Labview talking to agilent 54830B oscilloscope

Our lab recently bought an Agilent oscilloscope.  I have installed the appropriate software and drivers that I found on the NI website.  However I am relatively new to all this.  I was wondering if anyone knew of a typical setup for such a labview program.  I know that I need to initiliaze parameters, grab data...  My application is using an ultrasound probe to grab one scan line of data and plot it.  Is there an good documentation out there, which provides a clear description of how to start and build up a labview interface for grabbing data from the Agilent oscilloscope?
Thanks,
Tom

Hey Tom -
Have you had the chance to download the Instrument driver for your
Agilent 54830B Oscilloscope?  The best way to learn how to create
your own LabVIEW application for an instrument is to view the example
programs that come with the Instrument driver.  You can modify the
examples to use as a basis for your application.  Once you install
the instrument driver on your machine, you can find the examples from
your function palette by going to:  Instrument Drivers>> HP
548xxA>> Application Examples.
The link to the Instrument driver Network is :  http://www.ni.com/devzone/idnet/
I hope this helps you get started.

  • LabView drivers for Agilent 54830B scope or E4402B Spectrum Analyzer?

Where can I find LabView drivers for the Agilent 54830B scope and the E4402B spectrum analyzer, or at least a driver for another instrument in the same families that I could modify? There are none on the NI site or the Agilent site.

One thing that I have done several times is get a LabWindows CVI
driver from Agilent. You will be provided with a .fp file. LabVIEW
has a link under the Tools>>Instrumentation menu that allows you to
"Import CVI Instrument Driver." This will take the function calls
from CVI and build a set of VI's with the same name. The vi's will be
wrappers for a dll that is used by CVI and other text based languages.

  • Connecting Agilent DSO3062A Oscilloscope with LabVIEW using USB

I am trying to connect Agilent DSO3062A Oscilloscope with LabVIEW using USB but the device is not recognized by MAX. I have installed the drivers for scope and it works fine with the scope software. The problem is LabVIEW dosen't recognize the scope. Please tell me the procedure of setting up the scope with LabVIEW 8.2. I am using Windows XP.

    Hi there,
I think the issue is that the DSO3062A will not be recognized by LabView as a GPIB instrument through the USB connection. If you check out the 3000 series manual (http://cp.literature.agilent.com/litweb/pdf/D3000-97016.pdf) you'll notice on page 8 it says you can't use the USB for programming, it can only be used with their scope software. You need the N2861 module installed on the back to connect via GPIB, and then a GPIB interface to your computer. I hope that helps.

  • LabVIEW drivers for Agilent Noise Source 346B and Signal Generator E8257C-520

Could anyone please tell me where to find LabVIEW drivers for Agilent Noise Source 346B and Agilent Signal Generator E8257C-520. I did not find them on NI's web site. Thank you!

To my knowledge, the Agilent 346B Noise Source is not a programmatically controllable instrument and therefore we can't create an instrument driver. I suppose it is possible to be controlled through an instrument (like the PSG) but I don't see any documentation on this.
As for the E8257C, we are insterested in providing a LabVIEW driver for this instrument series. Let me know if you are interested in assisting our development effort by loaning us the instrument.

  • Labview drivers for agilent e4432b ,can`t find way to control multitone ???

labview drivers for agilent e4432b ,can`t find way to control multitone ???How to deal with it
    Solved!

    Hello Brownheart,
Drivers for box instruments are not meant to cover all applications of an instruments use, only the most common uses. Regardless of discussing whether multitone is a common use for this instrument, a cursory examination of the available functions in the driver does not reveal this functionality.
What you will have to do is create your own config VI using the information from the programming manual of the device. Not ideal, but at least the provided NI driver gives you a starting point from which to add this functionality.

  • Will LabVIEW talk to DAQ board made by Measurement Computing?

I am a senior at UNC-CH, working on a research project for a professor who has a DAQ board made by Measurement Computing, which looks very similar to NI boards I have used in the past. Model: CIO-DAS16/330 The software we're using is LabVIEW 5.0, and I need to know if there is any way to make LabVIEW talk to these boards? I understand that the best solution would be to buy an NI board that LabVIEW is configured to work with, but we don't have the money for that!

Yeah, I've used these libraries and they work fine. The library
package cost me $50 about a year ago. Most of their boards are
supported under the Comedi drivers so you can use them with
Linux if you don't want to pay for the MC libraries.

