Lags, lags and lags!
After updating to IOS 7.1 appeared very much lags associated to the smooth motion of interface elements. And if you include the reduction in the transparency settings that slowdown disappears. Please fix it. Sorry for my english.

A laggy iOS device can be such a pain! I was going the same torture with my own iPod 4g with ios 6. But anyway you can always do this:
Go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. This method has worked a lot for many people.
You can also try disabing the parallax effect. Go to Settings>General>Accesbility>Reduce Motion
Another thing I discovered and this applied to my own iPod with 8gb of storage (not sure about yours) but once I am under a 1 gb of storage left, my device will slow down a lot but then again I had mine for 4 years so you can simply ignore this last point as this may likely not apply to you anyway.

My macbook pro (late 2011) is extreme slow, freezing, crashing and lagging too often.
I am new to the forum, I hope this is the good topic to post my problem.
I have a late 2011 Macbook Pro, and it is getting slower and slower. The performance was bad with Mavericks as well, but now, with Yosemite installed, it is much more worse. I have never reinstalled my system (only upgraded the osx), so it is an almost 3 years old setup. In that time I have installed a lot of applications, and also deleted a lot. About a year ago I upgraded the RAM, but didn't help too much. Now with Yosemite my startup time is more than 5 minutes, and sometimes the startup freezes (and I have to push the power button long to retry). Safari with 5-10 tabs is extreme slow, and lagging when I switch tabs or open new ones. To launch a new app, for example skype, i have to wait 1-2 minutes. Everything is slow. Sometimes my finder crashes, and works only if I restart the macbook. Another example: if I open the downloads folder in Finder, I have the spinning loading icon for about 20-30 seconds, and just after this time can I see the content of the folder.
My console is full of errors, I get new records in every single seconds. I repaired the disk permissions, deleted safari cache, history, etc. but nothing helped.

Dec 11, 2014, 12:04:08 PM Self test - passed1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off by the complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can act on it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of the script have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.

☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.

5. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
[Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report what happened. No harm will be done.
12. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

Stuttering and lag during playback when hooked up to TV
Hi,
I recently bought the monoprice mini display port to HDMI adapter for connecting my MBP to my HDTV. I managed to get everything connected without too much problem, but once I started playing HD content through iTunes I noticed that there was substantial stuttering and lag. If I disconnect my computer and watch through the laptop monitor there doesn't seem to be any problem. The strange thing is that my wife's 3-year old macbook doesn't seem to have any problem playing back the same content on our TV using a DVI to HDMI cable.
I've tried using both video chips. If anything, the 9600m GT chip seems to produce MORE stuttering, rather than less. Perhaps I'm dealing with a heat problem here?
Has anyone had similar problems? Any workarounds? I've tried both the 1080 and 720 settings- there wasn't much difference.

MacBook Pro running slow and lagging during app switches/start
I mean, it's really getting bad. I have to force quit repeatedly and then by some miracle - something takes and the program opens. Most of the time this happens with Photoshop and Firefox (which is what I use most often). PS does not have a bunch of add-ons running or installed. It's pretty much CS3 factory.
I ran Disk Utility yesterday - during the verify disc, it told me to boot from the install disc to fix the 2 errors it found. I backed everything up and I did. Ran all the verifies and repairs from the start disc.
Still running slow and by this I mean when I open an application it takes a ridiculously long time to open the double-clicked document or just the program itself to get to a new doc. I noticed it again this morning with Excel (which is something I don't usually leave open and running).
What else I have done, which helped but just a smidgen ... was to remove all the extra fonts (and I did have thousands) in Font Book. I also removed Font Book entirely because it was another program that was locking up and needing force quit all the time ... and I just plain don't like it. So I installed Suitcase Fusion and only have the bare minimum needed in there (which kind of bothers me since I am used to have thousands on hand that just need to be turned on or off - yes I know, I keep them all off unless they are absolutely needed). But I only have one set in the Suitcase (42 font family).
I got my laptop in Feb ... so this painfully slow and lagging stuff shouldn't be happening. It used to work great. I could have all the apps open, flipping between them, really getting things done.
Here's my comp info:
Version 10.6.4
Processor: 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory: 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
HD: 500gb but I have 345gb free
Any obvious things I am overlooking? Any suggestions on how to get this fairly new thing back up to speed?

