Labview 2010 can't add or subtract

Hi there. im having a problem with labview 2010. im not sure why and it is really weird.i have this for loop which i want to run for n-3 times where n is an array size. so i wire to the N of the for loop the output of the subtract operator and in the inputs of the subtract i put the array size and the 3 constant. but instead of giving me the result it alway gives me a -3. no matter what the size of the array is, the subtract operator always returns a -3. i tried replacing it for an add operator but it just gave me a +3 instead of a -3. so the for never executes. i tried recompiling it and deleting and redrawing the diagram with no success. i know it is a labview 2010 error cause i saved it for a previous version (8.6) and run it on another labview and it did the subtract correctly. here is the screenshot. i ran out of ideas any guesses? im downloading the service pack 1 to see if that helps. thanks in advance.

I agree with the above 2 posts.
I've never had math issues with LabVIEW.
My LV 2010 works well when trying what you described.  See below:

    Hi Cmrl,
Does it happen when you create an appointment via OWA?

  • Labview 2010 - Can't browse OPC servers on remote PC

    Hello all,
I'm trying to create an OPC client using LabVIEW 2010. I can see the remote PCs in my workgroup but the problem is I can't browse for OPC servers. I get error 080004002 (pic below):
I believe my DCOM settings are correct because I have MatrikonOPC Explorer installed on the same PC and through that I'm able to browse the OPC server over the remote PC. Also, I know the server is configured correctly because I have a second client PC that is able to connect to it, although it is running LabVIEW 8.6.1.
Is there any particular configuration to the 2010 version that I'm missing? Any help is appreciated.
    Best,

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

According to this, it seems that on LV 2010 there are two ways to develop an OPC client. Through DataSockets, which accepts OPC servers on version 2.x and below, and through the DSC module, which accepts servers on version 3.0. Because the server I want to connect to is on version 2.1, I would be stuck with DataSockets, which is limiting. This is why I could browse the server using the "DataSocket Select URL.vi" but not when creating a new I/O server on the Project Explorer. The solution was to roll back to LV 8.6.1...

  • Outlook 2010 - can you add multiple signatures to a single email?

Basically using 2 or 3 signatures to create a quick email?  By adding a 2nd or 3rd signature to a new email.  I can't get this to work like it did in 2007.
    Thank you for any help.

    Hi,
Thank you for using Outlook IT Pro Discussions forum.
We can certainly add multiple signatures to a new email.
    In Outlook 2010, click
File > Options > Mail > Signature. We can add multiple signatures there, and set a default signature.
After that, when we compose an email, click the
Insert tab, click Signature in the
Include group, we can choose other signatures.
If you encounter any problems when trying to add the signatures, please let me know.

  • SOAP / WSDL LabView 2010 can't connect to local webservice of network printer

    Hi,
we are using a Labelprinter from cab (www.cab.de) that supports a webservice.
    IP: http://192.168.1.66/services.wsdl
When i use this link in FireFox i will get a XML file (see attachment). The company "cab"
has an example using NetBeans to write a deskop application using Java. I tried that and
i was able to connect to the webservice.
When i do that with LabView 2009 or 2010 i get an error message:
    1. URL doesn't exist or WSDL is wrong
    2. authentification failed
    3. proxy settings wrong
    to 1)
i'm shure the link is ok, i can't connect to it with Netbeans (i used copy & paste to be sure)
    to 2)
In Netbeans it is not possible to enter a user and PW. But anyway i have use the standard
soap user the was given by the company.
    to 3)
    don't use it
The last point is, that there is an error in LabView 2009 and 2010, e.g. error parsing the XML file?
    Can someone help me?

  • How can I add the number of columns/row starting with the build in "Text Report" example in the LabVIEW

    Hi All,
I am wondering how can I add the numbers of row and column from the existing build-in "text report"
VI ? If possible, would you mind showing me step-by-step because I am a new user and I am not familiar with the labview software.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Easy text Report is for saving to a file. Do you mean you just want to add the totals of two arrays and write that? In that case I would just append the totals before writing to file.

