KT3V AGP Problem

Hi people. New here. So I have a computer with the KT3V board that i've been using for about 2 years now. My friend recently upgraded his computer and gave me his video card. It's a PNY GeforceMX 440SE. I tried to put this card into the KT3V but it just won't power on with this card in it. I currently have a Winfast Geforce2 pro in it and it's running fine but for the life in me I can't figure out why the system won't power on with the MX440SE. As soon as I take the card out the power will come on. I've tested the card on an older Abit KT7 and it powers on just fine. It's like the KT3V just can't provide enough power but I've tried unplugging everything except the video card and I've tried switching power supply. I've use a 500watt and a 420watt and neither work. I know it's not a power supply issue or that I'm not feeding it enough. I've also upgraded to the lasted bios. So any ideas on what the problem could be? Thanks in advance.

" XX watt means nothing." There are good brand 300 W. better than some 500 Watters. P.S.  You should pay attention to the AMPS. the P.S. gives to 3.3v. 5v. and 12v. rails ( printed on a P.S. side) Can you tell us that numbers ?"
i know it's not the p.s. cause like i said the vid card works on an old abit motherboard which i have tried with both p.s. and it powers up no problem. i'll try to find the amps and post it as soon as possible.
"What you say, points to power problem ( If you are sure the G.Card is well seated ). Does new G.Card have a power connector ? is AGP 8x ? 4x ? Does the Mobo supports it? Did you try your old V.Card after Bios upgrade ? Did it work OK ?"
i'm no noob when it comes to computers so yes the card is seated well and no there is no power connector on the card. it's a 4x card and i'm not sure how to find out if the mobo supports it other then to look at the specs for the vid card and mobo. in that case yes it does support it. yes i did try the old vid card after bios upgrade. actually that is the card i'm using now.
any other suggestions?

  • MS6398 AGP problem

Trying to install new 845 Ultra board in existing system. Have old Viper V770U AGP video card. Board will not boot. Tried newer GeForce 440 AGP card. Same thing. Currently have old PCI card and at least it boots. Not sure which voltage the AGP cards are. (How can you tell?). Board's BIOS is at v 3.0 out of the box. Haven't run LiveUpdate yet. Are there any reports of AGP problems with these cards?

Thank you very much for your help. I have already tried everything that you write. I have reinstalled windows many times and put my computer completely apart and put it togheter again pice by piece but with no luck.
The guide that the error meassage refer to did not follow with the card but I have read ATI`s guides on theyre homepage. http://www.ati.com/support/manualpdf/Getting_Startedx800.pdf
I have read the manuals many times and done everything. It was only one thing that was written that was new to me and that was a little pin/or jumper or so on the back of the card. It was for changing between pal and ntsc. I have tried every combinations but with no luck.
Now I am using a completly clean windows installation, but all the software based issues are not related to the fact that the PC will just not boot with the card installed. I have even cleaned all the new cables and taken away dust and so on. I am 23 years old now and have had computers  since  I was 10 years old(I guess 10 or 15 differnt) but never had any trouble that I could not solve. This hover I find strange. I will ship the card back to the reseller in one day or to.
I am lucky that a norwegian law grants me all the money back (about 400 US dollars) in 2 weeks after buy no matter what the reason is. I only have to pay for shipping.

Yes I managed exactly that. I've been out of the computer building business for a while so I didn't know the graphics ports had changed.
I will invest in a graphic card as well, thanks for putting me on track

  • MSI KT3V & Agp 8x graphic cards ? Problems ? Experience?

I am considering to buy Hercules or Tyan AGP 8x R9700 Pro , my motherboard
    manual says that MSI KT3V supports AGP 4/8 x graphic cards , 1.5 , 1.8 V ,
but I was wondering , has anyone tried this combination? I mean , this board
is AGP 4X , but is not "AGP 4x only" it should work with AGP 8x graphic
    cards , am I right?