How do I Identify Lead and Lag in consecutive dates with multiple values?
I am using:
Oracle SQL Developer (3.0.04)
Build MAin-04.34
Oracle Database 11g
Enterprise Edition 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production
I would like to identify the Lead and Lags based on two groups.
The groupping is that multiple C_ID can be found in a Single W_ID
and that multiple D_VAL can be found in C_ID
So I would like to identify and mark with "Lead" and "Lag" related to the "consecutivedaysc" (this already matches the D_VAL and C_ID very well) for example W_ID 2004 has C_ID 2059 with D_VAL of 44 for April 2 & 3, the consecutive days are 2 and I would like to correctly mark April 2 as the Lead and April 3 as the lag.
Then I would like to mark the "Lead" and "Lag" independent of if there are multiple D_VAL on the same W_ID
Example that I am having trouble with:
W_ID 2285 on April 10 for C_ID 7847, I don't understand whay I can't get "Lag" in stead of a "Lead" realted to the consecutivedaysw
I would like to eventually have it that the data gets summarized based on W_ID and sinlge (non-repeating) dt with Lead and Lags.

What model year Mac and what version of OS X are you running.
If this is on an older Mac with standard Rotating HDD it could be a sign the HDD is either to full of data or it is starting to fail. It could also be caused by 3rd party software you've installed. -
Firefox on Windows 8.1 lagging, hanging, and crashing continually asking to set as default?
I have resisted, protested, and refused to update to windows 8.1. However when my laptop was on standby it automatically and forcefully updated. Since then the laptop has had numerous issues from programs not loading, black screens, lagging, hangings, and the rare crash.
However most of these problems have been with Firefox, for example Firefox can hang for 5 minutes or more, even attempting to forcefully close it in task manager doesn't work right away to close it. I have attempted to attach the 'troubleshooter 1.1a' information to my post above but I got an error message and I am not sure if it is there or not. If it is not then I will post it upon request (assuming that works)...
I have updated everything I can on 8.1 (would really like to downgrade back to 8.0 but I am not sure how to without redoing everything). Firefox appears to be up to date. I have disabled 'hardware acceleration' on Firefox. I have run security and maintenance software.

jpg, ACDSee starts immediately.Although I am a long time Windoze non-user, I vaguely remember that there's a difference between correct file-type association being set and some application starting at a mouse click on a file icon. I also vaguely remember Windoze file-type association mechanism uses a few action-types. Java Desktop should expect a specific action-type for the association. -

I have one last related question if anyone has ideas... I use MS Exchange for email. However, when I make updates to my calendar and contacts, it doesn't sync over the wireless network. I have to shut down the apps and restart them to update them. Sometimes the changes don't appear for days. This is a real problem for a calendar. Is there a way to force re-syncing to Exchange while in the app?

After installing new GTX 660 TF OC system running slowly and lags in graphic

I have had some problems with my newly bought MSI GTX 660 TF 2GB OC card.
After install the computer have been very slowly allmost like the driver wasn't there. When I drag a window it show the animation in frames and lag. And this is in windows basic theme. My CPU also have a higher load when performing task than before.
My previous graphic card was: GTX 295
What I have already tried:
1. Remove all existing drivers and using "Driver sweeper" in failsafe mode. Then reinstall the newest driver from Nvidia
2. Tried another PCI-E slot
3. Tried another PCI-E cable for power
4. Reinstalled the drivers once more
5. Format my computer and installed drivers once more
6. Updated my mobo bios
After reading some more i expect the problem could be solved by update my Graphic card Bios as there is a newer bios available.
I have downloaded the bios from the MSI download under the GTX 660 TF OC card.
However I don't know how to flash it. The read-me says this:

Need to copy all the files to a bootable usb drive?

FrederikWell, it is kind of hard to explain. Allmost everything I do is laggy and slowly compared to how it was before I installed the new graphic card.
Most noticeable is when moving with windows. It show the movement in frames. Overall it just behaves like if the drivers isn't working. I have tried with the latest driver and one of the latest beta drivers to see if it had any effect. No changes, still laggy.

I've got an early 2013 Macbook Pro retina 15inch, recently tte interface has been very glitchy, slow and lagging quite severely. i can't scroll through safari or any other prgram without it the content jumping up and down slightly like sit's bouncing between two walls. Also when i switch desktops/spaces, a vertical segment of the screen lags behind. Everything seems to be slower in general and just overall glicthy, jumpy and slow. I've had the proble before in mointain lion but one day it just stopped and fixed itself. I've had mavericks since the release date and it's only now it's playing up. The same problem is also appprent when goingin and out of expose. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When I got to the guys at the service they told me that it would cost me 80 € to fix this problem and I accepted even if it was kind of a ripoff(guess that's what happens when you don't live in a civilised country with an official Apple Store), since I wanted to get back to the flawless user experience that made me choose to get a Mac in the first place. A few days later I got a call from the service to find out that they weren't able to solve my problem and that apple would probably solve this with the 10.9.3 update, and that's exactly what happened. Now, I hope that Apple reads these posts and maybe decides to fix this problem forever, because when I got in contact with an apple support employe a few days ago afte the 10.9.4 update and nothing seemed to work, he told me that my final hope would be to erase my entire hard drive, then to transfer every file manually. This doesn't seem to be a viable solution at all, since it would be a pretty time consuming process, and I have no guarantee that the apps would recognize the files properly after manually transferring them.

