Kids deleting appointments on Family Calendar

Hi everyone,
I've setup the Family Sharing and we are all updated to IOS 8.1.2 on all of our devices - MAC / 2 X iPhone 5S / 2 X iPad 2 / 2 X iPod.
We are sharing the calendar amongst the four of us - I have two adults and two children set up.  Last night I set up a season for one of my son's basketball games on the family calendar.  The other son deleted these on his iPod since they did not apply to him.
HOWEVER - this deleted the events on all the devices.
My question - is there a way to block children from deleting family calendar events so we don't miss appointments?

AHA!!  From the self help section!!
Open iCalendar on your MAC.
Right click on 'Family Calendar'
Click on 'Sharing Settings'
Set the kids to 'View only'
thans for all your help, NO ONE!!

    Hi jordanpaulbrown,
I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the exact configuration you are currently using/describing. If you are talking about My Photo Stream, you should be aware that it only stores stores photos for 30 days in order to allow for other device to connect and download the photos. If you would like to keep them long term off of your iPhone, you may want to set up your computer (Mac or Windows) to automatically download them. You may find the following article helpful:

If you are running iOS 8 on your iPhone, you may also find the following article about changes to Photos useful:

  • Think the bridge deleted appointments / also missing add attendee to appointments now on my bold calendar

I noticed on several occasions that my playbook calendar and bold calendar were not in sync. Appointments were missing on the playbook. Now it appears that the bridge has deleted appointments on my playbook/bold and the deletion has replicated through our bes so the appointments are missing in outlook.
I also no longer have the ability to add attendees to appointments on my bold. I can view attendee avail - but can't invite.
My bold/bes/outlook has been really reliable for years. The playbook is a new addition and as when playbook was added that's when I noticed these problems.
    Bold is 9700 v 6.0.0.576
    bridge is 1.0.6.5
    playbook is 1.0.7.2942
    bes is 5.something
    outlook is 2010

Further clarification - the appointments aren't deleted from my Outlook Calendar - it's that appoints where i was invited no longer display onthe phone or through the bridge. Basic meetings where I invite someone appears - but meetings with multiple attendees no longer appear on the phone and bridge.

  • Multiple family calendars

I left a family share with my brother and started one with my wife and son.  I now have multiple family calendars on both my Mac and phone.  The normal method for deleting old calendars does not work on the family calendars.  How do I remove the old family calendar?

I was able to logout and log back in to iCloud services.  The old family calendars went away.

  • How do I get the shared Family calendar to show up with Family Sharing enabled?

    Hi,
I've enabled Family Sharing and added a couple of my kids, but none of us are seeing a new shared "Family' calendar. I'm just seeing my original calendar list, unchanged since enabling family sharing. I've tried signing out of iCloud and back in as the usual fix for these things There's no Family calendar anywhere: on my phone, on my laptop or on iCloud.com. Is there anything I have to do or can do to get to show up?
    Thanks
    Mark

You may have to update NIS and reenable the toolbar add-on via '''Tools''' ('''Alt''' + '''T''') > '''Add-ons''', click Extensions on the left. The disbaled add-ons are listed towards the bottom. • Family Sharing and family calendar ???

I've read that the Family Sharing feature in iOS 8 offers a family calendar.  Looking for some guidance on how it works pls.
We have four family members in our household, and each person has their own separate iCloud ID: [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] and [email protected]  This allows each of us to have a separate email address, separate 5GB of storage, etc.  I have set up Family Sharing on all our devices.  I am the Family Organizer (in Apple terminology).
In addition to the separate calendar that each of us has with our individual iCloud ID's, my understanding is that we also can have a family calendar that all four of us can share.  I guess this would be a 5th calendar in our case: our four individual calendars plus the family calendar.  But I do not know how to set up the family calendar.  And once set up, I do not know how to specify that an entry should go on the family calendar versus going on my individual calendar.
    Advice welcome.

    Hi pomme4moi,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
When you set up Family Sharing and added your family members, this should have created a shared iCloud calendar called Family that the other four iCloud accounts can use.
Family Sharing creates a family calendar where everyone can view, add, or change events and appointments, and they can also get an alert when something changes. And anyone can use the Reminders app to send time or location reminders to the family. So when it’s picture day, pizza night, or just a trip to the beach, everyone’s in the know.
    From:
    Family Sharing
You can add an event to the Family calendar by adding the event as normal:
Add an event. Tap , then fill in the event details.
    From:
Calendar at a glance - iPhone
From the add an event screen, swipe down and tap Calendar, then choose Family to add the event you're creating to the shared family calendar.
    Best Regards,
    Jeremy

  • My Iphone 3gs no longer keeps my past appointments in my calendar

I seem to be losing my appointments in my calendar.  Each time a new month starts the month from four months ago is now blank which means I have no record of any appointments I made in the past????
how do I get them back?

