Know Problems Using JFreeChart + PJA + Weblogic 7.0?
Hello,
I am using Weblogic 7.0 + JDK1.3 running on Solaris
To make use of JFreeChart I am trying to use PJA (Pure Java AWT).
I read that there are some problems with using PJA on Weblogic like Memory Leakage.
Has anyone used PJA till now? If so, could you please let me know if you have any such problems & solutions.
TIA.

Problem using myfaces on webLogic
I run into the problem using myfaces on webLogic 9.1.
That is... a managedBean's instance is created twice in one page.
That page is consisted with one <h:inputText> and <h:commandButton>.
After some tests, we found out that the problems happens in a JSP which has <h:inputText>...
This problem didn't happen on Tomcat or JDeveloper.
We tried with another application.
And oh my goodness, it didn't happen.
It worked collect with no problems at all.
The difference between two application is,
the former managedBean extends abstract class,
and the latter doesn't.
Pls help me.....It was a program bag rather than weblogic's problem.
In the program, it deleted all the objects in the session scope.
So, after JSF render the next JSP, it re-create a managed bean.
But, I'm still wonder why the same things didn't happen in Tomcat.
WebLogic put managed bean into the session soon after JSF
creates it.
On the otherhand, Tomcat does that after managedbean's action
is completed???
Considering the JSF specification, i think weblogic is right.
Cos,JSF put all the components and related managed bean
into session, in the rendering phase.
Thanks for asking anyway. -

Please read my problem when I configure Weblogic https
I want to use https protocol and SSL for my web application in Weblogic
I have a problem but I am not sure it's related to configuring Weblogic or not please if you can advice me
I use "openssl" to be my own Certificate Authority (CA)
I used this instructions for using openssl [http://www.g-loaded.eu/2005/11/10/be-your-own-ca/]
after configuring openssl I used these steps for creating my keystore
1. First I use this keytool for creating my private key and public key
keytool -genkeypair -keyalg rsa -keystore ali_keytool.jks -storepass ali120 -alias ali_alias
What is your first and last name?
[Unknown]: AliKhosravi
What is the name of your organizational unit?
[Unknown]: Boors
What is the name of your organization?
[Unknown]: software
What is the name of your City or Locality?
[Unknown]: Tehranali_keytool.jks
What is the name of your State or Province?
[Unknown]: Tehran_Province
What is the two-letter country code for this unit?
[Unknown]: IR
Is CN=AliKhosravi, OU=Boors, O=software, L=Tehran, ST=Tehran_Province, C=IR correct?
[no]: y
2. I create my CSR by this command
keytool -certreq -alias ali_alias -keystore ali_keytool.jks -storepass ali120 -file ali_keytool.csr
3. I sign the ali_keytool.csr by openssl . I do it like this :
openssl x509 -req -in ali_keytool.csr -CA certs/myca.crt -CAkey private/myca.key -out ali_keytool.crt -days 365 -CAcreateserial -CAserial my_ca.seq
4.Now my I have a signed certificate (ali_keytool.crt) and my CA certificate (myca.crt)
and I import CA certificate to my keystore
keytool -import -alias Openssl_ca -file myca.crt -keystore ali_keytool.jks -storepass ali120
5. I import the signed certificate into my keystore by alias of private key
keytool -import -alias ali_alias -file ali_keytool.crt -keystore ali_keytool.jks -storepass ali120
6. I import the CA certificate again into a new keystore for creating Trust
keytool -import -alias my_ca -file myca.crt -keystore ali_keytool_trust.jks -storepass ali120
All steps done without any errors
I used this address for help [http://www.startux.de/java/44-dealing-with-java-keystores]
Now I want to configure kestores ans ssl in Weblogic
7. I go to the Environment-->Servers-->AdminServer-->Keystore tab in wblogic
8. I set "Keystores=Custom Identity and Custom Trust", "Custom Identity Keystore = H:\trust\ali_keytool.jks" , "Custom Identity Keystore Type=jks" ,
"Custom Identity Keystore Passphrase:ali120"
"Confirm Custom Identity Keystore Passphrase=ali120"
"Custom Trust Keystore=H:\trust\ali_keytool_trust.jks" , "Custom Trust Keystore Type=jks" ,
"Custom Trust Keystore Passphrase=ali120" , "Confirm Custom Trust Keystore Passphrase=ali120"
9. Then I go to SSL tab and I set "Identity and Trust Locations=Keystores" , "Private Key Alias=ali_alias" ,"Private Key Passphrase=ali120",
"Confirm Private Key Passphrase=ali120"
10. I go to the General tab and select "SSL Listen Port Enabled"
11. I user Firefox as WebBrowser so I configure my Browser I select Tools-->Options-->ViewCertificates --> Authorities tab
and I import the server certificate here is "myca.crt the openssl certificate"
in Downloading Certificate window I select
"Trust this CA to identify web sites"
"Trust this CA to identify email users"
"Trust this CA to identify software developers"
12. I restart Weblogic
13. I try to loging in weblogic like this "https://127.0.0.1:7002/console"
The webBroser show me this warning:
This Connection is Untrusted
You have asked Firefox to connect
securely to 127.0.0.1:7002, but we can't confirm that your connection is secure.
Normally, when you try to connect securely,
sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are
going to the right place. However, this site's identity can't be verified.
What Should I Do?
If you usually connect to
this site without problems, this error could mean that someone is
trying to impersonate the site, and you shouldn't continue.
Technical Details
I Understand the Risks
I don't know why the WebBrowser show me this warning while I imported the Server Certificate
I don't know that my problem is in configuring WebLogic or FireFox WebBrowser or Keystore
If you know please advice me

