KISS DP-558 Web Radio

Few months ago WEB radio feature stopped to work right.
Actually it seems like KISS server is UP but just not allowing to stream radio.
When I navigate to MENU-Online-KISS Web radio in my player, it loads the webradio3 interface and shows this information like it supposed to be:
Welcome to WebRadio3
Streams online: 365
Last database update: 2010-07-06 06:59:09
System status: Database online
I can browse through the station lists, genres, countries, favorites etc. like normal. Also when I choose any station, I can see all usual info like station name, listener count online... So everything looks good, except there's no sound playing. It looks like the station database is working on KISS/CISCO server but no streaming is allowed.
Probably the problem is connected with incorrect address of Shoutcast web server that has been changed from http://yp.shoutcast.com     to     http://www.shoutcast.com     recently. Probably it's necessary just to make this slight correction to KISS/ CISCO web Radio server programming? I'm not sure.
I tried to email Cisco and Link sys but no success. Any help will be appreciated.

  • Solution: How to play web radio with N97

Since Nokia is reluctant to offer its Internet Radio player for the N97 we have to look for other apps. I now found one that is able to play web radio: LCGjukebox from lonelycatgames.com.
They have a manual how to use web radio stations with their app at:
    http://www.lonelycatgames.com/?app=lcgjukebox&page=manual#kc12
I just tried it with http://www.munich-radio.de:8000/listen.pls and it works just fine. I think you have to pay for  the app, I don't know how much, I will still have to look. But it surely is worth it.
    Hope it helps
    Malte

Before I purchased the Linksys WHA I checked out the radiotime.com website.  From that website I could access and listen to all the internet radio stations that I was interested in. This included local radio stations and Island 98.5 in Hawaii, which we listened to while we were on vacation there. Based on this I figured that the Linksys version of RadioTime would also be able to access these stations. I was wrong about that. I am not able to access 2-3 local radio stations, nor Island 98.5.
I'm not sure why this is the case. My presumption is that when the code for the current version of the Cisco Media Server/Player was written they hardwired all the radio stations available in RadioTime at that time. I'm hoping that the next upgrade of the media server/player will include all the current internet radio stations I have access to at radiotime.com.

  • Streaming web radio breaks up after a few seconds

    Hello,
I am trying to stream web radio on my ipod touch 1st generation but it does not work properly.
I tried many apps like calm radio or apps allowing to listen to web radio but the problem is the same. The music breaks up constantly as if the connexion was too slow.
I use my home wifi (8MB) and I tried many different apps and streaming quality (same result with 24kbps or 128). The wifi connexion is clear (I am standing next to the modem) and I reset/updated the ipod but did not have any better result.
Anyone as the same problem? Some leads on how to fix this?
    Thank you.

When audio (music or speech) is being streamed to your iPod, the "file" (or each few minutes of audio) has to arrive at your iPod at least as fast as it's being played to you. If it does, then everything will sound okay and if it arrives faster than required, your iPod will buffer the sound in its memory. When that's full, it will tell the originating website to stop sending for a while. But if the "file" doesn't arrive fast enough, then you get breakup of the sound.
So even though your Wi-Fi connection may be good, the internet itself may be slowing down the feed of the stream and that could be down to any one (or more) of several things.
    1. I assume your internet connection is broadband - that is the 8MB you referred to. Even so, it may be a slow connection, now or all the time. Have you done a speed test on your internet connection?
    2. The website itself may be busy. Unlike broadcast radio, where it makes no difference how many extra peple listen, every extra listener on the internet needs extra resources on the interenet and on the website sending the sound.
    3. Even if you have this problem with different radio services, it could be the App your using that's causing the problem.
    4. The internet itself may be busy. It's like trying to make a call on your mobile phone (cellular) at midnight on New Year's Eve. Well, here in the UK, it was so busy, you couldn't do so.
One trick you could try; if the App you're using has a pause button, pause the audio for about thirty seconds and then re-start it. It may, possibly help, but don't put money on it.
In the future, this breaking up problem will go away, but the internet (and radio streaming) is still relatively new and that's why there's a problem. So new in fact, that no one has yet come up with a suitable name for "listening to a live audio feed over the internet, from an organisation that broadcasts over *radio waves* at the same time". Radio, you might say. Well no, radio is short for "broadcasting over the "airwaves" by usng radio-frequncy transmission.
I suppose "internet braodcasting" - but that's not very catchy, is it?
So yes, other peoiple wll also have the same problem as you, I do ocassionally. The only things you can try that may help are those I've suggested above - check the speed of your broadband and try the pause trick.
    Good luck.