  • Labview driver for agilent 8164A tunable laser

I'm working on a project that involves setting up our Agilent 8164A lightwave measurement system in labview. I cannot locate the driver software on the NI website. Please let me know where I can download the driver for this equipment. Thanks.

Actually we don't have a driver for that instrument in our website, so that means that we also don't have it in the CD. So you may want to check the Agilent's website, or as a matter of surprise, I found in our database one document that was talking about some past issue and it involved the 8166 instrument, so the author attached the driver for this instrument so we can reproduce what he found out, so I'm attaching this file here which is the file the previous Sr. mention, "hp816x", I installed it in my computer and run it and it is an Agilent made driver, so you can use this one or try to contact the Agilent people. Also you may request a LabVIEW driver been made for this instrument, please see the details at: O
ther Driver's Resources from our download site.
    Good luck!

  • Acquiring Agilent 54642D Oscilloscope Waveform AND Settings

    Hi,
I would like to use LabVIEW to capture the waveform already displayed on the screen of my Agilent Oscilloscope (model 54642D). With this waveform, I would like to obtain the current settings of the oscilloscope-channel as well (volts/div, time/div, probe atten., delay, offset, cursors with freq/period, etc.). In other words, I acquire a signal with the scope (not LabVIEW), adjust the scope settings to my liking on the front panel of the oscilloscope, and then I would like to capture the exact waveform displayed on the scope screen WITH the settings of the oscilloscope.
I have been using the project-style driver, found here: http://sine.ni.com/apps/utf8/niid_web_display.model_page?p_model_id=724
This works for controlling the oscilloscope settings and acquiring a waveform, but it's not what I want. I simply want LabVIEW to capture the current state of the oscilloscope display and settings used.
    Thanks much,
    Brad

  • DAQ doesn't show the input waveform in Labview as it is in oscilloscope.

Just bought a PCI-6035E DAQ board + CB-68LP connector and testing it by inputing a square/triangluar/sine wave from a wave generator. In MAX, I can see the waveform as in the oscilloscope. However, when I try to see this input in Labview by using the Waveform Chart VI, the displayed waveform becomes an arbitrary one. Why is it happening and how can I correct it? I'm a novice in this field, so your advice would be highly appreciated.

Seems that there's something missing in connecting to the daq card: in most cases this situation occurs when the signal reference is missing. When you input a signal in an oscilloscope, you wire both a signal and its reference (ground or similar), otherwise you see nothing than noise and disturbs.
With a daq card things are a little more complicated 'cause you have a more flexible and more universal instrument than an oscilloscope; you must decide which type of connection to use: referenced- or not-referenced- single ended or differential connection, which channel(s) to use... and the configurations in MAX and in labview must match if you want to simplify your job.
I suggest you to study carefully the card user manual when it describes the analog input w
iring and all the consideration about different types of connection. My experience is that in most cases the differential input is better to reduce signal noise and reject disturbs, but you must use 2 channels per signal...
You can also look at this tutorial about wiring an input signal:

  • Looking for Labview driver for Agilent 4294A (HP)

    Help!
I've been browsing the driver database looking for the Labview GPIB driver
    for Agilent(formerly HP) 4294A Gain-Phase Analyzer.
Does anyone know where I can get it?

    Hello all,
NI is interested in developing LabVIEW and CVI drivers for the Agilent 4294A. I have been trying to obtain one of these units on loan from Agilent for the past couple of years with no success. If anyone can spare their 4294A for the duration of driver development or can influence Agilent to loan a 4294A, NI will write certified CVI and LabVIEW drivers for it.

  • LabVIEW work with Agilent Signal Studio?

Hi, anyone knows if LabVIEW can work with Agilent Signal Studio Toolkit?
Here some signal have to be generated by this signal studio toolkit instead of signal generator, if using LabVIEW to automate the data processing and test, is there any API or driver available for this?

    Translation from french
I recently bought a probe set for E9300 Agilent E4419B power meter. This meter was previously used in labview 8.6 with standard probes HP8481.La difference between the two probes is that we had previously calibritation load a table while the table is incorporated into the new probe.
For this to work, I updated the firmware of the power meter, version A2 09-01. It works manually, regardless of the probes.
I loaded new E441 series labview VI .. and it seems to work for the new sensor E9300. But the VI does not fonctionnenent with old 8481 series probes ... labview and old programs are no longer supported by the agilent new version. ago has an error signal at the Vi loading calibration tables.
A VI Did he were dévelloppé to operate probes Series 8481 v8486 and W8486-A2 version with 09-01 Wattmeter agilentE4419B?
