Keystrokes in a Combo Box at next position

Hi,
a simple problem with a Combo Box (C/S 6i) but a great solution ? :
In a Form there is a Combo Box with 3 values: { 'AA' | 'AB' | 'BB' }.
The user wishes following selection principle:
     1. keystroke 'A' -> [ 'AA']
     2. keystroke 'B' -> [ 'AB'] that is it, ok.
But the Forms Combo Box give us : ['BB'] - every keystroke in the Combo Box is defined on first position.
Every keystroke in the Combo Box must define at next position in the item here.
Can I latch the keystrokes to define a workaround about a trigger or another solution ?
Thank you,
Friedhold

Thank you Grant for your suggestion.
The solution is with a 2. Item named ECHO:
-- W-L-C Trigger --
DECLARE
total_list_count NUMBER(3);
ix NUMBER(2)      :=      1;
list_element      VARCHAR2(50);
list_element_value      VARCHAR2(50);
compare VARCHAR2(50):= :GEMARKUNG; -- INPUT - Item: Combo Box
element_match      VARCHAR2(5) :=      'FALSE';
list_id           ITEM;
BEGIN
-- List Item : Combo - Box --
-- Restriction : List-value = List-element
list_id:= FIND_ITEM('GEMARKUNG');
total_list_count := Get_List_Element_Count(list_id);
-- Compare the current list item elements with the element that
-- will be added.
LOOP
list_element := Get_List_Element_Value(list_id, ix);
IF UPPER(compare) = UPPER(substr(list_element,1,length(compare))) THEN
     element_match := 'TRUE';
     EXIT;
END IF;
EXIT WHEN ix = total_list_count;
ix := ix + 1;
END LOOP;
-- IF matched then ECHO-Item := List_Element_Value --
if element_match='TRUE' then
     :ECHO:= list_element;
end if;
bell;
END; -- W-L-C Trigger --
The user can see the founded value from the List Item (Combo Box) in the ECHO Item.
Kind Regards
Friedhold

  • Populate 2nd combo box based on value selected in 1st combo box

    I am still using Acrobat 6 though I may be upgrading soon to Acrobat 8. I have a form with two combo boxes, the first "state" has values of MN and WI. Based on which value the user picks I would like to populate a "county" combo box with lists of counties that we deal with.
    Thanks,
    Gene

    One can set the option and export value using an arry:<br /><br />// document level script<br />// Master List of Lists <br />// Each entry in this object listeral is the name of a State <br />//Manually enter the State Names into the state field combo box <br />// The associated value is the item list, where each item is a name value pair, [<County> and [county code, zip code]] <br /><br />// state: ["county name", ["county code", "zip code"]]<br />var oStateNames = {MN: [["-", ["", ""] ], <br />                       ["St. Louis", ["MNStl", "55001"] ], <br />                       ["Carlton", ["MNSCrl", "55002"] ], <br />                       ["Pine", ["MNPin", "55003"] ],<br />                       ["Cook", ["MNCok", "55004"] ] <br />                       ], <br />                   WI: [["-", [" ", " "] ],<br />                        ["Douglas", ["WIDou", "55005"] ] ,<br />                        ["Bayfield", ["WIBay", "55006"] ],<br />                        ["Burnette", ["WIBur", "55007"] ],<br />                        ["Ashland", ["WIAsh", "55008"] ]<br />                       ]<br />                     }; <br /><br />//SetCountyEntries() on keystroke entry in state field <br />function SetCountyEntries() <br />{ <br />   if(event.willCommit) <br />   { <br />      // Get the new counties list from the Master List <br />      // Since the selection is being committed, <br />      // event.value contains the State name <br />      var lst = oStateNames[event.value]; <br />      // Clear the county list if there are no counties for the selected state <br />      this.getField("ee.address.county").clearItems();<br />      this.resetForm(["ee.address.code", "ee.address.zip"]);<br />      if( (lst != null) && (lst.length > 0) )<br />           this.getField("ee.address.county").setItems(lst); // set opiton and export value<br />   } <br />} <br />//  end document level script<br /><br />For the combo box "ee.address.county" one can create an array from the export value to populate the county code and zip code<br /><br />// custom keystroke for county combo box<br />if(event.willCommit & event.value != "") {<br />// split county and zip codes<br />var aCodes = this.getField(event.target.name).value.split(",");<br />this.getField("ee.address.code").value = aCodes[0];<br />this.getField("ee.address.zip").value = aCodes[1];<br />}<br />// end custom key stroke code