  • Streaming web radio on safari

Does anybody know why streaming web radio on Safari does not work? Why does Windows Explorer, Google Chrome or Firefox not have a problem with streamingm while Sfari does?

    Try the Reciva app.
It's not realistic to compare the capabilities of iPad apps with stuff you are using on a laptop or desktop, they are just completely different systems.

  • Listing Web Radio In iTunes

Can anyone tell me just how I get my web radio station listed into iTunes?. I understand about listening thru iTunes, but I want to get my station "listed" on iTunes.
    Much thanks to anyone...
    Dreamweaver1950
    E Machines   Windows XP

My radio stations do appear in the genre section in the Browse Window.
Genre can be set or edited in Get Info by right clicking on the entry in the library.
If the genre field is empty or you don't like what's there, type something in.
As long as you get the radio station into your library, there shouldn't be a problem.
What you can't do AFIK is to get them to appear in the Radio Source, because that comes from Apple.
You can copy and paste a station from the apple list into a play list.

  • Web radio broadcasting software?

    hey guys,
anyone have any suggestions for a good program for broadcasting web radio? ive tried nicecast, but it only allows one input at a time. I would like to have one that allows you to fade between mic, and specific programs..
    any suggestions?

I've not seen anything that will handle more than one folder at a time when I have looked at this sort of software.
You may be more likely to get an answer if you tell us what OS you are using.

  • Starting time too long, web-radio stations won't play in 2 FF11 versions...

The third time I saw that Firefox11 was available for d/l I did it. I'm using Puppy Linux 528 &, at the moment was using FF8.x. I was working ok.
After that I started to note the problems stated above, so d/l Chromium & have been using that as an alternative. I thought that as it has already happened before the problem was due to the fact that it was not a PET file (compiled specifically for PL).
About 2 days ago, I searched for the newest pet FF browser available & found that there was an 11 version already, so I d/l it. At installation time it asked me to remove (recommended) some histoy/bookmarks & I thought it was a good idea. After all, I have backups of my bookmarks almost updated. The same problems persisted...
Today, I decided to troubleshoot the issue but, when I opened it it responded normally, showing me the Play button in my web-radio station page & playing the stream without any flaw(util now).
I don't have a clue how it got fixed since I didn't enabled the update feature. Could it be an issue concerning the sites? Could that happen for a span of more than a week?
Thanks for any tips/info on the subject & thank you all for a very splendid project!

Yes, the startup time was reduced to a point where I guess it's now normal as expected. But, what about all the disabled plugins? Thanks for responding, Kadir Topa!
I don't think I've an alternative but to follow the recommendations given somewhere else in this site in relation to troubleshooting plugins..., I'll see what's the outcome of it & post the results below.

  • 5530 - Web Radio problems...

    Hi!
    I just purchased a 5530 Xpress Music.
I configured it to work with my home-wireless Lan (via DHCP), and the device surfs with no problems over the internet... but, when i try to listen to some web radio, well.. the device doesn't work - i tried with the nokia web browser and opera!
I tried to listen to my public radio company (i live in Italy... www.radio.rai.it): this company streams using "real audio" format: via browsers i click on the "play" button, but nothing happens; via "Real Audio" application on the phone, i paste this url: (rtsp://live.media.rai.it/broadcast/radiouno.rm),and  this is what i get: "Can't find the server. File not found"... I opened - in the router -  the udp port i founded in the options of the "Real" app, but nothing happens...
Can someone help (i tried even with this web radio - only via browser: www.capital.it but even this doesn't works.
    Thanks & ciao

    Hello.
All my problems to listening online radio stations were resolved with Moodio.fm
    http://www.moodio.fm
You enter in the site from your PC and search first if another user has added the radio that you want to listen (Radio Rai Uno). But you can add the link too if not. You can also set the bitrate of the stream.
Once you set up your Moodio account from a PC adding their radios, can now enter from the phone and listen.
    Bye.

