L-Type Adapter Not Recognising MBA 2011, vice versa

I'll just cut straight to the chase, no filler:
Problem: MBA (Mid-2011) is not recognizing an L-Type MagSafe and vice versa - the LED is not turning on, the battery is not charging, and coconutBattery is not detecting an adapter.
Connector and port checked of any obstructive debris, none as far as I can tell.
Outlet is working and voltage double checked.
Warming up adapter had no effect.
Cooling down adapter had no effect.
Waiting 10 minutes unplugged had no effect.
All pins are in the proper state (not pressed).
AHT yielded no errors.
Multiple SMC resets had no effect.
coconutBattery says that no adapter was detected (which makes the last two points moot).
Sense pin appears to be fine.
Sense pin receiver appears to be fine.
No outward signs of corrosion on the pins or the connectors.
The only thing that seems out of the ordinary is a bit of the rubber molding around the connectors seems to have chipped off (circled) I'm still unsure as to how this would be able to affect the charging capabilities to such a great degree, but it's the only thing I can blame at the moment.
Question: Is there anything else I can do? Will I have to replace anything? If so, how much will it cost?
The warranty on the MBA has been expired for a while now.

Your description and testing is so thorough it's hard to come up with any other scenario,s but here are my attempts to help isolate the issue:
- Is there any visible damage on the rest of the cable, du has crimpsI got etc.?
- Is the plug on the other end of the cable OK?
- Have you double-checked that the wall chargeris working OK?
If everything else fails, make an appointment and bring your equipment to an Apple Genius For a checkup.

Skype not recognising microphone or vice versa??

Hi, I can't get my microphone to work with Skype on my HP DX2300 Desktop PC. Windows XP PRO.
I have started using Skype, but so far only for texting. I have connected the microphone to the appropriate socket (microphone symbol on front of PC case). The Skype "Echo Sound Test Service" effectively tells me the microphone is not working or being recognised.
The microphone is working in that I can hear what I say into microphone coming out of PC speakers. However when I go to the Skype “Check your sound works” and click on check microphone the sound is no longer heard and there is nothing shown on the green bar (to indicate volume – if it worked).
On the windows “master volume” panel, front mic and mic volume are both not muted and volume set to max (have also tried half way).
From control panel, then “sounds and audio devices properties”, under sounds recording the default device is a Realtek HD audio input (selected from drop down menu with only that as an option).
From control panel, then “speech”, I can get to "speech properties" no problem. However there is only one tab ("Text to speech"), no "speech recognition tab". There is an "audio output" button, but no "audio input". If I could get this tab to appear somehow, would Skype then recognize it perhaps?
I have rebooted (more than once!) to check if that will wake it up somehow, but no!
Do I need another (??) microphone driver installed? Or is this a known Skype microphone recognition problem? (searching for this on internet couldn’t find anything). Not being very clever at computers I thought it best to seek advice first!

The skype tools / options / audio settings / microphone only had one in drop down menu - Realtek HD audio input, same as on the windows settings. So that looks logical and OK.
HOWEVER I have played around again and I now have it working. I think I found yet another place where audio / mic settings are under control panel / sounds and audio devices / audio tab then sound recording. I say "I think" because I tried so many mute / unmute and volume settings I am not really sure which wasn't correct. It seems really ridiculous how many places can affect microphone performance!
Incidentally someone on a different forum also suggested trying a USB mic, but another person said don't use one of them as they are rubbish. I don't know, just passing on their comment.

How you can solve a problem or find out on a dead pc if the problem relies on motherboard and not on processor or vice versa

hi.
I am working myself with computers , so there is one thing in my mind I wanted to be sure,which I couldn't find an answer for it!
because I had before totally black screen and the problem was damaged processor.
I am wondering how I can be sure as the last option when I get a black screen and there is no lihgts at all no any LED is lighting.totally dead pc.
how you can be sure then that the problem relies on processor and not on motherboard or vice versa the problem relies on motherboard and not on processor
because I can't say to the customer lets buy first a processor if it is the cause of dead PC and if not then we buy motherboard. this sounds not wise.
so I experimented first with my latop ,I pulled out the processor to see if I can see any LED light or any movement on the motherboard to be sure that motherboard giving me some clue that it is healty. I gave some light heat to de fan to let it turn ,because
it is working with heat sensors then I know that the motherboard is healty. but it didn't work.
I did the same with my desktop computer and the result is the same no any lights and no any movement on the motherboard . so now can some one tell me how you can distuingish as a last result which of this 2 components is causing dead PC. is there any
tool to test the motherboard or how asus,dell ect. they solve such a problem if the customer send to them a dead pc.
I know that the power supply also can cause dead pc but I know how to solve a problem with dead power supply. and I want to keep away power supply from this question. please do not tell me that Idon't have to pull out processor
because I am a technician and both of my computers are doing very good after this experiment.