  • Cany you link a combo box to a submit form button?

    This question pertains to Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard.
    On my form, I have a combo box that lists 5 names and a button that I want to use to submit the form via email.
    Based on the combo box selection, I want the submit button (when pressed) to submit the completed form directly to the email address that corresponds to the name selected.
    Is there a way to do this?
    Any help will be greatly appreciated!

    The Industry combo box contains the following keystroke script:
    // Custom Keystroke script for combo box
    (function () {
    if (!event.willCommit) {
    // Set up an array for arrays of industry corresponding to export values in this combo box
    var aIndustry = [];
    aIndustry[0] = ["--"]
    aIndustry[1] = ["Jen H"];
    aIndustry[2] = ["Al M"];
    aIndustry[3] = ["Steve T"];
    aIndustry[4] = ["Al M, Jen H, Steve T, Glen P"];
    aIndustry[5] = ["Al M"];
    aIndustry[6] = ["Al M"];
    aIndustry[7] = ["Steve T"];
    aIndustry[8] = ["Jen H"];
    aIndustry[9] = ["Glen P"];
    aIndustry[10] = ["Al M, Jen H, Steve T, Glen P"];
    aIndustry[11] = ["Steve T"];
    aIndustry[12] = ["Al M"];
    aIndustry[13] = ["Jen H"];
    aIndustry[14] = ["Jen H"];
    aIndustry[15] = ["Al M"];// Get the export value of the selected item
    var ex_val = event.changeEx;
    // Populate the combo box field with the industry
    getField("BD Executive").setItems(aIndustry[ex_val]);
    When one of the 15 industries are selected, the Executive field automatically populates with one of four names (or, in two instances, all four names).
    Let's say I choose Construction as my Industry.  The Executive field automatically has Jen H's name.
    When the form is complete and I click the Submit Button, I want it to submit the form by e-mail directly to Jen H.
    So do I have to enter a script somewhere within the Executive field or the Submit Button field?
    Please excuse my ignorance.  I'm very, very new to this.
    Thanks again for everything!!!

  • Combo/list box image next to option

    Hi,
    I'm trying to display an image (small icon) within a drop
    down/combo/list box in a form. I've not found a simple way of doing
    it and wondered if anyone could advise of an easy way to do this
    seemingly simple task ?
    The result I'm after can be seen here:
    http://dhtmlx.com/docs/products/dhtmlxCombo/index.shtml
    of the five combo boxes displayed I'm after the 'combo box
    with icons' result. The method used on this page to acheive the
    effect seems a bit overkill for my requirement, otherwise I'd
    try/use it. I've looked at the page source, but nothing is revealed
    regarding the html/css used to do it.
    I'd appreciate anyone advising a simple way to do this.
    Many thanks.

    If your page is asp then the code below will do what you
    want. Now when a
    user selects a country then that country id will be entered
    into a cookie.
    then when the user goes to other pages on your site you can
    have if else
    statements to show language of your choice.
    if you need the country flag icons go to ip2location.com they
    will give them
    for free.