  • Web Radio about the X3-02

    Hello!
    First post
I'm strongly considering purchasing the x3-02. I'm fed up with android and the countless useless apps...
    I have 3 questions:
    - Is it possible to play a web radio (specifically http://www.tv-radio.com/station/france_inter_mp3/france_inter_mp3-128k.m3u)
    - Some people report some bugs with this mobile. Would you actaually recommend it, or is too "buggy"
    - What is the real battery life (real, not speced by nokia  )
    Thanks
    WITSD
PS: No offence to android fans, I might just have been unlucky with my mobile
    edit: Spelling

It's impossible to test the url you gave as it asks to log in. Nokia internet radio application plays nice on this mobile. Battery last about 4 days (no internet calls and only minimal wifi usage to check emails). After android you might find this phone too basic. I have windows mobile pda and this phone is only secondary phone, but if you plan to use this as your primary, think twice before getting it. It is very basic call-sms-chat phone without elementary things that other phones (Samsung, Sony Ericsson) offer. This phone is EMPTY inside comparing to those others. It's like comparing computer and ax as working instruments But if basic phone is what you want, it's great phone. I had some little problems with it to set it up first, but solved all. As secondary phone, it's OK.

  • Contact for relisting web radio stations

    Greetings.
I have been patiently awaiting some response, or action, for a few months now. I emailed my former contact within iTunes (I believe she has moved on now) to have my two web radio stations relisted, after a technical issue forced us offline for a while.
Oddly enough two stations I no longer operate are still listed, and these stations have not operated for more than a year. I thought of simply emailing to request an update to station details, and stream URL, but same problem.
I am unable to find the contact to get this situation rectified, please help.
    Regards

  • ITunes disconnects from Web Radio Station

When I adjust the volume in iTunes it disconnects from the Web radio station I am listening to and the connection has to be restarted.

    Yes.
Does the webradio station have a website you can get a .pls or .m3u link from?
If so, you download that file then double-click on it and it should launch iTunes and add the web address of the stream to your Music library.
You can then build a playlist with all your favorite stations in it. (I have one that is nothing but radio stations I like)

  • Streaming 112k web radio stuttering in yosemite

I have listened to streaming web radio 112k for many years. I have a 75mbps fios connection so speed is not an issue.
Since upgrading to yosemite, my radio 112k stream is constantly stuttering and dropping out even when opening some larger web pages in chrome or copying larger files. Things that never used to happen.

    Hello and welcome to discussions.
There are several free streaming radio apps on the App Store and iTunes Store. Below is just a small list of what is there.
    Pandora Radio
    AOL Radio
    iHeart Radio
There is allot more out there. So it's just the matter of checking out the info and seeing if you can find what works best for you in regards to who has your music.

  • Web Radio Player

    Hi all,
I would like to ask how to get started on creating an app to play internet radio files.
For example a file called smoothbeats.pls with content:
    [playlist]
    File1=http://208.85.242.71:8978
    NumberOfEntries=1
Version=2I can't find anywhere how to start on this.

any thoughts ?Asking for thoughts on how to implement a "web radio" is a bit like asking someone how to program their remote control to work with their TV...kinda depends on the remote and the TV.
Whatever you're trying to connect to will have a protocol that it uses to deliver data to clients. Most likely, it'll be a well-known, well-documented protocol. You'd need to implement the protocol in order to get the data stream, and then implement a way to render the data stream... Google is your resource at this point, this discussion is completely off topic for this forum.
There are probably 3rd party implementations of the libraries and the media rendering, but, you'll have to search for them. Good luck with your project.