    Mahisnair wrote:
yes i had tried this way but the vi built with silver theme doesnt look good in 2010 :-(
wish if there was a way to include silver theme in 2010
The only way I see to make it like that would be to recreate the theme in LabVIEW 2010 with external bitmap objects. Unfortunately it won't be as functional as the silver controls in various terms such scaling (bitmaps scale very badly) or transparency and click through functionality (a bitmap assigned to a control part will always catch all clicks and never allow a click to pass through anywhere to a lower layered part).
The silver controls are using special internal graphic objects that were added in LabVIEW 2011, so recreating silver controls with the same functionality in earlier LabVIEW versions is impossible.

That's a question only the provider of the application can answer.
You could also take a look into the system event log if there is an indication for the reason of the application failing to start properly. It is possible that certain services are required for the application, but they do not run on the machine.
Another point is possibly missing rights. So you might want to test the application once with the option "Run as Admin" (right click menu item on the application shortcut or the exe itself).

  • Can't subtract from time, date, can only add

I've been having some trouble with times and dates. I wanted to perform a time correction calculation, that is, to find the difference between two times, then add the difference to a third time as a way of "correcting" it. So, you can add and subtract time-date values in Numbers, and you get the difference in a decimal fraction of days. That is, a day is 1, a half a day is .5, etc. This is the same way Excel does things. So far so good.
The problem is that, for some reason, you can add to data-time values, but not subtract. For example:
    2/27/2008 9:30:00 PM + .01 = 2/27/2008 9:44:00 PM
    great, no problem, but...
    2/27/2008 9:30:00 PM - .01 = 2/27/2008 9:30:00 PM
Huh? Why can't I subtract? What's even stranger is that it works of you do this:
    2/27/2008 9:30:00 PM + (-.01) = 2/27/2008 9:15:00 PM
No that's messed up. Subtraction fails but adding a negative number works? This is a crazy bug.

    Hello
For the add/substract a constant, my first guess was quite simple.
The parser is defined to accept the operator + not the operator -.
If it finds a +, is parse the parameter which may be positive or negative.
If it finds a -, it treats it as a "not allowed" one.
    Alas it's a wrong description.
If I try to add 1.1, it works.
If I try to substract 1.1, the integer part is substracted, not the decimal part.
So, it can't be a feature but a bug.
I'm a bit reluctant to report it because I'm afraid that the result would be : disable the tip fooling the beast with a fake addition.
    What's your advice ?

    Hi,
If you have checked the permission, I suggest you checking the Membership Approval configuration.
    1. Closed the option “owner approval is required to join the group”
    2. Open the option “anyone can leave this group without being approved by the group owners”
To do this, follow the details at

  • How can I add a 3D-GRAPH in a Report in Labview 5.1?

I want to Create a form with text, Data, Header text and a 3D-Graph. I tryed to create a Report but I dont know how to inculde my 3D-Graph.
    Please Help.
    Thanks,
    PH!L

    Hi,
The idea is to follow these steps:
    1. Right click on the 3D graph reference and select Create->Invoke Node from pop up menu.
    2. The invoke node will appear. Now right click on it and select Methods->Get Image.
    3. Now you have to save this image to your harddrive. To do it you have to use for example "Functions->Picture&Sound->Graphics Format->Write JPEG File.vi". You have to connect all the outputs of Invoke node.GetImage with corresponding inputs of this VI and also you have to specify the path of the file the image to be saved.
    4. Now you have a JPG file on you harddrive and you can easily add it to your report with "Functions->Report Generation->Append Image to Report.vi"
I use LV6.0 and tried to create an example for you and save it to LV
    5.0. But without success.
So here is an example in LV6.
    Good luck.

