Kodo v4.0.0.EA1 ConcurrentModificationException
Hi,
With the Kodo 4.0.0 EA1 release I get the following stacktrace, during a
heavy workload. Seems like there is some mutual exclusion problem...

Java.util.ConcurrentModificationException while getObjectById
I use Kodo 3.0.2:
I want to retrieve an objkect by its primary key (primary key class) in a
stateless session bean. This is the first time I call a method on the
PersistenceManager retrieved over JNDI.
The code is:
public synchronized long getNextIdentity(String numberRange) {
IdentityMaxKey id = new IdentityMaxKey();
id.setNumberRange(numberRange);
IdentityMax im = null;
im = (IdentityMax) pm.getObjectById(id, true); <-- Exception
return im.getAndIncMaxId();
And the result is the java.util.ConcurrentModificationException on the
appServer (JBoss 3.2.3). Whats wrong?

Kodo enhancer throws ConcurrentModificationException
Attached is the stacktrace i get during enhancement, inside ant build
process.
Kodo suddenly fails on classes that were enhanced correctly before, so I
guess its some internal bug.
Does anyone know why it happens?
raczer.
I use:
- kodo 2.4.0
- ant 1.5.1

endThis sounds like a manifestation of
http://bugzilla.solarmetric.com/show_bug.cgi?id=472 to me. Do you have
circular dependencies between classes defined in multiple metadata
files? For example, do you have a class Foo whose metadata is defined in
Foo.jdo, and a class Bar whose metadata is in Bar.jdo, and do Foo and
Bar have references to each other?
If this is the bug, the only current workaround is to put those classes
that have circular references into the same metadata file (a package.jdo
file or a system.jdo file).

Kodo suddenly fails on classes that were enhanced correctly before, so I
guess its some internal bug.
Does anyone know why it happens?

Kodo 4.0.0 Early Access 1 Now Available
Kodo 4 Early Access 1 is now available at
http://solarmetric.com/kodo/beta/4.0.0EA1/ . You can find release notes
at
http://solarmetric.com/kodo/Documentation/4.0.0EA1/docs/full/html/relnotes.html
Kodo 4 EA1 includes support for the majority of the JDO2 and EJB3
specifications, and introduces some new mapping capabilities that
simplify the development of efficient mappings.
As the name implies, this release is an early access release. As such,
many parts of the release are not yet implemented, including Kodo's IDE
integration support. Additionally, this release provides roughly zero
backwards-compatibility with the 3.x Kodo interfaces. Future Kodo 4
releases will provide backwards-compatibility with the relevant Kodo 3 APIs.

and parsing. These have been resolved in 3.0. If you do not wish to
upgrade at this time, you might try specifying all your persistent

Error while configuring kodo to lookup a datasource
We had a working application using EEPersistenceManagerFactory
I changed the kodo.properties to lookup a non XA JDBC datasource.
After that the application is working fine (it creates
,updates,deletes,finds record in the DB)
but SystemOut.log has the following error for every operation
We are using Kodo 2.5.0, Websphere 5.0 and Oracle 8
How can we avoid getting this error ?.
We tried to find any property on the Websphere datasource which can be
altered to avoid this error but no luck.
Thanks

Paresh-
It looks like you are returning a collection of instances from an EJB,
which will cause them to be serialized. The serialization is happening
outside the context of a transaction, and Kodo needs to obtain a
connection. Websphere seems to not like that.
You have a few options:
1. Call makeTransientAll() on all the instances before you return them
from your bean methods
2. Manually instantiate all the fields yourself before sending them
back. You could use a bogus ObjectOutputStream to do this.
3. In 3.0, you can use the new detach() API to detach the instances
before sending them back to the client.

Unit test fails after upgrading to Kodo 4.0.0 from 4.0.0-EA4
I have a group of 6 unit tests failing after upgrading to the new Kodo
4.0.0 (with BEA) from Kodo-4.0.0-EA4 (with Solarmetric). I'm getting
exceptions like the one at the bottom of this email. It seems to be an
interaction with the PostgreSQL driver, though I can't be sure. I
haven't changed my JDO configuration or the related classes in months
since I've been focusing on using the objects that have already been
defined. The .jdo, .jdoquery, and .java code are below the exception,
just in case there's something wrong in there. Does anyone have advice
as to how I might debug this?
Thanks,
Mark