Has anyone used JAAS with WebLogic?
Has anyone used JAAS with Weblogic? I was looking at their example, and I have a bunch of questions about it. Here goes:
Basically the problem is this: the plug-in LoginModule model of JAAS used in WebLogic (with EJB Servers) seems to allow clients to falsely authenticate.
Let me give you a little background on what brought me to this. You can find the WebLogic JAAS example (to which I refer below) in the pdf: http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs61/pdf/security.pdf . (I believe you want pages 64-74) WebLogic, I believe goes about this all wrong. They allow the client to use their own LoginModules, as well as CallBackHandlers. This is dangerous, as it allows them to get a reference (in the module) to the LoginContext's Subject and authenticate themselves (i.e. associate a Principal with the subject). As we know from JAAS, the way AccessController checks permissions is by looking at the Principal in the Subject and seeing if that Principal is granted the permission in the "policy" file (or by checking with the Policy class). What it does NOT do, is see if that Subject
has the right to hold that Principal. Rather, it assumes the Subject is authenticated.
So a user who is allowed to use their own Module (as WebLogic's example shows) could do something like:
//THEIR LOGIN MODULE (SOME CODE CUT-OUT FOR BREVITY)
public class BasicModule implements LoginModule
private NameCallback strName;
private PasswordCallback strPass;
private CallbackHandler myCB;
private Subject subj;
//INITIALIZE THIS MODULE
public void initialize(Subject subject, CallbackHandler callbackHandler, Map sharedState, Map options)
try
//SET SUBJECT
subj = subject; //NOTE: THIS GIVES YOU REFERENCE
TO LOGIN CONTEXT'S SUBJECT
// AND ALLOWS YOU TO PASS
IT BACK TO THE LOGIN CONTEXT
//SET CALLBACKHANDLERS
strName = new NameCallback("Your Name: ");
strPass = new PasswordCallback("Password:", false);
Callback[] cb = { strName, strPass };
//HANDLE THE CALLBACKS
callbackHandler.handle(cb);
} catch (Exception e) { System.out.println(e); }
//LOG THE USER IN
public boolean login() throws LoginException
//TEST TO SEE IF SUBJECT HOLDS ANYTHING YET
System.out.println( "PRIOR TO AUTHENTICATION, SUBJECT HOLDS: " +
subj.getPrincipals().size() + " Principals");
//SUBJECT AUTHENTICATED - BECAUSE SUBJECT NOW HOLDS THE PRINCIPAL
MyPrincipal m = new MyPrincipal("Admin");
subj.getPrincipals().add(m);
return true;
public boolean commit() throws LoginException
return true;
}(Sorry for all that code)
I tested the above code, and it fully associates the Subject (and its principal) with the LoginContext. So my question is, where in the process (and code) can we put the LoginContext and Modules so that a client cannot
do this? With the above example, there is no Security. (a call to: myLoginContext.getSubject().doAs(...) will work)
I think the key here is to understand JAAS's plug-in security model to mean:
(Below are my words)
The point of JAAS is to allow an application to use different ways of authenticating without changing the application's code, but NOT to allow the user to authenticate however they want.
In WebLogic's example, they unfortunately seem to have used the latter understanding, i.e. "allow the user to authenticate however they want."
That, as I think I've shown, is not security. So how do we solve this? We need to put JAAS on the server side (with no direct JAAS client-side), and that includes the LoginModules as well as LoginContext. So for an EJB Server this means that the same internal permission
checking code can be used regardless of whether a client connects through
RMI/RMI-IIOP/JEREMIE (etc). It does NOT mean that the client gets to choose
how they authenticate (except by choosing YOUR set ways).
Before we even deal with a serialized subject, we need to see how JAAS can
even be used on the back-end of an RMI (RMI-IIOP/JEREMIE) application.
I think what needs to be done, is the client needs to have the stubs for our
LoginModule, LoginContext, CallBackHandler, CallBacks. Then they can put
their info into those, and everything is handled server-side. So they may
not even need to send a Subject across anyways (but they may want to as
well).
Please let me know if anyone sees this problem too, or if I am just completely
off track with this one. I think figuring out how to do JAAS as though
everything were local, and then putting RMI (or whatever) on top is the
first thing to tackle.Send this to:

Error while using TXDataSource with Weblogic 6.1 & Oracle 8.1.6
Hi,
I am using Weblogic 6.1 and Oracle 8.1.6.
I have configured JDBC XA Connection Pool with Oracle thin driver. These are my settings...
Connection Pool:
Name - myXAPool
URL - jdbc:oracle:thin:@myServer:1521:myDb
DriverClassname - oracle.jdbc.xa.client.OracleXADataSource
TXDataSource:
Name - myXADS
JNDIName - myXADS
PoolName - myXAPool
I get the following error when I try to lookup the datasource. I am not sure where the problem is as I have configured Connection Pool and TXDataSource as mentioned in the documentation.
java.sql.SQLException: XA error: XAER_RMERR : A resource manager error has occured in the transaction branch start() failed on resource 'myXAPool' Unexpected error during start for XAResource 'myXAPool': null
It would be really great if you can help me out.
Thanks in Advance,
Sudhir.Hi Sudhir,
If you do not know if upgrade or not, have a look here :
http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs61/notes/bugfixes2.html
Note that at the end of June SP3 will be released...

Hi Sergi,
Thanks a lot for the class file, I figured out what the problem was. Actually
the
database version I was working with was 8.0.6.0. The Oracle driver doesn't
work with
this but the JDriver worked. This is the output of running CheckDriver..
DatabaseProductName : Oracle
DatabaseProductVersion : Oracle8 Enterprise Edition Release 8.0.6.0.0 -
Production
With the Partitioning and Objects options
PL/SQL Release 8.0.6.0.0 - Production
DriverName : Oracle JDBC driver
DriverVersion : 8.1.7.1.0
Then I tried on using the Oracle Driver on another instance which has the
version
8.1.7.1.0 and it worked. The JDriver and Oracle driver both work with this
database.
The output of CheckDriver for this Oracle instance is..
DatabaseProductName : Oracle
DatabaseProductVersion : Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.7.1.0 -
Production
With the Partitioning option
JServer Release 8.1.7.1.0 - Production
DriverName : Oracle JDBC driver
DriverVersion : 8.1.7.0.0
By the way I am working on WLS 6.1 SP1. What is the advantage of SP2 ? Should
I upgrade
Thanks once again,
Sudhir.

