KP06 needs to exceed 30 columns

The client developed a layout in KP66 and requested adding more columns than the existing 30 column limit. I was able to use an enhancement in KPP1 to accomplish that, and they said it worked fine. However, when they use the layout in KP06, the additional columns are not shown. Is it feasible to modify KP06 as well? Enhancement points/sections are not found in KPP2.
I do not have previous experience with Report Painter. Any information is appreciated - Thank you.

in particular for the 489867 consider the following:
the limit on the filename is 128 characters long. As in your
experience when we try >128 the filename is cut.
If you need more characters you must change the domain LOCALFILE
for a greater number of characters.   >> very important
it is unsure what side effects this changes causes
(It is used in about 25 data elements. which are used in a lot of
the application)
It is recommended that you try to store the upload file in a
directory that has a path with a max of 128 characters.

According to your description, you want to add an extra column with level key for city, and then add this column to location dimension as an attribute, right?
In this case, you can define named calculation on the datasource view. Named calculations are Virtual columns that can be added on tables in Data Source View(DSV). This named calculation acts as a Column in your table and this column won't be reflected in
your database.

Need suggestion for Column update in query results

While generating reports using Oracle 10g SQL Query, we need to update the few of columns data with business calculations. We are processing large amount of data. Kindly suggest us, for the best method to achieve this.

i don't know about Oracle 10 SQL Query but i wouldn't mix reporting with data calcuations which is stored persistent in the database. I would separate them, e.g. you could create a database-job to execute your updates at a specific time each day.

Help needed in Sorting Columns (date sorts alphabetically)

I have a report query as follows:
select to_date(period,'MON-YYYY') start_date
,exp_type
,id
,acct_ref
,dept_ref
,item_date
,amt
from test;
I need to display the report in the same order as select statement (start_date,exp_type,id etc). I have given default sort order in report attributes and user enabled sort on all columns. The report attributes look as shown below:
column_name / sort / sort_seq
start_date / yes / 3
exp_type / yes / 1
id / yes / -
acct_ref / yes / -
dept_ref / yes / 2
item_date / yes / 4
Now my problem is that the start date sorts alphabetically (as varchar) instead of chronologically (date wise). How can I resolve this?
If I change my default sort order so that start_date is sorted 1st, it works perfectly fine. Is there any restriction for APEX sort that says the column displayed needs to be sorted in the same order? How do I overcome it? Or is it possible to overcome it?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks. But no I cannot change it to date, as there are many applications using it for displaying the period. But I found an equivalent date column for that period and tried using that. It was not working.
I did further analysis and found that even to_char(period) works fine. The problem was something else. In my region query the select statement was
select exp_type
,id
,amt
,to_date(period,'MON-YYYY')
from test.
I then had in region attributes used the arrows to change order of display, so that period appears first. That was the culprit. When I change my region query, to match the order in region attributes the date column as well as to_date(period) both work fine.
I never knew that the order of select statement and that in region attributes should match each other!!! And hence when posting I did not give importance to the order of my select list. Sorry for that.
The mystery is how was it working when i changed the sort order to say "period" 1st and then exp_type (2nd)

Need a report column to hold data for one row only

Hey Guys,
I have a report which has a column that links to another page in my APEX application.
There is a requirement where only one of the rows in this report needs to have a link so I need the column to show the page link for one row and one row only.
The report will have about 5 rows at a time so is there a way to just make this link appear for the one row(it will be the top row) in the column attirbute in APEX? or can this be done in the SQL for the report?

Hi
The only way (I believe) to do this is within the SQL. Then you just wrap the column in a CASE statement and if it meets your criteria then build up the link and if not then display normally.
Something like this...
SELECT ename,
       CASE WHEN empno = 7839
       THEN '<a href="f?p='||:APP_ID||':4:'||:APP_SESSION||'::NO::P4_TARGET_ITEM:'||empno||'" >'||empno||'</a>'

Need to Display columns depending on the prompt selection

I need to show the only the columns as per the prompt selection given by the user.
Suppose there are 5 prompts say (first name, last name, phone number, address, DOJ). All the prompts should be optional. If the user gave input for first name and last name then only this two columns must be displayed in the report.

Yes it is possible but you will have to write down formulas for these columns.
First add all required object in your report and format them in your report.
Now say you want Last name to appear when you user enters last name in prompt.
Write down following formula
Report Detail Area
=If(UserResponse("Last Name"))="USER INPUT" Then [LNAME]
For column Heading you can use
=If(UserResponse("Last Name"))="USER INPUT" Then "Column Heading"
The same pattern may be applied for other columns.

Is your question in the context of the responses that you collect (this is the View Responses tab) or the actual form that your end users will see?
In a nutshell, (1) a field in your form corresponds to a column in the responses table. (2) the caption text of the form field will be the column header (show up at the top of the column). (3) to list names in alphabetical in your form, you can use choices fields, like multiple choices field or drop down field - you will have to enter the name in alphabetical order manually.

Need spacing between columns

I am having a time trying to get my three column to allow the background color and text to show between the columns.

When I float col 3 to the right it looks nice between center column and right column, but I can't seem to get the center column to "float" only in the center to allow the space between the left and center column.
I want the text to show through.

I have the Flash removed but the idea of using the container to show the background as seen at http://digitalresponseoc.com/clients/casey/index.html is giving me problems.
The background needs to be seen through the gaps in the columns.
I am learning more about stuff but I still need to figure out how to have the columns not shift when the browser is resized. argh.
Can you point me in a direction to learn how to do this.

Need CS4 3 Column Liquid Head and Footer for CS5

My professor is using the CS4 version of 3 Column Liquid with Header and Footer and this template has changed in CS5. I find it hard to follow his examples without the proper file. He says to change background color of a sidebar, and half of my website changes color. Is there a way I can get this template please?

Need a list column do a lookup on another list depending on a condtion

i have two lists EMP and SAL
EMP contains
empid empname
e001 abc
e002 xyz
and SAL contains empid, empname and sal columns
i want the list SAL to have the value of empname populated on the corresponding entry of empid which will be retrived from the EMP list. e.g if one enters e002 in SAL list, the value of the empname should be populated with the associated value.

Composite Primary Key needs Unique ID column or no?

Hello Dears ,
I have a table that it's primary key is composite key of two columns , and there are like 5 info columns . You think I shall use the two columns as primary key of this table or create unique ID column .
Example :
Table Employees :
Table Departments :
The problem table is Department Managers :
Now I'll be adding employee id and department id in this table plus manager info etc..( info doesnt exist in employee table) , shall i use them as primary or create id column in this table ??

I would use employe_id and department_id to define the PK. I see no reason for adding a meaningless key in such a case.