  • LabVIEW 2010 thinks it is already installed thus preventing me from installing it

I had 2010 installed before, then a terrible problem with file corruption damaged the installation and now I need to reinstall it.
Problem is that no NI installs appear on 'Add/Remove programs' so I cannot 'repair' or 'remove'.  Also when I install from the DVD it thinks 2010 is already installed and just shows 'Currently installing LabVIEW 2010 (English) for a second' and then reports 'No software installed or removed'.
I've even tried deleting the National Instruments folder from Program Files but this did not help.
Any ideas on how I can force a reinstall - maybe I need to modify something in the registry?

All NI Software is listed as a single entry called 'National Instruments' in the add/remove programs.
If that is not available, I would try to run msiblast (see here)

    Hello RBrown
I am really sorry for this inconvenience!  This is a known issue.
Can you please attempt the following for me:
When you are building an application, under Advanced please check the last box "Use LabVIEW 8.x file layout"
If that doesn't work, you may need to rebuild the LLB in a separate directory with new names, and use it as the build inclusion.
Here are some forum posts strictly for your information:
I have found users that have had similar issues. I am trying to make this workaround work for you.

  • Problems distributing application using Imaging Source USBCamera and Labview 2010 - Imaging Source sdk required?!

    Hi
I've been having trouble with the Imaging Source camera we own when trying to build applications.
Everything works perfectly on the dev PC with appropriate sdk installed.
When I  move to building the application (no errors) and deploying it to another PC the activeX control used to interface with the camera does not appear.
Instead I get 'Control could not be loaded' in red text where the control should be.
As far as I can see the activeX component itself is correctly installed on the PC.
If I install the IC Imaging Control sdk the application begins working correctly.
If I uninstall the sdk from the dev PC I get the message about needing a license if I attempt to add the ActiveX control afresh to the program (via the activeX container)
I've posted on the Imaging Source forums and they suggested I try here.
ORIGINAL POST ON IMAGING SOURCE FORUMS:
    I'm using a DMK 41BU02 with labview 2010 + IC Labview extension.
The activeX interface for the camera works fine until I deploy it to a PC that does not have the IC Control software installed.
All I see is a 'Control could not be loaded' message where the activeX box should be.
I've installed VB6 redistributable to the client PC so I know the activeX workings should be present on the PC.
If I install IC Control onto the PC the program starts working correctly!
Has anyone compiled software with Labview 2010 successfully?
Is there a trick when creating the application/installer spec?
    Thanks in advance
    Dan Acres
    REPLY
This is correct. I suppose, the LabVIEW setup creating system does not automatically add the used DLL in the "user.lib" directory of your LabVIEW installation path. What does the LabVIEW support say about this, especially in relation to ActiveX controls, that use the Microsoft licensing mechanism?
The dll he mentions is packaged into the support folder in the application spec.
I have also manually copied the dll into the location referenced by the software (Labview 2010\user.lib\xxxx.dll).
    This made no difference.
I've got no experience building these kind of thing into applications so I cannot tell if it is caused by a mistake I've made or Labview or if the Imaging Source softwares have done something wrong.
    Many thanks in Advance
    Dan Acres

    Dan,
I think I might have a solution for you and others who need to include the imaging source active-x control in a deployed executable program.
I solved this problem by creating a project that included the dlls and .ocx files required for the Active X Control (these files are in a folder is created once the IC Software is installed C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\IC Imaging Control 3.2) and an executable that registers the Active X Control after the main program is installed.
The simple vi that registered the .ocx control for me upon install of my LabVIEW executable was called RegisterActiveXCtrl.vi. All it does is calls the regsvr32 with the path of my .ocx file.
I bundled my main program PCDemo_Stratom.exe and RegICActiveX.exe into an installer and set the option to run RegICActiveX.exe at the end of installation.
The installer must be installed with administrator rights to get the RegICActiveX.exe regsvr32 call to work.
Hope this helps you/others in the future!
    Dan A