Hi Sudhir ,
JDriver works well, you can work with it.
Just for curiosity, can you run the class I attached using the "exact"classpath
of your WL instance (with Oracle drivers in front of weblogic.jar) ? What
is the
output ?
On which platform are you running your WLSP2 ?
Thanks

Hi Sergi,
I just checked the things you mentioned. The connection pool starts correctly
without
any errors. I also made sure SELECT previlege was granted to DBA_PENDING_TRANSACTIONS.
I do have the JAVA_XA package installed and it has EXECUTE permission
to
PUBLIC.
I actually tried using the Weblogic JDriver (weblogic.jdbc.oci.xa.XADataSource)
and
it works perfect without any issue. The only consideration is that itis
a Type 2
Driver and needs to have the Oracle Client installed. But right now Ido
have it
installed on the same machine.
Do you know any known issues with Weblogic JDriver. Do you think it'sa
good idea
to go with it ?
Thanks,
Sudhir.
"Sergi Vaz" <[email protected]> wrote:
Hi Sudhir,
does your connection pool start correctly ?
Check the setup of your Oracle server too:
1) grant select on DBA_PENDING_TRANSACTIONS table to PUBLIC
2) package JAVA_XA installed (with grant execute to PUBLIC)

Hi Sergi,
Thanks for the response. I downloaded the driver for 8.1.7 from Oraclesite

Is there
another location where we can download the Oracle driver with the bug
fixed

Hi Sudhir,
I think you are using Oracle JDBC drivers 8.1.6.
They have a bug, they do not accept a foreign XID.
Use 8.1.7 or higher to solve this problem.

Using jfreechart with oracle forms 11g
Hi everybody,
I'm using jfreechart with oracle forms 11g to continue having graphs in my application since i'm migrating from forms 6i. I've already got it working and it's great. Just have one problem left. I don't know how to change the axis labels. In Bar charts, it comes with "Values" in y axis and "Category" in x axis by default. I wanted to change that or make it dissapear. Anyone knows how to?I've never used the jFreeChart, but according to their website you can use the "setLabel" method to set the label for an axis. Check out Axis (JFreeChart Class Library) for more information.

Problem integrating Oracle 9i, Weblogic 7.0, and MDB
(REFORMATTED??)
All:
I would really appreciate an answer to this question.
Background:
- We are using Oracle 9i and Weblogic 7
- I have an MDB that receives a message, then in the onMessage
(Message) method performs a findByPrimaryKey(String).
Problem:
The deployment descriptors and the MDB all work fine when I set
them up to query against a Pointbase database and deploy to
Weblogic. Everything worked fine. But this was only a test to
see if everything would work.I now need to query against an
Oracle database.
I got the updated version of theOracle Thin Driver and put it in
the WL_HOME/server/lib/classes12.zip file. I even added it to
the beginning of the classpath in the startWeblogic.cmd file.But
am still having problems.
To test the just the Oracle connection I double checked the
user, password, URL,and driver settings in a java file using
JDBC connections - and they worked fine.They just aren't working
when integrated into Weblogic.
The problem lies in the Weblogic 7 server integration with
Oracle 9i. The softwareintegrated fine when tables from a
Pointbase database were queried. The only changes made have been
to make the connectivity to Oracle.
My errors are in the attached myserver.log file. If anyone knows
if this is aknown problem or what the problem is please let me
know.Just FYI my settings are as follows:
Driver: oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver
URL=jdbc:oracle:thin:@192.168.6.10:1521:proType1
user=protype1
password=protype1
Any advice is welcomed! I've tried everything I can think of.

Hi. Show me your pool definition, and the standalone code that makes a good
JDBC connection with the driver you want to use. I assume you've
verified that the driver you want to use comes before any weblogic
stuff in the classpath for the server.
It seems the pool was configured with zero initial capacity, and is being
asked to create connections at runtime. I would make the pool make all it's
connections at startup. This is faster and more stable, and will also narow
the problem down to the pool not booting until we get the JDBC connections
made.

King Regards,Saket,
you have to remove all files from sun, if you want to use MyFAces instead of RI.