So i install the OS and updated all my drivers and for all hardware and updated the BIOS and i got everything stock in the BIOS, No overclocking yet and when im just surfing the web or open up an app, I get this annoying lag and my CPU load and Memeory load will be at 0-5% and it will effing lag... Now i changed out everything thinking it was the problems, down to the Ram 3x's, CPU 1x, Motherboard 3x's (I'm even coming from a different board thinking, that was the the problem. Since i read alot of bad reviews on it.. AN INTEL DP67BG Extreme Series board and come over to the MSI im currently using ) and my PSU 1x.. and nothing fixed it.. When i run a CPU Stress test it comes back with no ERRORS... Now when i do a Memory Test in the BIOS of the mobo.. It will PASS, no problem.. but if i run it in MEMTEST86 it will FAIL right away.. Then when i test each stick 1 by 1 in BIOS they PASS, NO PROBLEM, But not in Memtest86... So i bought 2 Pairs of 4 new sticks 2 different times.. the same kind of Ram, "which are compatible with this board" and the same thing happens with the lastest MSI BIOS i'll test them with the Memory Tester From BIOS, all 4 sticks and 1 by 1 and then 2 sticks for dual channel in slot 1 nearest CPU and slot 3 and they will PASS but when i try with Memtest86 they FAIL... So i dont think its the Ram cuz 3 different sets are Failing... i highly doubt it's hardware anymore... Agree?

I've been working on this build for 2 straight weeks day and night and i have a bad taste in my mouth over this build. this isnt my first one either and i never, never, ever had theses problems before... i'm about to quit and go back to a p4 dual.. But i don't like to quit and want to feel the power of a i7 2600k that everyone swears by...

Thank you, Marcook so the WD is still doing it but not as bad as the seagate was! as for UEFI/BIOS im on 22.8 loaded with default setting except for the dram voltage now, and it was set at 1.4 something i changed it to 1.5 like you said and that help some but i still get lag here and there showing up when moving the mouse with is a microsoft wireless 4000
update so after setting it to 1.52v in bios im noticing when typing i get freeze up with the cursor and when i open apps the hour glass is appearing at longer then normal even for a p4 chip
any other ideas why is this becoming a nightmare with my hardware can you give me a run down on what everything should be set to in bios.. cuz it looks like default settings are off and im having video card issues but that's for another forum but im thinking they all tie in together..

It's really annoying me.
Any possible way to downgrade to the previous version ?Network working fine and smooth for previous version.
So the only thing change is upgrading to the latest version.
Since then YouTube clip become very very slow and lagging.
I do the same YouTube with my iPad using the same network, it work good and as usual smooth.
So can I downgrade to the elder version?by any means. -
Freezing crashing spinning and lagging!! ^$%@
Ive been pretty happy with FCPX so far, but the last week or so its beginning to freeze, lag after 20 minutes of working just fine. Then I have to restart and t works fine for another 15-20 minutes before it lags, freezes and sometimes crashes. Freezing = beachball spinning and wont stop. So most times I have to force quit.
Even on simple task as playback. What gives?? I have created a new Admin and tried that account but that still makes no difference.... URG!!

I am using Lion lastest version and FCPX 10.1. Im on a core i7 2.3 GHZ and 8GB of ram... but if it works great for 20 minutes why would it just begin to freeze for "no reason" after that?Have you tried trashing your preferences?
Faults like this can often be fixed by clearing out FCP X's preferences (for some reason, they get knotted up from time to time).
Download Digital Rebellion's Preference Manager (free, simple to use, and quite safe).

With Pref Manager, you can backup the Prefs first, then if trashing makes no difference, you can restore all your settings.
If you trash them and don't restore them, you will need to go over your FCP X settings again, so it's a great idea to backup Preferences from time to time when FCP X is working well, then you can ditch the bad prefs and restore from your (Digital Rebellion) backup.
It's worth a try.