Questions on Subviews and Import/Export in Data Modeler v3 EA1.
I have a few questions about the capabilities of Data Modeler v3 EA1:
1) Is it possible to rename subviews? Would like more meaningful names then Relational_x - Subview_x.
2) Is it possible to save documents at subview level?
3) Is it possible to import/export subsets of data?
4) Having problems importing Erwin 7 .xml file, is there known problems with this import?
JudyHi Judy,
1) To rename a subview just right click on it in the browser tree and select "Properties". In the properties dialog change the name and click OK button.
2) You can save a subview as new Data Modeler design - from the File menu select Export -> To Data Modeling Design. In the newly opened dialog select the subview you want to export and click OK button.
3) After saving a subview as new design (see answer #2) it can be imported in some other design (File -> Import -> Data Modeler Design).
4) What kind of problems do you have with import of Erwin 7.* xml file?

I should mention that this war file developed in Rational application developer (Struts based ,database, higly use of other Taglibs)
Now when i try to run my imported application , it does not run at all, it stops with some errors :
for example in compiler log it return error for following line :
<logic:redirect page="<%=session.getAttribute("LastPage").toString() %>" />
the error is :

Error(29): Attribute: % is not a valid attribute name
Error(30): Encountered end tag </logic:present> without corresponding start tag.
Also it returns :
Error(32): Tag attempted to define a bean which already exists: currentModel
Error(33): Tag attempted to define a bean which already exists: currentName
for the following code :
<logic:equal name="Language" value="en">
<SCRIPT SRC="language-en.js"></SCRIPT> /////line 32
<SCRIPT SRC="ctst.js"></SCRIPT> ////line 33
</logic:equal>
I import it into netbeans and it run correctly on tomcat, i deploy it inot sun Java apps and it works ok.
Even i tried Jboss , geronimo to test my application corectness
Can you tell me what is wrong ?Allen,

ConcurrentModificationException while running the deployed application
Hi,
I am using JDeveloper 11.1.2.0.0 and WebLogic Server Version: 10.3.5.0 with production environment.
My application is based on Customized Dynamic Tab Shell where each task flow is loaded with its own transaction and also it is defined not to share data control.
I use a Collection Object inside TabContext class, which will be accessed and consumed (including modifications) by all dynamic tab loaded taskflow.
I use Customized FactoryClass for every BC4JDataControl to track the request and also to pass parameter to model layer AMs
When i run the application in local, i didn't get any error. But when i check the deployed application, I am getting ConcurrentModificationException frequently as javascript dialog

Perumal SI've seen this happen before if component objects are stored in managed beans (e.g. using binding="#{someBean.foo}").
Problems like this can happen if the component is stored directly on the bean as a member variable (most commonly if the bean is application-scoped, session-scoped, or pageFlow-scoped but smaller scopes can exhibit the problem too).
Usually just referencing the components from the accessors on JSF event objects during an event handlers or using one of the various component searching APIs (e.g. findComponent) can suffice in locating the components dynamically.
However, if using one of those mechanisms isn't feasible you must use the ComponentReference as the storage mechanism (and follow the caveats noted in its JavaDoc):
http://www.jarvana.com/jarvana/view/org/apache/myfaces/trinidad/trinidad-api/2.0.0-beta-1/trinidad-api-2.0.0-beta-1-javadoc.jar!/org/apache/myfaces/trinidad/util/ComponentReference.html
Hope this helps,

Iterator List Error "java.util.ConcurrentModificationException"
Hi,
I'm with a problem. I've got a set of objects in a List. I'm iterating the list and during this process, I have to add more objects to the list. The system returns the exception "java.util.ConcurrentModificationException".
What is the solution to this problem, that is, how can I iterate a list, adding or removig elements without error
Thanx
MPYou cannot add to a list while iterators are in progress. You can remove elements by calling the remove method on the iterator.
If you need to both iterate and add, consider iterating a copy of the list, like so:
List copy = new ArrayList(originalList);
for (Iterator it = copy.iterator(); it.hasNext(); ) {
// call originalList.add here
}You could also consider indexing into the list (if it's an ArrayList), and then "bumping" your indices as you add elements. -

I don't have any problems with my OS instead of you.
I have already told you what to do, if you have no idea how to do that just go and buy yourself another support subscription from your mac support.
The missing class is not available from any code-source or loader in the system. check that.
what version of JAVA do you have in your fancy OS? most of the time upgrade java to the latest version will fix the issues.
Update java from sun website not from another mac tore.