Problems using distributed JMS topic
I'm having problems using a distributed topic. I'm running WebLogic 8.1 (SP1)
with two managed servers in a cluster. I created a new distributed topic using
the console, and used auto deploy to target the distributed topic to the cluster
and create members on both servers. I deployed three message-driven EJBs (listening
on the distributed topic) to both servers.
After initial deployment, the topic works as expected - I post a message to the
distributed topic, and it is received by all six EJBs. When I re-start the system
(both managed servers and the admin server), however, the results are different.
When I post a message to the distributed topic, it is only received by the three
EJBs on the first server (the log shows that all EJBs have deployed successfully).
Under Deployments/EJB Modules/Monitoring, the EJBs on the second server show "JMSConnection
Alive" as false, while the others are true.
Under Monitoring/"Monitor all Active JMS Destinations..." for the member topics,
there are three consumers listed when there should be six.
If remove and re-create the member topics, or the distributed topic, exceptions
appear in the log saying that one or both of the member topics are "suspended".
Is there additional configuration that needs to be done for this scenario? Are
there any known problems related to distributed topics?
Thanks,
Richard
Hi Richard,
There are no 8.1SP1 problems that I know of.
Check your logs for Warnings and Errors - distributed topics
members often log an explanatory message
when they fail to contact their fellow members.
Also make sure that you have configured so that
the following are true:
All WL servers are named differently.
All JMS servers are named differently.
All JMS stores are named differently.
All distributed topic members within a distributed topic are named
differently.
Also make sure that your cluster is coming up
properly in the first place. If you have
trouble doing so, you can post
to the clustering newsgroups for info.

Problem using File sharing in a small office network
I have a problem using File sharing on an Imac and Macbook Pro.
My office has a small network running Windows Small office file server 2003. I have one Windows 2000 PC connected to it and 3 Macs, an 2.4 gHz Intel iMac running Leopard 10.5.6 , a MBP running the same and a Mac Mini running 10.5.
From the Finder Shared window of the Mac Mini, I can see all the computers on the network. It also used to be the case for the iMac, but the MBP could never see the Windows PC’s, not the server or the Win2000. This wasn’t a big problem as I was communicating between the Macs and using the shared printer on the iMac.
On Monday Jan 19 the iMac was suddenly unavailable to the other 2 Macs. It was working normally on the Friday. The iMac can access the Mac Mini and copy files to it. The Mac Mini can see the iMac but cannot access it. Even trying to connect as, ends in a failed connection. I have tried rebooting, turning File sharing off and then on again to no avail.
The iMac now also cannot see the Windows PC’s which it previously could.
To get files from the MBP for printing, I now copy it to the Mac Mini and acces the folder from the iMac, a very tedious procedure. I don’t know why this happened and am scared that the Mac Mini is going to do the same thing.
All three computers are also running VMware 2.0 with Windows XP pro, and from VMware the server is visible on all the computers.
Any help will be much appreciated, I live in a small town in South Africa and the local computer suppliers have no knowledge of the Macs.
I think that the problem with the iMac may have started after a software upgrade to 10.5.6 but I am not entirely sure.
Thank you
ajdkWell, you're current method sounds pretty good. But if you want to user a file server, hey go ahead.
What you want to do when you centralize project files is to keep track of which one is the newest and becareful not to overwrite files with the same name. So you either have to set up individual spaces on the server (separate AFP/FTP folders maybe), or you'll need to run a file checkout service.
The individual space is cheaper, but it's not much of a difference from backing up to the network drive. Since you have Gigabit connections, you might even opt to save ALL the user files on the server instead of just the project files.
If you want to run a file checkout service, there's two approaches. You can run a service that can host any kind of file, or you can run a version control system for each kind of application (Photoshop, Word, etc.). Please notice, that as you read further and further along, the methods become more and more expensive and complicated. Once you get to this point, it will be necessary to purchase or build software in addition to the Mac OS X Server package. -

After that, I tried setting permissions for the cwallet.sso file to ugo+rwx, but this leads to the same problems as mentioned above.
My second try was to setup an external WLS 12c, but it seems to be not yet possible to connect to a WLS 12c from within jDeveloper.
Do you have any ideas ?
Thank you in advance for your help.
Regards,
RobinAfter debugging the WLS Initialisation with jdb, I recognized that there was some trouble with dependent libraries.
In the end, I solved my problem by using another OS (Ubuntu 11.10) for development. There, the WLS works out of the box, even with 64-Bit libraries.
Thank you for your help.