Usually if you have some kind of hardware failure there is some beeping during POST or most motherboards now have LED indicators to produce and error message based on the type of failure
So if its bad memory, not place properly, mismatched, processor not inserted properly, mismatched voltage or voltage connector not present etc it beeps or generates the error id.
Power supplies can be tested for failure. There are some walk throughs for testing just them with a switch, paperclip or a jumper (I'd suggest not doing this if you are not familiar with the dangers of electricity).
Memory can be tested with memory diagnostics programs like Memtest+
Processors can overheat if the proper precautions have not been taken usually you will get a POST beep or error code for that.
If the motherboard has no response then do the basics first:
Check power connectors and power supply. Once you determine that is not the case move on to other items like graphics cards in all the way or memory.

First of all, as I mentioned action is nothing but an executable work item which is designed in the workflow itself. In other words, Workflow is like your OOPS class. At run time, workflow instances are created just like objects of classes. Now, the steps designed in the workflow are called TASKS and the instances of tasks are called WORKITEMS. Now, the work items where any user action is required are called executable work items. ANd the work items where no user action is required (for example, sending an email in background) are called non-executable work items.
Whether to go with development of workflow or not depends upon your business scenario. If your requirement is only to send an email and you find any BAdi or exit where in you can write your logic then there is no need of creating a workflow. If there is a defined business process with defined users and time lines, then you can go with the development of workflows.

Syncing Notes to PC and vice-versa

Hello,
I have iphone 3gs, Windows 7 and Outlook 2003.
Since I upgraded the IOS to 4.0 from 3.0 notes has stopped syncing. It used to work with IOS 3.0 and Outlook 2002, I thought the Outlook 2003 upgrade might fix it. I also use Hotmail via a POP3 account.
I have read many comments on this and other forums and would just appreciate advice from someone who has actually been here.
Does it stop working from IOS 4.0 onwards ?
Is there any add on software that will work with ITunes/PC ?

To copy photos that were taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites then see this page.
To copy back photos that were originally synced from a computer you will need a third-party app such as Simple Transfer which can copy them off via your wifi network. But as photos are 'optimised' when they are synced to the iPad, any that you then copy back to a computer may not be exactly the same as they originally were on your computer.
To sync photos to the iPad, connect and select your iPad on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes, and on the right-hand side there should be a series of tabs, one of which should be Photos - if you select that tab you can then select which photo folders to sync to the iPad. There is a bit more info on this page. You will need to sync all the photos that you want on the iPad together in one go as only the most recent photo sync remains on the iPad - synced photos can't be deleted directly on the iPad, instead they are deleted by not including them in the next photo sync.

Google Mail downloads on Mac, but not on iPHONE or vice-versa

If I check my google email on my Imac, it doesn't download on my iPhone later.
Is there a way to adjust settings on mac, phone or gmail so it will download to both devices?

sounds like your gmail account is set to use POP for handling downloads to your Mail clients. Go you your gmail account on the web, and under settings change it to IMAP. Then it will keep a copy of your mail on the server, whicher machine you use to look at it first. You will have to change the settings on your mail Clients too, and if you ever work offline, you may want your iMac client to download a copy of you mails do you have them handy when you are offline.

Macbook pro(2008 later) can not recognise external monitor(NEC UXI2090) with mini-DP to DVI adapter with 9600GT

I bought mini-DP to DVI frome Apple several monthes ago and it worked well in that time until yesterday the external monitor show me no signal sign. Other PCs were connected with the same cable and monitor and they are fine. I am wondering there is something wrong in the adaptor or macbook pro. Furthermore I found the external monitor can display nornally when I switched to 9400 graphic card and used mini-DP to VGA adapter. If I switch to 9600GT no signal again. If I switch 9400 using mini-DVI, it is shown on the external screening: Out of range... In a word, In the mode of 9600GT, mac can not recognise external monitor(I can not detect it in the systerm preference even I press detect display buttun) and 9400 works in VGA mode. However when I connect adapter to mac, the screen showed blue flash.
I reseted SMC, no use; I created a new account or enter mac to safe mode, no use; so far I did not reseted PRAM beacuse of something wrong of my system. I am downlaoding Mountain Lion OS and will install it. Then I will reset PRAM and try again.
I do not know whether I shoud change the adapter or the single-link DVI cable to dual-link. Someone said it is useful in their condition. I tried some methods from BBS, such as connected when devices were off and then open, and so on. I failed.
Any suggestion for this problem?