The iPhone itself never deletes calendar entries. However, the calendar you are syncing it to probably has an automatic delete after a period of time. How to select this is different for each calendar app on your computer.

  • Deleted Appt still on calendar

I had a repeating appointment on my calendar. I deleted it and it is gone from my MacBook calendar but still shows in iPhone calendar with no edit button or way to delete it. Can anyone help?

Hi, I followed your advice and deleted the calendar onthe iPhone. When the phone rebooted, I turned the calendar back on and the same deleted appointments reappeared.
The recurring appointment has disappeared from my Macbook calendar which syncs with the iPhone calendar through iCloud.
    Suggestions?
    Regards,
    Jay

  • All my appointments on my calendar and my reminders disappeared

I was just using my ipad and all of a sudden all of my reminders and my appointments in my calendar disappeared/deleted.  Where did they go??? I don't use iCloud or sync anything. I shut off and restarted and its like they were never there. What happened?

I just ran into this same problem.  Did anyone ever respond to you to tell you how to fix this?

I feel better knowing I wasn't going crazy this morning. After spending the last 15 hours tweaking iTunes Match, I was afraid the service was draining my battery, but then I just let it sit idle on my desk at work and periodicaly checked it, every 30 minutes I lost 5% when it was in standby. When I was checking mail in 5 minutes, the battery drained 1% each minute. After a full night charge last night the day of standby has brought me down to 43%. I normally charge my 4s every other night, and I listen to Pandora and TuneIn Radio regularly. I have a feeling it hasn't affected everyone, just like I had no issue before, but clearly have a massive issue now.
SERIOUSLY, APPLE. Make an announcement acknowledging this garbage. If my device doesn't get its normal battery life back, the poor folks at my local Apple Store are going to have my family and I raging the place.

  • IPhone is deleting appointments from iCal at random times.

I have had my iPhone 4 recently replaced when I restored it the calendar deleted many appointments. Now the phone is randomly deleting appointments at all times. I use this feature to track much of my important information and am very frustrated.  This had gotten worse since the update last week.

I am being told through the genius bar that this has been caused by using a Yahoo calendar. Any thoughts?

  • Remove icloud calendar events from Family calendar in Family Sharing

I accidentally imported some events into my Family calendar in icloud and now I can't delete them.  Is there any way to delete all of the entries from the default calendar for Family Sharing?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
A number of users have noted this. iCloud.com is essentially the master (or so I've always assumed), so clearly the events are there and you are just unable to see them. I'd be inclined not to start changing things until a solution is found.

  • Subscribe to family calendar

I am trying to find a way to subscribe to my family sharing family calendar in google calendar so that I can see my family appointments when I am in google calendar on my laptop.

Yes, it's possible, but it might not be what you're wanting. The problem is that push sync doesn't work (yet?) with subscribed calendars. See the article here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1213
The way I've been able to work around this is to disable push, or "over-the-air" sync, and then only sync calendars when syncing over the USB cable. To do this, on your iPhone to go Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> then for each of your accounts (or in my case, just for .Mac), set 'Calendars' to Off.
Then in iTunes, with your iPhone connected, sync your iPhone once, then go to the Info tab for your iPhone, and make sure the settings for "Sync iCal Calendars" is enabled for the right calendars.
I've been checking back on that knowledge base article about once a month, and have yet to see any sign that Apple has fixed this problem. A search through the discussions shows that lots of folks are wanting push sync for subscribed calendars to work, so we are not alone!
    I hope this helps.

  • I'm managing several devices from my itunes account.  If I delete a song from my iphone, will it also be deleted from other family member's devices and itunes?

I'm managing several devices from my itunes account.  If I delete a song from my iphone, will it also be deleted from other family member's devices as well as in itunes?

Ok, thanks!  I'm pretty new to having multiple apple products.  Another question though, if I delete, say Christmas music, from my device and it is still in itunes, will it automatically sync back to my device next time I sync it?

  • How do I delete multiple events in Calendar on iPhone or iCloud?

If I want to delete multiple events in Calendar on iPhone or iCloud, is there any way to do it?
I don't want to be clicking / tapping for hours...
    Thank you!

    Unfortunately, I don't believe that's possible.