  • Jsp combo box

    Hi,
    I am new to jsps and i would like to know how to check the property value in jsp.
    I would like to create a combo box and based on what they select i would like to show either textfield or combo box. I mean hiding one and showing another one.
    my code looks some thing like this
    <html:select property="search" >
    <html : option value="itemname"></html:option>
    <html : option value="itemnumber"></html:option>
    So if i select "item name" i would like to display one more combo box or if i select "item number" then i would like to display textfield.
    So could some one please suggest me how to check the value and create these fields.
    Appreciate your help,
    Thanks

    You have three options.
    You may submit the form back to the server after the user selects the item name option. The server then generates and sends back to the user a page with the next combo box. Alternatively, if the user selects the item number option, send a new page with the text field.
    You may use JavaScript and DHTML to literally redraw the page depending on the user's choice. This is not Java related and kinda hard to get working just right, so I won't describe how to do it here. If you decide you absolutely must do this option, there are several JavaScript web sites that will gladly give you some sample code in exchange for some credit.
    Lastly, you can redesign your entire form such that you don't need to hide "the other option." I think you'll find that most web sites do it this way. For example, there will be two clearly separated and marked tables, each with their own submit buttons, and one table will say "Find an Item by Name" and the other will say "Find an Item by Number."
    I personally like the last option best because I can see at a glance what all of my options are, as opposed to having to click buttons to see what I can do, and then the back button if that's not what I want. I will admit that your suggestion would look cool, though.
    Sorry, I wish I could be of more positive help.

  • I have NO scripting experience but am attempting to create "cascading combo box" with two boxes.

    I have copied and edited to the best of my ability several options but keep getting errors, mostly illegal character on line...
    I do not have LifeCycle, merely Adobe Acrobat IX (and a trial version of Acrobat XI PRO) and the extent of my knowledge ends at placing fields, text, etc. . .
    The scenario is as follows:
    On the document, there are two combo boxes
    1- "DeptName"
    2- "Position"
    The goal is to be able to select one of 15 different departments, and based on that selection, choose from between 2 to 15 different positions for that corresponding department.
    Below is what I was hopeful would work, but alas - FAIL!!
    If anyone could assist it would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!
    myDeptNameValues =
    "ADMINISTRATION – RSADMN (8171)",
    "BEVERAGE – RSBEV (8174)",
    "CATERING – RCCAT (8959)",
    "CLUB – RSCLB (8174)",
    "CONCESSIONS – RCCON (8961)",
    "CONCESSIONS – RSCON (8173)",
    "CULINARY – RSKIT (8177)",
    "FACILITIES – RSFAC (6925)",
    "RETAIL – RSRET (8175)",
    "SUITES – RSSTE (8177)",
    "VENDING – RSVND (8173)",
    "WAREHOUSE – RSWHS (8173)"
    this.getField("DeptName").setItems(myDeptNameValues);
    var DeptData =
    ADMINISTRATION – RSADMN (8171):["Teller","Security"],
    BEVERAGE – RSBEV (8174):["Bartender","Barback"],
    CATERING – RCCAT (8959):["Banquet Server",”Banquet Captain"],
    CLUB – RSCLB (8174):["Cashier","Counter","Cook","In Seat Server","Runner","Stand Manager"],
    CONCESSIONS – RCCON (8961):["Counter","Cashier","Cook","Runner","Beer Attendant/SMC","Stand Lead","Supervisor"],
    CONCESSIONS – RSCON (8173):["Counter","Cashier","Cook","Runner","Beer Attendant/SMC","Stand Lead","Supervisor"],
    CULINARY – RSKIT (8177):["Cook 1 – Entry Level","Cook 2 – Advanced Level","Cook 3 – Lead Cook","Kitchen Supervisor","Steward"],
    FACILITIES – RSFAC (6925):["Lead – Blower/Press","Cleaning Services Worker"],
    RETAIL – RSRET (8175):["Warehouse","Supervisor","Warehouse Supervisor","Vendors/Hawkers","Senior Supervisor","Associates"],
    SUITES – RSSTE (8177):["Suite Attendant","Ice Cream Cart Attendant","Runner","ReOrder Clerk","Suite Captain","Pantry Supervisor"],
    VENDING – RSVND (8173):["Vendor","Vendor Filler","Alcohol Compliance Supervisor","Auditor","Level Supervisor","Senior Supervisor"],
    WAREHOUSE – RSWHS (8173):["Runner","Supervisor"]
    function SetFieldValues(cDeptName)
    this.getField("Position").setItems(DeptData[cDeptName]);
    The above code was placed in the document script.  Within the format area of the "DeptName" box, I have the following code placed in the keystroke script.
    if( event.willCommit )
    if(event.value == "")
    this.getField("box2").clearItems();
    else
    SetFieldValues(event.value);
    I have spent the past four days, more than 18 hours in the last two alone trying to nail this down and I can't explain how completely defeated I feel, not to mention frustrated.
    Again, thanks for your help!!

