I simply plugged it in and it worked. No extra software or drivers needed.*
Are the drivers old? (e.g. 10.4.x or 10.5.3)
N/A
Have you tried saving the file to a USB flash drive, rather than a physical hard disk?
*I haven't, but I'll need to save a few tonight if I do a reinstall of Finale.*
Powering off vs suspending vs leaving it run...
Do you get the 'spinning beachball' (spindump) when Finale apparently hangs?
*No spinning beachball. The desktop simply freezes...*
What happens if you leave it on for an hour or overnight after the apparent 'hang'?
*Never done that. Longest I've left it alone during the 'hang' has been about 15 minutes.*
Does the screen ever come back and let you use the computer again?
*After 15 minutes I would hit the power button and force it to shut off. I've never allowed it to go on for this long. I just thought if it didn't come back after 15 minutes it wasn't ever coming back.*
Does the file corruption occur when you suspend the application by closing the lid, rather than shutting it off?
*I've never just closed the lid on my Macbook Pro. I've always either set it to sleep or shut down and waited for it to do so before closing the lid.*
Thanks again for the great suggestions. I will try them all this evening when I get home from work.
Best,
Dana