AGP8x card is backward compatible with AGP4x slot.

    hi there,
read Moan Guide 1st, and provide full PC specification including PSU brand with details(can be found on the PSU sticker) to get better picture about the problem.
"after that  my  monitor gets compleatly black from 2 to 2 minutes without any reason !"
where this happend? under OS? in games only or in normal browsing for example? what VGA drivers are installed?
also paste BIOS Cell Menu settings.
Yes  under Windows XP. If I am not able  even to  browse the internet, you realised that I cant play any game.
The drivers are  from CD of MSI (mainboard) and CD from  Gainward ( videocard). I set in BIOS  AGP Fat write to disable/enabled  but  nothing happend.
I reinstalled  Windows  XP with sp2 again because I belived it's a drivers  problem, but the problem  didn't dissapear even with latest  nVidia   video drivers (93.17).  That  problem dont occured on Bios boot steps , only after Windows XP is running...

  • MSI GeForce 6600GT AGP problems

    Hi all,
A couple of days ago i bought the 6600GT 128MB AGP graphics card and i have the following problems.
I have a gigabyte motherboard with a 370 socket, a 4X AGP, and a 350W PSU. I tried 3 games and i got major problems in the graphics in two of them. Doom 3 seems ok, but in painkiller and half-life 2 the polygons dont look right to me (the polygons are corrupted).
Also in the "MSI information" tab in the display properties i got the wrong information about my graphics card. The memory type is wrong (it displays SDRAM) and the AGP 4X in the "AGP/PCI information" is not ticked. I checked my BIOS option and is set to 4X so i dont know whats wrong. I also tried both the 66.93 NVIDIA drivers and the 71.22 drivers from MSI but nothing happened. The polygon coprruption in the aformentioned games remains.
Could please someone help me? Does the 6600GT work on AGP 4X?
    Thanks in advance,
    Yannis

I tried "dxdiag" to perform some diagnostics on DirectX and while testing the Direct3D capabilities of the card the test fails when using hardware-accelarated Direct3D 8 & 9 interfaces, while passes the test with Direct3D 7. I cannot figure out the problem. I tried everything i could so far but still nothing. Can someone help me? The AGP slot of my motherboard supports 4X (AGP 2.0 compliant). Can this problem be from a damaged graphics card?

  • KT3V USB-problems

I tried to connect a digitalcamera Canon Coolpix2100 in the USB. When I did I got the message "unknown Device". The camera works without problems on an Asus motherboard.
I connected an USB mouse in the KT3V and it worked just fine.
Does anyone know what to do?
    Gert

Do you have all USB ports enabled in Bios ? Did your camera came with drivers ?
What O/S are you using? Please post complete PC specs, includding P.Su. and AMPS it gives to 3.3v. 5v. and 12v.

  • G4MX440 AGP Problem

    Hi!
I just got an MSI G4MX440 which needs "AGP 4x" but my AGP bus vs 2.00 only supports up to "AGP 2x".  Will any one tell me please what problems will this cause and if there is any way to solve it.
    my pc is an:
    Compaq Presario 5460
475 mhz(will this be a problem at all since it needs 600mhz?)
    88 MB RAM
(yeah i know it a little old but thank god I at least got one)
Please tell me if any one needs more info about my system specs if needed and thank you very much for your help!!!!!

The GFMX 440 will abolutely not make your PC slow.
In fact it your preformance with games will increase.
The only thing I am trying to say is that your videocard will be able to handle the newest games (ut 2003, battlefield 1942, no one lives forever 2, mafia and so on), but the rest of your computer can't because it is only 475 Mhz, and only has 88 Mb's of RAM.
For example if you then start a game like battlefield 1942 the chances are that the game will not run smoothly.
But on second thoughts, I heard from a guy that plays battlefield 1942 on a Pentuim 3 500 Mhz, with 256 Mb's of RAM and a GF 2 MX 400 32 Mb videocard.
On this system he can also play mafia and ut2003.
So if you have your GF4 MX440 installed, why not give it a go sometime and see if one of these games is playable on your system.
And if you decide to keep this board and processor, but still want to upgrade, I'd advise you to buy a bit more RAM. I think 256 Mb's of RAM would do the trick. But then again it's always uncertain if your PC can handle the newest games with good Fps.