    I suppose I am not meant to figure this out.  I am trying my absolute hardest to accomplish compiling this document without having to resort to asking someone to do it for me as I have noticed in a few other threads, but it just seems to get more frustrating.  I have accomplished the first thing I set out to do and I completely appreciate your assistance with that.  My issue now is that i have other text fields I want to automatically fill based on the selection of the very same DeptName combo box.  I can make the cascading/dependent box work with the initial DeptName box, or all the additional text fields with the DeptName box, but cannot seem to accomplish having them work together.  I have been working daily, reading blogs/forums, watching videos all in an effort to complete this before it's needed on Feb. 2.
    Is it possible to make 7 text fields and a combo box(B) fill based on the selection of a separate combo box (A), and then have 5 more text fields automatically fill based on the selection from the secondary box (B)?  I can make it all happen individually, meaning only the text fields for one box or the combo box (A to b) but not in conjunction.

    This is the file, if it helps to see what I'm hoping to accomplish

  • Help needed: triggering a combo box selection

    I'm new to creating forms in Acrobat (Acrobat 9 on Mac). I'm trying to create a form for my department where a student selects a faculty name from a combo box, and once the value is selected, another field is filled with an int value (course section number).
    Question: what is the correct trigger for executing the javascript for this? Mouse up seems to trigger too early and the others don't seem appropriate.
    I think my rudimentary JavaScript knowledge can get me far enough to check the value and the use a switch/if to prefill the int value in the other field, so the correct trigger is my current issue.
    Thanks in advance.

    I found where it's supposed to be stored, but I'm having some issues with missing ().  I'm using Acrobat X Pro for Windows Vista.  There was a post that I've spent the last 2 hours looking for that had a modified code that added in missing (), and now I can't find it   Any help would be greatly appreciated. through all our subjects.  Do I need to leave the lists of var nSUBJItems and var nNUMTitle separate, or is the way I have them (subject followed by titles in each subject) okay?
    Then, I made the keystroke codes.  Do they go in the Document level as well, or do they go in the keystroke event or both?  Right now, I just have them as a doc level code because I can't save the document level code without fixing the () error.  I'd just like to know ahead of time.

    this.getField("Title").value = nSelExp;

  • Display issue with Combo Boxes and Logo

    Hi All,
    I am facing a couple of issues with my dashboard:
    1. Combo boxes display - I have placed a series of combo boxes one below the other. During the preview, when I click on the first combo box, the values spread below. That is, the labels, and options of the next combo box are also visible. The options in the combo box are not seen clearly. I have tried many permutations and combinations with "Bring Forward +" and "Send Back -" but none of them seem to work. For example, keeping the first combo as bring forward and next one as send back etc. Can you please help me in this regard?
    2. Logo - I have used image component and embedded a logo from my local system. Later I saved the xlf in the repository. When I import the xlf from the platform, it displays the logo fine. But however, this behavior is not constant. It sometimes doesn't show the image. Do I have to save the image also in the repository? or in a common shared folder? If I embed the logo does it not mean that the xlf hold the copy?
    Any help in this regards is highly appreciated.
    Thanks and regards,
    Sandeep.