I turns out that the logic board of my MacBook Pro was faulty (despite being brand new).
I took it to the Apple Store, presented the problem, and one of the Tech's came to the same conclusion that I had -- hardware failure. Phone support was no help in the matter (and even told me that what I was trying to do wasn't a supported option, which is rediculous). However, the Genius Bar did take care of the problem, and my MacBook Pro was back to me with a replaced logic board within a few days.

Ext HDD seen by 2011 MBP but not 2014 MBA

Hi all
My GF just unboxed a new 13" MBA. One of the models refreshed last week
She wants to set up fresh & just bring over some data from ext HDD's she used with her old MBP.
It is a 2Tb Seagate Drive (USB 3), which has an external power supply.
The drive is formatted into 2 partitions, a 1.5TB OSX Journaled and a 500Gb FAT-32 (for when she needs to transfer files to/from a PC).
The drive shows up fine on her MBP just fine. In Finder & Disk Utility.
However on the new MBA, there is no signs of it at all. Disk Utility & Finder shows nothing.
Both left & right USB ports on the new MBA work ok. I can see a different Western Digital (USB 2) powered ext. HDD no problems.
The Seagate drive LED lights up when plugged into the MBA and you can hear it spinning, it just won't show anywhere in the OS.
Any ideas brains trust?
I've done all the usual troubleshooting.
Could it be something to do with the firmware on the MBA needing upgrading?

typo mistake, what I meant to say is that your external HD is recognised by you old MBP and it is running in MBA but not shown (not being recognised as external USB) as you said that "The Seagate drive LED lights up when plugged into the MBA and you can hear it spinning, it just won't show anywhere in the OS." , have you checked that the power for the exHD on? because as I said ealier that I have ex HD imation 1 Tb used as backup for TimeMachine and someday forgot to turn on the power supply but when the exHD was plugged, the LED ON and I could hear the drive running, unfortunately not recognised by me MBP until I turned the power on. If the power is ON in your exHD then I suggest to contact apple customer service not the community only as you MBA is 2014 and under warranty

Late 2011 MacBook Pro; one USB port not recognising anything

I've had my MacBook Pro since January 2012, so I believe it is the late 2011 13" model. I'm currently running OSX 10.9 although the problem I've been having has been going on around 3 or 4 months, I think I had OSX 10.7 installed when the problem started.
One of the USB ports on my Mac (the one on the left when looking at them face on) is not recognising my external hard drives, or recognising/charging my iPhone when plugged into the USB. The other USB slot works fine and recognises external hard drives, however when I insert the hard drive into the faulty USB input, although the hard drive lights up and starts whirring as if it is ready to start functioning, it does not appear under the 'Devices' tab of the Finder screen, but does appear and function when using the other port.
Similarly, when I plug my iPhone 5 into the faulty port it is not recognised/does not start charging, however if I leave it running and come back later I often have at least a level of increased battery life which suggests that it does intermittently charge from time to time, and again it functions normally when using the fully functional port.
I've tried the NVRAM reset as I have read in another post but to no avail. Is this likely to be a mechanical fault over a software problem, and if so what could be wrong with it?

Please check in Settings: General: Keyboard: International Keyboards how many there are and which.
If there is more than one you can either delete the ones that you don't use, or if you want to type on different ones at different times you can change between them using the key with a world that appears when you are using the keyboard.

Weblogic + jnlp MIME Type not recognised

Can anyone help, I'm trying to get JWS to run on a machine that is running a Weblogic & Apache server for a large enterprise app. I've added the jnlp mime type to both the httpd.conf & weblogic.properties file. Depending upon where the jnlp file is situated, it either is returned as xml in the case of the Weblogic dir,hte mime type not being recognised or JWS starts and then throws a text.html error, if the the jnlp file is in the Apache htdocs dir. I've read that Weblogic introduced support for jnlp but my version doesn't include it in the config file. Is there a work around or won't JWS work with early versions of Weblogic?