  • Savage AGP problems: no textures?

Recently I read about people playing Savage, and it seems like a very fun game from the website. Thus, I downloaded and installed the demo, but textures are not working. After starting the game it complains about not being able to write to AGP memory and something about agpgart.
Now Tuxracer, Trackball and Half Life through Wine are already working fine and I have a dynamic link to /dev/misc/agpgart as /dev/agpgart. For my laptop intel card I needed to load the agpgart, intel_agp and i830 modules.
Savage is unplayable because all the textures except for the fonts are grey. Did anybody else have this problem, or would anybody have a clue on how to solve this problem?
    Thanks!

Bjørn wrote:Ok... playable in WinXP but not enough FPS for my liking. It doesn't seem all that fun either. Oh well.
Hi,  had no problems with the Demo install and the updater worked easily.  Running on a MP AMD system with a Nvidia Ti4400 and it runs fine at 1280x1024 with high graphics detail and extras.  The Demo apparently is quite lame compared to the actual game and my girlfriend got pissed when she foundout you have to kill animals to obtain money for weapons upgrades.  She was in a huff all last night over it
Both UT2004 and Savage run very well for me on Linux.  Now about that joystick config for Point2Play and Il2 FB?  I do like the tactical nature of it compared to UT2004 sorta reminds me of Giants but without the comedy.

  • VIA KM4M-V motherboard CPU speed and AGP problem

Hello. Please be patient I am not technical I would say I'm intermediate, so please if anyone is kind enough to help, please don't blind me with jargon! I have 2 problems I believe are motherboard related, I shall go thru them both. Any solutions/suggestions will be very gratefully received! Operating system is Win XP Pro SP 2 running 512 MB RAM (64 used at moment for onboard graphics)
I purchased this mother board: VIA KM4M-V. I also purchased an AMD Sempron PR2600+ which should be showing a speed of 1833 Mhz, but is coming up as 1466 MHz. Does anybody have any info please? I have downloaded and installed all the latest deivers and BIOS for the motherboard, and the MSI live monitor says there are no new updates now. Is there something in BIOS I need to change? Or is this a mistake on the manufactuers part? If so, which one? LOL
2nd problem: The onboards graphics weren't good enough for some games I had - it required an AGP card. So I have purchased an ATI Radeon 9550 256 MB AGP card. OK I installed this card. All OK starting up. installed drivers, restarted computer. Was OK then changed to 32 bit colour and change the resolution of screen. When I clicked apply went into energy saving mode. Rebooted. As soon as it went to boot into windows, the monitor went into energy saving mode. Once it didn't straight away and windows started then the screen went distorted then it went into energy saving mode. I went into safe mode uninstalled the graphics hardware booted into windows again and reinstalled looked OK then I rebooted and it did it again grrrrrrrrr I went and disabled onboard graphics (ATI said might be issue on their site) still won't boot. Something I am doing wrong? Is it the motherboard?
I'm thinking that it is both botherboard ::koff:: I mean motherboard It's OK I mean it's better than what I had, but I know it's not what it should be! I am grateful to you guys for your help. Thanks very much