    Hi:
       For your question
    1) Do you need your combox overlapped? I tried to overlap my comb box and preview it, seems works fine for me. it only chooses the first comb box. But I am suggesting that if you want to show/hide the different combox in the same position at run time, you can try to control the visibility by some other component.
    2) The answer is NO, the image embedded in the image component will be saved to xlf file, there is no need to save it individually. Try to clean your cache files in your machine and do it again.
    Hope it helps.

  • IPhone SDK - What is the equivalent of a combo box

    I have a screen where there are quite a few items which are of the multiple-choice type. In other platforms i use a combo box (pick lists) to do this.
    On the iPhone SDK the only thing that comes close is the UIPicketView which is ugly IMHO. it takes too much real estate and too heavy.
    Is this is the only control available now?
    Also does the UIPicker come with an associated control which will launch the picker? What i mean is on other platforms and on the web there is a text field with a button with a down arrow next to it. Clicking either on the text field or the down arrow drops the list down. Is there a similar control on the iPhone which when clicked launches the picker OR do i have to create a button or a custom view which will launch the picker?
    Thanks for reading this and for your feedback.

    I do not believe there is an equivalent of -D in the DB JVM, a possible solution is:
    Load a properties file into the DB using Loadjava, then open this file from your Java code using Properties.load(), then iterate the properties calling System.setProperty().

  • How to use the Combo Box In MAtrix Colums

    HI Experts,
    Good Mornong.How to use the Combo Box In MAtrix Colums?
    Regards And Thanks,
    M.Thippa Reddy

    hi,
    loading data in to the combobox on form load.but, it should be done when atleast one row is active.
    the values what ever you are inserting in to combo should  be less than or eqhal to 100 or 150.if it exceeds beyond that performance issue arises.it takes more time to load all the data.so, it is better to have 100 or less.
    oMatrix.AddRow()
    RS = Nothing
    RS = ocompany.GetBusinessObject(SAPbobsCOM.BoObjectTypes.BoRecordset)
    RS.DoQuery("select ItemCode,ItemName from oitm")
    oCombo = oMatrix.Columns.Item("ColumnUID").Cells.Item(oMatrix.RowCount).Specific
    For i = 1 To RS.RecordCount
          If RS.EoF = False Then
                oCombo.ValidValues.Add(RS.Fields.Item("ItemCode").Value,RS.Fields.Item("ItemName").Value)
                RS.MoveNext()
          End If
    Next
    the above code is inserting data from database to column combobox.
    you can fill combo directly also as shown below.
    oCombo.ValidValues.Add("x","1")
    oCombo.ValidValues.Add("y","2")
    oCombo.ValidValues.Add("z","3")
    oCombo.ValidValues.Add("","")
    and what ever the values you are filling into combo should be unique.other wise it shows valid value exists.

  • Resetting a combo box

    I have added a combo box to the invoice form and populated the validvalues collection with a list of warehouses for the user to choose from.  This only appears in Add mode.
    Everything works well except after adding an invoice, when all the SAP fields are reset to blanks or their default values,  the combo box still has the value that the user selected from the previous invoice.  I would like to have the box be empty (as it is when the form is first displayed).
    Does anyone know how to do this?  SBO 2005  - Thanks in advance!

    Hi John Chadwick
    You can try the following
    try
           If oCombo.ValidValues.Count > 0 Then
                    oCombo.ValidValues.Add("", "")
                    oCombo.Select(oCombo.ValidValues.Count - 1, SAPbouiCOM.BoSearchKey.psk_Index)
                    For i = 0 To oCombo.ValidValues.Count - 1
                        oCombo.ValidValues.Remove(0, SAPbouiCOM.BoSearchKey.psk_Index)
                    Next i
                End If
    catch ex as exception
    'leave blank
    end try
    Hope this helps

    data at this point will be some number between 0 and 7 and
    your appended
    return.
    > WriteExtFile("list2.txt", data)
    >
    > Read the data from txt :
    > data := ReadExtFile("list2.txt")
    This will again be a string that contains a number and a
    return.
    > Convert string to list :
    > id_list := [:]
    Before, you are populating id_list with a single number that
    is the _ID_ of
    the winCtrl . Now, you are changing it to an empty property
    list. Why?
    > AddProperty(data^id_list,controls ,GetLine(data,1))
    The first parameter of AddProperty is supposed to be the name
    of a variable
    which is a property list. As such, you couldn't use a
    concatenated
    expression there. Even if you could, an Authorware variable
    cannot begin
    with a number, which data always will in this instance. It
    also cannot
    contain a return. _And_ the characters "[:]" are not valid
    parts of a
    variable name either. Next, you're trying to add a property
    that looks
    something like:
    "Button\rCheckBox\rCheckListBox\rColorCombo\rComboBox\rDriveCombo\rEdit..."
    While a property list _can_ have strings instead of symbols
    as the keys to
    the values, this is not documented or officially supported.
    Even if it
    were, you _cannot_ have a key with returns in it, and I have
    no idea why
    you'd want to!
    Here are the steps you should be using:
    1) Create your WinCtrl and store its ID in a regular numeric
    value (I'll
    call it wcID for convenience)
    2) Set its Items property to listing.
    3) Check for the existence (FileType) of your file with the
    value of the
    winCtrl in it. If it exists, set the value property of wcID
    to the contents
    of the file.
    4) You're using wcS as your change event, so set up a
    conditional on false
    to true with wcS as the condition.
    5) Inside that response, write the "value" property (without
    the return) of
    the wcID control to file.

  • No connections in the combo box of Infobus Data Form Wizard?

    I have a similar problem using JDBC-ODBC bridge with MS access

  • Combo box not behaving like it should

    I have a form in which I have 4 combo boxes that have more or less the same choices, however there is one that is common to all 4 (E078).
    When "E078" is selected in any of the combo box, a new combo box will appear (and a white rectangle will be hidden so that the new combo box title can be seen). It works when I select that in one or more combo box, however to make it disappear I have to select some other choice in the same combo box twice!!! If I select anything only once, it will not make the new combo box hidden, but if re-select something (same or another choice) then the combo box will disappear!
    I am at lost, and would be very thankful if someone could make it work seamlessly. I mean it works, nut it is just inconvenient and I cannot tell the user to make select something else twice if they want the field to disappear.
    Here is my form:

    When you use event.value in a combo box's Validate event it does not give you the export value, which is what you want. It is easier to use place the code in a custom Keystroke script where you can use the event.changeEx property to retrieve the export value of the selected item. • Simple combo box question

    I have Flash MX 2004 Pro. I want to create a
    movie/graphic/button ( not sure which one yet) of a county
    (obviously from a state map) and I want to have all of the counties
    (over 40) listed in a Combo Box. I would like the Combo box to
    automatically be updated/populated every time I create a
    movie/graphic/button of a county. I would like to be able to click
    on a county name in the combo box and have the county highlighted.
    While the graphic part is doable, I am asking for help with the
    scripts.
    One more thing: I have a text box that I want to have data
    displayed only for the specific county. So I am thinking of
    creating a text box that is invisible in the State swf but will be
    viewable when the county is selected (mouse over or thru the combo
    box). Do I have to use the scripts to make it viewable when the
    movie is selected?
    Is this even possible with my version of Flash and if so,
    does anyone have some codes I can look at?
    Thanks.

    As far as the text goes, there are several ways to do that.
    Simplest way is to make the text visible when rolled over and
    invisible when rolled out. That way you get the text positioned and
    formated the way you want. It isn't the best method in terms of
    maintenance. A better method is have one text clip that you can
    position in relation to the (x,y) coordinates of the highlighted
    county and pull the text for the county from an array. The latter
    requires more script but is easier to go back and change since all
    you do is update an array.
    I just noticed a line in the onRollOut
    this[this._parent._name + "menu"].selectedIndex = 0;
    that will serve you no purpose whatsoever. I missed deleting
    that from the script I modified to post to you. It doesn't hurt
    anything since it targets nothing you have