More on this! I am running win xp pro sp 2 BTW. I have been swapping between the onboard graphics and the ATI radeon 9550 AGP card I just got. I have been disabling onboard graphics, then installing from scratch (all virus and programs off). As to power supply/amperes? I have no idea all I know is it's a 450 watt rating and has ummmm 230 on back (volts?) it's pretty new I got it like 5 months ago
OK I can get it sort of working when I go into the BIOS and set it from 8x to 4x. The graphics advanced setting was showing 4x. The motherboard is SUPPOSED to support 8x but it just won't work at all in that mode. It works for awhile in 4x mode. No specific amount of time I have current drivers on everything! Then the same old thing happens! Monitor goes to energy saving mode or computer restarts. On restart can use it again for a limited time again, and then the mouse pointer kinda goes funny and it freezes. It goes pixalated and if I move it this 'block' goes up and down in a line only. Most of the time has been trying to start AOL (my ISP)  it goes off then. Have tried different rates (went down to 16 bit) and desktop sizes (went down to the one above 800x600) no go. I took the refresh rates to 60, tried everything. I have taken it out again.
I don't know if it a motherboard problem, the graphics card or a combo! I just paid £54.99 for the graphics card, and don't want to waste it! What should I do. It's really frustrating!

  • [Athlon64] AGP problem with my new MSI K8N NEO4-F

    Hey!
Just bought a MSI K8N NEO4-F and got a serious problem with the AGP port, the graphics card wont work!
When I install my radeon 9700 pro I can't get a picture, everything else works including a pci graphics card.

  • AGP Problem

    Hello,
I have the MSI K8N Neo 2 Platinum Mobo, along with it I have a Geforce FX 5950 Ultra and an AMD 64 FX53.
The initial installation seemed to go ok, I installed the chipset drivers as soon as windows XP was on there and then made sure the rest of the hardware was installed and functioning correctly.
I Ran 3Dmark 2003 to compare the hardware change with that of my old Mobo and Processor and the score came out lower than before.
When i checked the detailed information I noticed that on my old system the AGP rate was 8 x /4x8x.
The new motherboard had 0x under its AGP rate.
I was told that I didn't install the chipset drivers correctly. So I formatted my computer and loaded windows XP back on. I installed the chipset drivers straight away and then every subsequent driver after that.
    Still no good.
So I loaded the default bios settings. That didn't help.
I have reverted my graphics drivers back to older versions and too be honest have spent so much time on this now that I am at the end of my tether.
If someone has some knowledge of AGP speeds and how I can check the speed the AGP is currently running or if they know of a problem like mine, I would grately appreciate your advice.
    hanging on for a reply

My Graphics card is currently set to PCI mode even though its specified as AGP in the bios. This is confirmed when I use the cool bits reg hack to unlock the additional fields in the NVIDIA driver control panel. I have the most recent version of the NForce3 chipset drivers installed, this was the first thing I did after I did a clean install.
you didnt say 1T or 2T , makes quite a difference with this chipset it seems
What kind of score were you expecting to see?
How does your score compare to other people with similar setup?
I must admit if you wanted a high 3dmark03 score, I would have bought a 3800 or 3500+ and put the saved money towards a  6800GT/Ultra or X800 Pro/XT...
if you want to do lots of number crunching , you've bought the right system.
if you look at my specs, im seeing a score of 12,500 without CPU OC and mild GFX OC.
The drivers make quite a difference too.. not sure if 68.xx makes a huge difference on 3dmark03 or not though, but definitely on 3dmark05.

I have just purchased an MSI 875P NEO FIS2R motherboard and there is a sticker covering the AGP slot which says "Please use only 1.5V AGP cards to avoid pernament damage to this mainboard". However, on the website it says here http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=434
"One AGP slot supports 8x/4x at 0.8V (AGP 3.0) or 4x at 1.5V

  • MSI 6385 AGP problems

I have an MS 6385 motherboard running Windows 98 with 256MB RDRAM and a Geforce 4 MX440 Graphics Card. The problem is that the card should run in AGP 4X, but for some reason, in Windows it says it's running in PCI mode. Someone mentioned to get some VIA chipset drivers, but this motherboard doesn't support that chipset. Despite numerous attempts fiddling around in the BIOS, looking on this site for drivers which evidently don't exist, I cannot get the card to run in AGP 4X mode. Please help as this is one hell of annoying problem. Thankyou for your help.

Since the board has an intel chipset the VIA 4in1 is not for you.
You need the intel inf, then reinstall DirectX and the VGA drivers.
You should be running in AGP mode after this.
